Which is the best 8.1 ROM with best performance and battery life? With oxygen OS features like long screenshot, App lock ,Gaming mode and download speed in status bar?
Long screen shot afaik only in OOS. But gaming mode and download speed statusbar there is lot of rom have that features. Like Xtended, Havoc, and other rom like RR based but they do not have the gaming mode. You can enable the gaming mode in Quick Settings, the function almost the same they disabled head up notification and disable hardware key when gaming mode enabled.

Thanks for your reply.
So I guess I'll have to use a third party app for long screenshots. That's a bummer.
What about Built in App lock?
And which rom in your experience had the best battery life and performance? I'm willing to try custom kernels too.

App lock also only OOS have that feature. You'll have to use 3rd party app to use applock.
Depends on user, there is lot of custom rom out there and you gonna need to try it yourself to suit it with your taste. Some rom does not have all features, I've flashed almost all custom rom for OP3 Nougat, Oreo and Pie. For Nougat I would recommend Zenity RR and NucleaRom. Oreo, Havoc OS, RR Luis, Xtended, except Havoc and Xtended rom most RR based rom does not have gaming mode. For Pie, there is a few as Pie is still new, Xtended Pie and Havoc Pie. Havoc rom is one of the rom that has most of all the features custom rom have. Try Mady Kernel for best battery life for Oreo and Pie custom rom.

OmniDragon is a very smooth and stable ROM (based on AOSP with a really good kernel preinstalled), with enough features and it has the best download speed meter imo

Just got done trying Omni for about 3 days. It has a lot of features and customization. But I noticed some minor ui lag and frame drops on it. Not the smoothest.
Right now I'm on Los 15.1 Lesser customization but it feels smoother to me.
Camera?
I'm looking for a new custom rom for my oneplus 3. I'm on open beta and getting a bit bored.
I've used custom roms before but always found the camera to be a bit crappy. Can anyone recommend a custom rom with the same features on the camera, such as slow motion video and all that?
Thanks

Greetings to all I'm a first-time MIUI user and I would like to know if I switch to lineage OS what features from the MIUI system I'm going to lose. Only the exclusive one, i have identified one in particular which is that the phone turns on with an Alarm set on the stock Clock app.
Any other features that can't be replicated?
Which Lineage OS features would be nice to see in MIUI?
Please give some feedback as I'm a rom developer and want to know the approach I'll take for DTUX CORP ROM.
Thank you
Switching to lineage I would miss the gesture navigation only.
I would like the feature of swiping down on the finger print sensor to open notification shade in miui and Lineage

One question buddy
What features of MIUI are NOT present in Lineage OS?
I ask this because with project Treble, Lineage OS is running very stable even without the kernel source which is impressive and it might be easier to add to LineageOS what's missing from MIUI rather than adding more to the MIUI Heavy Skin
Lineage OS needs a stock camera port, then it would be perfect.
Two good things in MIUI that I look forward to be implemented in LOS are
1) Camera app
2) Gesture based navigation (It kinda grows with usage)
Currently in MIUI 9.5 leaked Stable. Ignoring the little amount of bloat, this version of MIUI looks rock solid.

How do you enable it?
The camera is the biggest problem. Without MIUI, only one camera sensor will work, and you lost the "AI" feature in MIUI camera. On my device, camera in Lineage OS is so bad that I give it up.

Ok! Got it, let's see how possible this camera app port could be.
How is Screen on time on Lineage OS? I always find posts from many devices saying its way less than stock. Can you share with us your personal findings on that aspect?
Thanks in advance

Interesting, with some more debloating it could be GOLD.

If the camera port comes thru then we'll all be on LOS, if not then a heavily debloated MIUI 9.5 should be the ideal thing.

