[ROM[BETA][P1][6.0.1][24/05/16][UNOFFICIAL]CyanogenMod 13.0 - Galaxy Tab Android Development

CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. You will need to provide your own Google Applications package (gapps). CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
Steps to install:
1. Best to do a full wipe of data, cache and system if you want to guarantee no weird issues
2. Install ROM zip, you will get a warning about partition size change of system if its the first time you flash, just flash it a second time to confirm the change, this will erase your data partition!
3. Install gapps
4. Reboot

can i install this directly over Omni 4.4.4 in TWRP?
i did a flash over Omni 4.4.4 after wiping system/data/cache in TWRP. when i try to flash linked gapps (latest v5.0 version) it fails due to "not enough space left". any ideas what i am doing wrong? is there a specific version you suggest OP?

Guys we need more space for /system partition. I will make /system to 900 mb but it needs to wipe data too?
In the next build i will add this patch too.
Thanks

Hi feroxxx, thanks for your work
Do you think Bigmem feature from Omnirom is doable on CM13?

Only question: is better omnirom? I think so....
In cyano.:Account google no works! Play store no works. I tried to install theme and this no works. Rotation screen no works (also in omnirom). Browers works bad

OmniRom is more basic so less bugs to expect.

i tried going back to OmniRom 6.0.1 from this CM13. i wiped system/data/cache but TWRP refuses to flash the Omnirom complaining newer build is installed! any ideas? is the OmniRom trying to flash an older TWRP or something? how do i get around it?
edit: i managed to flash Omni 4.4.4 instead and will upgrade from there.

New build available people ?
Thanks.

Unfortunately during setup ( after the first boot ) the system crashes after setting the wifi password. It tries to establish a connection and suddenly reboots. And since it will boot into setup again ( and doesn't allow to skip this step either ) i had to flash down to cm11.
Also in the 04/11 version in the settings>buttons menu ( where you can turn off the hard keys or set their light on time ) tapping the last two tabs crashes the menu.
Guess it would only be half the fun without all kinds of weird bugs to encounter...

Same here. No luck with beta 1 nor with beta 2. Crashes in setup. So I went to lollipop in CM.

If setup wizard crashs every time, just delete setupwizard.apk from twrp file manager and reboot device again.

Ok, gave it another try. This time it didn't run into a reboot loop, but the setup is still shaky. After the update step it threw me right back to wifi selection, all in all three times, once with a "Google Play services stopped" message. But it worked after that. Still, that bug in Device Settings, causing a crash when tapping the RADIO or VIBRATION tab, remains.

On my note3 is also have to delete setupwizard - seems to be a cm bug that depending on circumstances may strike builds/derived roms.

Adoptive storage/internal sd card issues
Just wondering if there's any way to fully utilize adoptive storage on CM13? I have a 64GB sd-card that was successfully formatted as adoptive storage, but the tablet refuses to fully utilize the space (keeps downloading to the 1GB partition, constantly getting "running out of storage" warnings and can only move the apps to the internal SD card). I tried formatting the 64GB as portable storage, and it does not appear as a destination when trying to move apps (only internal 12GB appears).

I appreciate the idea, but what exactly will app that do? I'm unfamiliar with Swap and most of the terminology used in the description of the app. Plus, I'm really only wondering why the rom itself doesn't utilize the adopted storage when downloading/installing apps and only uses the "external" 12GB internal card.

New build is up

Issue:
No BT call.
Broken audio in VOIP (viber, skype, teamspeak etc). Tinyalsa would fix that, but it breaks calls. ( Read this)
Mic key (voice search) works, you need to enable: settings -> system -> hardware keys -> enable custom actions (check) and app switch set to voice search.
To get home key logn press action: settings -> system -> hardware keys -> enable custom actions (check) and home key (long press) set to Recent app switcher
When you upgrade, phone app may not work, you must remove the shourtcut, and readd. (thanks scotte9999)
Sometimes it stuck boot logo (cm,samsung, roger), or boot loop, try to remove battery and wait 4-5minutes, or flash stock ICS with odin, and try again. (report back if any of those works)
Liblight works very simple, when your lcd birghtness low buttons and keyboard light is on. You can use qwertyled or other liblight, read more.

