I'm trying this tonight.. I finally was able to create a working vendor partition with a flashable zip.. The guide refuse to work for me.. I tried everything from every page in the repartition thread.. I kept getting error 7 failed to mount system.. I'll share to people struggling with the PC method.. The zip can add or remove vendor partition from twrp.. It ask if you want to use system or data partition to create vendor.. And you can make it 512mb or 800mb.. I used data partition to create and 800mb just in case and it worked.. System failed to mount and install anything, every time from the repartition thread .. Or if I chose to repartition System in twrp zip, system failed to mount installing anything.. Thanks for sharing.. I appreciate you and others hard work.. I'm experimenting with easier methods of going from stock to GSI without PC..

Yes I'll share link.. I didn't create it.. I message the creator to get us a version that strictly repartition data.. I lost count how many times I started over trying to get a working vendor partition.. It's universal also.. Arm and arm64 only.. Read instructions before flashing.. https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/development/tool-party-v0-1-vendor-partition-t3831517
good news. I wait for someone good to cook the Rom for good. maybe flash with twrp

No.. Not to install.. But to use and format vendor you do.. I flashed a treble ROM last nite and it flashed perfectly.. The issue I had was with all the options it needs to be in front or behind system or vendor partition.. It ask you where to put it.. I got a 3rd option picking the wrong location for vendor.. Don't pick it! Use hardware keys to start over.. Even though it will mount and flash.. Twrp need it to be in front or behind system or data partition to boot.. It kept booting back to recovery for me.. Then when I try flashing party to remove vendor, I got a message that since vendor in the wrong location twrp can't reverse the process.. The only way to reverse it is with kdz or manually restoring gpt with repartition thread restore method.. I used that method to manually create the gpt backup..

Same here, thanks for the heads up. I think the only available treble rom would be the Los 15.1.
I'm looking to install Miui. Did you get the rom from the link that you posted?
What camera app are you using?
Installed a gsi rom on Ls998 (LG V30+) converted to us998, created vendor partion, flashed treble twrp, flashed trebelized Los 15.1. went over to the GSI rom section of link provided on first page, chose the rom I wanted (Pixel dust pie), extracted the .Img from xz, flashed the .Img successfully and booted, got a couple UI crashes and rebooted, it wouldn't boot after that, tried several times to boot into GSI but it just hung at the boot animation. Is this normal? (I've since then went into twrp and flashed trebelized Los again)

Good work!!
You guys ready for custom ROMs?
This is my WAS-LX3 Running my Pure AOSP for HI6250 Devices! Installation is a bit tricky but I'll fix that up soon!
Great work!
Just tested it on my P10 lite(was-lx1c432), and it works.
Thanks for your work. I haven't tried it yet. I'm waiting for your custom Rom.
With Devcheck system info (search in playstore) I saw that my device is compatible.
Hi, I flashed it on my WAS-LX1C432 but it freezes at the screen where it asks about allowing modifications to the system partition. The build from the other thread works though, apart from decryption.
Cannot wait to get aosp good work!!

Stock decryption not working here either
I have not found any easy way to get back to stock...
When i tried to flash the zip with the other TWRP build, i got error 7 : This build is for Washington, not for Warsaw.
So, i flashed the img with fastboot and it works.
Also after allowing modifications at first boot of TWRP, i don't get that msg anymore.
With the other build i had to allow it everytime i booted TWRP.
I have WAS-LX1AC432

With your twrp build I tried to flash the recovery again. The zip file. And this time I didn't get any errors.
How's the progress on your rom?
I would be happy to test it.

