hi everyone, in 23 hours I will be able to unlock my bootloader and I will install a custom ROM. I really like Xiaomi's full display gestures and I was wondering if any of the custom ROMs have them because that is a feature I will miss for sure.. thanks

I've used AEX but the gestures aren't that smooth and responsive.(kudos to the maintainer though,)
Is the gesture navigation better on RR ?

RR doesnt have fullscreen gestures either. AEX is probably using the same one. Its not the fullscreen gestures that is on MIUI.
so no full screen gestures on any custom roms as of now?

no need... you can use the apps screen gestures, one plus gestures or egde gestures from play store ????
AEX got full screen gestures... While the MIUI ones are definitely superior they work (most of the time) after you get use to them.
Bump...
I'm wondering this as of now. Which custom ROMs (other than official MIUI) have full screen gestures feature?
I know it's not baked in, but have a look at the app Fluid gestures.
It's probably the closet app that replicates it. In beta stages but i don't seem to have any issues
AOSiP supports fullscreen gestures, in my opinion best custom rom yet (based on oreo)
So, none of the other custom ROMs include full screen gestures in MIUI?
It's the best feature of MIUI.

Yep! It's one of the best features! But some guy is developing an outstanding app based on miui gestures! I'm facing no bug so far and has some improvements over miui.
Fluid navigation gesture. It on Playstore
Although the pro version doenst have mouth difference, I. Suggest it baceuase it's cheap and the dev deserve the support

Greetings to all I'm a first-time MIUI user and I would like to know if I switch to lineage OS what features from the MIUI system I'm going to lose. Only the exclusive one, i have identified one in particular which is that the phone turns on with an Alarm set on the stock Clock app.
Any other features that can't be replicated?
Which Lineage OS features would be nice to see in MIUI?
Please give some feedback as I'm a rom developer and want to know the approach I'll take for DTUX CORP ROM.
Thank you
Switching to lineage I would miss the gesture navigation only.
I would like the feature of swiping down on the finger print sensor to open notification shade in miui and Lineage

One question buddy
What features of MIUI are NOT present in Lineage OS?
I ask this because with project Treble, Lineage OS is running very stable even without the kernel source which is impressive and it might be easier to add to LineageOS what's missing from MIUI rather than adding more to the MIUI Heavy Skin
Lineage OS needs a stock camera port, then it would be perfect.
Two good things in MIUI that I look forward to be implemented in LOS are
1) Camera app
2) Gesture based navigation (It kinda grows with usage)
Currently in MIUI 9.5 leaked Stable. Ignoring the little amount of bloat, this version of MIUI looks rock solid.

How do you enable it?
The camera is the biggest problem. Without MIUI, only one camera sensor will work, and you lost the "AI" feature in MIUI camera. On my device, camera in Lineage OS is so bad that I give it up.

How is Screen on time on Lineage OS? I always find posts from many devices saying its way less than stock. Can you share with us your personal findings on that aspect?
Thanks in advance

If the camera port comes thru then we'll all be on LOS, if not then a heavily debloated MIUI 9.5 should be the ideal thing.

i do agree on leaning towards debloated MIUI but we are gifted to have a device with Dual boot possible so we don't have to limit ourselfs
Ok! I made this thread to know the differences from other users experience, but, none voiced it properly so I had to do it myself...
MIUI over RR / LOS
-------------------------------
-Camera portrait mode / image quality
-Fm radio
-wake on fingerprint sensor touch without registering a finger.
-one hand mode
-native call recording
-more stable
-Miui Themes (personal preference)
RR / LOS over MIUI
-------------------------------
-EXTREMELY LIGHT AND CONFIGURABLE
-stock Android
-more compatible mods
-bloatware free!
Because of the first 3 items MIUI has over stock Android I went back to MIUI after a couple of days. It's better to debloat stock rather than losing important features.
To tell the truth as far as I have been using MIUI OREO Rom in my Note 5 AI just because of
1. Smooth full screen gesture.
2. Most important The Stock camera which can utilize the camera hardware fully.
3. The stability of battery backup.