Can I install top of my old rom?
You always could do that, but you must do clean install when report bog.
can´t swap SDCards
edit /sysrem/build.prob and add:
Code:
# Change to 1 for swapping SD cards
persist.sys.vold.switchexternal=1
below
Code:
# Storage configuration
ro.vold.switchablepair=/storage/sdcard0,/storage/sdcard1
You can use recovery installable zip: http://dualhoki.vim.hu/bubor/dev/swap-internalsd-externelsd.zip
gyroscope fix
power off the phone (better remove battery for sure), put on a desk, power on and wait, it shoud calibrate itself.
Fix skype audio
Read this. It will break your call sound, Incoming calls work fine with ring tone on.
Slow io performance
type as root:
echo 0 >/sys/module/sync/parameters/fsync_enabled
You can place in /system/etc/init.d/S99fsync file this code, chmod 775 /system/etc/init.d/S99fsync , Settings will persist, until reinstall the rom.
Its disable fsync, what makes it faster, but you would lost date on crash. Internal sd card was 1.2M/sec, after 6.2M/sec removed in 20131109

well, sorry I really don't know how did I skept this
SIM not detected, but I can make calls and send and recive SMS
edit
No service, insert SIM and reboot
I noticed that the Phone app as well as Local and Navigation apps aren't available. I'm re-downloading the zip and will do a fresh reinstall. Steps I took to upgrade from CM10.1.2:
Using CWM
1) Copy CM10.2 zip to sdcard
2) Backup
3) Wipe data/factory reset
4) Wipe dalvik cache
5) Install CM10.2 from zip
6) Restore data (advanced restore -> restore data)
7) Reboot
All user installed apps were upgraded upon first boot. And they seem to work fine. Even Gmail and Maps works. I can receive calls, and I can make calls from the People app. But when I tap on the Phone app, a message states that the app is not installed. In addition, there is no Local or Navigation app in my app list.

Facelock is absent
Hello.
I'm did clean installation of this ROM and found that Facelock option in screen lock dialog is absent. Is there any way to add it? Can Gapps installation fix this issue?
And is there any way to speed up PicSphere rendering? It takes over 30 minutes for full sphere (64 photos).
Thank You.

Hey bubor, sorry I could not make a reply back "in time" in the other thread, this 2 weeks were crazy for me; I think that the request for logcat from the first build of cm10.2 is now moot. Focal works, wifi works, I have been rocking it with your build (again, dirty flashed 20130828 i live dangeourly but with my backups on the sdcard).
- Feels Barry White smooth.
- Total commander now only sees the internal SDcard by default, I can still access it manually, but it is not "mounting" in the first screen the /mnt/sdcard1 I'm currently trying to google if this is a total commander issue or related to jb 4.3 or cm 10.2. I cant even find a workaround to manually add it, yet. Anyone else using TC and is now missing the external sd in the main screen?
- Made and receive phone calls as usual, used BT for music with my headset, used the in-ear wired too (the original ones). (also I never could figure out what the button on the mic does other than it is context based),
Overall, the things I use and do with it, so far they work great.
Awesome! I thought my glide would be stuck at Android 4.2, thanks for working on this!
I'll be trying this firmware out as soon as possible.

No, I ask because I'm planning a trip to Mexico and I need a SIM phone. I already have the Gravity 2 unlocked, but I've always been fascinated with this phone as well as the Galaxy Relay 4G. The Captivate Glide is turning into the little engine that could so I'm keeping an eye on any progress made on the ROM front for this phone.
Or for another $100 I could get a Galaxy S4 I9505 clone and just buy a bluetooth keyboard, but...kinda don't want to go that route (I'd rather get a REAL I9505). Plus the Glide is fairly cheap, under $200 at NewEgg. Its the discontinued phone that...continues.

CM 13 on Note 2 (N7100) The beauty of Marshmallow - My Review so far!

This is my personal experience with CM13 by Ivan meler
It may vary from your own experience but this can
Be very useful for everyone interested in using
Marshmallow on note 2. Am not responsible for any
Outcome whatsoever that may come by applying
Anything stated here on your phone, do it at your own
Risk

