Need some Information regarding Redmi note 5 AI - Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro Questions & Answers

Hey guys, I need your help. I wish to buy Redmi Note 5 ai 3/32gb (money is an issue otherwise I would've gone for 4/64gb) within a month but I need some information. Could you please provide me information?
1. How much SOT do you usually get with Android Pie based custom ROMs with or without custom kernels?
2. Would I face any lag or Fps drops with 3gb variant while playing Pubg and Heroes Evolved (Mobile Legend like game)?
3. With what graphics requirement do you can play pubg?
4. Does Note 5 ai support QC3.0? I know Xiaomi ships it with qc2.0 adapter cable but I have QC3.0 adapters from my previous device and I will buy qc3.0 cable if it does.
5. How much time does it take to charge from 15% to 80% with stock charger?
Thank you, I really appreciate your answer.

1 . Gaming+normal usage i usually get 5-6hr+ s0t .
2 . With HE i never face any fps drop ,60fps mode. On pubg custom gfx setting 60fps+hd , there tiny lag sometimes .
3. ----
4. Qc 2.0 confirmed .
5. 2hour++

Redmi Note 5 AI has quick charge 3.0
Less than 1hour 15mins to charge from 15 to 80%
With WI-FI browsing we can get 10+ hours SOT
With 4G browsing 7+hours SOT can be achieved easily with two days battery life

Its way to low than what I wanted. I guess I may end up waiting for Redmi note 7 as redmi note 6 is just a Redmi note 5 with an ugly notch. Thank you anyway.

not ugly memeui. I am asking for Pie based custom roms.

I dont think your expectations are realistic when buying a phone for 140usd.. Games run just fine, not at best settings, but good enough. Battery is amazing, and if 6hours of gaming in 1 charge is not good for you, then no device will be good enough, because its a good result. Well except for tablets, or something like mi max 3.

What you're telling $140, its $220 approx while purchasing in our country. 6 hour nonstop gaming is definitely OK but someone mentioned he got 6hour sot with gaming+light usage, that's what bugging me. And I mentioned Android pie custom roms. I saw battery life starts to get deteriorated with newer android version than the phone's original Android version.

Well its your country tax then, but that doesnt change the fact that phone cost 140usd in all eshops. And yes, battery life with custom roms is not as good as stock, not by much, but worse. But its only logical, throughout 10 years of flashing custom roms it was always the same story no matter which phone. As i said before, if this phone is not good enough in this price for you, then i doubt that any phone will be, because atleast in europe, nothing comes even close to price/performance/quality of RN5.

Honor 8 pro after oreo update

Hi,
Any honor user can answer following questions.
1. How's the battery life after Oreo update(system on time)?
2.Heating issue while using camera?
3. bootloader can be unlocked?
Which one to consider to buy Redmi Note 5 pro or Honor 8 pro?
Currently am using OnePlus 2, so looking for mobile which doesn't having heating issue and has better battery backup.
Honor 8 pro users need your inputs.
To answer your questions!! Redmi note 5 pro and honor 8 pro are both in different segments... If raw performance and camera are to be taken into account...honor 8 pro wins by a lot...as for sot i can pull about 6.5 hrs with a mix of 4g and wifi and about 7hrs on wifi...if i game heavily it obviously goes down to around 5hrs 45 m8ns or so... You probably don't need a camera review it is really good... Bootloader can be unlocked still but as Huawei have mentioned they will close the servers after two months or so... When using camera for more than say 10-12 mins the place near camera module does feel warm i would not say it heats up... You can't keep the camera on for a prolonged period if you're not recording because the camera turns off and the heat goes away!! I'll attach a screenshot of the sot for ya!!

Thanks buddy for your reply....
i noticed we lost the call record feature...
For me Honor 8 Pro Oreo (EMUI 8) did not bring a positive experience.
1. Camera is good but the top edge of the phone does heat up quite a bit if you're clicking continuously.
2. Battery life is really poor in my opinion. Apparently, the Oreo-based EMUI 8 totally shipwrecked the battery backup, at least the C675 (India) variant. I can barely manage 6.5 hours of SoT with regular usage, with around 10% charge left. I am having to charge my phone more than once in 24 hours. Also, the phone becomes warm randomly.
There are also quite a number of bugs that came with it.
I recommend you do visit the Honor Club forum here: https://club.hihonor.com/in/lead-the-pack-honor-8-pro.309 and hang around there a little before you take your decision.

