Hello
I was wondering if anyone had any experiences with the Global version the Mi Max 3. Did i make a mistake of purchasing a Freedom Mobile LTE incompatible phone? Or it should be asking myself whether this is really the Global Version?
Boot-loader seems locked, box in proper English with UK adapter, that makes me think its the Global version.
When i put my sim card in Data works, SMS works, but no phone calls in or out, even tho in the Network options Freedom is fully detected as the HOME network.
Any ideas?

I bought one exactly the same, in the same version of global Miui (9.6.7.0) and had no problem at all. In the box that came your device is written on the side "global version"?

No, I'm in Brazil and here are other operators. These are the bands that the unit has:
2G bands GSM 850/900/1800/1900 - SIM 1 & SIM 2
CDMA 800 & TD-SCDMA
3G bands HSDPA 850/900/1900/2100
4G bands - LTE band 1 (2100), 3 (1800), 4 (1700/2100), 5 (850), 7 (2600), 8 (900), 20 (800), 34 (2000), 38 (2600 ), 39 (1900), 40 (2300), 41 (2500)
See if your operator has the machine's bands.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news my friend but yes, you did just buy a phone incompatible with Freedom Mobile as I just did the same lol. Yes, messaging and data does work but you'll never get phone calls to work. I was wondering if it was worth sticking with Freedom anyways because of the deals but in the end I decided to switch over to Fido which works fine with the Mi Max 3. Also the version I have is def the Global Version (9.6.7.0) as I checked on the official website.

Haha yeah closure def makes things easier to handle. Tbh the phone is good enough that if you don't make a lot of phone calls it's still worth it but the problem for me is that in order to unlock your bootloader you need to get permission from Xiaomi. In order to get permission you need to have your device linked with your Mi Account. And in order to to that a confirmation text has to be sent (think Whatsapp). However, even tho you can send a text normally this automatic one fails to send on the Freedom network. So basically if you want to do any rooting whatsoever you'll need a SIM from somewhere like Rogers or Fido which ended up being the deciding factor for me aha.
If you have no plans on rooting then you should be fine :good:
Your phone should connect on LTE band 4 with Freedom Mobile. Mine connects flawlessly on LTE bands 4 and 7 with Telus.

Should be getting the device soon, I'll see then, also in the regular Mi 5 xda there was some progress with unlocking bands, maybe they can help.
The values are the same on every Mi5S. Did you try changing the lte_bc_config value to enable b20? But anyways I don't think it's that easy to activate b20 on the Mi5S.
not to dirty the other post, I created this my idea, is to verify this information on our devices, if they have a fixed value, or changes to the device, since the limitation is not hardware but it is "just" software.

yes, these are fixed values. You can calculate them with this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vndnguyen.nvcalc
calculate the value including b20, change it on nvram and you should see if it's just software locked.
Edit: checked on my device and def. the same.

Well,
I have an idea but only someone with Redmi Note 3 Pro could help us to active the Band 20.
Redmi Note 3 Pro have 2 Global Roms:
- Global Rom (without B20)
- Special Edition (with B20)
Some of RN3P are using the Special Edition in order to have the Band 20 enabled.
Since that I don't have the phone neither the proper technical skills, I'm not able to explore this idea. Hope that someone could help us to enable that thingy.
------UPDATE------
I've been doing some research:
In the official forum post about the Special Edition, Xiaomi tells that if you flash the Special Edition ROM on the Regular Redmi Note 3 Pro, you will wipe your IMEI information.
Since the IMEI info is on EFS partition, could be that partition be the key to unlock the bands?
Is anyone able to: Backup EFS\ Install Special Edition\ Restore IMEI Info and check LTE Bands on a Redmi Note 3 Pro?
The special Edition is snapdragon the note in photo is mediatek

I know man, we have to wait for someone to help us.
many views, few answers!
I highly doubt you could enable it just by changing NVRAM values, people have tried it on the Mi5 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-5/how-to/progress-trying-to-unlock-bands-t3337476) but to no avail.
They're already looking at changing SNR levels and sync values...
My wishful thinking is that, since China Telecom announced that they'd start using LTE band 20 in 2017 we COULD get an update unlocking band 20, so people with Mi5s's on China could use band 20.
But, like I said, wishful thinking...

To be on the save side have you tried already:
- with different SIM cards (maybe also of other providers)
- changing the SIM slot on your phone
Xsiriusx, some providers disable LTE on their side for certain contracts. You should call your provider and ask him if LTE is enabled for your contract and sim card.

