So I don't know if I'm the only one experiencing this but why does PUBG Lag so much on the One Plus 3?
Even on the smooth settings with AA disabled, it still lags and the performance just isn't smooth.
I've tried playing the game on my mom's moto G6 and honestly I did not notice much of difference in performance. Is the game still not well optimized for SD 820?
I've tried it on OOS, Omni and right now I'm on LOS15.1
Also on LOS15.1 I'm experiencing this strange issues where the game will start up but will be unplayable and I heard a strange sound from the game. It requires a reboot to fix.
Any solutions?
Its the common issue with STOCK OREO ROMS and/or custom ROMS. I play PUBG mobile a lot on my 3t. after trying numerous kernels and profiles, I switched to NOUGAT OOS( last stable build is OOS 4.5.1) and after almost a week, I can say that PUBG does not drops frame that aggresively as it used to before and this is with stock kernel. I will switch to elemental X or Franco kernel this week?. phone throttles a bit less now. You wont be disappointed by downgrading, just make sure to NANDROID and copy it to OTG/PC
You can also try switching to sultan's LOS 14.1.
i never thought that one time i will downgrade my rom...
but i did because of pubg and i didn't regret
it is smoother than oreo ( still a small lag)
and you won't notice a big difference from oreo to nougat

I felt the same , plus battery backup is also better on nougat.. btw, which kernel should I flash for AKT( OOS 4.5.1 rooted)?

So it's a problem with Oreo? That's weird.
Is the performance noticeably better on nougat rom than on oreo? What about overheating?
I really want PubG to run smoother but I find it hard to go back to nougat with Pie OOS just round the corner and 9.0 roms already showing up

YES, pubg runs smoother now.
You wont notice much difference in terms of UI in Nougat OOS. Phone don't overheat that bad still miles better than oreo??
I will upgrade when the official OOS PIE for 3t appears( without any OREO issues) next year.

I'm on OmniDragon Oreo and, PubG while not as smooth as I hoped from SD820, runs pretty well.
I have to use GFX tool but I get pretty good fps with minimal lag.
I'm using this PubG GFX Tool with settings as in the ss. You can give it a try.
Other things to note are:
1. Play on WiFi intead of mobile data.
2. Ping anything over 250 will produce lag.
3. Play FPP on Miramar. Erangel TPP is too laggy due to the excessive server load.
So I tried the game on my mom's Moto G6 again and guess what??
The game actually runs smoother on it. Minimal stutters , frame drops and no overheating. Found the performance to be more consistent than on my OP3.
How on earth can a phone with SD450 and 3 GB ram run it so well and OP3 with SD 820 and 6 GB ram cant??

Hey guys.
Just want to know your thoughts about ROM performance in terms of smoothness on different roms.
I was a long time user of tylers RR build and it was really fluid.
Now i am back on Imperium since a month (because of camera) and its overall UI performance is worse that RR.
Can you please give me some thoughts about your experience in UI/ROM peformance on Rom/builds?
thx

Well I'm not surprised you experience worse UI performance on Stock based ROMs, overall in my experience the UI performance in AOSP Custom ROMs is way more fluid and smoother, but the performance in apps is slower than in Stock based ROMs. A bit longer load times, less frame rate's but a more stable frame rate in games and a bit less responsive after a long period of use. For me the camera performance and photo and video quality on Stock based ROMs outweighs AOSP ROMs and that keeps me close to Stock. I have used Dualboot Patcher for a while so I could use AOSP ROMs as my primary ROM and and a Stock based ROM as my secondary ROM so I could still enjoy a fluid and smooth UI and the camera performance of Stock when needed. I really dislike the micro stutters I experience on Stock, especially when I'm scrolling. But I dislike my phone getting slow after a long period of usage even more, which forces me to reboot my phone regularly. So because of that I am running a Stock based ROM as my primary ROM for now.

thx a lot for your feedback!
Thats a good idea with dualboot patcher, but (for me) not really practical
Your experiences coincide with mine!
In my case i also had thermal issues with AOSP roms -> cpu runs hotter quickly than on stock.
Did you also experienced such a behaviour?
Which AOSP rom do you use?
And which do you think has the best (UI) performance?
thx