I can not answer you for now because I have never had a phone with MIUI OS between the hands and the Redmi Note 5 Global will be my first phone with MIUI...and it did not even get shipped from China yet

I think that a heavily debloated MIUI with an app drawer and the ability to sort the apps alphabetically would be the best choice

i do agree on leaning towards debloated MIUI but we are gifted to have a device with Dual boot possible so we don't have to limit ourselfs
Ok! I made this thread to know the differences from other users experience, but, none voiced it properly so I had to do it myself...
MIUI over RR / LOS
-------------------------------
-Camera portrait mode / image quality
-Fm radio
-wake on fingerprint sensor touch without registering a finger.
-one hand mode
-native call recording
-more stable
-Miui Themes (personal preference)
RR / LOS over MIUI
-------------------------------
-EXTREMELY LIGHT AND CONFIGURABLE
-stock Android
-more compatible mods
-bloatware free!
Because of the first 3 items MIUI has over stock Android I went back to MIUI after a couple of days. It's better to debloat stock rather than losing important features.
To tell the truth as far as I have been using MIUI OREO Rom in my Note 5 AI just because of
1. Smooth full screen gesture.
2. Most important The Stock camera which can utilize the camera hardware fully.
3. The stability of battery backup.

And gestures (implemented in Android P).

What i miss on miui is the volume dialog when casting to a chromecast or google home.
You can control cast volume but no volume dialog is shown so you can't change other volume sliders when casting or see the casting volume.

RR doesnt have fullscreen gestures either. AEX is probably using the same one. Its not the fullscreen gestures that is on MIUI.
so no full screen gestures on any custom roms as of now?

no need... you can use the apps screen gestures, one plus gestures or egde gestures from play store ????
AEX got full screen gestures... While the MIUI ones are definitely superior they work (most of the time) after you get use to them.
Bump...
I'm wondering this as of now. Which custom ROMs (other than official MIUI) have full screen gestures feature?
I know it's not baked in, but have a look at the app Fluid gestures.
It's probably the closet app that replicates it. In beta stages but i don't seem to have any issues
AOSiP supports fullscreen gestures, in my opinion best custom rom yet (based on oreo)
So, none of the other custom ROMs include full screen gestures in MIUI?
It's the best feature of MIUI.

Yep! It's one of the best features! But some guy is developing an outstanding app based on miui gestures! I'm facing no bug so far and has some improvements over miui.
Fluid navigation gesture. It on Playstore
Although the pro version doenst have mouth difference, I. Suggest it baceuase it's cheap and the dev deserve the support

Nitrogen OS
Switched from nexus 6p, loving oxygen os but dont know what custom roms to go with. Ideas? certainly need good battery life, performance isnt important as long as the ui doesnt lag.
Old Post
(I upgraded from my Nexus 6P not too long ago mainly because of it loosing support, i ran Pure Nexus which was damn fast, had all the features and customization i personally could need along with working substratum, and great battery life considering how old the device was at the time. Now i do like Oxygen OS but its not as close to stock as im used to. Is there any quality, no-compromises rom that has tons of customization, the same great battery life as stock, and the performance i need to play games when not using my phone for school. I've looked at Lineage, AOSP Pie, and neither of them really worked well enough for me, both had battery life issues, (used their kernels and Elemental X), and they didnt provide the out of the box customization that ive come to love and expect. Any ideas?)
Candy ROM, Havoc OS, TreskMod, AEX
Those are my top ROMS for now. BUT, I'm on stable OOS 5.1.4 with francokernel right now. Mainly because of OOS Camera. But u can always OOS Camera M for custom ROMS. Hope this helps
EDIT: Reasons I can't leave Oxygen OS
1. Fully Working Camera (not to mention, you can edit slo-mo videos in native gallery app)
2. Oneplus Gesture Navigation (Some ROMS have this but not as smooth as OOS, also transition animations are better IMO)
3. Long/Scrolling Screenshot
4. Better Face Unlock
---------- Post added at 02:46 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:35 AM ----------
For customization, I just use JOneplus Tools & Tiles app for added functionalities (disabling heads-up, extra tiles, more accent color options). Well, those are only the things that I care of when it comes to customization.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5t/development/rom-havoc-os-t3813180
Havoc OS has gcam screen gestures all the features you can think of A+ for sure
I would say you to stick with Oxygen OS. Like you myself coming from nexus 6p,nexus 5.. always ran custom ROM (Mostly PureNexus). Like PureNexus, OxygenOS has most essential customisation options and also stable. While most of other custom roms have too much features or very less.
Other than that you can use Magisk modules, custom kernels, substratum to customize. Also I suggest you to use OxygenOS Open beta rather than stable line.
I come from Nexus 5X and I have been experimenting with the ROMs myself. I've known Dirty Unicorns that was pretty good on my N5X but on the 5T it has a terrible battery life, even with other kernels. Also it's a pain in the ass dealing with the camera. The Gcam mods are okay but some feature don't work, so it's not so reliable.
Hi,
All is in the title: between Resurrection Remix 6.2.1 or LineageOS 15.1, what would you choose (or have already chosen) for a Lenovo P2?
I look for stability, bug free and secure rom.