The ROM is pretty good. I'm just concerned about ppl being able to go back to stock. Because the ROM is not a daily driver yet..,
Rear cam video capture not working.
Little laggies happen during ui animation.
Edit: If you are confident you can get back to stock if you need to pm me.
Any Other Testers?
If there is anyone else who is confident they can get back to stock via the 'dload' method and would like to test AOSP for the P10 Lite, pm me.
Worked for me. I needed to do a full wipe in TWRP first. ( i wiped data too, dunno if it was needed)
Flashed open gapps 7.1 pico.
There is no browser or file manager included in the rom.
So after setting up playstore, download a file manager if you need to access your ext sdcard.
Flashed supersu in twrp and have root too.
---------- Post added at 06:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:15 PM ----------
Restored my apps and data with titanium Backup.
Working fine.
Maybe create a new topic for this ROM?
I made a TWRP backup. Selected everything except /cache.
With 3 button dload method i was able to go back to stock rom.
Unlocked bootloader again, flashed TWRP and then tried to restore the backup.
Got a 255 error. So i did a full wipe and formatted /data.
After this succesfully restored the backup and phone booted normally with everything intact.
So, internal storage is not encrypted in TWRP.
Rom is pretty smooth. Didn't encouter any issues. Except the known bugs.
Finger print is working, GPS too.
Didn't test NFC or dual sim.
Will use this rom and see how it goes.
edit :
Made a "tap and pay" payment in the supermarket. So NFC is working.

I'll create new topic for this 2morrow...:highfive:
So, I unlocked my bootloader and wanted to flash Lineage OS, but my phone had a different opinion.
I went into TWRP and tried to format data, but I'm getting
Code:
Formatting Data using mkfs.f2fs...
mkfs.f2fs -t 0 -r 16384 /dev/block/mmcblk0p56
process ended with ERROR: 1
Unable to wipe Data.
Unable to format to remove encryption.
I've tried repairing the data partition, changing the filesystem, nothing works...
Any ideas as to what might be wrong, or how to fix it?
Thanks

I was using TWRP, but I somehow managed to fix it using Redwolf. Have no idea what happened, but it's ok now.
Hello, I encountered the exact same issue with same origin...
Do you remember what you did to sort this out ?
thanks
(I posted in another thread, before finding yours)
You should check the f2fs kernel workaround guide .
Your problem is due to using incompatible twrp .
Read the guide you'll get around the problem .

Thanks... well that's weird, because I downloaded the TWRP recovery linked in LineageOs kuntao install page and I'm coming from stock...
Anyway I just solved my issue by installing Redwolf recovery :
There I could format /data.
I installed crdroid + gapps, but got a "Encryption Unsuccessful" on reboot.
I changed /data from f2fs to ext4 and could reboot properly.
Phone is working good. (I can't get fingerprint reader to unlock my crdroid rom but that's another story and maybe normal limitation, I'll check).

If you ever need to format data just use official build from twrp.me. The one from Lineage wiki has some problems for now. Redwolf is probably based on official one, that's why you succeded.
The thing is that you need to use it ONLY to format /data partition and then switch back to Lineage one before flashing system zip. Known problem, wiki is just a little misguiding here.
Hello. Same problem here, not solved with RedWolf, neither official TWRP.
I've just followed the guide about lineage 15.1 and I really don't know how/if proceed.
Any help would be really appreciated

Update: after closing and run again RedWolf, tap to Format data, magically it worked. I don't know why but thats'it.
Thanks.
this issue seems to pop-up now and then.
just to make it easier for future users coming across this issue. I had explained the issue here in the following post and how to fix it.
just scroll down till it says: "so for those that would like to switch to f2fs but for some reason end up in "black screen with blue led and the phone vibrates".
it applys to the same /data issue.

