Hi all,
I compiled AOSP Extended ROM v. 5.8 (Oreo) and I thought I would share it here as well.
All credit go to the maintainers of the s5mini device tree(s), to AOSPExtended Team and everyone else who contributed.
What does not work (so far):
- Video Recording
- FlipFlap
- Auto-detect APN (I had to manually set it)
- Call forwarding settings menu: Radio (gms/umts) stops working; needs reboot
- Background light for hardware buttons (fixed)
- NFC (Problem with menu/settings) (fixed)
Disclaimer:
* Your warranty is void when flashing this rom. *
* I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards or other problems. *
Download Link: AospExtended-v5.8-kminilte-20181111-1820-UNOFFICIAL.zip removed: (this ROM is quite old and missing security and other features. Use a Pie build: e.g. https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=64356&sort_by=date&sort_dir=DESC)
Note: This ROM should work on all Exynos based variants(G800F/M/Y), however I could only test on G800F.
Installation (GAPPS): (You know the drill...)
-Flash ROM with latest TWRP
-Flash OpenGAPPs
-Flash Magisk
Installation (Nanodroid):
-Flash ROM with latest TWRP

Hello,
I just checked SD (external) storage and here it is accessible (I can create and delete files&folders). Do use it as internal storage?
you need to give permission for 3rd party apps like amaze (it did not work the first time)

Yes, I tried to use SD card as internal but also as external device.
I also confirm that folders can be created and files can be copied and erased.
But if I want to acces the external card with any APP (likt dict.cc) which needs access to external SD card, it says memory is not accessible.
Just give me a hint, how shall I give permission to 3rd party apps?
Do I set Memory access is in security section in the settings, because this does not work.
Or do I have to access any config file using a terminal?
Thx for your reply, mate.

I'm thinking that dict.cc app is a broken or not fully supporting Oreo. It doesn't even start properly here..( all white or black screen, then, after a long time, a search bar that is not really working ) and 'dict.cc isn't responding' as well as 'GENERIC ERROR' something (at least on first start).
But, eventually I got it to change the directory: (changed Data Storage Location to /storage/3451-1301/). Even though dict.cc said it didn't work...
All the other apps I tried can also access sdcard:
I inserted SD card and started VLC and get this message:
'New external storage detected. Do you want VLC to add device sdcard1 to your medialibrary?'
VLC then can play the music stored on sdcard...
Also, I could access OSMand maps on sdcard I downloaded a long time ago under a different ROM
Anyway, I attached the screenshot with the instructions from Amaze how to grant access (Amaze opens the standard Files (explorer) to that). Maybe it helps...
edit:
Indeed, dict.cc fails to download to sdcard. But OSMand has no problems at all.
Update
Bugfix:
Background light for hw keys fixed (and configurable)
Other hw buttons (home, back, overview) now configurable
Other (probably) important bugfixes

G'day mongo0,
thx for the reply.
Will try it either today or tomorrow again.
Might be to say farewell to dict.cc.
Thx buddy for the great work
Installed last version and you are absolutely right.
Access to external SD card works fine except using dict.cc. dict.cc doesn't recognize SD card, for whatever reason.
everything works fine so far.
Single prob I am facing right now is, network connection via SIM card (as you have already written in the main post).
As said before, great work, buddy.

Well, thanks for your feedback. It was also interesting for me to do all the rom compiling..
I probably won't update anymore since it looks like rev. 48 is the final one for Oreo, AEX seems to have stopped updating it, and (some of) the bugs are fixed.
hi; how long did it take you to rom installation ?
Because I wait since 1hour and nothing

Did you make full wipe (Dalvik/ART, Cache, System, Data(, Data on ext_sdcard)) with twrp-3.2.3-0-kminilte?
I found 2 issues:
1.)
Backup in WhatsApp is not working, same like in LineageOS 15.1:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78126440&postcount=480
2.)
The display is flickering when dimmed
Great work @mongo0 :good:
Hey ScRe13
Thanks for your feedback.
I can confirm 1.), however I don't see any flickering.
There are some graphical glitches with apps based on apache cordova., apparently..
I did an update 2018-11-11 (resynced sources)
I might give a try to fix the storage issue too
I have testet 2018-11-11, but the chat backup in WhatsApp is still not working.
But the rest of you build is great:good: Incredible fast 8.1 on Samsung S5 mini
Hope you'll release frequent new builds with the current security updates.

