Headphone analog adapter stops working - Moto Z2 Force Questions & Answers

I noticed last night where my USB-c to analog headset adapter that Motorola gave us stopped working. I removed and inserted it several times but the audio kept on playing through the speakers. No matter how many times I tried unplugging/plugging it didn't work. I power cycled and it still didn't work. I have a Power/headset splitter adapter and it also reacted the same way. Today, I tried plugging in the USB-c power cord directly into the slot and removed it. I then placed the the headset adapter back in and it worked again. As a final test, I removed and plugged in the adapter again several times to recreate the issue and it stopped working at about the 8th to 10th try. Again, if I plugged the power cord directly in and then put the adapter in everything worked again.
I'm rooted with Oreo, Magisk, no TWRP installed.
Have any of you noticed this behavior? I don't believe it is the adapter since I'm able to recreate this scenario with either the supplied adapter or my splitter adapter and they both behave the same when I swap them. I wonder if this is a software or hardware issue? With my splitter, I have to plug it in first and then plug the power cable into for the headphone to work.
Thanks!
Update: Researching this issue, I found others have had the same issue over on the Lenovo site.

Micro USB + Charger question

So for a while now i've been using the official S3 wall adapter that came with the device and a third party USB cable (The original broke about a year ago), but now that second cable has also stopped working. I bought a new cable today, again third party but it refuses to work in the official Samsung charger I put it in a Nexus 10 and also a raspberry Pi adaptor and it worked for both of them, but with my Samsung adaptor it refuses to work! It briefly charges the device and then stops completely... odd?
I should also note, when I connect it to the phone/computer it charges and syncs as normal, so it seems to be not playing nice with the official wall charger, is this a common problem?

Swapped USB DAC, doesn't always work now

Hi all, nexus 7 2013 lte and WiFi model, 5.1.1 with timurs Kernal installed in my car.
I've got a board that has a 5v 3a power supply going to a otg y cable. Usb hub plugged into y cable and dac plugged into hub.
I've just swapped from a miniDSP MiniStreamer which is a usb to spdif coaxial sound card. This worked perfectly, I could unplug and replug the otg cable or turn power off whenever I wanted and it would always be recognized and be used by Android through Spotify, power amp etc.
I just changed my processor and it takes an optical spdif input so I changed the MiniStreamer to a hifimediy sabre u2 dac which also does optical spdif out.
I found to get the sabre u2 to work at all, I have to turn the tablet off, connect the dac and power to it, the turn the tablet on. This takes a while to do.
As soon as I either disconnect the otg cable or turn power to the dac off and back on or the tablet goes into its Fi sleep mode (when car is turned off) my tablet no longer uses it for audio but reverts back to tablet speakers.
In the power event manager it still shows the usb hub and the dac as being connected.
Would greatly appreciate any help, as it's my only source for audio in the car.
Apologies if it's in the wrong place, I've not spent much time on this forum so not sure where everything is.
Edit: do you think updating to Android 6.0 would solve this if it's just a finicky usb audio and Android 5 thing?

So I'm not sure why but a program called SoundAbout fixed this. I forced all media audio out to usb host and it seems to have done the trick.
I shouldn't need this since 5.1.1 and timurs Kernal together are supposed to make usb dac's hot pluggable but oh well, it's working now.

Hi Phahel, have you had any issues w/ static over any of your USB dac? I bought a couple of inexpensive units to try and both have static. I still have a bunch of things to try to isolate the issue (use dac on computer, use stock lineage kernel, try on another phone, etc), but I'm curious if there are any common issues that I'm just not aware of. I'm using Lineage 14.1 and ElementalX kernel (which enables OTG w/ charging). Thx!
Make sure you have quality charger and cable and that audio ground loop is not problem in your car (some Prius are known for this).
Also, I'm having problems with newer Android (7) and sound distortion. If you want to, try cm13, or stock Rom running on Android 6.

NO!
The DAC you have almot surely doesn't work with Android 6 and it's mono bug.
I find DACs can be touchy. sometimes mine wouldn't connect and I'd have to unplug, A couple times I had to reboot with the DAC connected. 98% of the time it works perfect.
Check all your wiring as already mentioned as you shouldn't need a software solution. Also check anything else USB you have connected. And when it doesn't work check PEM to see if it's recognized.

