Why? It's just September security patch. US998 will get same update soon. Or even October security update.
I don't understand the impatience for a security patch. You're going to get them every couple of months for three years.
I guess I'm used to getting them monthly for my v20 using lineage. And I've been under the impression that the US998 (and if similar to the US996) isn't kept up to date regularly.
I guess i distinguish between vulnerabilities that help me unlock my bootloader and root my phone with someone doing a remote code execution by sending me an sms or something

All the v30 are kept up to date about the same. Your impression is wrong. On Oreo LG has to push out regular security updates for all the v30 due to an agreement with Google to be on the Enterprise Recommended list.
It's not going to be every month, but it's going to be every two or three months, for three years. Plus, they have to upgrade us to another Android letter, in this case Pie.

Here's the last three US998 full image KDZ, which is usually released a few days after partial image OTA.
July 26 (July 2018 security update) (20d)
July ? (June 2018 security update) (20c)
June 28 (May 2018 security update) (20b)
May 5th (March 2018 security update) (20a) (FULL LG OREO with THINQ)
Here's the last few VS996 full image KDZ full image KDZ, which is usually released a few days after partial image OTA.
July ? (July 2018 security update) (20e)
July 26 (June 2018 security update) (20d)
May ? (May 2018 security update) (20c)
April 27 (March 2018 security update) (20b) THINQ FEATURES FINALLY ADDED
March 14 (February 2018 security update) (20a) FIRST "OREO" BUT NO THINQ FEATURES
Pros and cons. See how the July 26 update for US998 had July 2018 security patch but the July 26 VS996 update had JUNE security patch? Then, apparently another one in July? Strange.
Also, yes VS996 got Oreo first but that's because US998 has to work on all carriers, not just one. HOWEVER, Verizon's first Oreo didn't even have full LG Oreo features, like AI cam. That came with VS996 20B, whereas ALL other LG V30 got the ThinQ features with initial release of Oreo. So, REALLY the V30 Oreo (with all the LG features) didn't come until end of April for the VS996.
Other than that, they're pretty equal. So, if VS996 is now getting an update, US998 can't be far behind. For a couple I couldn't find the exact KDZ release date, but you get the drift.

I just came over form the v20 and the h918 and us996 are still waiting for oreo. I'm tired of hoping for updates. I would have gone with pixel if they had sd card slots. Right now this appears to be the best phone with sdcard and unlocked bootloader. I think the one plus 6 is the only real option for snapdragon 845 with unlocked bootloader, but once again no sd card.
Thanks for the info, i did not know about the google requirement for oreo patches. So far the v30 had been pretty impressive. I think i saw that the us cellular us998 has gotten a new version on 9/18. Is there some way to download the kdz files for it? I couldn't find one.

If U.S. Cellular got OTA three days ago, then the US998 full KDZ should show up soon. It would be 20e. When it shows up, I'll post it in this forum.
Verizon is only "20f" because they didn't give their users full LG ThinQ Oreo update with VS996 "20a". Verizon then gave their users LG Oreo "part II" in 20b (all the ThinQ features). So, they falsely seem one update ahead but they are not.

1) 2017 Pixel also doesn't have Qi wireless charging nor headset jack. Yes, 2018 Pxiel will have Qi wireless charging as Google corrects the HUGE MISTAKE they made in dropping it in 2015. I bought Nexus with Qi wireless charging. I stopped buying Google when they dropped it. That was the line in the sand for me. Now that Apple FINALLY added to iPhone in 2017 (after YEARS of Android having it starting in 2012 with Nexus 4), oh now Google is adding back something they should never have dropped.
2) OnePlus also doesn't have Qi wireless charging, QHD 1440P OLED, nor an IP rating of any sort.
* All top tier Androids since late 2014 have at least 1440p. OnePlus only has 1080p. I've had 1440p since 2014 and I'm not downgrading.
* All top tier Androids since 2016 have not only IP ratings -- but HIGH IP ratings like IP67, IP68.
LG and Samsung have IP68 AND headset jack -- so Apple's lie about having to ditch the headset jack to get an IP67 rating is so obvious.
* Even Apple has Qi wireless charging now (they were the tech laggards), who OnePlus tries to copy -- but OnePlus still does not.
Call me when OnePlus decides to ever release a real premium phone, instead of a pretender. The problem is Oppo their owner/parent company won't allow OnePlus to put all those features into a phone until an Oppo phone has those features.
LG V30 was BEST PHONE OF 2017. The only REAL competitor for the LG V30 in 2017 was the Sansung Galaxy Note 8, and it was too large for my taste. Also it didn't have quad DAC. However, otherwise it was those two smartphones can against everyone else. None of the others, including Pixel and especially OnePlus has the premium features/specs.
Plus all the V30 can now be rooted.