thanks to all the above the dream of runing android on i8000 came true. and because of their job we were expecting faster and faster, more and more efficient and smooth versions.
i followed their path. got a version, modified it, combined the best parts of each ROM and i am offering a new ROM much closer to be complete and less beta.
DETAILS ABOUT THE ROM
It is not based on frenkiedroid as far as i know but followed other path onto chinese ROMS. I think it is faster than any other ROM (tell me if not). It has achived score 1035 on antutu on my class 10 sd card (this is almost the speed of a native android phone using cm6 and this fast hardware)
According to measuments made using Benchmark & Tuning it is up to 56% faster compared to the already fast frenkiedroid
Tested
bluetooth
wi-fi
3g
calling
sms
radio
gps
usb connection
battery lasts up to 2 days

You can try either my ROM or twister2 ROM from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2342764
they are both the same level
the fastest is mine
faster GPS in on mine (ms-based preconfigured)
wi-fi i think works a little better on twister
twister has preloaded facebook etc, while mine has only stock apps
mine has business (single) coloured menus while twister has fancy (multi) coloured menus
if you want to install optional apps that have ads and you are not expert on android then install twister
if you want to install apps that do not have ads (or have ads and you are android expert) you can choose mine
please not that some people mentioned that with my ROM their SIM card was not recognized. i am not sure if the same for your SIM, your country.
Only two ROMS to choose. so you need only a few hours to try them both and make your decision. the choise is yours
Samsung i8000 (omnia2) android cm6new rom v4
as I promised long ago to publish
SAMSUNG I8000 (OMNIA2) ANDROID CM6NEW ROM Version 4
- Support even more SIM
- Speed improvement - response
- Corrected some errors
- Upgrading of most programs
- Show ics (ice cream sandwich - android 4.0.X)
- Arrangements for energy savings
The new enhancements took me some time and study. I8000 reaches its limits due to its old drivers that are already written for mobile identical hardware with it.
Hope you like it and I expect opinions and suggestions to version 5 if there will be any further developments. Otherwise I will try to assist in the plan for android 2.3 on our mobile.
Explanation photo below
1 = home screen (the background is black on purpose because the amoled screen thus consumes less energy. If you want to change select another background with as many black dots. Black and not just dark color.)
2 = dialer with ics theme, search function names and support many languagesk. Make it default dialer if you like it
3 = new android ics Task Manager (task manager). Appear with long press of home button. If you do not like replace it with the Advanced Task Manager or ICS Task Manager / Switcher. To open them again by long pressing the central button select Settings / Cyanogenmod Settings / Input / Long-press home settings / select custom application
4 = ics camera
5 = menu ics (holo launcher)
6 = ics settings
For those who want even more contemporary look can choose Active lockscreen or Holo Locker
I tried installing this on my Omnia II.
I successfully create the partitions on my SD card, but when I go to starting the process with the ROM file, it comes back with the error message:
"The image file requires an updated version of this program."
I grabbed the latest version just to try it, and I need to purchase a key to make it work.
Yes, I reset my computer clock to September 1st, 2011. Do i need to reboot the machine after the clock reset?
Everything else so far seems to work fine, and if this works even half as good as I think it will, props to you for getting this done. I hate hate HATE winblows 6.5 on my Omnia II, and always wanted android. I tried a few of the older attempts years ago, but nothing was every stable enough to keep it.
Thanks again for any help.

