How can i remove root without using Magisk ? - Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite Questions & Answers

Hi guys,
I rooted my phone using the first method (flashing patched boot on A and B).
The problem is that magisk disappeared from my phone and i was wondering how can i remove root and have the original firmware again.
I am currently on the august patch.

You can check @BubuXP's reply here it might help you out.

Solved?

I flashed original boot img but OTA still doesn't apply.
The only solution might be to flash stock rom 9.4.0 (July) using MI flash tool but i'm afraid that It isn't possible to do it

Installed org boot with A/B?
Did u modify system partition? Like build.prop OR something?
If nothing works you must try using MI Flash tool with the stock ROM

I flashed original boot img on both partition and the update failed...
Do you think flashing an older version 9.4 causes problems ?
Now i'm running on version 9.6

I would like to keep data

Connect the Phone to the pc via USB in the flash tool must say "refresh" once you click refresh must apear your device with de adb/fastboot id. Then click select, choose the folder you've downloadwd, then click flash. Now wait until the flash tool says "flashed".
After that your Phone must have stock ROM ready for OTA. If you want to keep magisk i'll recomend you to follow BubuXp guide to install magisk with proper support for OTA's

Thank you very much, i will do it tomorrow.
One lady question, i saw that the rom is 9.4 while my device is running 9.6.
Is this a problem ?

There's no problem it will flash everything a leave the device with stock ROM, i recomend you to use the first way, you will lose the data, but I think is better, anyway i think both methods will lock the bootloader, so anyway you will lose the data, make backup and If u need something tell me.
Good luck, LB

[Q] unlock bootloader and OTA

I know some will say its answered somewhere in the forum , but i searched and it didnt give me a clear answer,
if i unlocked the bootloader and installed CWM and rooted my phone wothout flashing a new ROM, will i lose the ability to recive OTAs?
one more thing (sorry im asking alot) unlocking bootloader says that it will erase all phone data , does that include the SD card part of our phone since its internal ? will i lose the photos stored , or its just like flashing an RUU
Thank you so much

Firstly, yes you will lose the ability to receive OTA updates. With regards to the SD Card this will remain untouched.

Are you planning on using a stock rom or a custom rom?
EDIT: Sorry didn't read properly. Yes if you are using stock rom then you should be able to download the OTA update from somewhere on XDA. If you are using a custom rom then the chances are the Dev would have already updated there rom to the latest base.

in my understanding , you will have to unlock the bootloader and install a CWM recovery to root your phone and keep the stock ROM, but you will have to download and install the OTAs manually

Just flash back the stock recovery, relock the bootloader, reboot the phone, receive OTA update and install. Then re-root process again to have root access.

I deleted stock apps, help! :(

Hello I tried rooting my device using Kingo Root, well it was rooted successfully. Now, I messed up in deleting some bloatware apps from a list I saw before making a backup . Then when I click the settings>about device, it crashes. Then when I try to factory reset, the apps I uninstalled didn't came back. Please let me know what to do, I just want to make the phone the way I got it then root it.
ps: I googled and some say flash the stock room, I'm scared to flash it because I don't know the firmware version of my phone since I can't access the About device of my phone. I'm in the Philippines btw.
pps: I don't know if it might help but, I installed Kies and the fimware was the latest and it was: PDA:NC2 / PHONE:NA3 / CSC:NC2 (AFR); I don't know how to read that, no google result so far. I'm planning to download firmware from this site: //samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-I9082
Please help me Thank you!

Put SuperSU in your SDcard
Just Flash this recovery with Odin
Make Sure "Auto-Reboot is not ticked Because Stock Android Restores Stock Recovery
When You get "RESET" in odin
Remove the battery from the and boot to recovery directly
And then flash SuperSU

You can use Partition Backup app. Nandroid backup will backup most of the main partition, but i prefer third party app which will show some unseen partition.
As for the memory thing, i believe @Yousef Mohamed have better knowledge, he even made a flashable zip for expanding the internal memory size.

