app stopped working,- restart - LG G7 ThinQ Questions & Answers

anyone getting that an app stops working and the restart message? Happening on 2-3 apps here, and not on other phones.

Haven't encountered it, I have 110 apps, Nova and a third party theme. All is stable.

If it is a frequent problem try factory reset. If it is only with a specific app maybe the app is bad optimized with our phone.

its just those specific apps, maybe exclude them from battery saver?
I did test factory reset last week and it worked fine.

Phone loses certain settings or apps if the battery dies suddenly

I have searched as much as I can, but can't find any info on this. It has happened on both mine and my wife's M8, but only after updating to Marshmallow. If the phone dies suddenly without being able to shut down fully most of the time it will lose certain settings, like sounds, data and Wi-Fi turned off, saved Wi-Fi networks gone, etc. If it happens while starting up it has lost whole apps, all contacts; mostly acting like a first boot but some installed apps, settings, call history, text messages, etc did remain. Any ideas?

I spend the same, and also turns off me having 20 % battery....google traslate, sorry.
I get the exact same issue, but no idea why it happens :/

It's a glitch with HTC's Marshmallow version. It happens on stock as well as custom ROMs. Nothing to do but wait for an update from them, or always make sure your battery stays charged. It happens to me at 6%
Same Problem but phone dies at 20%-30%

I am having the same problem, heaps of settings change, including default keyboard, messaging app quick settings wifi etc
if my phone was dying at 5%i could deal with it but it is dying anywhere between 20 and 30% and often catches my unawares.
An update to fix this would be great.
Yup, I have the same problem only I don't lose saved wifi networks but I get signed out of every single app. I also get a google play services error which requires me to clear the apps data.
Snap!
I have been having these problems for the past 4 months (running Lollipop)
I thought that the Wifi passwords issue and app logouts was due to low system memory. (battery would die around 15%)
Since doing a factory reset and 2 weekends ago, the battery dies around 25% and I still experience app log outs etc.
My device is close to the 24month warranty limit and I need a fix urgently.
I also have Bluetooth call random clipping happening both on lollipop and Marshmallow.
This is killing me. Any fixes yet?
Lately it's been losing home screen icons and a couple settings even when I manually shut the phone down. Ironically yesterday when it died suddenly some previously missing icons I had yet to restore reappeared.
please!! any Fix ???
Any fix??? My phone does this too, and its becoming more often than a weekly thing now
A few times now manually shutting the phone down before the battery dies has led to all Google related icons (Chrome, YouTube, Play Music, etc.) being removed from my home screens and having to manually re-add them. When the battery dies it's a roll of the dice what, if anything, will be changed/lost.
In addition to almost everything already said RE: most customization is lost, apps and widgets disappear on restart, etc. I've noticed that all of the (mostly AT&T) apps that I disabled are enabled and updated when the phone comes back on! This is so annoying and is my first major problem with this phone! It's taking time to have to redo all my settings each time the phone dies!
Same problem here very annoying especially as I have to phone bank to reset my mobile banking app as it screws the settings in this. #leaveitoncharge
Yesterday mine died at 30%, and upon restarting it went through the "Optimizing Applications 1 of 261" then proceeded to come up with a warning that the phone had an internal error and might be unstable until doing a factory reset. After clearing the warning it was stuck in a "Sense Home has stopped working" loop until I could get into Settings and clear the data for Sense Home. This allowed me to at least make sure things were backed up before doing a factory reset, but more than half of my contacts were missing as well as many text, call history, etc. A similar thing happened with the wife's M8 last week and had to factory reset hers then too.
I had this problem and had my battery and main board replaced in the final month before 24 m warranty ran out.
Do a battery test *#*#3424#*#*
Then hit more, and select battery test.
Battery has to be 100% to complete teat which takes an hour. Do this when you don't need it.
My test would often show 91-94% but I had one that said 71% which I saved a screen shot.
Since the battery and main board replacement it's still my favourite phone.
solve the problem of battery and loss of settings , change the battery of my htc, now everything is fine , 3 days that the battery is discharged properly , I hope this information will help someone.
Not positive I've lost settings, though I'm fairly certain I have. I have lost app permissions many times. And my phone seems to die around 30% and won't let me boot unless I am plugged into charger. I was recently forced into a factory reset due to a message that popped up just like a somebody else a few posts back. This is a recently replaced phone (VZW replaced it as the prior had battery problems). The prior one did not do this. I hope HTC get's their act together and fixes the issue. Highly annoying.
Ive been having this issue since the beginning of the year and now it seems to happen every few days. I pretty much don't have a choice but to buy a new phone at this point, which sucks because I love my m8.
This is exactly the same issue I've been having. I'm at my wits end with having to re-do all of my settings and apps daily, and sometimes (randomly!) it won't hang onto a charge for more than a few hours even if I'm barely using it. I basically have to leave it on a charger all the time to keep it from shutting down and losing all my settings! I used to love my M8, but for the first time ever I'm considering swapping to a Samsung just to get away from these issues. I've had this phone for a little over two years and these problems only just started around March 2016 - but they've been an absolute constant since then, and only getting worse.