What i miss on miui is the volume dialog when casting to a chromecast or google home.
You can control cast volume but no volume dialog is shown so you can't change other volume sliders when casting or see the casting volume.
Hello
I want to buy a RN5 Global, but before I want to know if some special features and feature combinations are available.
Please add information of which rom you use (miui9/10/custom) to your answer. Thank you
1. Is it possible to use Face unlock + fingerprint + double tap to wake together?
2. Can you swipe down on the fingerprint sensor to pull down the statusbar/notification panel (like on oneplus phones)?
I think its really nice to have on 18:9 phones
3. Is skipping music tracks by long pressing the volume keys available in Miui?
4. Can I use Gcam port like on SD820 devices ( & without unlocking bootloader)?
Bonus: Whats the most stable custom rom right now and is it really bug free to use as a daily driver?
I think thats all for now.
Thank you for all answers
1)Yes.
2)No you cant swipe down on the finger print scanner for notifications/status bar to show, but you can pull down the status bar from anywhere on the homescreen by swiping down.
3)No.
4)No.
The most stable custom rom (imo) is lineage, I would adv8ce installing a custom kernel [BlackBox or NoName]
.
I would also recommend Miui 10, very stable, very smooth, and its also an eye candy.

Thank you too, I thought I try to stay stock for a while, but with this answers no way
I've got my Redmi Note 5 AI last week and I liked MIUI but I want to go android stock/custom roms with more customization e clean system.
As I see, there is no such big bugs to worry about with Whyred custom roms, they seem to work pretty fine.
But I'm guessing if I'll lose Full Screen Gestures (and other Full Screen Display functions in settings panel), it's my first 18:9 phone with settings like this, so I don't know if it's android stock function or MIUI function.
Most custom roms support full screen gesture as i have tried it on resurrection rom. Dont worry just flash it.

how ????
I moved from MIUI to RR because I do enjoy a stock experience, however I do miss the full screen gestures of MIUI. Although RR does have full screen gestures, they just are not as fluid/good as MIIUI's one and I always end up going back to the classic nav bar. I wish Xiaomi just included hardware buttons at the bottom (there is plenty of space for it)
I was afraid of that, I think the experience with MIUI Full Screen Gestures are great and fluid and I was worried about that being worse in custom roms. But I'm still thinking about changing to custom roms and see what I cant get. I'll research more abou that.

You should try AOSPExtended
You won't exactly get full screen gestures, but similar experience on few custom roms.
You can use GMD gesture instead, much better than any current available gesture navigation.
Dont hope the gesture in custom rom is same as miui..its not like miui..
Its more difficult to operate for me
Greetings..

Have anyone tried flashing the Treble roms on to the P20 lite? If yes, please share with us which ROM and how good/bad it is.
Seems like Treble ROMs are the way forward since we do not see custom development happening anytime soon.
In case you are unfamiliar with Treble, please read Treble FAQ
Treble ROMs can be downloaded from the forum
I'm in the openkirin group in telegram, being so far I think the only lineageOs tester with Android 8.1 in the p20 lite and so far the only serious problem is the camera
If we talk about other aspects, the navigation bar is still a bit smaller than the notch, the contacts of the Sim card are nonexistent, you can not change the internal storage to the SD card and finally the facial recognition is not enabled
Edit: full screen display mode is available, but you have to activate it manually from the settings (applications that do not appear in full screen do not give the option to adapt them as it does in stock)
I tried Lineage and RR (v22) from phhusson as well as the official RR which i use as a daily driver. They work mostly fine except for some minor issues... Music usually plays through the speakers even when headphones are plugged in and it sometimes randomly stops. When charging while turned off, the device boots into eRecovery. The notch is not really supported but RR allows you to move the clock to the left. This way, icons are less likely to be hidden behind the notch. Additionally there are some rom-specific bugs like some settings not doing anything in RR. Battery life is pretty good (I dont use gapps).
The issues will probably get fixed eventually when someone provides logs.
Is the official better than the phhusson one ?
I tried it and was not can of it I think P will be better for the Huawei P20 because of the notch support and navbar replacement by touch gestures.
I tried RR, AOSP, Pixel Experience and Los.
Too much broken features to use it as a daily driver.
For the moment I run the stock rom debloated with adb.

