Hi there I bought a Sony MEX-BT2800 radio this weekend and it has a built-in Bluetooth receiver for phone and music. My EVO pairs fine with the radio but the sound quality is really poor I have background static and a hissing noise whenever the bluetooth is being used. I thought perhaps it was the radio so I tried my phone on there floor model and I had the same noise problems. It could very well be the radio but some reviews I've read online from other buyers say there Bluetooth audio is crystal clear using there Iphones. I had my old HTC Excalibur lying around so I threw some mp3's on it and tried that phone on my radio and the static was still there but much quieter and the hissing noise was gone. So now I'm thinking it could be the phones Bluetooth radio that's causing the excessive static.
So I guess my main question is. Is there anyway to possibly adjust the bluetooth driver or audio stack to work better with my radio. I remember back in my G1 days Cyanogen would release new roms with bluetooth stack fixes.
This might be self-explanatory, but double check that the volume on your phone is all the way up when streaming. I get some hissy noise when the media volume is low, but I know that the sound quality of the bluetooth on the EVO is very good when paired with my car audio (at top volume), might be that you have a defective device.
Yeah I tried some different volume settings. Tried low med and high volumes on the phone didn't really matter what volume was on the phone. It must be the built in bluetooth module in this radio. I'm assuming your setup uses an external bluetooth module?
I have a Dual brand deck installed and I also bought a separate bluetooth adapter (with a mic and a 'call' button) that attaches to the rear of the deck via a cable, made by the same company. Maybe see if you can try connecting your EVO to a different type of audio device, if the problem persists your phone is likely at fault.

I've noticed a lag while using Plantronics Discovery headset. The headset was working fine previously with an HTC Fuze. So, I was under the impression that this was probably due to a faulty blue tooth stack on the device. Has anyone else had similar experience with Plantronics or other blue tooth headsets?

I have been looking into some different Bluetooth purchases. One being a pair of Bluetooth headphones I would like to use them on my EVO my question is how bad does the audio sound using the sense Bluetooth programing I have seen some rumors of it being horrendous. also would like to use the Belkin Bluetooth audio line in adapter in my car have a good car stereo I don't want to change it to something different (avic900bt). I just don't want to get all set up and hate the quality. I would like to stick with a sense rom. right now I am using warm 2.2rls 5

It's horrible. I don't understand how anyone can say otherwise. My Voyager 855 certainly isn't audiophile quality even with a good source, but when I tried out CM, it was noticeably better. With the Sense BT stack, cymbals sound like someone pissing on tin foil.
The Bluetooth stack in virtually all Sense ROMs is absolute crap. CyanogenMod fixed it a long time ago (and actually uses a proper stack that's fully FOSS). Plus CM has a DSP equalizer built in that you can use.
The quality certainly doesn't match that of wired headphones (and probably never will), but for bluetooth, it's fairly good. Noticeably better than the same pair of headphones connected to a dongle on a Windows 7 computer.
grab a voyager pro plus headset; the sound will amaze you for a bt headset..

The purpose of this post is to share with you guys my recent purchase The HTC Bluettoh 3.0 Stereo Headphones. These are the official ones from HTC made for our phones. Those with Sense 4.0 and above and phones with Bluetooth 3.0 and above. What makes these different from other bluetooth heaphones is the fact that they use Bluetooth 3.0 which is a huge advancement meant from Bluetooth v2.1 Enhanced Data Rate. This newer version allows more data to be transferred at a time (wider bandwidth) and HTC has taken advantage of this by providing uncompressed audio with these bluetooth heaphones. The sound quality is so much better. v3.0 is more battery efficient as well than the previous generation. The bluetooth headphone clip allows you to use your own headphones as well!

actually, it's not uncompressed audio. It uses Apt-x codec from CSR which is a cd-quality audio compression technology. There aren't many phones that actually have that codec. HTC One series and galaxy s3 are the ones that pops into my mind. Others (the ones that don't have apt-x) will sound like Bluetooth 2.1 edr no mather which version of Bluetooth they use.

Are you suggesting that these sound crisp and clean? I only ask because I stream music via bluetooth quite a bit whether it be to my Yamaha receiver or my head unit in my truck and because of the low bitpool setting in Sense I get a lot of crackling on the high end. AOSP this is not an issue. Only in Sense.
So my question is...How if HTC hasn't fixed the bluetooth bitpool issue in the software can any bluetooth device stream the high quality?