Gonna try it out thanks. I'm going to do what I learned from here to my future devices Yeah, I hope Yousef does reply.
EFS is most important "recoverable" partition
Bootloader partitions are the most important because without them you can't even boot the phone ( you can't boot to download mode , recovery mode or even the OS )
So you can't recover it

Untouched ZF2 Stock LP to Stock MM .184

Hi all, I finally read good news for our MM Stock: it is finally almost bug-free. I read that only the Wi-Fi bug still here, but wait like 10-20 secs of connection doesn't kill me.
So now I am fully ready to update but i don't know anything.
Here is my idea:
1) Do a full erase (Delete every folder/file).
2) Install the full FW of MM .184 downloaded from asus (I don't want a update just a clear install).
Unlucky I read that Asus Flash tool can be a bit crazy with strange errors and maybe can delete important partitions (like unkown imei, lost mac, ect..)
So, can someone please use a bit of his/her time to explain me what can i do? Like a step-to-step guide?
Thanks you very much,
LightDestory.
which firmware number you are currently on?

very first fully unroot your mobile. reboot into recovery and clear factory data and reset. ther clear cache partition. then apply updates from adb then. install 2.20.40.184. asuming you are on soem lp version

My phone is untouched: no root, no bt unlocked and my current version is the latest avaible of LP via OTA (so the .198).
I have only the full FW WW-4.21.40.184.zip. The 2.20.40.184 (there is a mistake because it is 2.20.40.198) is LP... but I want to install MM.
Thansk for the fast reply. But, excuse me... I need more info!
I am a bit confused between flash via zip or a raw firmware... I just need the safer way that can erase all and do a clean install..

Hi, thanks for the reply.
This is the "update LP to MM" way... is there a way to clear everything and install?
After you do it then factory reset it.
Sent from my ASUS_Z00AD using Tapatalk
I also updated from LP .198 to MM .184 because I heard a lot of problems have been resolved and I am very happy to say that I've had no problems whatsoever. The sound and mini freeze in games problem that I had on MM .134 was solved as well. The battery life is also good. The performance is good, phone works like a charm and I didn't even do a factory reset, I only upgraded and that's it! Kudos to Asus for finally fixingthe problems!
you don't need to do anything. just go into recovery. then click factory data and reset. then clear caxhe partition. then apply update from adb. and then install MM version you downloaded from asus via sideload command.

Thanks for all the replies. I need just the last info, help me to understand.
1)Go to Recovery and do a factory reset and wipe cache partition (OK... I know how do that)
2) "Apply Update from adb" what means? Factory reset will make my phone like a older version of LP and I have to flash first the .194? or by clicling on 'apply update from adb' the phone will go in a "download mode" and so go to step 3?
3) Sideload MM (OK... i read on zentalk the sideload command)
EDIT:
I am now with STOCK 6.0.1 MM!
I got 2 bootloops but on the third flash the phone booted! WOW!
Moderator can close this.
Thanks again for the help!

Help needed ! stuck in Bootloop

Hey guys. Today I tried rooting for the first time using this guide
In the third step of the article "3.Flashing TWRP and Rooting via TWRP" I pressed cancel when it asks for an encryption password(I hadn't put one yet). I also flashed the english TWRP( Recovery file) and not the one provided in the article . Now the phone just wont boot. Whenever I try to boot it, it gives me the error message:
"Your device has been unlocked and cannot be trusted.
ID: N/A"
And TWRP comes up everytime .
When i try booting from factory it shows:
"Your device has been unlocked and cannot be trusted.
ID: bad key"
and TWRP comes up.
The phone is still recognized in adb.I still haven't flashed SuperSU if that helps.
Should i Flash stock recovery and try again ?
Please send help, guys.

I have similar problem like yours. The solution to boot your drvice. If your in twrp go to advance - reboot - bootloader. And in bootloader menu click start. And your phone now is booted
This is a alternative solution. But it wont damage your device. Trust me

I don't think I messed with the OS . I just unlocked the bootloader and flashed TWRP without flashing SuperSU.(done it for the first time for my Moto Z play). Used Wipe to clear davlik, cache and that's it.haven't done anything in the recovery since then.
The only thing i remember messing up was to not input the encryption key when it prompt me for it by clicking cancel.
I've read in some forums that it doesn't boot if it doesn't have SuperSU flashed, but I'm not sure if it's safe since i don't exactly know what might or might now permanently brick my phone.
Also some forums had something to do with patching the kernels (don't know if that's what you call it) but i don't know if it's a safe thing to do since it might also permanently brick my phone.
Running Nougat April Security Patch.

