Sure, would be usefull :good: it's probably the future of custom rom, for the good or the bad ...
i just have read few articles for now, but I have not tested yet
if i understand well, when the device is not treble ready the most difficult part is to have vendors adapted to trebble, once you have the vendors, you just have to flash the GSI (only system), and then you will still have some issues with BT and autobrightness
Poll question is the same as post question in fact
Would be very interessting for me, cause I know to litte about it.

I was thinking that from user side I knew GSI roms quite well, but new set of them ruined my knowledge a bit. More I use them less understand them [emoji19][emoji12]

Do you know how to get camera working on GSI?
I tried using Xperience and CosmicOS as base (on Oreo) but it doesn't work in any of them.
Learning how to install a GSI isn't that difficult (okay, you have to search a little until you find something, but there's information), but get hardware-related things working is the impossible part (really searched but I didn't find nothing about it).
Use magisk module Google_Camera_Fix-v4.
After use pls. report how it's work in your configuration :vendor+GSI

Can u provide a link for that
you should write how to do it, for example which base you use, how to fix some things, which modules for magisk you use etc , which magisk you use.
good to see this.
Good luck!

I didn't find the v4, only v1, but really thanks for telling everyone about the module.
I tested some builds of CosmicOS as vendor (including the last one available on its topic) with LineageOS 16.0 and ArrowOS, but camera wasn't working even with the module installed.
So I tried XPerience 12.1 (Oreo, the last avaible update) with the same GSIs and the module. This time the camera got to work, but NFC was dead (I'm not sure if the NFC problem is related to the GSI or vendor, maybe both?).

Yeah , but I must postpone this - I am a little bit fed up with GSI - nfc , BT work or don't work (rather not together) all the time problems also with adaptivebrightness .
GSI is for geeks only :/ not for newbies so for a guide is to early in my opinion .
There is significant advance in GSI development now - latest roms are usable on MZP [emoji6], I am testing two of them.

Does someone know how to fix the issues with BT and auto-brightness and flashlight after an update the Android 8.1 to 9 using the method treble? I added all files how was to explained in the tutorial..
Still all is messed up with gsi's on moto z play - most close to full functionality is OOS ver. 0.7 with xpe 13 as vendor but build 26/02 + Juniiim's patches -- still no NFC there and possibly buggy somtimes BT .
@Juniiim maybe it would be good idea to put your patches for gsi in this thread together with some info how to use it ? It is better to keep TeamMEX XPE thread clean .
Almost got it.. Gsi on Moto Z Play - Descendant TwoDotOne - Liquid Remix GSI (february build) .... I am making final tests day or two and if all will be OK I put here short guide how to setup...
So for now -- wifi , RIL (LTE+), bluetooth ,nfc ,gps- works
Will be needed later (kernel tweak) ->
su
echo 0 > /sys/kernel/alessa_plug/hotplug_enabled
Hal3 fully enabled[emoji106] .
I suppose that xpe builds after 19/06 have broken Bluetooth in GSI : / This build should be archivised and kept safe forever Its sources are probably overwriten many times already :/

@sebx_g1 if you like I can collaborate in your guide, I currently use base Xpe 20/03 with gsi GSI oos everything works fine Bluetooth, calls, camera, wifi and brightness

today I took a new SIM card which enables 4G service on my carrier (Tele2 Croatia). 4G is working fine but WiFi connection keeps turning itself on even if I turn it off via dropdown or in settings. if I set network mode to GSM/WCDMA/Auto I get 3G network and wifi stays off. the moment I set it back to GSM/WCDMA/LTE/Auto I get 4G but wifi starts acting up again.
I'm on autoprime's stock MM and Xceed kernel. with old SIM card that never happened. anyone know what's this all about? my carrier told me to check with LG Support eek...
EDIT: nope, even setting it to GSM/WCDMA/Auto doesn't do the trick.
Install the newest Rom and the best kernel for - of course. And the problem will gone I think.
But First turn OFF WiFi in hide menu check this out. I'm not sure but probably it'll work. I'm from 3 months on NOTE 4 so I forgot many things.

already did that. newest MM rom and Xceed kernel. it could be compatibility issue with new SIM and MM, since I restored my LP backup just to check it out, and it was all fine... damn!!
But lp or kk. Not the mm. Mm is a bad idea. Try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/stock-t2961073 but the v20p Rom it's best choice in my opinion.
Or v20h than xposed etc.

I didn't see any active threads on this or find much info since Android N is fairly new on the HTC 10.
Has anyone got a sound mod working on N? If so, which and what did you install? Another user and I have been having trouble for some reason. Dunno.
Has anyone on Viper10 4.X gotten it working, as well?
Sound mods tried:
ARISE Deuteronomy™ 2.3.3
- Caused system instability; upon reboot it would crash the entire system and cause a quick reboot. Very odd.
- Also tried with SuperSU root and had the same result.
ARISE Deuteronomy™ 2.4 Alpha 8-8
- Seems kinda unstable (as to when it's enabled) and has no effect...like at all.
Viper4Android; drivers installed via apps.
Also tried that HTC 10 audio effects zip, which didn't help.
Thanks!
Also I use Viper10 4.2.0 and works for me Arise version of Exodus

ABOUT CAMERA
G6 camera is not perfect in our system. I haven't been able to fix some of the bugs that it has:
Taking RAW pictures will freeze camera and you will have to reboot device. There are two solutions:
First is to select RAW picture saving option, and then MINIMIZE camera app or just push recents button and return back. Camera will take RAW pictures perfectly, but if you change camera mode, and return to manual mode and RAW picture saving, then you have to repeat the method.
Second is to flash original G4 Nougat camera. This flash WON'T REPLACE G6 camera. Just will add it and you will be able to take RAW pictures with it.
Adding signature doesn't work (but yes in gallery app). I asked for some files required for it in G6 forum but nobody helped me.
Camera effects only are available in video recording. For pictures is integrated in G6 main camera lib file, so it never will work.