THE MYTH
YOU HAVE TO WIPE EVERYTHING Including your internal sdcard.
You don't have to wipe your internal sdcard to install Marshmallow CM13
For me, Marshmallow is everything that lollipop should be!
Great credits to XDA, CM and all the developers here who tirelessly
Worked to make lollipop better, in my opinion, I think that
Google gathered most of these fixes and implemented it into
the Marshmallow.
FLASHING MARSHMALLOW CM13
There's a lot of things that could look confusing about
Flashing CM13 but it's not as complicated as many had
Made it look.
THE DO'S AND DON'T
Don't leave your external in the the phone while running CM13 you
Won't like the outcome
Don't attempt dirty flash of CM13 On CM12.1
Don't format only system partition before flashing CM13
HOW TO FLASH CM13
I used Philz touch but TWRP recovery can Still do it. put the CM13 zip in the internal memory
If you're using philz recovery use clean to install new Rom. if you're using TWRP format /system, /data, /cache, /preload
Flash CM13 Zip
Here comes the gapps issues time: make sure that you have any other keyboard apk in your internal phone memory
If you reboot the system now everything will work well without gapps.
there are two different outcomes: if you flash CM13, (don't wipe cache or dalvik) flash gapps (i used open gapps full and slim zero mini) and reboot system
this means you won't be stuck setup wizard but In some cases you may still have AOSP keyboard unfortunately has stopped, disable it and install the keyboard apk you have in your phone memory
If you flash CM13 reboot the system before flashing gapps, you will face setup wizard issue and possibly Aosp keyboard issue whenever you flash gapps.
NEW DEVELOPMENT
Credits to @psndna88 the latest Angi kernel pureCM 4.4.9 (with SELinux permissive)
Makes it possible to use external sdcard and otg in CM13 but don't get so excited!
With Angi kernel 4.4.9 pureCM your external sdcard can be in your phone with
CM13 running perfectly but you can't use your sdcard files as normally as you do before. No app can see the sdcard (gallery and music player inclusive) the only way
You can access sdcard and OTG is via system settings - storage & USB. You can copy
Anything back to the internal memory - that's all you can do!
THE NEW FEATURES
There's no difference in the UI but many interesting changes and modifications in the system
#The multi window cut my attention although we had it in TW but its every welcomed
#Google now on tap is Nice
#Dose mode works but with full (stock) gapps I lost 6% of battery over night
Dose with slim gapps is way better with 2% battery loss over night
#Improvement on WiFi - unlike CM12.1 my WiFi can connect to a new network
While the phone is sleeping
#Dailer improvements - you can copy numbers that you just typed inside dailer
#Audio Fx improvement - combination of Angi kernel and Audio Fx was something Else in Marshmallow, so so sweet, dynamic and powerful.
#System animation, transition and scrolling lot better.
#Google settings now inside system settings
#default root works just fine but if you can't live with the # sign on status bar flash superSU
#App permission is way better - no matter the amount of permission an app requires you can choose to deny all or unnecessary permissions all by yourself.
#Even the android default Easter egg game has improved. I scored 14 on second attempt, never got 3 in lollipop
And many more options.
#I couldn't find System UI tuner in Ivan meler CM13
My Verdict
If you can't live without sdcard, wait for next updates
This is what lollipop should have been
It's a good improvement on lollipop.
The charging slowly that shows on the lock screen is a bug (it shows on both stock CM and Angi kernel) but the charging current is OK and the battery charges rapidly.

@saggi2015 Samsung and most OEM are interested in
Making profit. They want to force you to use not 4 or 5
Even when your note 2 can still serve your well. It was the
Disappointment of note 2 not getting lollipop from
Samsung that moved me to xda. Today am using
Android 6.0.1 but Samsung said we should get stocked in
4.4.2
Am currently using Resurrection Remix marshmallow and it already Rock stable and daily driver on its 1st release. Everything works fine.
Very true... I highly agree with u

Most time you don't uninstall gapps. The bug free
Way is to wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, format
/system partition flash the ROM again and flash the
New gapps you want to use.
Full gapps consumes more battery
I'll recommend slim mini gapps. Abt 172mb and it
Has Google now on tap
Thanks
have you tried DMD Panorama app with this rom? it`s not working...and not only this one app, but most of pano apps are not working, on any custom rom...only on stock 4.4.2 is working ok....it`s a very anoying bug

There are many apps that are not Marshmallow ready.
The new permission system in Marshmallow requires
Devs to update their apps to work better.
Alternatively, you can clear app cache and/or data
And give it permissions manually. If it doesn't work,
Take a logcat and the rom Dev or any other member
Can help you out....

nothing will work to make this app and most panorama app to work...not even on CM 12.1, or any other custom rom....on the stock rom it works perfectly
I flashed Marshmallow on N7105 yesterday (the unofficial version) and I can't recognize any problems with leaving external in while flashing or any problems afterwards.
I did the cm 13
but when i came to flash gapps i stuck here,i am using twrp and the message appear was mds not match, aborting zip install, the gapps file which i download was ARM 6.0 SUPER

First, md5 is used to check if the file is correctly copied
Or downloaded. In very rare cases it might be wrong while
The file is ok.
Try flashing the gapps zip again but this time uncheck the
md5 checksum in TWRP recovery. If it fails then the zip
Files is corrupt.
Try re-downloading the the gapps zip file. I will
Recommend slim mini gapps or open gapps mini