[Q] Damaged USB port?

Last week I wanted to plug in my phone into our shop's stereo, using the the official included USB-C to 1/8th headphone adapter. I plug in the phone, fire up my music, but the audio continues out of the phone's speakers.
So I unplug and replug in the adapter, and the aux cable a couple of times with no luck, even restarted the phone to see if that would do it.
At that point I thought that somehow the adapter was damaged, so I ordered a replacement (making sure to get one with a DAC [sidenote: **** any manufacturer that makes you not only have to get an adapter for headphones, but makes you have to get a SPECIAL adapter])
No dice with the new adapter.
I went a couple of days not really worrying about it, the phone charges just fine, like it always has, so I didn't think it was a hardware issue. I thought it was just bad luck with these stupid, terrible, superfluous, awful adapters.
But today I had to pull a file off the phone to my computer, using multiple known good Type-C to USB-A 3.0 cables.
Phone says it's charging, but I didn't get the notification to select USB mode, and USB ADB debugging never showed up.
Windows is constantly making the device connected, disconnected sounds, and device manager is showing me an "Unknown USB Device (Port Reset Failed)"
Is it possible that somehow the data connections on the port on the phone are damaged, without it affecting power delivery? I have no idea how that would work, Like I said, it charges just fine, and all my cables feel pretty secure when plugged in, there's no play or wobble and I don't know what to do to troubleshoot it further.
You can try to clean the port
I have the same issue. Ive requested a replacement aux dongle from Google and still no go. It charges fine, connects to my computer fine adb, data transfer etc all work, only for music it continues to play from the speaker even when connected.
Yes it's possible for the phone to get power but have no data connection it's happend to my Nexus 6p I paid for the insurance so I had to pay the deductible to replace I have had some data issues with the pixel 2 xl but always seems to come back after a few days could just be a dirty connection since I work construction and some times gets very dirty.
But I'd be careful of what cables you buy when they are usb a to c but seem to have no issues with c to c
I have the same problem and are trying to work with Google for a fix. I have tried everything and they are pretty useless. I am now requesting a new device as I'm still under warranty.

Problems with USB-C connector?

I noticed that when I connect the phone via an USB-C cable to my computer or to an USB stick, the connector only works in one direction, like in the old USB-B days. When I rotate the plug it no longer works reliable.
Haven't faced such an issue. You should try another cable and if the issue is persistent, maybe the USB connector itself is having issues and you should reach out to Nokia service.
I tried several cables and eventually got in contact with retailer and received a new device. On the night before the new device arrived, I couldn't really charge the phone. Hopefully this won't happening again.

Won't reboot unless plugged in

Hello everyone.
So I have a few issues which I am guessing are all somewhat related.
TL;DR
1) Android auto stopped working
2) if I reboot. It will just power off and needs to be plugged in to power back on
3) usb c to usb c only works one side not both sides. But usb a to usb c works both directions.
Note: my wife has the same phone and had none of these issues with the same cables and such. So it's not cables issues. We also have the same OS.
The longer detailed version.
First issue. Android auto stopped working. At first it told me that there may be an issue with the cable and that I should get another cable. I tried my wife's pixel 3 xl and it worked fine. So it's not the cable issue. I tried restarting. The phone did not. So I plugged it in and it powered on. Now the phone will only boot if it is plugged in. Plugging the phone into the car usb a to usb c it charges on both side of the cable but there's no longer any warning about the cable for Android auto. Again my wife's phone works with the same setup so it's an issue with my phone. Then when plugging my phone in using the oem cable I noticed it only chargers using one side. The other side fails. Tested my wife's phone and both sides work. I then test my wife's cable and same issue with her cable for my phone.
OS 11 RQ1A.210105.003
I did a factory reset but same issues remain.
I'm open to using a ROM if it will fix the issue.
I saw a few posts on google forums about this issue but not fix/solution so I was kind of wondering if a ROM would possibly fix this issue.
Thanks so much for any help.
Willing to try most items as phone is out of warranty and I really like Android auto and hate not having it.