I guess I don't understand. If you're not rooted, if your bootloader is not unlocked, if there a reason you don't want the update?
But the answer is no, I don't know to delete it. Maybe someone else does... But you can always use dev patched LGUP to revert to earlier firmware if it installs.

No.
But just curious why you don't want the update -- if you don't have TWRP, and don't care about bootloader unlock? Those are reasons most people don't or can't take OTA update.

I'm over the whole wireless charging. It sounds good, but in practice it is impractical/slow and takes too long. Good Camera, SD Card, and bootloader unlock are my deal breakers....and i'm not ready to go back to Samsung international variant just for that.

It sounds good because it is good. I won't buy a phone without it.
Qi wireless charging is a convenience. It's a premium feature I had used every day since 2014, as does my wife. Set the phone on the charger, walk away. Ready to go somewhere, pick up the phone, walk out the door. Have them in the living room area (two of them( as well as bedside tables (two of them). Also have them at my parents' house to use.
I plug/unplug cords when I have to, but otherwise use the tilted Qi wireless charging pads. I can see notifications easy while my phone is charging.
________
QHD 1440p is another premium feature as is high IP rating. Sure, good camera, microSD card, root (especially!), and 3.5mm headset jack are also my list. In early 2017, I started a thread in the Moto Quark forum (best phone of 2014) , looking for replacement phone by end of 2017. I didn't want to lose any features I already had (1440p OLED, Qi wireless, headset jack, at least 64GB internal storage) while wanting the "newer features" like high IP rating and fingerprint sensor that have come along since 2014...
The LG V30 wasn't even on my list when I started, I was looking at the LG G6 (BUST!), Pixels, Essential, the rumored ZTE Axon 8 (later the 9) a couple of Motorola phones (hoping they would come to their senses and drop the stupid mods), even the "new" Nokia Android flagship phone. But to my surprise, the LG V30 was the BEST PHONE OF THE YEAR and checked off everything on my list.

Awesome! You were't kidding.
So, what is the charge rate on your QI charger? The last time i played around with it, i wasn't able to get the charge rate over 600 or 700ma, no where near close to 2.4 to 3 amp for quick charge. Went through half a dozen chargers and combinations before i gave up. In comparison, the fast chargers give me 70% within 20 minutes or so.
I love the idea, but haven't found the right combination to make it work right.

Only a couple chargers out there claiming to have 12V-1.5A (~15W) output
for whatever reason no one has confirmed the Powerwave 7.5 pad yet. Would think it's the same tho
When Powerwave 15 is released it should work well v(1.2.4. Qi) or obviously anything else certified for 1.2.4

■ Managing director of LG Electronics Korea Mobile Sangyu Gyeonggi," We do not miss each customer's opinion and enjoy the best performance We will continue to provide services to help you "
LG Electronics' new operating system (OS) to be applied to LG V30, a strategic smartphone for strategic use, will also be heard from customers. We plan to continue to enjoy the best performance and convenience after the new OS upgrade.
On February 2, LG Electronics will launch the LG OS Preview program, which allows users of LG V30 users to preview the operating system of Android 8.0 ('Oreo'). If you are a LG V30 user, you can join anyone regardless of carrier.
How to apply is simple. Users can run 'Quick Help' app on LG V30 and click 'LG OS Preview' banner. If you receive a "Software Update" notification message that is sent out during this month and execute it, the wireless OS upgrade will proceed.
Users can exchange information by posting various opinions in 'Forum', a free forum in the 'Quick Help' app. If you leave the need to improve using the Oreo, LG Electronics plans to reflect it in the official OS upgrade starting in December.
Google 's latest OS' Oreo 'speed, battery and basic performance, as well as enhance the screen configuration, graphics and a variety of convenience features will be added. Optimize the software to drive and boot faster, and when not using the app, minimize power consumption and battery consumption. It also includes convenience features such as allowing users to watch videos and continue viewing images on a small screen even when running other apps, or to support a wider variety of sound devices such as high-quality wireless headsets.
Lee Sang-gyu, managing director of Korea Mobile Group at LG Electronics, said, "We will continue to provide services that allow us to fully enjoy the best performance without failing to reflect on customer feedback."
Just saw this on Droid Life. Apparently it's only for Korea users but hopefully they open it up to more countries soon. I want in.