CHANGELOG
WARNING!
This is a Virtually Repartitioned ROM!
What this means is that you will need to take some special steps to flash this ROM. Don't worry, it's not that hard, and you will be able to return to stock with Odin at any time. The cool thing is that it will support a ton of app and app data storage and will behave like a more modern device.
The basic idea with virtual repartitioning is that the partitions are renumbered from the stock numbering, but not resized. So the most important parts of this are (as an FYI, you don't need to know this ):
-The 2GB /data partition becomes a most adequate 2GB /system partition for the ROM and GApps.
-The 12GB Internal SD partition becomes /data, so you have that space to install apps.
It is strongly recommended to use an External SD card to store the ROM/flashing files and for backups, etc., however it is not mandatory. If you do not have an External SD and you need to format the /data and /Internal storage partitions, you will have to copy the files you need from your PC again. Easy peasy, right?
FAQ/NOTES:
When formatting the device, first go to the Mount menu and make sure none of the partitions you want to format are mounted. If they are, formatting will fail.
Make sure you have NOT selected Mount USB Storage, and that the MTP button says "Enable MTP", which means it is DISABLED. If either of these are enabled, then formatting may fail.
The /system partition is formatted as EXT4.
The /data and /cache partitions can be formatted as either EXT4 or F2FS.
The Internal Storage should be formatted as EXT4 or F2FS.
The External SD card (if you have one) would be best formatted as FAT, which you can do in your computer. When the ROM boots, it will detect the card and offer you one of two different ways to use it, as "Internal storage" that will only work with your device for security (requires formatting and encryption by Android), or as "Portable storage" that will work in other devices.
CAUTION: With Internal, you will have to entirely format your card if you have issues and it can not be used in ANY other device. In fact, it will become invisible in file managers because it becomes an extension to the Internal SD card storage. Format the ExternalSD card to Internal Format at your own risk.
When formatting /data, the default behavior is that /data/media is not deleted. In order to wipe /data/media, you need to either go to TWRP > Wipe > Advanced wipe > Format data, or delete the folder manually through the file manager in TWRP.
TWRP > Wipe > Advanced wipe > Format data is also needed if you plan to use device encryption, because this step allows for a space at the end of /data to contain the encryption information. Without this, encryption will fail!
IMPORTANT: If you have flashed a modified PIT file, flash back the STOCK PIT. You can also return to stock by using Odin and a Factory Image.
If you are trying to get back to the stock partitioning:
Flash a stock TWRP recovery ZIP or IMG file, or use Odin to push a TAR recovery over. After doing this you need to reboot your device into Recovery to load up the newly flashed version, and format each of the partitions to their defaults (ext4, for the most part). If you encounter errors formatting, reboot back into Recovery and try again.
Check SamMobile.com for stock ROM packages. (There is a Stock ROM version in my AFH account which should be used for recovery purposes only.) Odin should also find the device if it's in download mode and you can flash a stock ROM back on it if you want.
If you are not sure you used the correct recovery or you just want to check the partition structure (I may ask for this), you can run each of these commands from an adb prompt, and save the output to a file for linking in the thread for help/analysis:
blkid
cat /proc/mounts
df
INSTALLATION STEPS:
Here is what you need to do; please follow the below steps carefully!
Connect your device to your computer and FULLY BACK UP YOUR FILES from both your Internal and External Storage!
While you are backing up your files, download the following files to your computer:
A custom TWRP recovery for virtually partitioned ROMs (see Post 2).
The ROM zip file (see Post 2).
A 6.0 Gapps package, pico recommended for now. (optional - see Post 2).
Copy all of these files to your device's External SD card. If you don't have an External SD card, then you will need to copy them over from your computer after formatting your internal storage.
MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP!
Using your EXISTING RECOVERY, format /system, /data, /cache and /Internal Storage.
Flash a VIRTUAL REPARTITIONED RECOVERY.
REBOOT to Recovery to use the new one.
Select Wipe > Advanced Wipe > System, then press the "Repair or change file system" button. Choose "Change File System" and select EXT4. Swipe to apply.
Press the back button and verify the Size: and Free: values at the top. The System partition should be 2GB. Press the Repair button and swipe to apply.
For good measure, now press the Resize button and swipe to apply.
Repeat steps 1-3 for the Data partition, choosing EXT4 or F2FS as the file system, then Repair and finally Resize.
Repeat steps 1-3 for the Cache partition, choosing EXT4 or F2FS as the file system, then Repair and finally Resize.
Reboot to Recovery and wipe /system again.
Flash the CandySiX zip
Flash Gapps (nano or pico Open GApps or BaNks ones, etc.). You may have to experiment a little.
Reboot and Enjoy
Please give first boot a good several minutes. If you get stuck at the boot animation for a long time, try removing your ExternalSD card and reboot without it.
IMPORTANT - PROBLEMS/ISSUES:
If you have issues, I need the following:
Logs from you (logcat, last_kmsg, dmesg) linked to on pastebin.com or hasteb.in, showing the failure.
A clear description of the steps that I need to take to exactly reproduce the problem.
State what flavor build you are on: CMTE, Layers, OMS, etc...
Please DO NOT complain about problems and offer nothing to help fix it. I reserve the right to ignore you for not following insructions...
NO ETA REQUESTS!
Special thanks to @gimmeitorilltell, @bryan2894, CyanogenMod, SlimRoms, Omni and all the rest who make their source open, we can't do this on our own.

