Which ROM wakes the device on alarm? - Lenovo Vibe P1 Questions & Answers

The stock firmware turns on the device once an alarm is configured and the phone is turned off (given that it is charged).
I tested a few ROMs but that feature was missing, which is crucial because I use it on a daily basis.
Is there a ROM having such feature?
Thanks!

[Q] Is there any way to enable the alarm to work with the phone turned off?

My old Nokia was running the Symbian operating system
A feature that I found interesting was the alarm that activated the phone, even though the device was turned off.
I was surprised by Galaxy W does not have this functionality, I did some research and saw that many smartphones are coming without this functionality.
I wonder if it is possible via software to enable this function W Galaxy being turned off.

Haha~~"dead like a stone" I like your description!
I guess it is because Symbian is a relatively "light" OS compared to android. The time it takes to boot up is shorter and consume less power. Hence, let alarm clock activating the phone is faster and less power loss. If you try to keep rebooting your android system, u can see significant drop in the battery life every time.
I recommend u to use some profile scheduler apps such as Go Power master. It can set ur phone automatically run Airplane mode at night but keep ur alarm clock running. The power consumption is very low in airplane mode, almost like turning off the phone.

[Q] Just got X Ion, fully updated and root, some Qs

I have a fully officially updated ion, at 4.1.2, rooted, but bootloader is locked
I have xposed and gravity box installed and i have a few questions
i can't seem to find any options in the dev in settings, or gravity box where i have turn on the option to hold on back button to force close an app
brightness seems messed up, i like to use this spare phone in the bed as an alarm clock and use during night time before bed, so i go to minimum brightness long with rootdim to get it to the lowest possible brightness possible, but for some reason, it at any time could randomly change brightness to 25%
if i lock the phone and unlock it, it would default to 25%
(this happens even without using rootdim)
it's really annoying if anyone knows what's up and how to stop it
is there any reason why i should install custom rom on it?
the battery is not the best, not sure if custom rom will help, i've already disabled/uninstalled ALOT of sony crap immediately after getting rooted and it runs pretty smoothly
i'd like to update to 4.4.x but if things are buggy or stuff isnt working properly like bluetooth or wifi, i'm perfectly fine with staying on stock because gravity box is awesome
seems like ion wont be getting custom roms past 4.4.x

Is there a way to improve standby time?

Is there a way to increase standby time? I have used both euphoria, clean, and the stock rom with elementalx kernel with dt2w, but they dont seem to help.
Some suggestions:
Make sure dt2w is disabled if using a kernel that supports it, it will eat up battery. If you're wanting to maximize standby time, don't use any mods/features that will cause the device's sensors to constantly "listen" while in standby. If you must use these features (or other similar ones like ambient display), understand it will decrease your standby time.
Configure your wi-fi settings to never stay on while sleeping. Similarly, turn off location and bluetooth or use airplane mode when you'll be setting the device down for a bit (or any time you're not actively using them). No need for any of the radios to be on if you're not even using the device.
Don't leave games or apps running in the background when done with the device, kill them all first. Many apps can keep the device awake (either for longer than usual or even indefinitely) if actively running. My wife plays a couple of games on her tablet that are very bad about this.
You can use GSAM battery monitor or any other similar app to see if you are experiencing any wakelocks while the device is sleeping. If so, track them down and adjust your setup accordingly.
Lots of folks also use Greenify, as it can do the job for you of making sure some of the wakelock-happy apps stay hibernating.
Hope some of that helps.
I flashed Marshmallow the day it was released for this and I haven't used it much so it's sat there with Wifi on when screen is on and I think I'm ~50% left after a week? Do you have wifi on? What does betterbatterystats say is keeping the device awake?
Thanks for the advice. Do any other things other than dt2w, ambient display, and ok Google cause the sensors to listen?
I keep the WiFi on and when i use gsam battery monitor, i don't have wake locks.

Alarm clock not working

So, I already tried everything, I cannot get my alarm clock working properly no matter what app I am using, stock, Timely, 5 more apps, nothing is working. Only when I set alarm to next <2 hours but this is useless to me. I was looking for this problem on xda or 1+ forum, no solutions for my case.
- I tried changing volume for alarm - no difference
- disabled battery optimization for alarm clock apps + clock stock app - nothing
- factory reset to wipe all data and cache - nothing
- newest oos
- my phone isn't in silent mode
I think I know where is problem, when I unlock phone every morning I need to put PIN there ( I have fingerprint unlock as default) so my phone reboot every night.
Possible solutions:
Disable PIN after start so stock alarm can wake me up (because it has that function in application) - I tried disable PIN, not working (any ideas?)
Remove these random reboots - newest oos fixed this they said, but not in my case.
Don't get me wrong, I am happy with this phone, however in a few days I need to wake up exactly in right time.
Btw. I had exactly this problem on my old Sony Xperia U if it is worth mentioning. But on that phone that started maybe after 2 years, not in day 1 like in this case.
As you can see, My english is not my native language but I am trying to do my best
Do you have your phone shutting off at night by any chance and you have your security set to require PIN entry when device boots?
Or if your phone is randomly rebooting in the middle of the night and you have your security set to require a PIN entry when booting the device, this is most likely the reason why your alarm clock is not working. Lock screen PIN or fingerprint should make no difference.
No, I already disable it.
Today I perform some tests about this thing and I discovered this. When I enable setting in clock stock app for 1+3 "Wake if device is powered off" . It doesn't wake or ring when phone is off (with full battery of course). Anyone can check this if it is working for some people?
Anything else, I tried set alarm for next 5 minutes and reboot device. After phone is booted up, it require pin (lockscreen, so no pre-boot stage) BUT alarm is working! So from my side it looks like when doze mode is activated itself, it cause problems with alarm, even stock one.
///EDIT: Wake if power off is now working! I just enabled smartlock with my current location and now phone is turned on itself 2 minutes before alarm. I will test this correctly next morning (here is 21:13). I hope I can bypass doze mode this way.
Interesting...I took a little cat nap yesterday and set my alarm for 1 hour...when I woke up, I woke the phone (it was on) and the alarm sounded as soon as it woke, but at 1 hour and 23min (23min past when I set it). So possibility dose works too well? BTW I'm stock with 3.2.4 and function on with wake device for alarm.
It works! After not touching the phone for +-8 hours, phone wake up itself and start ringing in right time. So solution is:
-Using stock app,
-Enable "Wake if device is powered off"
- Turn off phone when you go to bed
This will bypass doze mode as I correctly predicted
But still, if doze mode is blocking stock alarm, it needs to be fixed soon as possible. For broken notifications too.
Have you tried Deskclock by Google ( Clock app ) on play store
Nope, I don't need to try any apps anymore. It is still working
It might be an idea to not optimize the clock app under the battery optimization settings. I have it as not optimized and it works fine for me
Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk
"- disabled battery optimization for alarm clock apps + clock stock app - nothing"
I already do that.
I have the same problem like viktorino. Stock alarm works while phone is not in doze mode, but once the mode starts the alarm does not produce any sound although it manages to turn the display on… Anyone has any more ideas? Don't want to turn my phone off every night.
My alarm does not work after latest updates it is not giving sound

