I created a tool a while back for Galaxy S II owners to backup and restore the '/efs' partition and perform basic NV Repair on their devices.
This proved so popular that I recently updated the application which now includes a feature to automatically detect the mount point of the '/efs' partition. This allows any supported device to be used with EFS Pro and also adds support for future devices.
Check out the link below for more info and download:

I actually spot your program a few days back in the GSII forum, the EFS file seems small, should not be a problem right?

Guys,
for those of you having issues with the app, just do it yourself. It's not like it's complicated:
su
dd if=/dev/block/platform/omap/omap_hsmmc.0/by-name/efs of=/sdcard/efs.img
Done. The file will be called efs.img in /sdcard.

EFS Pro has now been updated to v1.8.3.
Nexus S / Galaxy Nexus support has now been fixed hopefully.
Differences in the 'efs' location, name and partition layout was causing issues.
Please test this new version and post your feedback please as I dont have a physical device to test on.

There's another app I know of that claims to be able to back up and restore efs on the gnex and some other galaxy devices. It's called kTool and you can read about it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1314719
or search for it on Playstore.
It seems to back it up OK, but I hesitate to do a test restore, since a problem there could permabrick the phone. Has anyone actually personally verified that kTool restores the efs partition reliably?

Hi, efrant. I assume the efs partition or IMEI is checksummed somewhere in such a way that you couldn't simply dump the efs, alter the IMEI with a hex editor, and write it back?

That's an excellent question. It is and it isn't. Have a read of this thread. (I honestly haven't really looked into, but I guess I could if there is a need for it. And I don't really want to get myself or XDA in trouble by talking about cloned IMEIs. )
Yup. Ditto.
thanks for your efforts putting this together OP.
suggestion: this could be moved to themes & apps, perhaps?

Hi
I having a huge problem, i restored efs img through efs pro (latest version) and it mounted and pushed files ok, but before it finished it wrot efs backup is corrupted (or similar) do not use this backup.. and then rebooted phone - and since there have been NO way to mount/delete/format the efs dir on sd, cant root, install rom from cwm or anything because its totally locked it seems, installed twrp 2.3.3.0 and its working, but im not able to mount efs dir from here either , i tried format all data/cache/system/sd but still unable to mount efs it says????
and says there is no sim card even there is.
Only thing i can is flash stock rom from sammy but not latest v 4.1.1 only v 4.0.4 then it boots to os but tells me its in factory mode (no wi-fi bla)
if i flash 4.1.1 its gets stuck on galaxy boot logo - tried flashing syiah 1.86 through odin but just hangs on siyah logo!!!
What do i do ? is the phone softbricked or what PLZ help out - big thanx in advance

I have a phone backup not the EFS backup. The Imei got corrupted all of a sudden. Next time i'll keep a EFS backup. i have few stock roms but i don't have Modem / recovery Roms and i found this thread " http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31986738&postcount=6 " but the links are dead. You got any links to download stock ROMS along with Modem / Recovery / Bootloader , then please do share. Also, ROM links are slow if you can provide fast meta link that would help.

Did you create a nandroid backup of your previous firmware?
Otherwise if not, try following two things that hopefully will help.
1. check if the EFS folder is just unmounted, if so- mount it
2. try to flash with Odin exactly the same firmware you've used before
Samsung service can restore your IMEI number w/o problem for few $

Shell command or custom recovery?

You don't have to extract it! EFS Professional will install it as .img file
You are very lucky to have that backup. It is very likely that it is also restorable by any custom recovery, or with a terminal command

Thanks for the suggestion. I already tried flashing baseband through recovery. The problem was with bad EFS. After trying all the possible options I found that phone has to be unlocked using BOX. So I tool that to a repair shop and ultimately got the phone working.
Dear All,
I was wondering if it would be possible to make a complete backup of my LG G4's stock ROM and recovery using TWRP (by booting into TWRP with fastboot, but not flashing it and then making a full nandroid backup including recovery).
Does anybody know if this is possible (I haven't tried it)?

Just out of interest, would the TWRP method work?