I tried this program, and again, comes up with the same error message.
I'm getting to the point where I have to change the date, then run image for windows, but it just keeps giving me that error.
I'm running windows Vista, could that be causing the issue? is there any other information I need to change or pay attention too?
I'm literally doing everything step by step, and yet its not working for me.

it's only 542.27 KB. how long time can get to download ?
even if you have dial up or the server is full you need seconds to download it
just make sure the time change is ok and better cut all internet connections before execute the program

I've just tested it, the same problem I had as others already mentioned. I went back to the version 3, success! So I think the version 4 image is damaged or not correctly made. By the way, the version 3 that did work for me has no microsd card support. You should modify by yourself the startup.txt file to enable the sd card support.
Hope my words can be helpful to others.

i made my ROM to be installed on sdcard with sdcard support. Hundreds of users already installed it and no problems at all. i installed V4 again last night and no problem at all. my phone is i8000 8gb version if you install on storage card YES you should edit startup.txt and also edit vold.fstab and fstab files.
if find some free time from android 2.3 development project testings i will make a Version 5 and on this version i hope minor problems to be solved.
I downloaded the newest version of Image for Windows, which is v2.83 (the one in the package is v2.61), the tool to write the image into the partition ext4, and this time, everything went just like a charm.
I have to admit that the V4 image is a very good one. It's really fast and clean. I think the problem that we had before is caused by the lower version of Image for Windows. V2.61 can't load correctly the V4 image file, which I think is made by a higher version of Image for Windows. With the new version of Image for Windows, it's even not necessary to change the date.
The Chiese ringtones in this ROM are hilarious. I'm a Chinese, they are OK with me. But I think original ringtones would be better for common users, hehehe.
great work , will it work on omnia b7610 too !!

technically yes it can run. but i do not own one to test it myself. you can try yourself and tell us your experiences. test on sd card installation first. it it pretty smooth and fast. you will be amazed. in case it will not work you can always check TwisterV2 ROM also very fast and smooth
see here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2342764
alternatively in case you meet some driver conflicts you can always use ubuntu and other ROM's drivers to edit this ROM and make it work for you.

I am facing the same issue, I cannot load my Storage Card.
1. I am confuse with term SD Card here. Is it refer to Storage Card or My Storage? Storage Card means external micro sd card, isn't?
2. I followed the instruction and put the Image to Storage Card. How can I activate the Storage Card Support by editting fstab files? Where can I find these files?
3. I had format Partition 1333Mb to ext4 File System, but I wonder why it always turn to ext3 after I restore TBI file(after ImageRecover step). Is it okay?
Thanks.
Hey there,
somehow XPrivacy is unable to find it's licence file...
I've put it in the root folder of my SD card as described in the activation instructions. (Which seems to map to /storage/sdcard1/XPrivacy_license.txt) But this had no effect.
In the about section XPrivacy tells me it would expect the license file in /storage/sdcard0. (See attached screenshot)
I also copied the license file to that folder without any effect.
Any ideas? Did anyone else have trouble activating XPrivacy on their Fairphone?
Hi seesawCharli,
I did not install a pro version but the normal one which you can choose in Xposed Installer - Downloads.
First it did not work but then I realized, that it must be installed in the internal storage (I did choose intall apps in phone storage before).
After moving it (both Xposed and Xprivacy) to internal storage (via settings - apps), rebooting, activating it in Xposed Installer - Modules, rebooting again - it worked.
I am not sure that would fix the issue in your case - but it may help the next one...
Hi sidingFP, thanks for your answer.
XPrivacy is running fine. In fact so well, I decided to get the pro version
But at first I also had your problem with several other apps until I figured that some apparently need to be installed in the internal storage.
Edit:
Solved it! I had to put the license file in the root of the phone storage, and not the SD card, as the phone storage seems to map to /storage/sdcard0/.
It was really confusing to see another folder called storage/sdcard0/ in the phone storage (so that would map to /storage/sdcard0/storage/sdcard0/), that was the wrong place to put the license file.

