Does the LG G7 have different boards or just different firmware? - LG G7 ThinQ Questions & Answers

Did LG actually manufacture different boards for the various US models, or do they all share a common board with different firmware flashed? In terms of things that aren't re-writable.

[Q] Physical characteristics of E975 vs other E97x

I wanted to find out what exactly are the differences (aside from baseband/freq differences), physically between the E975 and other E97x models.
Long story short, I cracked my screen on my lgog (E970) and finding a replacement part (in-stock and not at a exuberant price) is a challenge.
However, replacement parts for the E975 appear to be more readily available and for reasonable prices.
So, I ask the E975 experts in this section, what are the differences? Can a E975 screen/digitizer/front-housing be used in a non-E975 phone?

[Q] Hardware Differences

Hi!
My Optimus G has had ghost touches for a month now, I've tried sending it in for repair but the service center says the motherboard is busted (which i doubt) and costs a fortune! it costs the same as a brand new Optimus G.
My suspicions lie in a grounded digitizer cable or a faulty digitizer altogether. I found an online retailer who sells the display/digitizer and I was wondering if I could do the repairs myself.
My Optimus G is a korean variant (F180K) and I was wondering if there's any difference between the hardware layout in the korean variant and the international variant? I haven't found any piece of info that says they're different so I'm not entirely sure but a local service center said that international and korean variants have different hardware, therefore you can't use international parts for korean variants; I was also wondering if that was true.
Any info would really help. I've tried everything software side but to no avail, the ghost touch problem is hardware related.

H815 model differences?

I know there are multiple H815 models, The EU version being the only unlockable one right now.
My questions are;
1) what are all the H815 model numbers, and if the models numbers are not different for different locals, how to tell them apart?
2)What accessories come default in each local package? (I know some come with 2 back plates, some with headphones, some with mail in offers)
I would like to purchase a H815 EU model, but as of now I have no real way to tell if what I will be purchasing will be what I actually want until I try to unlock it.
*EDIT* I know this could be in Q&A but when this is answered, I would like to be able to edit this into an informative post to help others.
My h815 is from Taiwan. I know this because that's where it shipped from. Plus on the box it says h815 TW. But no where n the phone does it say TW. So the only way to know as far as I know is the box. Mine came with one set of headphones, one back, and us/TW charger for what it's worth

One way to tell apart differences between phones within the LGH815 model category seems to be to identify the suffix of the individual phone.
See post here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=61159318&postcount=68 for test of IMEI of phone that reveals the suffix particular to that phone.

What is the best variant of the lg g4? Or at least what are the differences?

As the title says I would like to know about the different variants of the lg g4 before purchasing one myself. What are the differences and which one would you recommend and why. Thank you for replying

LG G8 Series Model Number Disambiguation

I was examining the LG G8 series and comparing models. I am having trouble identifying models of the series when references come from non-Official sources such as eBay, firmware download sites, and other places.
For example, LG provides the LG G8 Unlocked (USA) variant as having model "LMG820QM7" on its website (as can be seen https://www.lg.com/us/cell-phones/lg-lmg820qm7-unlocked-g8-thinq-gray ). When searching other sites, such as firmware download sites, I find a model numbers for what is supposedly the USA unlocked variant as "G820QM", "LM-G820QM", or "G820". It is rather unclear why there is a discrepancy. Are the different found actually for different devices? Is there an understood notation (by others) to represent model numbers differently for same devices?
My experience with other models other than the USA unlocked variant is similar. Please explain why there are these discrepancies.
I have found the solution to my inquiry after examining things myself. The greatest reason for the model number discrepancy appears to be laziness or incompetence. There are others, such as eBay sellers that handle devices in bulk that do not know the actual full model numbers and do not take the time to better determine them and for their convenience may fail to list the entire model numbers.
Sounds about right; it's just hard to know the exact model/variant being sold without the full info.
Something else that I forgot to post is that the firmware variant series indicator part of the model number, which s its last character but must be used together with the rest of the model number (the firmware series indicator value can be the same for different firmware series if they are for a different model or sub-model), is not something that is indicated on the actual hardware itself (though it is sometimes on the product packaging or a sticker on the product). So, someone that receives an item second-hand, such as an eBay buyer or bulk seller, might often not know the full assigned model number.
I am not sure whether the LG G8 full model number appears somewhere in the firmware/software; I do not yet have an LG G8 family device.
@armodons - I am curious. My understanding from reading another post somewhere is that you have the Brightpoint variant of the LG G8
LMG820QM. Do you know what its whole model number is (including the firmware variant series indicator)? Of so, would you please specifiy it?
My understanding is that, for various LG device series, the Brightpoint firmware variant series may or may not be the same as the North America Operators US Open Market firmware series for a given hardware device model.
On my LG G8 BPT variant it actually does not say anywhere in the software. In the About phone area within Settings, it simply lists LM-G820QM as the Model Number. I got this device secondhand and always thought I had the US Open variant until I tried to use LGUP and got a kdz mismatch error. Finally used an IMEI checker online to figure out that I had the Brightpoint variant.
It looks like under the model number LMG820QM, there are three variants--BPT, CCA, and USA, with USA being the actual US Open variant, though technically all 3 of these are part of the NAO (North American Operators) line of firmware but you cannot crossflash among them.

Please let me know what IMEI checker you used. IMEI.info used to be very good at providing this kind of information and other useful information, but at some point it stopped providing much of the information.

For LMG820QM there are actually more firmware variant series. For the CCA one ("COMPETITIVE CARRIES ASSOCIATION") you mentioned and as listed on firmware download sites, I am not familiar with the designation. There are also at least the Comcast (Xfinity Mobile) firmware variant series, as LMG820QM5; the Amazon.com firmware variant series, as LMG820QM8; and the Verizon LTE in Rural America (LRA) firmware variant series, as LMG820QMD.
Oh yes overall for all the LG G8's there area many variants! Sorry I cant remember which imei checker told me i had the BPT variant...