Good teacher and best friend :highfive:
First try at this new H-Rom G6 Port... and SUCCESS !
- Nandroid backup using TWRP of my v20p H-Rom.
- Then, full wipes in TWRP (dalvik/art, system, data, and cache).
- After, flashing the N-Bootloader, the H-rom G6 port, and the SuperSU bin.
- A long time rebooting (including the "lock bootloader" msg ), and then, android starts.
You know what ? No data problem !!! (I'm sure that my data problems were the modemst1 and modemst2 which are not present in this H-rom G6 port).
The only thing missing for me is the H-Setting app (maybe in a future release ?)
Great job @Astrako ! My thanks goes to @Astrako, @kessaras, @Mr.FREE_Bird, @steadfasterX, @renzetti.s and @keriox, You make a golden team! (I hope I forgot nobody !)

It's too soon to ask, you need to wait at least 2 cycles to let the battery and the kernel stabilize.
Anyways, I think it will be the same as MM if not a little bit better thanks to the improvements in Android N
Thank you for G6 port <3 so far still trying lovely stock firmware, when I'm done with it this one is definitely next on flashing list does it support G6 themes or V20 themes like stock?

I think the V10 camera port is much better. It is essential the G4 camera but with RAW video capabilities. If installed correctly to the system, there are no drawbacks or problems at all.

I already tried the changing the display size setting in LineageOS and it's not letting me get tablet UI in the apps I use.

There are 1.13, 1.14 and 1.15 App Settings that works on Nougat but they are posted inside the thread about it since they are "unofficial" enhancements.
I don't think any ROMs support Per App DPI since the demise of Paranoid Android Hybrid Engine when 4.4 arrived. I haven't seen any ROM with something similar since PA/PAC based on 4.3. It would be great if such a thing did exist but it doesn't.

I tried 1.13 a couple of days ago with no luck. Didn't know about 1.14 and 1.15, I will give those a try, I jumped from Marshmallow when I saw xposed finally supported Nougat, just to discover AppSettings didn't work
Thanks for pointing this out, skyjersey. I'm still in Marshmallow and I'm thinking about moving to Nougat especially that xposed now works and also to try Google HDR+. App Settings not yet working gives me a reason to delay my move.
If xposed is not a problem go skyolinhelper - worka good on N and can set per app dpi.

HI
My wired Xbox 360 controller works fine on my Sony Xperia SP and Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1. It also works fine on the PC without any issue.
But when i connect it to the Note 5 Pro (the global variant not the Indian one), the Xbox logo keeps flashing and nothing happens. It simply just keeps flashing and that's it.
I also tried a Chinese game pad with the same results (ok on the other devices but not on the Note 5).
After some searching i found a thread in 'androidcentral' under the title "Note 5 & Xbox360 wireless controller won't work", and the solution was to use a kernel that supports the Xbox 360 controller.
So, has anyone tried the Xbox 360 controller on the Note 5 Pro? also if there is a custom kernel that supports it please mention it.
Many thanks.
==========================================================================
UPDATE:::::
let's wrap this up, to solve this issue you have to flash a custom kernel, and right now we have two options:
*KangarooX kernel by ktommy91, you can find it here:
ktommy91 said:
I enabled the xpad driver, should work with my kernel. https://goo.gl/pKopnJ
Click to collapse
*InsigniuX kernel by nibaji, you can find it in the custom roms forum.
For me, after flashing the KangarooX I faced some issues (check thread comments for more details), but that does not mean it would occur to you.
Do not forget to take a nandroid backup before flashing kernels.
==========================================================================
not working me to tried.........please make redmi note 5 pro to use xbox 360 wired and wireless controller(wirless receiver) using OTG.
I tried adding keylayouts ...all method not working......................................please support us
It is definitely a software issue, not a hardware one. And as I said, the dude at android central managed to solve this issue by using a custom kernel.
So lets hope that the developers make a kernel that supports the Xbox controllers.
I used a free app called gamepad tester and it lists the connected devices (including OTG devices).
On the Sony phone I can clearly see the Xbox controller in the connected devices list, but nothing shows up on the note 5.
Hope this narrows down the problem.

Need to flash the kernel, perfboost config and popup fixer if needed. Black screen made by the harassing **** tanks... IT security and rule of law FTW.
so.... I clean installed Havoc-OS 9.0 and unfortunately had the same result, touch was not working and black screen after 5 seconds.
I tried AOSP Extended 8.1 rom and the touch was not working but no black screen.
Is there a specific rom I should use with your kernel?
BTW, the way I installed it was: wipe everything, install rom and GAPPs, install kernel and perfboost config zip files.
Well, is it possible for you to make a flashable zip file to enable the xpad drivers without the whole kernel?
I think this way I won't face those problems.
Thanks.