Ok, Im currently living in Japan and we have access to 4G+ or carrier aggregation. I have the unlocked Moto z play (its not available thru the carriers here so moto sells it directly) XT1635-02 and just chatted to motorola support about 4G+ support.
While the customer service representative was kind and trying to be as helpful as they could be, I wasnt that confident that they answered my question. So Can anyone clarify, Does the moto z play support 4G+ ??? The CSR said "it is not automatic like my friend's zenfone 3" so I have to turn on data (which I have on all the time but still no 4G+ symbol)
Thanks

Yes
Guys, did someone manage to confirm that it supports carrier aggregation? There is a place here that I am 100% sure that has CA and I am very close to the cell, because its the headquarters of the telecom company, but my Z Play doesn't detect it at all and speed is just normal 4G speed. My model is XT1635-02 dual sim.
All of you who post screenshots, can you post a screenshot from the cell info page while you are shown the icon 4G+ or LTE+? Its accessible by typing *#*#4636#*#*, Phone Information -> bottom, the values EARFCN are important. This shows what band are you on. (if you don't know what's this, google EARFCN calculator and when you enter the value there, it gives you the exact frequency that the phone is receiving signal) I didn't manage to get 2 bands on the same time - either is 1575 (band 3 1800mhz) or 2850 (band 7 2600mhz) but not both at the same time which is what actually 4G+ ot LTE+ is - to be connected to two bands at the time.
Thanks
Yes 4G+ works automatically i am pretty sure

No, actually there are different LTE bands available per region. The difference is less significative than, for instance, on 1+7, but they're still there (and the reason why I need to get the NA version, in my case).

So did having read that, if there is a 256GB EU version, get that as it has the B66, according to the Connectivity section: Bands (EU) FDD-LTE:B1,2,3,4,5,7,8,12,13,17,18,19,20,25,26,28,29,32,66
but I don't think they did
No 256gb variant that was released has band 66.

Appreciate this insight man!!
I'm in the US, NYC/NJ. I was super torn. I wanted to upgrade my op5. I wasn't a big fan of the pop up camera or the curved edges of the 7 Pro...plus I wanted a T.
The MacLaren edition is really nice, but...popup camera and like 400 more than the Chinese 7T. I couldn't justify it. So I took a chance and ordered the HD1900 Chinese version of the 7T with 265gb. So far, after about two weeks, it's excellent. I have no issues with not having a fast connection

Got the 7T rooted...no problems. Not used to doing it without TWRP, but it all worked fine. Magisk, root all working flawlessly. For 500, the 256gb hd1900 has been excellent. I know it didn't have band 66 (or something) but in NYC and Quebec I haven't noticed any problems. I'm coming from an OP5 and mobile connectivity is at least as good with the OP7T HD1900.
For me, the decision came down to value. I wanted the 256gb, which ruled out the US OP7T. The OP7 Pro is nice and I came close to choosing it but I don't like the curved screen edges and I'm not a fan of the pop up camera. The notch doesn't bother me. So, no 7T pro either. The t-mobile McLaren edition was tempting...12gb ram, 5g. But at almost twice the price...not worth it. So far very happy with the hd1900 in the US with the 256gb.
Once I got it rooted, of course.

Hi,
my wife bought a brand new Oneplus 9 Pro as a present for me from Ebay.
They say that is "European International Version", infact it runs Oxygen OS 11.2.6.6.LE15BA.
A few days after receiving the gift I asked my operator (Fastweb) to enable 5G because it doesn't Work. They say that 5G is enabled by default, so i inserted my SIM card in a friend's Samsung S21 and... all was ok.
After some research I realized that they had sold her the Chinese version that supports only few 5G bands (not the italian of course) flashed with the EU ROM.
Now the question is: it's possible to unlock missing 5G frequencies?
I tried to modify carrier policy.xml, but with no results.
Pls, help me.

Technically it's the same hardware, but the bands are baked into the baseband firmware and not user modifiable. Messing with carrier_policy isn't gonna change that. Unfortunately OP is SOL, hopefully it's still a good 4G device for you. Here is from mt-tech (author of the qtsp article)
This instruction only allow enable/disable 4G Carrier Aggregation & 5G EN_DC combinations and band support if hardware support it. If hardware doesn’t support, you can’t enable/disable band. Example OnePlus 8 (China) 5G doesn’t work in USA even it support n41 (T-Mobile/Sprint) band because it doesn’t support 4G anchor band used in USA.

We see this all the time, where Chinese OP devices are sold by 3rd parties cheaper but does not support everything and then people complain.
And it's possible to flash a different baseband?