Thanks you very much news, I think his headphones low dive deep, clean and full, flexible and intensity, slow feeling. Good high frequency extension, delicate and supple and housing design is also very good

You can actually use any headsets for jogging and especially walking. Just depends how much wire and bulk you are willing to put up with. Personally, I have the LG Tone+ headset. They sound great and dont make you feel like you are tied to something. They are actually a very practical setup. Any way. Those are my thoughts.

The mic is not built in onto the bluetooth device, your earphones will have to have a mic

it's uncompressed but who cares? it seems those use apt-x lossless codec.

I picked up one of these on the back of this review, and I have to say, I'm really impressed. I got i it mainly for running with, but I've found myself just using it for everything. In the car, at work, - the battery life is really good, and the drain on the phone really in negligible.
My one complaint... I nearly lost my phone in the gym, cause I left it at the rower I was using, but the range is so good ( around 20m without any loss of audio ) I ended up having to backtrack my whole circuit to find it
I cannot believe they did not include a mic in the clip. It really limits your use of alternative headphones/earphones.

It does have a mic in the clip, can't post a link so check the HTC website for details.
I have this as well. I have to say that for a BT tranceiver, it impresses me so much. My only complain is that I can't really monitor the battery capacity in this thing. But at least it will notify me with that robotic female voice that my "battery is low". However, battery life is good.
I use it when I'm travelling because I don't really like brandishing my One in public transport (it's very unsafe to show off your phone here in Indonesia) as it allows me to control my music wirelessly.
I pair this to some other devices as well, like my laptop so that I can use my hifi system to amplify my laptop using aux cable. I don't use the aux cable directly because it's too far to where I usually sit and enjoy my movies.
All in all, I am satisfied with this product.

Because of that sentence, I have bought this device. But NO, it doesn't have the mic in the clip.
Now I am sad and angry I didn't go for a Sony or Samsung.
I have a MW600 at home, which worked perfectly, but last month the clip lost the suspension thingy so I cannot clip it to my shirt anymore... And that's why I decided to buy this one.
But bummer, you cannot use any headphones. You must pick the ones that have the microphone on. And hence, the device is not useful for other stuff, like in-car use and such...
Otherwise, sound is good, can connect to my mac and phone at the same time and can charge it while using it. Really a shame HTC did not put a mic on the clip...
I had these other bluetooth headphones in mind:
1) Sony SBH20
2) Samsung HS3000
and of course
3) Sony MW600

Can you post if any other aftermarket headphones with mics and preferably ear clips or dome speakers that are compatible with this bluetooth device? Maybe if you have others from friends try them and let us know. For now will be considering the other devices you listed for my HTC One.
I am pretty sure any headphone with a built in mike will work.

I have waterproof earphones by Monster designed for iOS and they work perfectly with the bluetooth clip. Any Headphones/ earphones will work with this as long as they have a 3.5mm jack. Of those headphones have a play pause button on the centre it will work as well. The other buttons may not
I've had these things since February(a nice gift from HTC) and I love it. I don't use it as headphones though when I'm home. I have an aux cable going into my surround sound and I have hooked the Bluetooth dongle onto that Aux cable. Streaming the music crisply, clearly, and perfectly through my system.

Let's try to keep it short.
I have a bluetooth speaker Rapoo A500 and the audio is just fine.
I also use on of those fm transmitter things on my car to which I connect my Galaxy Nexus to via bluetooth and it retransmits to the car stereo via FM. Whenever I use the fm transmitter, if I set the volume on my phone to something above like 3/4 of max volume, the sound quality becomes poor (I believe it's due to clipping). The solution is to lower to volume on the phone and raise it, a lot, on the car stereo. However the static from the fm becomes noticeable and so the overall quality drops as well.
So my question is, how come the bluetooth audio is fine on one device and not on the other. Could it be related to the bluetooth versions these devices support? The rapoo A500 is quite recent and supports bluetooth 4, whereas the transmitter probably does not.
Also, do you guys have any suggestions on how to improve the sound quality when using the transmitter? I've tried messing around with various equalizers such as DSP manager, Viper4Android, noozoxide and nexus louder (or whatever it's called), but never got any results...