Before I want to say big thank you to Nankun for porting miui 11 for v30 and also another big thank you to Xiao Vic for maintenance and sharing the rom.
Also thanks to Hendavi for testing on the T-Mobile h932 to figure a way to make this time work on it
Warning: I am not responsible for any damage cause. Read instructions carefully before. I am not the creator of this rom, neither the maintainer. I am just sharing for our passion.
IMPORTANT: VENDOR PARTITION NEEDED BEFORE FLASHING!
Make sure you have VENDOR PARTITION on your device before flashing the rom or else you will get boot loop or brick. You can check the forum for how to enable vendor partition or treble on your device.
Don't flash gapps or else it will break setup. If you want Google applications, use the old method of installing gapps on miui by searching and downloading gapps installer apk file from xiaomi forum or anywhere else to get play store, contact sync and other Google services.
If you are facing bootloaps or brick after installation even when you have vendor partition, just reboot to twrp and make factory reset and reboot again.
It won't boot if you're on stock oreo, since the rom needs pie files to work properly. Make sure you're coming from stock pie rom or have once update to stock pie before installing any AOSP rom as current rom. If you're coming from AOSP pie or Android 10, make back up and flash rom after vendor partition is created.
The rom will boot on all v30 series except for Canada H933 only. If you have this H933 version, you need to convert to US998 before trying r else you will get hard brick.
Those on T-Mobile H932 should do these things. First you will need to boot the miui 10 first, by downloading the miui 10 backup zip file from the main download link and download the file miui 8.22 file and unzip it. After unzipping, place the file in the backup folder under twrp folder in the SD, then restore in twrp recovery and reboot. After rebooting, you can enjoy the miui 10 which works fully for T-Mobile h932 or if you want to update to miui 11, just download the second backup file from the link with T-Mobile H932 only, and follow the same process to restore the files then reboot. But please make sure you still have the vendor partition first before trying any of this.
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Download the rom and places it on your device sd.
2. Reboot to twrp and make back up of your current rom if incase anything, then you restore back.
3. Wipe system, data, vendor, caches then go back to flash rom zip.
4. Reboot to system then enjoy.
Bugs.
HiFi dac don't work. And NFC also don't work. Also double touch to wake don't work for now.
Aside portrait mode of xiaomi camera don't work and it will break the cam app.
Aside these everything works smoothly and stable.

Use this file for creating vendor Partition by flash in twrp.
Make backup first before flashing.
Flash zip, go to wipe and advance, select resize partition, then select vendor, choose where you want to create the vendor partition from( system recommend, and also the size should be 512 and above)
After creating the vendor partition, reboot recovery and format system, vendor and caches. Now you can flash rom.
Good afternoon and thank you for sharing this with us. I have two questions for you. I followed your instructions and regarding to wiping vendor, my phone doesn't allow it to be wiped. Also when I tried to install the rom, I was receiving no os installed when trying to reboot my phone. I redownloaded the rom and and transferred to zip card in hoping that will make a difference in install. Is there a way to bypass vendor wipe or is that needed? Thank you again for adding Miui and many thanks for the porting. I have loved MIUI as long as I had android.

You can't wipe vendor because you don't have the partition. Download the partition file from the below link and flash via twrp. After that, go to wipe, Advance, resize partition, the select vendor and then create a vendor part. You can either create it from the data partition or system partition but I recommend system. The size should be from 512 above not below. After creating the partition, go back to wipe and then wipe system, vendor and caches, then you can now flash the rom.

Awesome. I will try it now.
Got some good news, more good news, great news, and some bad news. The good news is with the zip file provided it installed perfectly. The more good news is the setup was easy. The great news is the camera worked perfectly portrait and landscape. The bad news is trying to figure out how to change everything to English. One thing I discovered is do not install gapps stock with the ROM. It will crash it or it did with me. Awesome port and thank you.

I tried to flash gapps to get google working for syncing purposes and install some of my favorite apps. I tried the local miui app store to download the playstore but the server is extremely slow in my area. About 2 hours and the rom was still downloading the updates prior to installing the selected apps. The rom itself is extremely smooth and running the way MIUI is expected to run without a glitch. I am just wondering if the miui store is downloading using my cellular data instead of my 400M internet.

If you in pie and not having vendor partition, well you need flash oreo twrp(v3.2.x.x) then go ahead for vendor installation, link = https://mega.nz/#!G9lQWSjL!m1U4b4DA2nXEa7VEQyG_peZfJiPd11vTl0hoFqnINFo
And than flash pie twrp(v3.3.x.x) reboot recovery and go ahead for Miui Rom
Btw DT2WA doesn't work, also Chinese bloatware js here, very smoth rom

He will fix DT2WA in the next update and also add always on, he said it drivers issue and he forgot to fix that. Also he is planning on porting global version for global users so let's stay tuned. I will share the next update when it is ready.