That wasn't an "update". V20 launched with Nougat last year. Which is why everyone was disappointed the V30 didn't launch with Oreo.
Because with the V10 (which was still the flagship V phone when Google released Nougat in August 2016), it took 11 months for the official carrier unlocked version to get 2016 Nougat. July 2017. (Yes the same Nougat the V20 had installed at launch!) V20 was launched in 4th quarter 2016 and had Nougat already installed. Bootloader unlocked V10 then got it July 2017[/].
And it took until April 2016 for the V10 to get the 2015 Marshmallow. It launched with Lollipop in 4th quarter 2015.
Let's hope the V30 Oreo update is faster?
is there anway to side load it or do we just have to wait for it to launch in US
Hope someone gets screenshots soon enough, waiting for some revamped UI hopefully..

Did anyone mention this about "how" to register ?
From XDA newz yesterday : https://www.xda-developers.com/lg-v30-android-oreo-preview-south-korea/
From today, LG V30 owners in South Korea will be able to get a hold of the upcoming Android Oreo update by registering via the Quick Help application. LG is launching a preview program for the V30’s Oreo update, which is essentially a public beta ahead of the official upgrade which is slated for next month.

V20 was the first to launch with 7.0. Google launched the Pixel line with 7.1 around the same time.
I'm glad that we got a very stable 7.1.2 build on the V30. The V20 was so damn glitchy and so many things just didn't work smoothly.

Received the 10d update this morning on my V30+. 153mb states it's a security update to make phone safer, only thing noticed so far is on January security patch.

updated this morning thru LG Bridge
I got the January Security update through LG bridge also

Got mine this morning via OTA. Just the January patch as far as I know
No one seems excited about this. That means the LG V30 (T-Mobile) is on the newest Security patch version of any non-Google phone at the time this was released.
LG might only do every 2-3 security patches, but when they do, they update to the newest. I'd say LG and T-Mobile are doing pretty good with updates for the V30. A good sign for future updates of this phone!
Also when the October security patch applied it seemed to decrease my battery a little bit. Hopefully this brings it back.
Has antirollback been updated/changed in this update?

TMobile has always pushed security updates for LG devices every 2-4 months.
Was like that on G4, seems more frequent for G6, etc...
LG makes the initial firmware. TMO Devs are actually responsible for pushing security patches. At least thats what LG says.

Pathetic actually.
There is really no excuse for any carrier to interfere with google security updates. Google provides them for free, and to stand back for 4 months [ in the case of the lgv30] while threats gain traction with hackers.
Google needs to demand that the carriers stop interfering with users getting these updates.

You're half right.
Google gives them for free to source code. The OEM needs to push to the carriers & carriers have to push them to individual devices.
If the carriers didn't, "interfere," as you say, there wouldn't be updates at all.
Google can only push updates directly to devices that they control (ie: nexus, pixel, & Android One, or devices that support project treble.)
Besides that, skinned OEM versions of Android aren't the same as AOSP devices.
There's so much code that needs to be patched and Google doesn't control OEM code, only base Android source code.
And until OEMs fully adopt/support project treble, that's just the way it is..
Also, as far as the V30. It's been updated as much as the rest from T-Mobile. Besides LG is actively working to push Oreo out. Once they do that things will get better. After the V30S is released we should get Oreo and more frequent updates. Nougat isn't going to stay much longer.
Honestly I'm more worried about how they won't let us use fastboot or root.

I don't see anyone complaining about TMobile Samsung devices only getting updates every 4 months as they always have. People are just on this low knowledge band wagon warpath against LG based on a few articles online and complete lack of understanding.

I'm currently using the LG G7+ Thinq in Indian variant. The update centre shows no new updates available and i was surprised to see no 4k 60fps option on my device. Mine is currently on v10f. But i couldn't find that option. Do i need to tweak anything or is the indian variant purposely given the limitation.
Flash latest Hongkong fimware then you will get 60fps but lose volte/vowifi. Mine is 10g indonesia firmware with july security patch but still hasn't gotten 60fps.
Hopefully they will soon rollout the update to fix this along with the security update in India.. as other firmwares in other regions have already received this update. But dont expect anything to happen soon... cos its LG..

Nobody still recieved. dualsim 710EAW for HK on V10D with July patches
It feel quite disappointed to talk about lack of timely security updates and bug fixes for a flagship device like G7. Even my old honor 8 had security update patch of August 2018(albeit it's on Android N)... Here we are stuck with June 2018 patch in Sept 2018.
This actually proves their claim of setting up a new update centre for faster software updates was a just a hoax ...to mislead the potential customers...
Lg needs to learn
this is possibly my last LG phone ever, no updates, no 4k, I don't even have volte option in Indian one.
This is my first and last LG phone, software support if disappointing. Good that I bought buyback from Flipkart. Will replace this phone within 8 months. This kind of behavior is not accepted in 2018 where even Chinese phones give updates quickly. Will tell anyone who's buying LG not to buy.
if it's any help, just last week IDN region receive the v10i update that brings september security patch and the 60 fps in 4k.
unfortunately it's the way it is with LG; if haste updates are your focus, you might need to look elsewhere

I got my LG G7 today, it had June's security update as you guys already mentioned, I checked updates from Update center; alas there were no updates there.
So I downloaded LG Bridge app on my Mac, connected G7 using USB and checked for update and voila there was an update with October security patch and camera improvements. Overall process took less than an hour, I would like to point out that the update from Bridge app would be a complete OS update (i.e. no patches), in my case it was 2.1 GB, so yeah keep that in mind before updating your phone.