Any time you use FM transmitters, sound quality is going to suffer. You'd be better off getting an adapter for aux input on your head unit or a new head unit in your car

I used to have an FM transmitter which played music from a usb drive and the quality wasn't all that bad.
Also, "get a new car radio" doesn't answer the question, "how come the bluetooth audio is fine on one device and not on the other."...
I understand, just wanted to point out that if you're looking for sound quality, an FM transmitter isn't the best method.
But, the reason the Bluetooth speaker has better quality is that it doesn't have to convert the signal to a lower quality signal (FM). I can use my phone on Bluetooth mode with my family's Ford Sync head unit, and then use an FM transmitter. The FM transmitter will have worse signal quality.

That's not it. If I connect the phone to the FM transmitter via cable, there is no distortion of the sound. The reason I don't use the cable is because I loose the functionality of the call/end and prev/play/pause/next buttons that are built in to the transmitter.
What I did notice is that the max volume with the cable seems to be as loud as I can go with bluetooth without distortion.
Just bought a jaybird x3 from Amazon I would say it cannot match the b&o play headphone comes with the phone with quad DAC enabled, anyone has better suggestion is that even Bose sport wireless will be about the same? Welcome any suggestion or I should stick with wired one just Bluetooth is so much more convenient, love to hear anyone with BeatX or similar ones
Replaced the standard ear tip with the foam type comes with jaybird x3 sounds significantly better
You need to use wired headphones to take advantage of the dac
I use the Creative Sound Blaster E3 combined with b&o play headphone that came with the phone and to me it sounds just as good or may be better than the phone with wired headphones. If the sound of the E3 is not up to par you can always substitute any 3.5mm headphone out for the B&O.
The Quad DAC will only activate with an audio cable plugged in. So unfortunately Bluetooth will not be able to take advantage of it.
However, the V20 does support AptX, which essentially allows for high quality audio through a BT headset, headphones, speakers, etc. Though I am far from an audiophile, I honestly do hear a definitive difference between an AptX supported headset vs a non AptX set.
Amazon has an extremely large selection of BT 4.1 (which features the ability to display the battery % of your headset on your phone), waterproof, AptX supported headphones. You just have to find the ones that fit your needs.

I use Samsung Gear IconX (truly wireless ones) with V20, very decent sound not much worse than included B&O H3! There's a bunch of them brand new unpacked on Ebay starting from like 80$ or so! Most folks change eartips on IconXs, the large ones from milliion year old Apple In-Ear Headphones with Remote and Mic worked for me famously, balanced sound and punchy bass, perfect for workouts. One very neat feature of IconXs that you can store 4gigs of songs and use as a standalone mp3 player and I personally think SQ is even better than paired with V20! Lastly, you can track steps and heart-rate but that's something I don't use...
I use the Apple AirPods when I need the convenience of Bluetooth. For wireless ear buds they sound really good when you pair them with Apple Music. I don't like the sound with Tidal tho.

Oh I don't really know creative still makes things like this sounds interesting and it is about the same price as my jaybird x3, thanks for the suggestion

Yes v20 actually does support aptx HD but not easy to find a headphone that supports that except from LG and from the reviews it seems doesn't matter so much

I don't have high standards by any means, but these headphones are perfect for me. Great sound, durable, sweat resistant, long battery life, etc.
Jaybird is at the top when it comes to bluetooth, and you won't find any bluetooth earbuds that sound better than the X3.

My brother has been through quite a few different ones including the Jaybirds and the best earbud pair imo was Monsters sport ones (ill have to get the model number for ya later as I dont recall). To be honest I thought my $30 Taotronic sport ones I got off Amazon sounded just as good as the Jaybirds did.
I've seen Bose has a new wireless in ear buds with active noise cancelling so those might sound pretty good. Haven't read anything about them yet though

In my opinion the absolute best sounding bluetooth headset on the market right now is the Definitive Symphony 1, these things sound awesome for BT, even the bose BT headsets don't compare imo.

I have the Vmoda Crossfade Wireless 2 and they sound awesome with the phone. My Bludio UFO I just got today I think sound better at a much lower cost. Either way, the Bluetooth sounds great and the option to plug in for even better sound is there.
Don't mean to rain on the earbud parade but to get the best sound you need something with bigger drivers. I recently bought the Sharkk Claro from Amazon for $44.99 and it has ANC and Apt-X and it sounds pretty good.
I've been really happy with Mixcder over the ear headphones. I have a pair of the MS301 and my wife has the HD601. Both use Apt-x low latency, which seems to really help the audio quality.