Redmi Note 5 compared to Redmi Note 3

Hi everyone,
my Oneplus 3 is history as of yesterday. I really liked it for the past years, but now I need something new.
My priorities have somewhat shifted so tge Oneplus 6 is just to expensive imho atm.
I had a Redmi Note 3 these past years as a backup phone and besides a few flaws it performed well enough.
Therefore I'd be thankful if some of you can shed light on a few things which may have changed with the Redmi Note 5.
- the Redmi Note 3 tends to get quite warm, especially in summer when you're outside. That just doesn't feel safe for the device. How are temps on the Note 5?
- the wifi has always been a thing on my Note 3, I have way worse wifi than with my Oneplus 3 or anyone else for thst matter. Has wifi reception gotten better?
- I can't stand Miui, I'm a stock Android guy. I need a stable, daily driver rom with a Vanilla Android look that comes with ota updates. How are we doing with this on the Note 5? Official Lineage coming?
Anything else that might help my decision making or would be good to know?
Greets & thanks in advance!
5 Doesnt heat much,
Never had a prob with wifi
Go for AOSIP very stable and snappy

I loved my Kenzo, was my first Xiaomi phone.
I find that this one heats up less than the Note 3 did, which would make sense, especially given the 28nm SOC that the Note 3 did.
Wifi is pretty good on this one, I don't have any complaints.
Plenty of options for custom roms, given that you can also use Treble based rom's as well.

Wow, don't blow up the internet because of a typo.
I meant to write Note 3 Pro.
it's a good upgrade from RN3Pro, much stable, good battery life. This phone only gets warm if you play some games that stress the gpu.
It's not hot if you use it under the sunlight for hours, not like the RN3Pro.
it's a budget phone after all, don't expect the quality as high as the flagship one does. But for the phone in this price range, I don't think twice to buy this phone haha

A good suggestion from me.
Unlock bootloader of your kenzo, install twrp and flash miui 9 8.4.12 or 8.4.26 port by orochi with agni kernel 12.2. Then your kenzo will never heat and will work very well. No issues in these ROMS. These are the best ROMS I have tried and I am still using the 8.4.26 port by orochi.
You will fall in love again with kenzo.
Sent from my Redmi Note 3 using XDA Labs
Probably, but I just can't work with Miui. I need a Vanilla Android Rom. It's not that Miui doesn't look & work good, but I'm so used to Vanilla, I just can't adjust.
But thanks for the tip anyway!
I've been using a Oneplus 5T lately and bought a Note 5 "for fun". With Miui its kind laggy but gestures are pretty good.
Using RR on Note 5 now and it's quite OK, not as snappy as Oneplus 5T but fast enough, only gesture navigation is not really good (bad detection).
Happened when I had Redmi Note 3 Pro and is happening again, imho no point to spend more than what you spend for a Note 5 really (thinking my Oneplus 5T costed almost 3 times as much...).
RR = Resurrection?
I won't use gestures (besides quick pulldown & apo drawer opening), so I guess I'm fine there.
Honestly what could get annoying is the camera. But then again, the OP3s camera was rubbish aswell.

Definitely. I changed from RN3Pro to RN5 and I'm happy. I haven't feeled any urge to go custom yet (1-2 months since i got the phone). The only downside is you have to be carefull with updates, because Xiaomi has implemented anti rollback feature without warning people. Also camera still needs some fixes. But I'm happy i got RN5
Interested to hear more people's opinions. I'm still using my RN3P that I've had for over 2 years now. The only thing I'm really looking for from the RN5 is an improved camera. I replaced the battery about 5 months ago and am able to still get 8-11 hours SOT with it. Love this damn phone so much.
Placed my 4/64 global RN5 order a few days ago. Can't wait. Hope it is a worthy upgrade to trusty Kenzo.

Questions about Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 AI Global 6/64

Going to buy this phone soon
I'd like to ask several questions regarding it
Which is the best ROM, Kernel, etc
- Good for gaming
- Longer battery life
Also does it support fast charging?
Did my research and it says yes but I have to buy other charger. Any recommended charger for it?
anyone gonna even reply? lol
You are not going to buy that phone. AI Global 6/64 doesn't exist. You did a poor research.
Ai ist China only ...
There is no "best" ROM but I like AEX or MIUI.
It Support quick Charge but is not certified so you may need to test some chargers. I use one from Anker.

well 'scuse me for not being a phone geek, there's a lot of Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 type that I can't remember. First I thought my phone is Note 5 Pro but it's Oreo so I research again and I think mine is AI. And by Global, I mean it's Stable ROM, and support several language and not Chinese only. I just ask for some tips not for you to judge me. so F off
i use htc 10 charger for my note 5
from 1% to 100% in 2 hours or less
i use original cable from note 5

To buy or not...