Is there any improvement in picture quality? Details and colour improvement???? Because these two things in picture quality are third class as this phone price

We're supposed to get Pie in Q1 of 2019 according to LG.
But I wouldn't hold your breath. They certainly won't release it before that time.

Where does LG say that? They never give a timeline or date prediction that I've seen. Don't trust various sites stating when they predict LG will give Pie.
Also, first ones to get PIE we'll be Korean carrier variants -- yeah, possibly Q1 2019... But everyone else will be months after that. Will be at least Q2 for rest of us, just like Oreo earlier this year.

The tech support usually, even if they would have the information (which by far isnt always the case, who would give some confidential information to basically the lowest people in the hirachy?), not allowed to tell that anyone.
Thats the sad thing about that :/

Just like I said -- by end of 2nd quarter for V30. I KNEW that was the plan! See here:
https://www.androidpolice.com/2019/...dule-for-south-korea-v35-and-v40-are-up-next/
Android 9 Pie started rolling out to the Korean G7 today, but other models will have to wait longer. LG's schedule says the V35 will also get Pie in Q1 2019 (which ends March 31), but the V40, V30, and V30S will have to wait until Q2 2019 (ends on June 30). The G6, V20, and Q8 are expected to receive Pie in Q3, and the Q9 and X5 will get it by the end of the year.

G7, V35 and V40 are soooooo similiar, hardware wise, software probably isnt that different either...
You can use the V40 vendor partition on a G7... (just camera and so will have problems)
How do they manage to get there such delays... I surely wonder what they "engineers" there are doing all day long...

Marketing? Why rush to update the "old" models when you are struggling to sell the new ones.
Or was that a rhetorical question?

It's about time LG should realise that just stamping out new phones with 10 different variants isn't gonna do anything for them. With the G8 coming out soon I doubt the V30 will even be getting any security updates after the pie rollout. No cutting edge hardware is any good if it's running 2 year old software. It's one thing to treat mid tier or budget devices this way but even to your flagships, that's like axing your own foot. With the 90day security update criteria to be in the so called 'android enterprise recommended' program, LG is just doing the bare minimum so that they don't lose a marketing opportunity.

But there is a specific time period (duration) they have to give those updates. "Knowledge workers" classification is 3 years. "Rugged workers" (construction use, etc) is 5 years. V30 is 3 years for updates.

Yeah but V30 was launched in sept'17 and completes it's 3 years sept'20. Since LG takes about an year to rollout the updates(pie released aug'18 and it'll positively be Q3'19 before all V30 variants receive the update) even if the next android version releases in Q3 this year I highly doubt we'll get another software upgrade release within that 3 year time frame.

Yes, Pie will be the last letter upgrade and will start arriving Q2 2019 and continue into Q3 2019. Security updates will continue for at least a full year after that.

Security updates will continue to Q3 2020 and possibly Q2 2021 -- depending on definition of the starting line. Oreo was needed to even be in the Enterprise Recommended program, and we didn't get Oreo and the 90-day updates until Q2 2018.

Crap, Some forum say that the update was supposed to happen by the end of april.
We will see but I hope so.
Do you know some bugless and good pie rom for the LG G7 ?
Some of the branded models in eu got a update with April patch only. So likely no pie on his way. I try to hold out this year and I go back to sony or oneplus. I wanted to last for sure 2 years with this phone but not on this way. Some thing still not even fixed. Now even other flag ship support wide angle camera it's easy to leave lg.

They even move the production to Vietnam to reduce cost. That's how bad lg do. The g8 got tripple camera in Korea and dual in europe. Can't name any other brand who works like lg. Who ever upgrade is not aware of the money you trow away because if you want to get rid of it its lower than half price worth. Good device but what a shame

Official response from LG Spain. They say that the update for the LG G710EM will come in June but they are not 100% because it depends on the software update center in Korea. So the real problem is the LG center update in Korea.
Well at least lg is the second last behind htc to update 9.0 after any other company updated there flagships. What I read about other phones that have software issues like oneplus 7 pro I must say I don't even want to trade this phone because the G7 still great for what it is and reliable to me. LG could be the best in the market if they put some effort in it.