FAQ/Info
Due to several requests, here is some further information...
DISABLE HARDWARE CAPACITIVE KEYS AND LIGHTS
NOTE: This information is now outdated, as I've added ROM features for it. I'll leave it here, but hidden for now...
Several have asked about this. I am working on an in-ROM setting for each, but I simply haven't had the time. For now you can do it manually if you like.
If you decide to try/use the following instructions, please understand that you do this entirely at your own risk
Some people like to use the NavBar soft keys (on-screen). If this is you, below you will find some commands you can use to disable the built-in Hardware Keys and Hardware Key Lights.
***NOTE: Both the HW Keys switch and the HW Key Lights switch are a WIP and do not currently work properly!
Using adb or a terminal emulator app (or the built-in one that you can install in your app drawer by enabling Settings > Developer Options > Local terminal), issue the commands under the HW Keys option you want to apply.
For each item listed, copy/paste or type the commands, one line at a time, and EXACTLY as they are shown. Press ENTER after each command.
Open adb or the terminal emulator app and issue the following commands to start a shell with root access. Press ENTER after each command.
(Be sure to accept any Superuser root access propmpts you receive while doing this.)
Code:
adb shell
su root
Now issue one or a combination of the following:
To DISABLE Hardware Touch KEYS:
Code:
echo 0 > /sys/class/sec/sec_touchkey/keypad_enable
To ENABLE Hardware Touch KEYS:
Code:
echo 1 > /sys/class/sec/sec_touchkey/keypad_enable
You should be able to use the ScreenFilter app from the Play Store to disable the HW Key lights. You can even disable the Screen Filter notifications if you like (long-press on the notification, then select the "i" button), but beware this could trick you later.
Enjoy!
Let me know how this works out for you folks. I still need Mobile Data tested and please remember it's Alpha right now, so I need logs when things aren't working.
Thanks for your work. I'm excited for testing this rom.

It is a WIP right now, and there will be more Candy goodness added soon... Hopefully everything works for the Herc since I don't own one (but I have a Skyrocket and have actually flashed Herc ROMs on it )
Stand by... new build compiling now... seems something was missing for Mobile Data to work. I'll update the d/l link when ready.
EDIT: New build is up, and Mobile Data works. Happy New Year!
@NoSpamDan
candy6, thanks for the great work , u really rock man
Just a heads-up, make sure you grab this build or newer for now: CandySiX-alpha-hercules-OFFICIAL-0101-06.zip
(The previous "UNOFFICIAL" builds had broken vendor blobs and no mobile data.)
EDIT: I have updated Post 2 with a modified BanKs Dynamic GApps version that has the keyboard libraries removed. Temporarily fixes the AOSP keyboard FC. You can get Google Keyboard after setting up your account on the Play Store...
Gonna try this soon.
My assessments after set up.............this rom is rocking crazy fast than cm13 (no offense) even when browsing and using play store.
Issues for me:
1. One issue is the constant show of "sd card" info after reboot (am cool with that for now).
2. No navigation bar toggle (my captivative navigation is off and I use on screen navigation to get around everytime).
3. No DPI change option (Know will come with time as above but I hate the 240 default ,too big for me)
But with Xposed, I managed to fix all of the above with the exception of "sd card" constant nagging.
This rom rocks, will update if I find any issues.
Thanks.

I would call those preferences, not issues...
1. Swipe away the notification unless you have not initially set up the card (you didn't quote the notification message you are getting).
2. Nav bar is in the next build... are your touch light buttons broken?
3. DPI may be forthcoming, not sure.
EDIT: Navbar does not appear to be present in the new build. Looking into it.
New build is up in Post 2: CandySiX-alpha-hercules-OFFICIAL-0102-16.zip
This one has Quick Settings Tile Customization, Status Bar mods, Battery mods... more features to come in the near future!

About the first build if we talk about performance, you can put beta because the rom works super fast. For a fledgling rom it is excellent. It would alfa because it lacks certain configurations and features (such as screen capture, buttons Turn off lights ...) but it is significant that installs Facebook, which in other roms including lollipop did not occur. Thanks!