The "baseband" you flash (non-hlos / modem.img) should be treated more like a driver for the hardware you are running. Technically it's more complicated than that since it handles the low level modem stuff prior to Android. There is no (known?) way to modify the actual firmware by the end user.
Oh... I remember that on the old S3 it could be done. If the hardware is the same we could try.
But it pains me to think that we have been scammed, that my wife threw a month's salary away and that I find myself with a neutered device.
Sorry to hear that, hopefully it's within the seller's return period. It's usually a caveat emptor kinda thing, the listing will usually tell you exactly which base model it is and the bands listed. If the seller misrepresented the device as a LE2123, then you can probably dispute it. Otherwise, most sellers offer a return period with a restocking fee.
AFAIK, the older device's modem img is actually the entire baseband and not non-hlos, so it can drive the entire modem.
First of all thanks for understanding.
So, do you know where to find the img and how to flash?
In the meantime, I try to contact the seller: luckily I haven't removed the protective plastics.
The Global ROM (AA) has the global non-HLOS, EU (BA) has theirs, etc. You can extract them from the OOS full update images, but like I've said, it's not gonna make a difference.
Hum... I will try.
Do you know if there is a standard procedure to do this?

Are you getting 5G in Zain KW? Even I get 5g in preferred network type. But when I select the option, I see the same image as highlighted. there is no option to select 5G
Just to clarify, i see this:
but no 5G connection in signal status.
Once again: i'm in 5G zone and my operator (Fastweb IT) supports 5G by default for all customers.
This is the result of scan. As you can see, no 5G networks can be found.

Hi,
I'm in the USA using Tracfone. I recently purchased this phone (end of last year).
I rooted it. I installed the Sakura ROM. I had an understanding that there might be "some assembly required" with a custom ROM & I am mostly happy with it.
But recently I have started getting messages from Tracfone, "Tracfone: Your service is at risk! Your phone will stop working 2/22.".
This appears to be coming from the underlying carrier, AT&T, and relates to the 3G deprecation. VoLTE is supported by the phone and in the ROM but it seems this phone is not in AT&T's whitelist of allowed phones after 3G deprecation. This seems to be related to supported bands (this phone supports a great number of them but perhaps not ones useful to connect to AT&T).
Are there any workarounds for this? I could get a T-Mobile SIM from Tracfone but I am guessing I am going to have exactly the same problem from them?
Can any of these phones even be used after the deprecation of 3G has been done by all the major carriers?
Am I missing something?
I would love to be able to actually use this phone.
Ouch. Didn't think that would happen so fast.
I actually double checked to be sure my phones are white listed by AT&T.
See what other carriers say because I don't think there's a work around for AT&T especially if the bands aren't supported.
Maybe advanced tech support would have a suggestion or fix you could use. Some of the agents will go out of their way to help, some are duds. As always use Google search...
well afaik, you've only got 3 options
1. spoof the imei and make it look like a supported phone. not sure if i can talk about the specifics here and even if i could, it'd be a pita even for me to do it
2. find another carrier who doesnt whitelist phones
3. use voip apps like google voice to bypass the volte problem

Don't think the first option would work because it's the configuration and/or hardware that's the problem not the brand.
AT&T makes big bucks selling cell service so I doubt they turn down your business if your phone was compatible.

I checked the T-Mobile IMEI checker and, if it's accurate, it doesn't look great. I'm not sure what "not blocked" means but it claims it's incompatible.

Not blocked may mean it can be used for data only or it's not blacklisted?
What's it say for the expanded explanations?
well most xiaomi phones dont really work too good over here in the us because of missing bands with the exception of the mi mix series.
this pretty much explains the situation
Will Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite work in USA?
In this page we are going to show you the compatibility of Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite with the mobile networks of USA and with the telephony operators that provide service in USA.

the only 2 carriers that look like it would work fine with are cspire (which i've never heard of) or gci wireless (also never heard of)
that being said, it should *work* on the other carriers, but i have no idea how well

I ordered the T-Mobile SIM from Tracfone. I figured that worst case was that I am down $1.00 & will be left without a working phone (until I have access to an old backup phone in a few weeks that will probably work —Moto G6 Play); vs. by default being left without a working phone in a few days if I did nothing (until I have access to the old backup).
It looks like it was allowed. The only hitch was that transferring my phone number (from using the AT&T SIM to using the T-Mobile SIM) took a bunch of hours. I even have VoLTE enabled (which appeared not to be possible with the AT&T SIM —and I assume is the only way this phone will work after the switch, if at all).
I imagine the coverage may be spotty given the poor coverage in the supported bands but I may be OK with that for now (probably depends on how spotty spotty really is and where). I'm sure it might be one of those YMMV things (and one that could change in the immediate future?).