You have to use the old method of installing gapps on the miui Chinese rom. Use miui gapps installer apk which you can Google for it. It's works and you will get all your contacts and things back from Google play store.

i found this recovery in msm extended telegram chat.
the installation did not format my data since i have all my apps working and i can see the entire internal storage when i connect the phone to pc.
I have this recovery on my device for a later time in case I decide to move away from OOS so I can't speak to experience...BUT:
My understanding is due to decryption/recovery on this device the chinese recovery will work BUT the limitations are that if you are on OOS currently you cannot decrypt storage, HENCE you will not see anything in TWRP (again that is my understanding). After backing up the device and wiping the data partition at minimum (most custom roms seem to require us to fastboot wipe our partitions from instructions ive read)... then we can use this version of recovery for custom roms.
I think the major difference between this one and the official version here is of course the unofficial nature of this twrp but also the chinese twrp will let you flash (not boot) the recovery image without issue so we can still USE OOS OR flash custom roms without things going...wrong?...I plan to wait until the A11 OOS upgrade before I make a decision. After learning about how 1P botched the recovery keys + partition issues with the A10 launch I think its just better to see how development goes AFTER the new year maybe
Hmm l was of the understanding that if you format using the chinese recovery all will work on oos will see what's what and report back as soon as l find it and flash it
So flashed Chinese twrp couldn't mount data until l formatted data using it then l could see everything in storage but it reverted after a reboot and would need formatting again to see storage also it seems much more functional that the mauronofrio twrp but the decryption issue is still an issue for me at least. It's ashame nobody is working on this to give us a better twrp.

What's "this"? And what do you mean nobody?
Check twrp gerrit and github and you'll see lots of progress. Fastbootd has been implemented, and dynamic partitions are pretty much handled now. Only significant thing would be decryption, but let's hope Android 11 fixes this as Google once again has changed things regarding to keystore.

Ok l stand corrected just wondering why mauronofrio hasn't released an update or updated his thread. So OnePlus have to implement changes to keystore with Android 11 so they might fix it ?
Hey guys and gals!
So I don't wanna keep posting on other ROM threads to be annoying, so I will create a thread of my own. How do one flash the system_ext.img coming from Stock (root) ? I absolutely cannot get any TWRP versions (Chinese or English) to function. I take my passcode off and it's always 0mb. Doesn't matter if I am on a custom ROM or not. It's just something I cannot get to work. ONE time, it seen my storage but it would not flash a ROM. SO how can I flash this image via fastboot?
Global version of OOS. Although, I am currently on EXTENDED. I said Stock because I'll always have a Crash Dump, and need to start over. It's also tiresome to flash YAAP (12-18-20) then use the updater to create the image. Again, some things with this device, I'm getting used to. I'm all for learning and testing everything. I just cannot find a way to flash this image or get TWRP to function.
Have a great day!
So I would suggest you update your fastboot tools, because once you have the partition created assuming you are coming from a rom that has the system ext img it shouldn't be a problem. For example this is what I did, I was on RR remix so twrp chinese was working ( by the way I don't know why it wouldn't work for you if it works for everyone else) from there its just a matter of flashing the zip that contains the img. You can try derp, evox, yaap etc. After that again just flash what ever rom you desire it shouldn't be any issues. Also to keep in mind that a11 with twrp does not work with a pin only with a pattern, even tho I have read you said you have no pin lock. Wouldn't really know why your device would be the case but you can try that out .

Sorry for the delay. Wish XDA would alert me, better. So Chinese TWRP is working now, on XTEND. I dunno, sometimes it works and sometimes I get 0mb. I think that point, to go onto a ROM WITH that image, should be fine. Since I always had troubles, I'd only fastboot flash to different ROMs. Trust me, for all my time on Android, this device is making me needy and a big newb. I just waiting for that "then don't bother to flash anything and shut up" LOL! BUT then again, I'm not on r/jailbreak. So once the partition is created, I can go to a ROM without that image? Do you know how I can check? Because I would like to just flash Hydrogen but don't wanna jump to stock. I think I can just flash a ROM with it and reboot back to the bootloader without setting up, right?