Depends what version you are runnig because Vol Dn. + Power has always been for screenshot, plus in my last build, there were Power menu customizations like Screen Shot for those who prefer that method. Look in Settings > Candy Interface.
CandySiX was maturing on the previous CyanogenMod base but the decision was made to switch to an AOSP base. Come CAF repos are needed and still some CM too, but things are speeding back into shape! Next build should have NavBar (I hope). Will be testing soon.
New build up in Post 2 with working Navigation Bar and some other things - CandySiX-alpha-hercules-OFFICIAL-0103-04.zip. Things will be slowing down here shortly once I return to work...
New build with more features is in Post 2: CandySiX-alpha-hercules-OFFICIAL-0105-05.zip
Sorry, no time to outline the changes but should have Quick Unlock, new boot animation and several other updates...
EDIT: Seems like there is no boot animation, but it indeed boots...
I'm looking into it, but in the interim you can flash the stock Google one:

Flashed the bootanimation zip now stuck in bootloop..
Anyways awesome ROM!
Fast and stable
Thanks for this.. =)
2 issues though: a) phone reboots when using camera flash (perhaps on low battery)
b) external SD card is not mounted it only shows as a portable storage - no ext SD in gallery etc.

Bootloop? Please explain further, because it's not the boot animation file. I personally flashed the boot animation zip found in the downloads section and it works perfectly.
If you get in bootloop or have a camera flash issue (if it wasn't because of low battery), plug the device into your PC and get a dmesg log while in an adb shell, or reboot to recovery and pull a /proc/last_kmsg log. Also log the issue with logcat and post the logs on pastebin, providing the links here please. I can't fix what I can't reproduce or see in a log.
If you formatted your external SD card as portable that is how it will be used... (not as internal). Try reformatting it within the ROM.
Cheers!

Honestly, I didn't know that marshmallow has introduced the new portable function for External SD. I was looking for the old way of External SD mount (I don't know what to call it.) again it was my fault.

I didn't post the logs because the problems were caused by my side. I shouldn't have disabled some apps and flashed boot animation after using the rom.
As you might have figured out i'm a noob (guilty! I know I deserve to die! =P ), one more thing, there's no youtube, calender, calculator and browser apps included in the package/rom. Or is it just me?
This is a perfect rom.
Many Thanks!

Hello,
I just checked SD (external) storage and here it is accessible (I can create and delete files&folders). Do use it as internal storage?
you need to give permission for 3rd party apps like amaze (it did not work the first time)

Yes, I tried to use SD card as internal but also as external device.
I also confirm that folders can be created and files can be copied and erased.
But if I want to acces the external card with any APP (likt dict.cc) which needs access to external SD card, it says memory is not accessible.
Just give me a hint, how shall I give permission to 3rd party apps?
Do I set Memory access is in security section in the settings, because this does not work.
Or do I have to access any config file using a terminal?
Thx for your reply, mate.

I'm thinking that dict.cc app is a broken or not fully supporting Oreo. It doesn't even start properly here..( all white or black screen, then, after a long time, a search bar that is not really working ) and 'dict.cc isn't responding' as well as 'GENERIC ERROR' something (at least on first start).
But, eventually I got it to change the directory: (changed Data Storage Location to /storage/3451-1301/). Even though dict.cc said it didn't work...
All the other apps I tried can also access sdcard:
I inserted SD card and started VLC and get this message:
'New external storage detected. Do you want VLC to add device sdcard1 to your medialibrary?'
VLC then can play the music stored on sdcard...
Also, I could access OSMand maps on sdcard I downloaded a long time ago under a different ROM
Anyway, I attached the screenshot with the instructions from Amaze how to grant access (Amaze opens the standard Files (explorer) to that). Maybe it helps...
edit:
Indeed, dict.cc fails to download to sdcard. But OSMand has no problems at all.
Update
Bugfix:
Background light for hw keys fixed (and configurable)
Other hw buttons (home, back, overview) now configurable
Other (probably) important bugfixes

G'day mongo0,
thx for the reply.
Will try it either today or tomorrow again.
Might be to say farewell to dict.cc.
Thx buddy for the great work
Installed last version and you are absolutely right.
Access to external SD card works fine except using dict.cc. dict.cc doesn't recognize SD card, for whatever reason.
everything works fine so far.
Single prob I am facing right now is, network connection via SIM card (as you have already written in the main post).
As said before, great work, buddy.