Same here.. did you come across with any fix?
Only solution for me was to use google clock.
Weird thing.. Everytime I open google clock apk, an alert message is shown telling that alarm is silenced by default.
I can't understand why the haven't solved this yet.. it seams a quite simple bug to fix..
hi, what I am thinking is that it's not a alarm app problem, rather a sound problem, my op3 sometimes looses sound and when I try to play something from any app, that app stops responding. only thing temporary working is a reboot.
I've used alarmdroid reliably for years on many different devices. Works consistently on op as well. Using OB13 currently

I have developed this app post Marshmallow update and have circumvented the problem of missfiring alarms due to doze mode.
Besides this it offers more features & customizable options than other apps of this genre. Check playstore description for available app features.

I don't believe that the stock alarm clock can be optimized, at least by doze. Do you have root or done any mods such as wakelock blockers?
Did cleaned up the whole device. Only then stock alarm started working.

[Q] Auto power on/off feature

Hello guys,
For years (since I bought my first Android phone) I've asked myself: "Why the heck these smartphones can not turn on at a given time, as did my old java / symbian phones?!?!?!. Man, its a must-have feature, for those like me, that use the phone's alarm clock to wake up every working day! With all my old non-android phones, I could simply turn the phone off and let it "sleep" over night, saving A LOT OF BATTERY JUICE!
But unfortunately, when I bought my first android phone (in 2009), I simply "learned" that, tecnically, it is "impossible" to make it fire an alarm when it is powered off. I simply took it as an undisputed truth, and resigned myself from trying to find a workaround, because the apps on Play Store that claim "auto power on/off" don't REALLY do it, they just make the phone a little bit more battery-friendly over night by disabling phone calls, wifi, bluetooth, etc., but they DONT POWER THE PHONE OFF. Yeah, its better than nothing, but it is NOT like it was on symbian phones.
Then, I bought my Lenovo Vibe K5, and... SURPRISE!!! In the stock rom's Settings pannel, there is a new option that let the user configure the phone to auto power on/off at a given date/time!!!! Then, I asked myself "why on eart this feature is not available on other Android Phones?!?!?!?!
- Edit: I know that, tecnically, to be able to turn a phone on automatically, the phone can not be completely off (the battery needs to be in place and with some juice available - duhhh!!!). I know that it needs a triggerer (in other words, something like a computer's bios), but the fact is that my K5 Stock Rom really starts the Android system from boot. I wrote this because there are a lot of "experts" out there who uses to blame those who ask for this feature, saying that it is an impossible thing to accomplish, and bla-bla-bla...
Back to subject: Fact is that, because of this feature, I became even more fond of my K5: it powers off at night, saves battery, powers back on at morning, and fires the alarm. Sweeeet!
But unfortunately, after installing the AOSP Extended Rom, I noticed that this feature is gone. To be fair, it's a rock-solid rom, that I recommend to every K5 Plus user - but I really miss the feature (hey, rom developers, what about it?)
Before I decide if I do or do not reverse to stock rom, I ask you guys:
Why on Earth isn't the auto-power on/off feature available on all Android Phones?!?!?!?!
Edit 2: Sorry for my bad English.
Edit 3: To moderators: Sorry for posting in this category. Feel free to change this thread to the "Qhestions & Answers" thread.
Well, that feature isn't exactly needed anymore. Android's Doze features make sure the phone doesn't lose a lot of battery when left unused for long periods of time. If you lose more than ~5% of battery juice overnight (when it's already below 90%) on Marshmallow or Nougat, that's something to worry about.
Of course, you can turn Airplane Mode on every night and turn it off when you wake up, or write a script to do it for you, if you want to get the best out of your battery life. The "auto power on/off" feature existed in the stock ROM because of popular demand, and I doubt it's that important a feature to people using other phones and ROMs.

Android's since Marshmallow takes care of idling sleep. (see Doze mode: https://www.bignerdranch.com/blog/diving-into-doze-mode-for-developers/)
If you have high drain during idle, you probably have an issue with wakelocks preventing your phone to sleep (i.e. enter Doze).
Naptime's great if you want to make sure the go on Doze early, and to make sure it's reapplied after waking up.