Hey there! These are default icons, no customization needed (at least on my Fairphone, I guess they might look different on your Xperia)
From left to right:
WiFi signal strength, this icon appears when you have logged into a wireless network.
Signal strength for 1st SIM card
Signal strength for 2nd SIM card, these two appear only when you have inserted a SIM card. The color can be customized in the options.
Ah okay, thought it was some customization i dont know about but like

Hello,
is possible manually update my tablet to Android 5? I found this
but from ( ROM Part 1 : http://goo.gl/7pyL97 ) this site i cant download ROM
Upgrade/Update Vodafone Smart Tab 4g to 5.0 Lollipop
Upgrade/Update Vodafone Smart Tab 4g to 5.0 Lollipop
I rewrite this tutorial from forum.xda-developers.com :
The users of Vodafone Smart Tab 4g can now update their handsets to Android 5.0 Lollipop using custom ROM. The new Android 5.0 Lollipop comes with many new features :
- Up to 4x performance improvements.
- A battery saver feature which extends device use by up to 90 mins.
- It has a faster, smoother and more powerful computing experience.
- Support for 64-bit SoCs using ARM, x86, and MIPS-based cores.
- OpenGL ES 3.1 and Android extension pack brings Android to the forefront of mobile graphics putting it on par with desktop and console class performance.
- Responsive, natural motion, realistic lighting and shadows, and familiar visual elements make it easier to navigate your device.
- More intelligent ranking of notifications based on who they’re from and the type of communication. See all your notifications in one place by tapping the top of the screen.
- New devices come with encryption automatically turned on to help protect data on lost or stolen devices.
- SELinux enforcing for all applications means even better protection against vulnerabilities and malware.
- State of the art video technology with support for HEVC main profile to allow for UHD 4K 10-bit video playback, tunneled hardware video decoding to save power and improved HLS support for streaming.
- and other cool features.
Here are some more aspects that users should know before trying out the custom ROM :
- Users need to have proper back-up for their personal data on the device.
- The handset should have at least 80 percent of battery power.
- The users also need to ensure that USB Debugging is enabled on the device.
- During the installation, if the device gets stuck on booting, users can perform wipe cache partition and wipe dalvik before rebooting the device.
Tutorial
1. Download Android 5.0 Lollipop ROM for Vodafone Smart Tab 4g from link below :
The ROM File size is big, so I split the file into 3 parts :
ROM Part 1 : http://goo.gl/7pyL97
ROM Part 2 : http://goo.gl/ffHU2x
ROM Part 3 : http://goo.gl/l1zKh5
To combine 3 parts files above into 1 file just use WINRAR, then extract the files into ZIP format. If any problem with the ROM, maybe because the ROM have corrupted during the download process, you can try to re-download the ROM.
2. Install the ROM Manager on your Vodafone Smart Tab 4g . Get it from Google Play Store, then install the clockwork mod recovery. You also can use ROM Installer application from JRummy Apps Inc.(Get it from Google Play Store).
3. Connect your Vodafone Smart Tab 4g to your PC employing the USB information cable. Copy the “ROM.zip” file you downloaded to the SD memory card.
4. Restart your device in the recovery mode using ROM Manager. As soon as in Recovery Mode, go to ROM Manager and select backup/restore to back-up your information.
5. From the Recovery Menu do a total data erase (including Delvik Cache). When completed, go back to Recovery Principal Menu and choose Flash ROM from SD Card. Navigate the location you copied the ”ROM.zip” file and follow the directions for installing Android 5.0 Lollipop on your Vodafone Smart Tab 4g . As soon as the installation is over, just reboot your Vodafone Smart Tab 4g device, and here you go, you’ve just upgraded it to the new Android 5.0 Lollipop.

If you want my opinion, i think that this supposed lollipop version is fake...
On another forum I've seen this and reports that it works.
I don't have the device (still deciding wether to buy it or not) so I can't test it

I have same issue. Apps can work with data on SD Card, for example RawDroid can edit photos, save/delete files. But App2SD functionality is still not supported. It should work with Link2SD app and 2 partitions on SD card. The reason is emulated external storage in internal memory. I didn't find yet how to turn this of, or how to change it.

I've tried Link2SD, but with no success. The best i got was to use MountFolder to move the applications data to the external SD card. With this, I've recovered some good precious space (for example, Minion Rush was using 330MB that where freed).