Well, thanks for your feedback. It was also interesting for me to do all the rom compiling..
I probably won't update anymore since it looks like rev. 48 is the final one for Oreo, AEX seems to have stopped updating it, and (some of) the bugs are fixed.
hi; how long did it take you to rom installation ?
Because I wait since 1hour and nothing

That's definitely too long; it should only take 5-7 minutes...
Did you make full wipe (Dalvik/ART, Cache, System, Data(, Data on ext_sdcard)) with twrp-3.2.3-0-kminilte?
I found 2 issues:
1.)
Backup in WhatsApp is not working, same like in LineageOS 15.1:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78126440&postcount=480
2.)
The display is flickering when dimmed
Great work @mongo0 :good:
Hey ScRe13
Thanks for your feedback.
I can confirm 1.), however I don't see any flickering.
There are some graphical glitches with apps based on apache cordova., apparently..
I did an update 2018-11-11 (resynced sources)
I might give a try to fix the storage issue too
I have testet 2018-11-11, but the chat backup in WhatsApp is still not working.
But the rest of you build is great:good: Incredible fast 8.1 on Samsung S5 mini
Hope you'll release frequent new builds with the current security updates.
Hello,i have installed the Magisk-v18.1. i have no Root

Rooted A320FL, how to achieve permanently mounted adoptable storage?

Hello!
This is my first post in this forum, please be indulgent if I don't understand some stuff or abbreviations immediately.
I recently bought a Galaxy A3 2017 (SM-A320FL) to replace my old one with shattered screen and back cover. I tried the new Poco X3 for two weeks, but I wasn't satisfied with it since it was just wayyy too large for me, and also the phone speaker was unbearably loud (all people around me could follow the conversation on phone, even on lowest volume), which then led to the decision of sending it back and buying another used A3 2017 in good condition, as I was very satisfied with it, except of limited internal storage which continued to be an issue over months and years. And since the spare parts would have cost the same as the smartphone costs used at the moment, the decision was easy.
To avoid the single problem I had with the old phone, I wanted to root the phone right from the start so I could adopt the SD card as internal storage and/or change the folder some apps (especially WhatsApp) are storing their data and media in. Since the phone is factory reset and I have the other one which is still functioning, I don't have to take much care while trying things, which is great. I took yesterday evening until late night for that plan, and although a lot of threads and posts I read said that rooting the stock OS with latest update of Android 8 is not possible, I did it after some trial and error with flashing the custom recovery TWRP through Odin and then flashing SuperSU through TWRP. If a tutorial is needed, I'd happily write down how I did it, just ask.
But I still have a problem with adopting the storage. And as far as I understood, this is related to the storage encryption of Android/Samsung. Please explain if someone knows, I'd really like to understand the mechanisms that make all of this so laborious. I tried to mount the storage in TWRP when I started it first after flashing (it persists btw, as some people said it is gone and no recovery system can be found after the phone booted normally once, why?), but ran into the problem of "internal storage (0MB)". This was solved by wiping it, then I was able to mount the SD card as internal storage and the internal storage also was shown with a reasonable size in MB. I then started the phone which was obviously factory reset by the wiping. Unfortunately I couldn't see any results in the OS (does stock Android or file manager even show these changes in some way?) and also noticed the adopted storage was not anymore adopted when inspecting it in the TWRP recovery and again the internal storage was at 0MB. I then stumbled upon the app "Root Essentials" which is said to be able to adopt the storage, but needs a zip file which must be flashed by the recovery for that process. I tried it, but the flashing process does not work, as it can't find an installation of the app - my guess is, that this also is related to encrypted storage and the 0MB problem, how should the flash be able to look for something in encrypted space?
Soo, my problem now is, that I want to adopt the storage and don't know how to continue & where to begin. I also don't know if that app "Root Essentials" is any good, just read it at several places while googling so gave it a try. The phone is rooted with TWRP (0MB problem persisting) and stock OS now, and the adoptable storage per se is no must-have for me - if there is any other solution to migrate apps and more importantly their data to the SD card, please let me know, I'd be perfectly fine with that also.
Thank you!
Flo
Hey there Flo,
I am facing the same issues like you, always having to clear up space (e.g. Chrome cache) because the internal storage is not enough for the apps. And you cannot move many of the apps to the SD card, only their data. Last time I had to rermove Teams altogether because it was eating up 500+MB, and I couldn't afford it anymore as the free space dropped below 600MB.
Sooo, here are some basics I have learnt while looking for solutions.
Current custom ROMs are not an option for me as I use this phone for banking and production tasks, and I could not find any of them stable and issue-free enough to switch from the stock one.
The stock ROM is full of bloatware, especially Samsung stuff I do not need, and some others, like the Facebook app. However, you cannot extend internal storage with your SD card as Samsung does not allow this, and this is impossible with the stock ROM.
So I am stuck here, as I cannot leave the stock ROM, but I am constantly running out of space. Currently, I have rooted my device and installed TWRP, too, and I am planning to try one of the debloated stock ROMs to see if they can solve at least my problem with running out of free space on the internal storage.
In any case, what I can confirm is that you either have the stock ROM, and then you can only install apps on the internal storage, or if you want to extend your internal storage with the SD card, you'll have to choose one of the custom ROMs that allow this and wave goodbye to Knox and some other features.
I hope the above helps.
Hi!
Thanks for your detailed answer!
I didn't find a way to adopt the storage persistently, and I think at this point I'll just take your word that it won't be possible with the stock ROM. I knew that the stock ROM adopt storage option isn't able to be brought back by some adb shell commands as it was possible earlier (until 6.0 Marshmallow I think), but I thought that it maybe is possible by tricking the storage the OS sees with the mount in TWRP before the first start. Doesn't seem to work at all (for mostly unknown reasons, at least for me ).
And same for me, I don't know if the custom ROMs nowadays are better a lot, but doesn't sound like that as you described it. I flashed Resurrection Remix on my Galaxy S4 a few years ago, and although I liked the customizability and slimness, I too often ran into bugs and errors with it, which is why I abandoned the phone in the end.
However, I kind of found a fix I can live with on the SM-A320FL: I downloaded Link2SD from Playstore and also upgraded to the plus version, which is reasonably priced. This enables to also store app data on the SD card. I tried it with the 64GB SD card I had rolling around, partitioned it with MiniTool Partition Wizard following this guide to conform Link2SD requirements, and it worked perfectly. I also uninstalled all sorts of bloatware, and as far as i saw the shift to external storage of the apps I tried works fine. All data, including app, cache and app data is moved (and/or linked, not sure) to the ext2 partition on the SD card (which is shown to be a broken partition in Android storage settings btw, but that's fine). If any, only <1KB of file size per app remains in internal storage, which seems great!
I am currently waiting for my ordered 256GB SD card (U3, A2) to arrive next week, then I will do the full port from the old to the new A3 and I'll see how WhatsApp and Spotify behave being stored in external storage. Hopefully Link2SD is able to shift them, especially WhatsApp, since that was the main factor in cluttering the internal storage very fast and efficient.
If the Link2SD doesn't work for WhatsApp media, I'll give FolderMount a try, the direct mount then seems to work for many.
Since you mentioned it: What are the great features of Knox? The secure folder? Data encryption by screen lock? I can't remember using Knox features knowingly in the past three years. Is Knox not already blown by flashing a custom recovery?
Thanks for your help!
Flo
The internal storage data partition not mounting in TWRP is due to the partition being encypted when Android is booted, but also due to quota being enabled and latest version of TWRP for this phone (3.2.3-0 AFAIK) being unable to mount this. Fix for this is to flash a zip from Zackptg5 which disables both these options. See https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...y-a3-sm-a320f-fl-y-2017.3562302/post-79260952 for full details
I see that OrangeFox is available now (https://orangefox.download/device/a3y17lte), so maybe this is able to mount without these problems, I am going to flash this soon so I will let you know!
FYI I am using H-ROM by Astrako. Very close to stock (it is a port from the A7) and seems to work well. VoWiFI is working in this ROM which was essential for me.