It looks like the mi 9 SE will be released global on the 28th of March. I want to "measure" how big the xda community will be for this phone, and also just curious...
If the mi 9 SE will be released globally, will you consider buying this phone (answer in poll)?
Well it's just as easy to modify as most of Xiaomi phones so I guess soon there will be here some custom rom choices. Especially if the only other smaller size competitor is Samsung 10e, for over twice the price.
I have 9se for about three weeks so far and must admit it's a great piece of hardware, but only if you like compact devices. Otherwise I'd rather choose Redmi Note 7 (limited budget) or Mi 9 or keep waiting for Poco F2.

Yes, absolutely. I'm looking forward to purchase the 128gb varient. I LOVE compact phones, especially the ones with flagship spec i.e. Sony. But I'm definitely getting the Mi 9 SE.
Actually, its form factor seem to be the best. I would consider buying the P30 or S10e, but the price is way better on the Mi 9 SE.
Just wondering if it worth waiting for the Mi A3 lite, which would be about the same smartphone except for the snapdragon (660 and not 712) but with Android One and b28....
It depends on what is important for you. I am planning to buy too, after I have seen some reviews and possibly if I see some development activity here.
The reasons I would buy this phone are: small size, amoled screen, quite decent chipset and nfc.
I would personally not buy the galaxy s10e because of the high price and the lack of developement I have seen with their previous phones.

I just watched a couple of reviews and forum posts so mine is not a "direct" opinion, anyway
About photos, they are very good. They are not great, as well as big brother Mi 9, probably that's due to the software: AI and drivers are still not perfectly calibrated on Sony IMX586. It looks like worst than Mi 8, even if on paper Mi9/Mi9SE should have a better sensor.
About battery, it's enough! If you use dark theme, you can reach 6 hours of display on. Recently Xiaomi released DC function for Mi 9 , maybe we will see the same for Mi 9 SE because both have AMOLED display, which can benefit of this DC function.
If battery sometime isn't enough, QC @ 18W can pump in a few minutes the energy you need to reach late night.

Photos during daylight are great, just as you wish them to be. Every lens is doing it's job well - you can get a nice close up photo with zoom, wide angle lens proved to be useful as well, bokeh is nice (but it used to be so even on Mi 6). I am a little disappointed with night mode though - before I was playing with it on Mix 3 and there the results looked like magic, here are mediocre. It looks like the algorithm is only increasing the general brightness of the photo without recognizing the difference between stuff which should be visible and that is supposed to remain dark. The effect is obviously worse than on Mi 9 (basing on the reviews).
The battery is sufficient. Mi 9 SE as a smaller size phone is not bought for gaming therefore for any other activity can be used quite long. E.g. I've got over 14 hours of continuous movie play (MX Player HW+) and 25 hours when left as a clock (Big Clock app on Google Play). When you're not using the phone the battery drain is about 1% per hour with Ambient Display on.

Xiaomi is notoriously slow with updates. Like now, it's the end of March still no March patch, some people didn't even get Feb patch yet. And the biggest f*** up that Xiaomi did is after android pie update. Wifi Mac has changed, some people got their phone bricked, wifi keeps disconnecting, battery life is super poor (4-5h sot), a lot of bugs I encounter every day, still using 3.18 kernel instead of 4.9 etc. etc.

Nah, the only reason why switched to custom for a while is because the wifi problem, everyone is facing this issue. It's disconnects won't won't connect back, and 5ghz wifi speed is very poor.

I want the mi 9 se as a replacement device. I finally want a premium (cut down) flagship phone, and hopefully will last for about 4 years or more.
Looks like I was following a false track. The release from 28th only contained mi 9 and redmi note 7.
There have been a few others sources hinting towards a global launch. For now we just have to wait.

It is also listed on geekbuying for buying, not only for preorder.
6/64 edition for about 330€ after using coupons seems to be quite a good deal.
Pros:
- 6" screen is still enough.
- Amoled screen and non-intrusive notch.
- Size. The device itself is tiny and lightweight.
- Hardware is below flagship, but much better than mid-range.
- Treble enabled, kernel source already released.
Cons:
- MIUI environment is not so friendly.
- dev scene (I hope I am wrong).
- OEM updates.

Miui and oem updates aren't the issue for me.
Ok, so to summerize:
- Small from factor
- Amoled screen
- Indisplay fingerprint
- 4G b20 and b28
- Widevine L1
- 6Gb RAM
A part for the CPU power, it is even more interesting for me than s10e, and for half the price.
So I definetly swap my OnePlus 6 for this device. The last question is where should we buy it to be sure we have the global version?
I saw that honorbuy.com send the right one with even european charger, but a bit expansive...

I would reccomend honorbuy because of european stock and no VAT on delivery (if you are based in Europe).
Devices are shipped with european socket charger.
If you buy on Aliexpress you must check any custom duty that would be added to the shipment in your country.