Thanks for tip FolderMount (play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.devasque.fmount) works like a charm.
If anyone wants the source code, here it is:

It was awesome if we could get a rom for this tablet =)
People say it is based on Alcatel Pop 8S tablet, but I have never seen this tablet on sale, neither original roms, nothing about it.
Only alcatel website has some info about it, but not much: http://www.alcatelonetouch.com/global-en/products/tablets/pop_8s.html#.VOPaQfmsVoc
Anyone managed to remove system apps?
Titanium backup says it can't find the apks..
In Android 4.4, apps can't write the sd-card, it's a security thing. But there are apps, which enables sd write. And yes, we have source, but for ROMs we also need recovery, and a developer. But fingers crossed.

Yes and it is work. Only "bug" after the root is: every time you reboot your tablet you will got a message that says android is upgrade-ing and continues to updating apps. But it is work.

What u mean updating apps.? Updates all apps from store?
No, optimezing. Its that thing when android take an update and after that the apps is optimezed. This happening after each reboot. About the root process: if you use win 8, 8.1 you wont be able to rootbso easly because of the drivers. Try with win xp or 7. My advice: use XP. I did it with it.

So, to get this straight: we can actually root the Vodafone smart tab 4g and flash custom roms??
CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. You will need to provide your own Google Applications package (gapps). CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
Steps to install:
1. Best to do a full wipe of data, cache and system if you want to guarantee no weird issues
2. Install ROM zip, you will get a warning about partition size change of system if its the first time you flash, just flash it a second time to confirm the change, this will erase your data partition!
3. Install gapps
4. Reboot

can i install this directly over Omni 4.4.4 in TWRP?
i did a flash over Omni 4.4.4 after wiping system/data/cache in TWRP. when i try to flash linked gapps (latest v5.0 version) it fails due to "not enough space left". any ideas what i am doing wrong? is there a specific version you suggest OP?
Guys we need more space for /system partition. I will make /system to 900 mb but it needs to wipe data too?
In the next build i will add this patch too.
Thanks

edit: i managed to flash Omni 4.4.4 instead and will upgrade from there.
New build available people ?
Thanks.
Unfortunately during setup ( after the first boot ) the system crashes after setting the wifi password. It tries to establish a connection and suddenly reboots. And since it will boot into setup again ( and doesn't allow to skip this step either ) i had to flash down to cm11.
Also in the 04/11 version in the settings>buttons menu ( where you can turn off the hard keys or set their light on time ) tapping the last two tabs crashes the menu.
Guess it would only be half the fun without all kinds of weird bugs to encounter...
Same here. No luck with beta 1 nor with beta 2. Crashes in setup. So I went to lollipop in CM.

If setup wizard crashs every time, just delete setupwizard.apk from twrp file manager and reboot device again.
Ok, gave it another try. This time it didn't run into a reboot loop, but the setup is still shaky. After the update step it threw me right back to wifi selection, all in all three times, once with a "Google Play services stopped" message. But it worked after that. Still, that bug in Device Settings, causing a crash when tapping the RADIO or VIBRATION tab, remains.

On my note3 is also have to delete setupwizard - seems to be a cm bug that depending on circumstances may strike builds/derived roms.
Adoptive storage/internal sd card issues
Just wondering if there's any way to fully utilize adoptive storage on CM13? I have a 64GB sd-card that was successfully formatted as adoptive storage, but the tablet refuses to fully utilize the space (keeps downloading to the 1GB partition, constantly getting "running out of storage" warnings and can only move the apps to the internal SD card). I tried formatting the 64GB as portable storage, and it does not appear as a destination when trying to move apps (only internal 12GB appears).