Yes, with OrangeFox I didn't need to flash the zip file from Zackptg5 which removes quota. I didn't get on with the latest H-ROM 6.0 (too many niggles, particularly ambient light sensor doesn't work so no adaptive brightness; fingerprint scanner doesn't work in apps; video call doesn't work in WhatsApp), but OrangeFox worked really well, definitely recommend it. Sorry for not remembering to come back and update sooner!

Currently I use H-ROM 2.0 (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...7-port-v2-0-pie-oneui-64-bits-treble.3940532/) which works well. Only two main niggles that I might change back to stock - video doesn't work in WhatsApp (but is OK in WhatsApp Business) and some VoWiFi calls have echo, but this might just be normal for VoWiFi, not had echo on normal cell network calls. Stock ROM is now available with Android 8 (Oreo) so when I have time I was intending to try that again, maybe with debloat to remove some of the stock apps.
I would recommend OrangeFox, and although I started with TWRP and flashed this over the top, I think you should be OK to just flash this straight from Odin. TWRP would only flash in old version of Odin, I would guess OrangeFox maybe would be the same. Flash in AP using older version Odin3 v3.12.10. Untick auto reboot, when complete power off with vol down + power, then force to recovery using volume up, home and power

just to clarify I could use Orange fox with stock rom and enable adopted storage? So I can use SD for apps when necessary.
I did get adopted storage working of sorts, but certain screens were missing from storage in the setting menu (I think Samsung didn't include or removed these as the phone was not intended to work with Adopted Storage), so it would crash when trying to perform certain actions. I can't actually remember now if you could move apps to the Adopted Storage using the standard system menus, it was so flakey that I stopped using that and switched to using Link2SD (which I had already used before so had a Plus license for) and this does exactly what I needed. These are the steps I used to get Link2SD working: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/app-1-6-link2sd.919326/post-82757807. I don't think you need the Plus version, but it doesn't cost much, removes the ads and lets you move a few more files. Hope that helps