I didnt notice any difference between the phhusson RR build and the official one so far. RR has several options to replace the navbar too btw. I personally use fling which is highly customizable. There is also the option to use edge gestures or a pie menu. System wide gestures are available too but can only be used to launch apps.

Basically all the problems I mentioned before. But those are the same with all treble roms I tried. Generally RR seems less polished than Lineage and some features are broken, e.g. dark theme in settings. Nothing critical though... However, I only tested the stuff I commonly use (calling, wifi, bluetooth etc. works fine for me).
Someone on phhussons Github reported that his P20 lite overheats when fast charging but for me it works flawlessly.
I don't see the P20 lite as being "treble" supported at this time. What am I missing? I would love to get vinalla android on this and give the device some performance improvements.

Oh the P20lite very much supports Treble. You can check on your own device using a terminal app, type:
Code:
getprop ro.treble.enabled
If the result is true, Treble is supported.
or if you're rooted, simply open the build.prop file (at your own risk!) and check.
Alternately, here is a page with a list of Treble supported devices:
Treble devices list
I do not understand much about treble, but I want my device to always have the latest android available, does your comment means that I can have that in my P20 lite?
Here is a very detailed description of Treble.
Link
Treble is aimed to provide updates to all the devices that support treble at the same time. Since P20 is already shipped with the latest android version, it is irrelevant at this time. But in case you want to flash third party ROMs such as Lineage, there are Treble version of these ROMs that are common for all the Treble devices.
The problem I ran into was the notch.
Obviously these ROMs don't support it really. So notifications go all the way along the top.
Did I miss something?

Yes they don't really support the notch. This is because these ROMs are for all the Brands/models that support Treble and most of them don't have a notch.

Which is the best 8.1 ROM with best performance and battery life? With oxygen OS features like long screenshot, App lock ,Gaming mode and download speed in status bar?
Long screen shot afaik only in OOS. But gaming mode and download speed statusbar there is lot of rom have that features. Like Xtended, Havoc, and other rom like RR based but they do not have the gaming mode. You can enable the gaming mode in Quick Settings, the function almost the same they disabled head up notification and disable hardware key when gaming mode enabled.

So I guess I'll have to use a third party app for long screenshots. That's a bummer.
What about Built in App lock?

App lock also only OOS have that feature. You'll have to use 3rd party app to use applock.
Depends on user, there is lot of custom rom out there and you gonna need to try it yourself to suit it with your taste. Some rom does not have all features, I've flashed almost all custom rom for OP3 Nougat, Oreo and Pie. For Nougat I would recommend Zenity RR and NucleaRom. Oreo, Havoc OS, RR Luis, Xtended, except Havoc and Xtended rom most RR based rom does not have gaming mode. For Pie, there is a few as Pie is still new, Xtended Pie and Havoc Pie. Havoc rom is one of the rom that has most of all the features custom rom have. Try Mady Kernel for best battery life for Oreo and Pie custom rom.

Just got done trying Omni for about 3 days. It has a lot of features and customization. But I noticed some minor ui lag and frame drops on it. Not the smoothest.
Right now I'm on Los 15.1 Lesser customization but it feels smoother to me.
Camera?
I'm looking for a new custom rom for my oneplus 3. I'm on open beta and getting a bit bored.
I've used custom roms before but always found the camera to be a bit crappy. Can anyone recommend a custom rom with the same features on the camera, such as slow motion video and all that?
Thanks