One year old HTC One M9 overheating alot

So I got my M9 last year the day it launched and haven't really had any problems up until this year. The battery started draining really fast lasting only a couple hours so I had the battery replaced inside it. The battery life is a little better now but now it's overheating, like getting pretty hot to the touch even with minimal use and especially gets really hot when charging it. This is really worrying me and I was wondering if anyone has had issues similar to this or if anyone has any advice on what I should do to maybe help resolve this issue. Thank you to anyone and everyone for your help.
Anyone?

No haven't done that. I was hoping I wouldn't have to do that because I don't want to lose all my data. I'm not sure how a factory reset would help since this only started after I got a new battery for this phone.
I just started having this problem today. Gets really hot (112 degrees) and the battery is draining super fast. I tried rebooting, but when that didn't work I tried wiping the dalvik cache and cache, but still having the same problem. Did you ever get it figured out?

I am having the same problem on 2 M9s as well for the past few days. One running a custom ROM and 1 running stock ROM. One of the phones has been off the charger for 2 hours. I have just sent 1 text message in the time and the battery has gone from 100 to 52%
I have cleared cache and dalvic but the problem persists. Any recommendations?
This problem just started for me yesterday. I noticed the phone was plugged up at 20% only reached 45% after 3 hours . I ejected my SD card and did a factory reset. I booted back up and started updating my apps. Everything seemed to be fixed until I started installing my missing apps and it started again. From 63% at 1am to dead before 6am with no use at all. I'm going to factory reset again and see where it gets me. If I find a solution, i'll post it. Good luck.
I ended up doing a factory reset and installing Fluent Rom (I was on stock rooted MM). The first time I did it I told it to reinstall my apps and settings during setup, but the problem was still there after I got it set up. So I did the factory reset again and re-flashed the rom, but this time I didn't restore my apps and settings. I just let it go and treated it like it was a brand new phone and everything has been fine for the last couple days. Temp is down to 85-90F on idle and charging (and battery life) are back to normal. Hope that helps.
I am having the exact same issue. It just started two days ago. I had the chance to get a new phone through the Uh Oh program, and the new one is also having the same issue as soon as I updated it to Marshmallow
Update, i'm still having the same problem. I've factory reset from Sense and from Recovery Mode numerous times. I've even wiped my cache a few times. The problem always comes back when I start installing apps. FB, Fenix, IG, Google Keyboard, Soundcloud, MX Player. By the time I get this far, i'm already over heating. I'll reset and leave it stock and see what happens.
Same here used the uh oh program got a new phone s offed and running venom rom and used titanium backup to get rid of alot of apps
It has cooled down for now but ill see

Update with possible Solution
So like I posted earlier, I reset my phone to factory multiple times. After some trial and error, I realized that if my apps remained Stock, the battery was fine. Even If I installed 3rd party stuff like Facebook, Ig and Fenix, the battery was fine. Once I updated all the stock apps to current the battery took a nosedive. So after leaving all the core apps stock, I updated one at a time until the battery took a nose dive. The one App that seemed to cause my battery to take a nose dive was HTC Car. Stock, it was fine. Once I updated it, everything went down hill. Once I uninstalled the updates, everything went back to normal.
So if you've run in the same problem I have, try and uninstall the updates for HTC Car and see if that works. If not, go back to factory and update the stock apps one at a time like I did until one causes the nosedive.