I appreciate the idea, but what exactly will app that do? I'm unfamiliar with Swap and most of the terminology used in the description of the app. Plus, I'm really only wondering why the rom itself doesn't utilize the adopted storage when downloading/installing apps and only uses the "external" 12GB internal card.
New build is up
Hello!
This is my first post in this forum, please be indulgent if I don't understand some stuff or abbreviations immediately.
I recently bought a Galaxy A3 2017 (SM-A320FL) to replace my old one with shattered screen and back cover. I tried the new Poco X3 for two weeks, but I wasn't satisfied with it since it was just wayyy too large for me, and also the phone speaker was unbearably loud (all people around me could follow the conversation on phone, even on lowest volume), which then led to the decision of sending it back and buying another used A3 2017 in good condition, as I was very satisfied with it, except of limited internal storage which continued to be an issue over months and years. And since the spare parts would have cost the same as the smartphone costs used at the moment, the decision was easy.
To avoid the single problem I had with the old phone, I wanted to root the phone right from the start so I could adopt the SD card as internal storage and/or change the folder some apps (especially WhatsApp) are storing their data and media in. Since the phone is factory reset and I have the other one which is still functioning, I don't have to take much care while trying things, which is great. I took yesterday evening until late night for that plan, and although a lot of threads and posts I read said that rooting the stock OS with latest update of Android 8 is not possible, I did it after some trial and error with flashing the custom recovery TWRP through Odin and then flashing SuperSU through TWRP. If a tutorial is needed, I'd happily write down how I did it, just ask.
But I still have a problem with adopting the storage. And as far as I understood, this is related to the storage encryption of Android/Samsung. Please explain if someone knows, I'd really like to understand the mechanisms that make all of this so laborious. I tried to mount the storage in TWRP when I started it first after flashing (it persists btw, as some people said it is gone and no recovery system can be found after the phone booted normally once, why?), but ran into the problem of "internal storage (0MB)". This was solved by wiping it, then I was able to mount the SD card as internal storage and the internal storage also was shown with a reasonable size in MB. I then started the phone which was obviously factory reset by the wiping. Unfortunately I couldn't see any results in the OS (does stock Android or file manager even show these changes in some way?) and also noticed the adopted storage was not anymore adopted when inspecting it in the TWRP recovery and again the internal storage was at 0MB. I then stumbled upon the app "Root Essentials" which is said to be able to adopt the storage, but needs a zip file which must be flashed by the recovery for that process. I tried it, but the flashing process does not work, as it can't find an installation of the app - my guess is, that this also is related to encrypted storage and the 0MB problem, how should the flash be able to look for something in encrypted space?
Soo, my problem now is, that I want to adopt the storage and don't know how to continue & where to begin. I also don't know if that app "Root Essentials" is any good, just read it at several places while googling so gave it a try. The phone is rooted with TWRP (0MB problem persisting) and stock OS now, and the adoptable storage per se is no must-have for me - if there is any other solution to migrate apps and more importantly their data to the SD card, please let me know, I'd be perfectly fine with that also.
Thank you!
Flo
Hey there Flo,
I am facing the same issues like you, always having to clear up space (e.g. Chrome cache) because the internal storage is not enough for the apps. And you cannot move many of the apps to the SD card, only their data. Last time I had to rermove Teams altogether because it was eating up 500+MB, and I couldn't afford it anymore as the free space dropped below 600MB.
Sooo, here are some basics I have learnt while looking for solutions.
Current custom ROMs are not an option for me as I use this phone for banking and production tasks, and I could not find any of them stable and issue-free enough to switch from the stock one.
The stock ROM is full of bloatware, especially Samsung stuff I do not need, and some others, like the Facebook app. However, you cannot extend internal storage with your SD card as Samsung does not allow this, and this is impossible with the stock ROM.
So I am stuck here, as I cannot leave the stock ROM, but I am constantly running out of space. Currently, I have rooted my device and installed TWRP, too, and I am planning to try one of the debloated stock ROMs to see if they can solve at least my problem with running out of free space on the internal storage.
In any case, what I can confirm is that you either have the stock ROM, and then you can only install apps on the internal storage, or if you want to extend your internal storage with the SD card, you'll have to choose one of the custom ROMs that allow this and wave goodbye to Knox and some other features.
I hope the above helps.
Hi!
Thanks for your detailed answer!
I didn't find a way to adopt the storage persistently, and I think at this point I'll just take your word that it won't be possible with the stock ROM. I knew that the stock ROM adopt storage option isn't able to be brought back by some adb shell commands as it was possible earlier (until 6.0 Marshmallow I think), but I thought that it maybe is possible by tricking the storage the OS sees with the mount in TWRP before the first start. Doesn't seem to work at all (for mostly unknown reasons, at least for me ).
And same for me, I don't know if the custom ROMs nowadays are better a lot, but doesn't sound like that as you described it. I flashed Resurrection Remix on my Galaxy S4 a few years ago, and although I liked the customizability and slimness, I too often ran into bugs and errors with it, which is why I abandoned the phone in the end.
However, I kind of found a fix I can live with on the SM-A320FL: I downloaded Link2SD from Playstore and also upgraded to the plus version, which is reasonably priced. This enables to also store app data on the SD card. I tried it with the 64GB SD card I had rolling around, partitioned it with MiniTool Partition Wizard following this guide to conform Link2SD requirements, and it worked perfectly. I also uninstalled all sorts of bloatware, and as far as i saw the shift to external storage of the apps I tried works fine. All data, including app, cache and app data is moved (and/or linked, not sure) to the ext2 partition on the SD card (which is shown to be a broken partition in Android storage settings btw, but that's fine). If any, only <1KB of file size per app remains in internal storage, which seems great!
I am currently waiting for my ordered 256GB SD card (U3, A2) to arrive next week, then I will do the full port from the old to the new A3 and I'll see how WhatsApp and Spotify behave being stored in external storage. Hopefully Link2SD is able to shift them, especially WhatsApp, since that was the main factor in cluttering the internal storage very fast and efficient.
If the Link2SD doesn't work for WhatsApp media, I'll give FolderMount a try, the direct mount then seems to work for many.
Since you mentioned it: What are the great features of Knox? The secure folder? Data encryption by screen lock? I can't remember using Knox features knowingly in the past three years. Is Knox not already blown by flashing a custom recovery?
Thanks for your help!
Flo
The internal storage data partition not mounting in TWRP is due to the partition being encypted when Android is booted, but also due to quota being enabled and latest version of TWRP for this phone (3.2.3-0 AFAIK) being unable to mount this. Fix for this is to flash a zip from Zackptg5 which disables both these options. See https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...y-a3-sm-a320f-fl-y-2017.3562302/post-79260952 for full details
I see that OrangeFox is available now (https://orangefox.download/device/a3y17lte), so maybe this is able to mount without these problems, I am going to flash this soon so I will let you know!
FYI I am using H-ROM by Astrako. Very close to stock (it is a port from the A7) and seems to work well. VoWiFI is working in this ROM which was essential for me.