That img will always exist is part of android 11 so it will be the norm. Every rom in the future will have it as seen on some custom roms right now, I flashed the h2os from twrp since I was coming from derp. So I didnt go back to stock. When you flash that img a partition will be created so the space will be available for when you flash another rom. So in the case that for example you were on derp and decided to fastboot flash h2os 11 you will not have issues flashing with fastboot commands the system_ext to both slots. ( By the way you need to specify which slot so I recommend you have a custom rom prior on both slots better if it's a11 rom.) The command fastboot flash system_ext_a system_ext.img and system_ext_b system_ext.img is to be used when doing it with fastboot command from fastbootd. If you decide to go with twrp from any custom rom a11 like the ones mentioned before just flash and right after you flash format data. You will lose twrp since the zip has the new recovery from oneplus. Reboot to recovery and again format data reboot enjoy. If you want to use just regular fastboot method you have to flash every img in the zip like 23 or so don't rememeber in order for it to work. So to make it simple for you. Flash a custom a11 rom with twrp if you are on a custom rom already. To both slots. After reboot and have the rom settle by letting it start to home screen. Save the zip of h2os to the phone reboot to recovery flash h2os zip not don't reboot but in twrp go to wipe format data. Then reboot to recovery again it will reboot to stock recovery format data again reboot and enjoy.
You will still have a custom rom in the other slot and if you want to have the stock on both slots just use the ota system update form stock rom local upgrade
There you go it should be simple and quick it took me like ten minutes to set it up and flash yesterday. By the way despite being a beta I really enjoy h2os 11. Do expect some minor bugs since it's a beta build.
I'll leave a link so you can read about system_ext and android new partition going forward. https://source.android.com/devices/bootloader/partitions

You're a wealth of information! Thanks for helping me to understand!
Edit: I tried the installing of two ROMs but I couldn't get it. I tried XTEND and Derp. But I had trouble with Xtend not being able to boot after setting up Derp. I had to wipe data for it to boot. Then lost everything. Bleh.
Can I ask you for your recommendation for an A11 ROM to have on a slot?

So just to give you some more context, when you have to different rom on each slot is normal you have to format data, one : because they might have different data format , example oneplus only supports ext4 while derp is f2fs. So when flashing derp and the other slot is xtended is expected you will have to format in some occasions it might boot but you will have a buggy experience. So now that you have two custom roms and twrp try flashing h2os and again always format data and format data again in stock recovery since that will change the data format to ext4.

So I can have derp AND Hydro running? But like, when I format data, it was a full data wipe. I guess what you're talking about, right? Like I said, both ROMs kinda worked but it force a "fastboot -w". Maybe since I can get TWRP to work, I can wipe data there, and not touch user data?

On 7t there is no such thing as dual boot you can have of course one rom in one slot and another different slot on the other slot and it would work, also when you fastboot -w you are not erasing the imgs, you are erasing user data. The imgs from the rom will always be there until you change them. There is no way of saving data because of what i mentioned before of the different dat file ext4 and f2fs, when you are on stock it will "make data work for it but not for other roms" because of the decryption issue for one and second because of the format ext4. The only two roms i have tried so far that you can have dual boot are EVO x and Derp because there code is so similar coming from the same dev. SO to answer your question, Yes you can have two different ROMS but the rom that you use for setup that will be the one that will take over, in this case stock will take over data, which means you wont be able to use the other slot till you format data again and get rid of the encryption so that the other rom can use data partition. I know it sounds complicated but it really is very simple.
It is rather simple. I did notice a few people using those ROMs in slots. I mean, it's not a big deal if I can have two ROMs. I do miss the days of dual booting though.
May I ask, and this isn't to make a ROM work with Stock on a slot. Can you convert the file system to F2FS? I stumbled across a ROM that said it was better on this device but I can't find that post.

yes you can, it depends, if the rom supports it. the fastboot way is way to complicated so twrp is the best option, when you choose wipe you will see a setting that says advanced, from there you choose data and click the option change format or repair then you will see some options. do note that when you change the type it will erase your data. do note that only data will change your system data will still be ext4.