You used the Chinese TWRP originally? Now you have alberto97 TWRP? Is this correct?
I would flash a custom ROM, why I'm saying that is it's far safer flashing a zip ROM than trying to flash the stock firmware.
Again I will remind people the flashing bootloaders on moto devices will inevitably cause hard bricks if you downgrade and the accept an ota.
---------- Post added at 06:47 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:39 PM ----------
The only solution and this applies only if you want to remain on the stock ROM.
Download the retail firmware and only manually flash the boot.img, the 10 sparsechunks and the OEM.img.
Do not use rsdlite!!
This should boot your phone.

I would install the aosp ROM as it is bare bones android.
As for bootloaders, when you receive an ota it flashes a new bootloader.
What some folks have done is because they feel like a new ota isn't working to their liking, they have downgraded their firmare, either by flashing the firmware package that can be downloaded. They flash the entire package including bootloader, what this does is set up a perfect hard brick scenerio for moto devices.
They accept an ota or for reasons that are beyond uderstanding, sideload the package and bam as soon as they restart there device it bricks their device due to the mismatched bootloaders.
You are unlocked and the easiest way to prevent hard bricks is to for go flashing firmware.
I'm running validus 7.1.2 on the original bootloader that was installed on MM.

I'm attempting to build a stock flashable TWRP stock 7.1.1 ROM.
You may also flash any flashable TWRP stock 7 rom, either bye me or dedracks

Is it fine if i go ahead with this and see if it works ?
I will try to flash a custom ROM if it doesn't.

That's fine and it's my ROM lol.
You may want to format your data but first try to flash the ROM and see if it boots.
That Chinese TWRP is a nasty thing

How will flashing a new logo help me get out of boot loop ? AFAIK it only replaces the warning.

Bro are you sure you followed my instruction? In twrp menu click on reboot>bootloader
Then it will boot the device in bootloader mode. And in the bootloader menu click on "start" using the power button. Then it will boot your phone. Everytime you reboot your phone do the same step. If you want to get rid of that thing you need to flash official rom via rsd lite

Rsdlite sucks, never flash any firmware with resdlite unless you know which lines need to be removed from the text file that tells rsdlite what to flash.
manually flashing firmware is IMO much safer and all you need to flash is the boot.img all the spareschunks and oem.img

I did what you had asked me to ,unfortunately it doesn't work. I would be happy just being able to boot using the above method.
Thanks for the suggestion tho !

I don't have any idea how to recover my update ota, lenovo is trolling me.
I don't understand what your issue is. But if you missed OTA, is will come again soon.
I think one way to help that is to clear cache of update app. Just google it.
While you are there, once the OTA is downloaded to your phone AND before actually upgrading, it would be good to copy the update file to your PC and share it with others who don't get the OTA.

I found the solution, I'll repost the fastboot link that alexeei provided.
The overall improvements I've been noticing:
Connection problems that sometimes occurred in my region, are no longer giving.
Battery I noticed is lasting about 45 minutes longer.
PT-BR was basically 100% implemented in every layout.
The 4G connection has been improved.
I also believe that they have made some changes in the kernel, because the way the cores are working, is different gives version 284, ie better, I'll find out if in Benchmark improved anything.
And the audio in dolby atmos, I'm feeling that the audio has improved, it's louder and clearer.
camera haven't tested yet
However this is it: D
Here the link
Thanks for @alexeei

In first Thank's a lot for the file !!!!
But after the flash , my phone don't reboot, hopefully reflash Alexeei Twrp solve my problem, evrithing seem ok now.
More info when more tested the rom
@alexeei, the file you shared is full ROW rom?
If so, when flashing with TWRP over an older version of ROW, will it keep data and apps?
Thanks!
I flash over my 284st the alexeei fastboot rom, but with the fastboot .bat.
And i have keep all my app, data and setting.
But the phone don't work in first attempt, must reflash the twrp for fix boot.
Don't know if this problème is only for me or more general.
My config before flash. Rom 11.0.284st + twrp alexeei + magisk 19.3.
Now everything seem ok and perf is good, except aod still dont work.

You only need flash vbmeta with --disable-verity option, i make it default in installer script in future releases.
Ok , thank's for the info !
How can I install this update?
Brillant !
Do you think it can be flashed over CN rom and keep data and apps?
Also, do you know where to find same type of rom file with latest CN rom?
I want to try latest ROW, but I know I will revert back to CN.