Yes, with OrangeFox I didn't need to flash the zip file from Zackptg5 which removes quota. I didn't get on with the latest H-ROM 6.0 (too many niggles, particularly ambient light sensor doesn't work so no adaptive brightness; fingerprint scanner doesn't work in apps; video call doesn't work in WhatsApp), but OrangeFox worked really well, definitely recommend it. Currently I use H-ROM 2.0 (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...7-port-v2-0-pie-oneui-64-bits-treble.3940532/) which works well. Only two main niggles that I might change back to stock - video doesn't work in WhatsApp (but is OK in WhatsApp Business) and some VoWiFi calls have echo, but this might just be normal for VoWiFi, not had echo on normal cell network calls. Stock ROM is now available with Android 8 (Oreo) so when I have time I was intending to try that again, maybe with debloat to remove some of the stock apps.
I would recommend OrangeFox, and although I started with TWRP and flashed this over the top, I think you should be OK to just flash this straight from Odin. TWRP would only flash in old version of Odin, I would guess OrangeFox maybe would be the same. Flash in AP using older version Odin3 v3.12.10. Untick auto reboot, when complete power off with vol down + power, then force to recovery using volume up, home and power

just to clarify I could use Orange fox with stock rom and enable adopted storage? So I can use SD for apps when necessary.
I did get adopted storage working of sorts, but certain screens were missing from storage in the setting menu (I think Samsung didn't include or removed these as the phone was not intended to work with Adopted Storage), so it would crash when trying to perform certain actions. I can't actually remember now if you could move apps to the Adopted Storage using the standard system menus, it was so flakey that I stopped using that and switched to using Link2SD (which I had already used before so had a Plus license for) and this does exactly what I needed. These are the steps I used to get Link2SD working: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/app-1-6-link2sd.919326/post-82757807. I don't think you need the Plus version, but it doesn't cost much, removes the ads and lets you move a few more files. Hope that helps