Well I have used both I can share my experience.
1. Stability wise both are nearly same as RR is Los based and uses Mike's source. Personally, I did not find any issue on both regarding stability.
2. Both share the same wifi deep sleep bug. I did not find anything else.
3. Both are big names, so nothing to worry about who is more secure. But in Los SELinux status is enforcing while its premissive on other. So, better to go with Los here.
But Los lacks customisation. They are removing so called feature with every release. On the other hand RR have tons of them.
Hope this helps!
SELinux is Enforcing in RR. Whereas, Video capture and Slow motion capture is available in RR only. I don't know if LOS and other ROMs have catch up or not as I'm on RR for quite some time now. Deep sleep bug can be controlled by switching WiFi tethering On and Off after using WiFi.
Android is all about customization and RR is what Android needs to be!
My bad if its Enforcing in RR.
Yes RR have tons customisation which also I mentioned earlier.
But I dont think RR would be more stable as it also uses Mike's source and also strongly believe Los will support those camera features. Obsession is right but U can't ignore the big elephant in the room i.e LOS here.
Hahahaha.. No one is obsessed here, only experienced here. Why would a guy leave its fully stable stock ROM for a dull and feature less ROM which doesn't give stable experience, eats battery and lacks customization :silly:
If I am not wrong then AOSP is even bigger elephant but nobody cares.
?? If it was experience then u would have not termed it as unstable and battery drainer.
I use Los and I know how it works.
Yeah! RR is a great Rom but that don't make others unworthy.
What you think
What about liquid remix custom rom
RR is stable and comes with tones of customization. My favorite is the edge guesters which provides a truly botton less navigation experience.
Never liked LOS much because of lack of customizations. Mike has done an amazing job with it. Too bad that apart from RR no one else use his sources for making ROMs.
Cr Droid 9.0 pie is better
I tried all Roms but c4 Droid is better rom
For Oreo: CrDroid is the best option, also don't forget to flash highwstar's camera(Only use VERSION v2-7.1, it's for nougat and oreo). fix. As well as Astrids Video recording fix. So that every camera works. (Photo and Video recording, also no wrong time shown after recording video)
For Pie: Every Rom build after the 24.11 is good. And don't forget to flash video recording fix! Only that one is needed.
Video Recording Fix: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-p2/themes/fix-video-recording-t3811600

Msm Xtended and Syberia OS - Filled with customizations

No bugs in AOSiP, very smooth ROM. Wifi disconnects some times (doesn't annoy me), but I guess this problem is prevelant in all popular pie ROM's

Yes, I have this problem constantly in all of the Android Pie ROMs. For me the Wi-Fi disconnects both whilst using the device and also when the device is in sleep mode. It's annoying because when the Wi-Fi disconnects in sleep mode, it will not reconnect until I manually wake the phone. So I end up missing a lot of important notifications. I heard from other people who also have the same problem. One person said that having his phone in airplane mode (with Wi-Fi enabled) made the problem worse. This is also the same in my experience.