Mate 20X 5G EVR-N29 & EVR-AN00 EMUI 10/Android 10 Release & Experience Questions

Mate 20X 5G EVR-N29 & EVR-AN00 EMUI 10/Android 10 Release & Experience Questions
Hi! I am in the process of getting my new Mate 20x 5G EVR-N29 despite its disadvantages over the 4G version and would like to know if the EMUI 10/Android 10 Update is released or releasing anytime soon.
Also, please share your experience and bugs as well as there does not seem to be any dedicated threads for this device.
Not sure why but hope this will change as I think there should be dedicated sub-forums for this model to help users with device specific guidance, customisations and news.
In particular, I would like to know if display density reset issue remains or whether call recording can be enabled by default on EVR-N29.. Comments on Battery Life, Loudness of Speakers, M-Pen use and 5G performance also welcome.

may i ask why u went for the 5G version? summary of disadvantages:
- smaller battery
- no stereo speakers (earphone is now used as second speaker, thus unequal loudness)
- no 3.5 mm headphone jack
- higher battery consumption at 5G / basically non-existant coverage as of yet
- significantly higher price tag
- sound not as loud / good as the 4G version (headphones)

Have you spent any time browsing the Huawei forums on XDA, in particularly this one for the Mate 20x? They are basically dead "Mate", no pun intended.

Great question! Very accurate list of disadvantages. Thanks. I was one of the first to post about the disadvantages of this model in this forum when the details of its features were first leaked, subsequently officially announced. I was and still very upset with Huawei for what they did to Mate 20 X.
I am getting a very special discount on the price of the 5G model which I could not refuse so I am buying it. I love large phones and currently still using my Zenfone 3 Ultra and very happy with it despite the lack of NFC and 5G but want my next phone to be 5G ready and larger than my current phone as a future investment and to protect its resale value. Until proper folding devices become widespread, I think I could manage with the 5G Mate 20X. Besides, it also has large memory (compared to the European non-5g model EVR-L29) and Google Play Store and GMS is pre-installed so not need to sideload like on the non-5G 256Gb version (China Version).
I will share my experience with it when my phone arrives next week and really hope I could upgrade to Android 10 as hopefully the display density reset issue will be solved so I could make better use of the screen space.
@AWFRONT I am in same boat as you, waiting to get it next week!
same reasons to buy it, I had 20x 4g china almost year...
Phone is very close to 4g, however i like the below advantages.:
5G network is becoming common in Dubai so it is great to have 5G phone
Ram is bigger 8gb
Performance is slightly higher
Storage is 256gb
Didn't realize any difference in battery performance compared to 4G
SPLASH, WATER, AND DUST RESISTANT
SuperCharge (Max 40 W)
Yes you can install call recording in global phone
The only thing i can highlight is:
Sound is not as 4g
We didn't receive EMUI 10 yet even beta

But if you want a very nice 5G phone i would recommend mate 30 pro 5G uf a big screen is not important to you .
I had a mistake that i bought mate 30 pro 4G recently and i have mate 20 x 5G.

how can performance be higher if hardware is exactly the same in terms of SoC?
8/256 also in chinese 4G
battery performance should be significantly different at 84% battery capacity plus 5G eats more battery than 4G, especially with a separate 5G modem, so more hardware to power.
both 4G and 5G models are rated at IP53, no difference there.
supercharge at 40W is indeed different / higher than 4G and of course its nice to have global version
not criticizing here folks, just keeping the facts straight!

Yes, like this. Good is 8gb on global sw and faster charging. Bad is smaller battery and worse sound.
Other same.
I hope it will serve me one day whole on 4g, until 5g come to Serbia. Then I will see..
I got it yesterday, played just a little for now.
Of course, all is same.
I noticed that screen is maybe little better calibrated (easily can be just production variations). Less green tint and a fraction stronger saturation on normal mode. Goes a little to red, not perfect...
No option for flicker reduce (as I remember on al00 it was introduced in 9.1 emui?).
Today I will set it usually for me, battery analysis in few days.
Charge is incredible : went from 40 to 95 percent in 10 or 15 minutes!

You know that super charging and fast charging reduces battery longetivity. I personally 5W charge my device and try and use the 80-40% charge regimen.

This is another short coming of EMUI, there is no place in software to turn off " fast charging", unlike Samsung which you can. My current charger , charges at approx 23% per hour / 1023mA. , Device temp doesn't even exceed 24C while charging. Sometimes , I do use a Samsung charger which charges at approx 1800mA.

Our security patch is August in UAE with 9.1.1.167
We must wait. Don't flash manually
I installed the Huawei Recording app and it works perfectly on the EVR-N29. Tested and the quality is excellent.