Battery Drain following Oreo Update, even after update to Oxygen OS Open Beta 5

I have a Oneplus 3 and I have been quite happy with it .. up until got notified for an update to Oreo a few daya ago.
Since the update, the battery drain on the phone has been pretty bad and even when I am not using the phone, the battery is draining much faster than it should or was.
Yesterday I tried searching on Oneplus forum to see how to fix it, and saw some post suggesting to update to Open Beta 31. I downloaded the update the manually updated the phone, and the battery drain still seems to be same.
Fyi, my phone is not rooted.
Please see the image below for battery drain graph..
What I can see is that even when the screen is off, and the wifi is inactive .. the phone is still awake and not seemingly going into deep sleep mode..!!
Can anybody please help how to solve this issue?
Thanks
you could try better battery stats although it is a root app to find what is keeping the phone awake, i think you can use adb to grant the permissions for it to work without root or you could factory reset that should sort it out

From the screenshot, I am able to see that you have a very patchy mobile signal which is one of the reasons for the drain .
Well, the signals have been same even before the update. The battery drain was not like this before.
In the last 8 hours, with little use the phone went to about 36%..
Now I can do a factory reset but it's an annoyance because all my data would get lost, or I'll have to backup and restore using some means.

I have noticed that with an incremental update, things get sour on OP3. The best bet without losing data would be to clean flash the full ROM after wiping system, data (excluding internal storage), Dalvik and cache. I am sure your issue would be gone.
I always clean flash and have no such issues.
100% App related. I am getting great battery life on Oreo 5.0.1 by using Greenify. Maybe 3-4% overnight.

Just because it worked before doesnt mean it will work the same after an update. Mainly with this OEM.
Hi,
I've tried clearing the cache and also deleting everything except personal data and reinstalled the update 31 multiple times. Still the same problem.
The battery is draining at about 10% every hour regardless.
Can anyone advise what else can i try?
My only doubt now is if the update 31 file is the right one to install. I'm assuming that because the file is approximately 1.5GB it is a full update rather than a incremental update.
If that's not the case, can anyone tell me which file to install as the full update?
Another problem I have noted since the update is that the Camera does not work. Not sure why though.
If nothing else works, I'd be forced to try and downgrade to android 7 though I'd prefer to have android 8 - if it works and does not drain the battery this much.

You say that you have the OP3 but the heading of this thread refers to Open Beta 5 and then you say that you clean flashed Open Beta 31. Which is correct, OP3 or OP3T, OB5 or OB31? No wonder you are facing issues.
Hi
The phone is Oneplus 3
It prompted for auto update to Oreo, which I did.
Then started battery drain issues.
After reading forums, I updated to Open Beta 31.
The battery drain is still there and I have reinstalled Open Beta 31 couple of times which includes deleting everything from the phone excluding personal data, music etc.
I have cleared cache as well.

I repeat, your mobile signal is one, if not the only, heavy drainer.
Install BBS, grant permissions through adb, run it and take an idle dump (as described in its thread) and attach it in the BBS thread. Someone there will study it and identify the culprit/s.
I've installed Bbs and here's what it shows:
It shows something named video2 is keeping the phone awake most of the time. I also found that the phone cpu is awake most of the time rather than being in deep sleep.
Looking on the internet, I can't find what video2 is!!
Any ideas?
Also just found that the YouTube app is also not working. I google'd and found many people have reported the same problem, and have been suggested to do a factory reset. So I've just done that as well and it has still not helped.
Here's another screenshot of betterbatterystat showing the same issue :
This shows that the phone is not going into deep sleep most of the time, as video2 is keeping it awake. Hence the battery drain.
Any ideas of what I can do to solve this please?

Tried a reboot? Don't use any force dozing apps or block wakelocks.
Yes, rebooted the phone and I am not using any app to restrict wakelocks or force dozing any apps - apart from what's inbuilt in the Oreo os.

It's known that Mobile Data can be a really big drainer. I easily go from 0.6% per hour on WiFi to +2% on mobile data, especially poor signal as you have shown can drain even more. You could try using Greenify with Shallow Hibernation, it doesn't kill apps it only restricts them from doing too much in the background, you could try blocking the wakelock with Bluspark's build in wakelock blocker. But I am highly against blocking things that you don't know (Can cause more wakelocks, random reboots etc).
If Video2 is similar to Video3 is then most likely camera related.
Maybe some app is using your camera and doesn't even let your device sleep. Which could make sense since even being awake all the time 10%/h drain is way to high with the screen off, so probably other hardware is being used.
Check your apps, you might even have malware installed. See what permissions was each app.
I'd recommend to backup your data, do a factory reset or even wipe system partition (although you need TWRP for that
Since you mention that YT is not working another possible option is that is some playback video related.
Same thing, backup and factory reset. Install each app with Playstore and don't restore backups.
Maybe when you backup your data into your PC run some kind of Virus Scan over all the file just to be safe.