No problem! :good:
Oh, for me the CPU on AOSP ROMs actually ran a bit cooler and heated up less quickly than on Stock. Although my G4 never really runs that hot even on Stock. And I forgot to mention that I get better battery life both in stand by time and average SOT while running a AOSP based Custom ROM.
At the moment I run a Stock based ROM on my G4 but I have used CyanogenMod till it's end and it's successor Lineage OS which it's pretty much the same but under a new name . I've also tried other ROMs but most of them where based on CM and are based on Lineage OS and they pretty much performed more or less the same. So no big differences.
That's why i do not use any more customs roms...
It's on the decline !
I agree with you !
-camera and video quality lost
-lost performance after a long usage
-lost customer patent and innovation
-lost the pure performance on games
-the modem is not as well as exploited as customers firmwares (sometime bad network quality on customs)
-always minors buggs and sometime big buggs
-near all devellopers wait for Lineage source (Lineage spend 1 year to build an android version and it's never "perfect"....and lots of merges,abandon,clean... on their source all the time,it's never stable and finished)
- on RR,DU...etc....you remove design customizations and you see an empty poor rom
-you loose FM radio function and there never have had effort by the dev for to port an alternative like spirit-fm radio (this dev have had big succes with some very difficult phones ,and som LG)
-you have much more chance than stock to have battery drain with some system process (the main cause of stocks firmwares drain is the google apps ! )
Maybe a custom rom is good for low and some middle-end devices (principaly for to have a light rom.....and hardwares are not the best on these devices ) but completely useless for hight-end device like G4...that's my opinion !
I use a MM firmware + simpleGX 2.0.3 kernel and i'm very happy ! Very good...

One of the biggest issues in the current Oreo ROMs is the mobile network standby drain.
People using the Pie alphas should report if it still exists or has been fixed, although I don't see any new baseband and hence the chances of latter are less.

You could also install the viper os 3.0 final build but the problem with that is that it doesnt have the cameraapi 2 enabled on that because of that the google cam wouldnt work. The photos taken by the google cam and stock cam differ in the quality by a huge margin to be ignored

I ended up dowloading ZUI 2.0.093 Indian for qfil and ZUI 2.5.104 stock recovery zip (qpst one for this wasn't downloading for me).
I flashed ZUI 2.0 via qfil successfully, and received a small oTA to 2.0.133, and then decided to flash 2.5 via recovery, but failed to get it work. Anyways, decided to go ahead and unlock the BL and then I ended up flashing only the baseband from Indian 2.5.099 (data quota restrictions ).
After that I flashed the last build of AEX 4.6, used it for a day and the standby drain was not like a drain overthere. Unless I did not use hotspot, it wouldn't show up in top 5.
Few hours later, got a notification for a rebased release of Jaguar oreo, and couldn't resist from trying it out. Initial impressions were great, but slowly the standby drain started creeping in, and within a few hours it rose to the top. Luckily I made a nandroid backup of the AEX 4.6 Installation which I reverted to last night.
I do miss the oreo features though
Developers should look around the way Oneplus 6T addressed the issue. Coz I heard, they almost fixed the issue in the new phone.

So does this problem exist for all android phones that are above android Oreo??? or is it just for our phones. The thing iam trying to understand here is that is it google that messed up android or is the developer that created the roms for our phone that messed up. Its actually funny how the phone uses more battery when the phone is not in use.:cyclops::cyclops:

After creating a nandroid backup of fully loaded aex 4.6, I'm back to living on the bleeding edge. Going back to aex 4.6 wasn't as good in terms for battery performance Z I expected it to be.
Currently on october pixel exp pie and the latest gcam pixel3 mod and even the pixel 2 mods frequently crash the phone (kernel panic maybe) during HDR processing. Didn't have time for debugging so received a lot of frowning from family for missed shots and extended wait times but who cares as whatever gcam was able to shoot was unbelievable.
Would be moving to the latest AEX pie with 4.4 kernel soon as I have read that the new kernel will improve the battery life.

ZUI 5 GSI has very low standby drain and SOT is also really good between oreo roms. You can try it once.
mine was so bad
I lose 25-30 percent through the night everynight and, I just replaced my battery for 3 month.
i don't know what's going on.
Can any one recommend me some good battery rom please ?
The battery drain issues are solved
Guys iam happy to report that the battery drain issues are solved on latest build of bootleggers 4.0 rom
Here is a link to it
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-zuk-z2/development/pie-bootleggers-3-5-shishufied-zuk-z2-t3867112
Im currently on ArrowOS Pie and noticed the performance of my phone has dwindled after the factory treble update (benchmark score decreased). I've had the OS for months but just decided now that I should change my ROM in favor of better performance since I started to play games more and just by playing Mobile Legends while on Cellular data makes the phone literally feel like touching a baking pan that just came out of the oven bare handed, who knows what PUBG can do to my phone XD.
Anyways, is there a ROM thats good for performance, is preferably Android 9 Treble, doesn't become REALLY HOT when gaming(heat is inevitable but minimizing is a plus), and doesn't optimize benchmark scores? I once had a score of 160K but I don't remember what ROM I used lol.
You guys can also recommend me some additional mod combinations with the ROMs such as custom kernels, temperature mods, and battery optimization mods so I can make the most of my phone.
Thanks in advance
Good question. Not lineage, it heats like hell too.