WiFi crashes after phone goes to sleep

Hello,
I have recently factory reset my OP3 due to a battery drainage issue. Google play services started using around 30% of my battery and consequently my SOT decreased by a lot.
After the factory reset, I freshly installed of all my old apps, and I downloaded my photos from the Gdrive.
Unfortunately, since then my WiFi is acting strange. Whenever I start the phone, the WiFi is performing normal, but after a while my phone goes into deep sleep and my WiFi disables itself (just like i configuered in settings). However, when I wake my phone, my WiFi won't turn on and when I go to the WiFi settings the phone becomes extremely laggy.
I have already wiped my cache again but I don't know what else to do.
Any help is appreciated!
Kind Regards,
Same strange problem here,I must reboot phone to connect wifi.
I trying with 3 kernel, it's not kernel problem.
It's such a strange problem. I don't understand why this problemwould occur after a complete factory reset...
I had the same issue a few years ago with my HTC One M7.
By the way, my OP3 is completely stock running Android 8.0
Same problem with my 5T on 5.1.1. Weird thing is I haven't made any changes, just updated a few apps but none of them should be causing wifi issues and settings (battery history) to lag after sleep.

I have set wifi to always on and don't have this problem. May be the doze feature is affecting it in your case. Why don't you try the always on setting? For me it doesn't drain the battery also. So no harm in trying it.
And why settings not responding? I must touch home button in order to have working settings again.
I think it's Oxygen Os problem.

The problem does not occur if I set WiFi to always on. However, this uses way more battery in my case.
If i set WiFi to always on my sot decreases from 4-5 hours to 3-4 hours.
EDIT:
I also can't find this issue anywhere else on the internet.

Can't find anything either. You have any of these apps installed? Substratum, Microsoft Remote Desktop, Twitch. Updated these apps two days ago which is when I noticed this problem, haven't change anything else really. Updated router firmware too (Virgin Media).

I can only think of factory resetting again and checking the behaviour of wifi before installing any other apps and downloading photos. Then you will know whether an app or the downloading is the cause and take action accordingly.

No, I haven't installed any of those apps. However, since the factory reset I started using the regular Chrome instead of Chrome Beta.

I think so, yes.
I just disabled all third party apps, and the problem still persists
I have set wifi always on,and flash HolyDragon kernel, problem it's gone.
I don't know if kernel, or settings always on wifi, resolve my wifi connection.
I've been having the same problem too as of yesterday. Did a factory wipe and reinstalled Oxygen 5.0.1 but still having the issue after i reinstalled apps. going to try a factory reset again and not install or update any apps to see if maybe a recent app update is causing this.

IT didn't work for me. Right after flashing the OS back onto the phone and connecting to WiFi, i changed the WiFi setting for "Keep WiFi awake when asleep" to "only when plugged in" and after locking the screen and waking it back up a few minutes later it still wouldn't activate the WiFi; I had to manually go into the WiFi settings and turn WiFi back on.
On the bright side though, I did do some reading on the "Keep WiFi awake when asleep" setting and several sources said to leave it on "Always" since it actually drains more power turning on the WiFi radio when the phone wakes up. I've since changed that setting to Always and over the last two days I've noticed slightly less battery drain!
It happen to me too. Cant turn on wifi after waking up from deepsleep. Must reboot the phone. I had tried to clean everything , data, system, cache, everything and made a clean flash but it still happen ,only for 8.x android. I tried in Nougat and see no such problem. Im using oneplus 5t
Yea, I have same problem staring with oreo update. Can say, that I tried all kernels around, and some of them made wifi connecting faster or even reduced the number of crashes, but not completely. Sadly, I can't stay on those kernels, coz I have another problem, - iv got random reboots with most of them, only stock works... So every solution is inappropriate for me, and I reverted to nougat waiting for Android 8.1
Same problem here. I am on beta 35. Additionally I was on Franco kernel and had random reboots. Kernel back to stock no more reboots but still the wifi issue. I'll test the always on.
Hopefully it gets fixed in the next update. For now, I'm using the ''always on'' WiFi option.
Thank you all for the replies!

Question System UI keep crashing

Everyday at least 1-2 times a day system UI stop working and crashes, any ideas on why, and how to fix?
Check for memory leaks.
Clear system cache.
Probably a 3rd party app causing this... look for high memory or battery usage.
Any changes made before this started?
Try uninstalling updated system apps to factory load.
Try safe mode until it crashes or doesn't.
If it doesn't crash it's a 3rd party app.
Malware is another possibility.
Try a factory reset, the see if crashes on base load, if not then be careful what you install.
If new and doing it since bought consider returning it, not normal operation ie unstable.