Tried bootleggers. 39º-43º on idle/light tasks 50º's medium and 70º's heavy gaming. Better for me than lineage (rebooted even), but I think still somewhat hot.
I don't remember what is normal temperature (on stock) anymore but it rarely got hot.
Can someone tell me what are normal temperatures?
Gopal, can I go straight from bootleggers to jaguar non treble? Is it better than 4.0 official.

Can you provide Jaguar temps and antutu benchmark? Also, what treble ROM would you recommend for performance? Jaguar is a non treble ROM so some of my mods like ViperFX might not work, still considering it though
Edit: if my rom is on Factory Treble, do I still need to flash v2f to switch to Jaguar?

Hello everyone,
Just curious to know if we have Oxygen os builds available for Oreo in 2019. Would like to rollback to Oreo but don't want to lose android security patches.
Android pie is working fine. But really miss the brightness levels and camera was better in nougat and Oreo compared to pie. Battery was the top in nougat easily got 6-7 hours screen on time with enough battery left for the day and with Oreo it was the best 8-8.5 hours.
Not complaining about pie. Can get through the whole day with moderate use and 20-30% left in evening. Just sharing my experience so far with 5t.
I would like to try nougat or Oreo if there are any versions available with latest android security patches.
Apologies if this has been already asked somewhere and answered. I went across XDA and OnePlus forums, Plz let me know if anyone is running Oxygen os with nougat/Oreo at the moment. Thanks!!

I dont see any decrease in battery life in pie. More likely your battery degenerated over time or some apps or background services drain it.
Go hunting for it with logcat or betterbatterystats

Yes...custom roms are totally worth it, Since I have multiple work apps installed at the moment. a bit concerned on how they will work under root. Just sharing my usage logs with a comparison between Oreo and pie
The first set of screenshots are from moderate day usage in Oreo back in 2018 which has mixed usage of social apps and gaming
The second usage is from current stable 9.0.6
Not sure if everyone is getting similar battery life between Oreo and pie in moderate usage throughout the day.
I feel the 10-15% difference with battery left at end of day cause a big change still I get to manage throughout the day in pie.
Compared to Oreo from these random usage screenshots, pie is getting worse day by day. Maybe it's the battery that gets degraded over time or its the overall phone hardware that runs round the clock for us
I have this feel almost with every device, Samsung galaxy 5, Xperia neo v and also back in opo. Android kitkat had best battery and lollipop had a moderate and with marshmallow it got worse.
Just sharing my opinion and also curious to know if y'all out there feel the same.
Edit : Would like to add all these usage were taken in locked bl running unrooted
No need for root , just flash a custom rom and then enjoy ,for me comparing to Oreo pie has good SOT , AND im a heavy Gamer so cant help with battery stats :silly::laugh:
Still many custom ROMs works good in SOT with a custom kernel too.

Hmm yeah.. planning to give it a try. Been sticking with stock unroot most of times since I got 5t. Had it unlocked and under root for few weeks back in January due to shutter sound bug. Since it got fixed moved to stable.
I could see many custom roms are available to try.
Any tips on choosing custom rom, I mainly look for Oxygen os camera and good battery. How's OOS open beta holding up compared to stable pie in terms of battery.
Hi I've been using the default Xiaomi ROM since I bought this device about a year ago. It was working fine with the Android 9 upgrade, but I noticed Android 10 runs noticeably slow. So I want to change the ROM, but I'm unaware if the issues are because of Xiaomi ****ing up, or if Android 10 is not light enough for the device. So I want to know which custom ROM of the ones available in this forum would best suit me if what I'm looking for is reliability and speed. I would like to stay in Android 10 if possible, so if anyone got experiences with custom Android 10 ROMS that could give some insight into their performance with this device I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
HavocOS is pretty nice, also Pixel Experience is pretty nice but when I was testing it, it had pretty bad battery 5-6h SoT. How's the battery life on it? I'm looking for something that runs great and have battery life comparable to that of android one, sadly we all know android one is bugged as hell
