Ghost pressing of back button - Xiaomi Mi 6 Questions & Answers

Have a problem with my MI6.
Sometimes the back button will self press. Doesn't seem to go away with changing the phone cover. Does anyone know a fix for this?
Thanks
Kiwi

Mine used to do it, but my retailer didn't want to do the warranty repair even if it happend after 2 weeks but since then I never had such a problem with it, it's like it fixed itself but not really if you know what I mean.

need help - touchscreen fix

noticed that my touchscreen is becoming unresponsive lately so i thought that changing the multitouch might solve it. the thing is, after selecting 4 touch, touchscreen becomes totally unresponsive. i tried wipe and even flashing stock os but touchscreen is still the same.
did i screw up my touch screen? how will i know? any known repairs or fix.
thanks
Sounds like your digitalizer (the glass above the screen) is busted and needs replacement. If your phone is under warranty, claim it, if not - get a new digitalizer and if you can't change it yourself, take it to a repair shop.
Changed the digitizer but still no response

switch ROM
You said that you flashed back to stock, but how about flashing to another ROM, I mean one that has a completly diferent multitouch enabler... that might work.

i was able to flash stock and it means i have no root nor recovery. and adb debugging is not enabled. i am out of ideas how i will be able to solve this.
After flashing stock ROM do you face the same issue with a new Digitizer?
yes. doesnt respond to anything except volume and power. even the 4 touch buttons doesn't work. i was thinking that i have received a bad digitizer or it is a motherboard issue. with the latter i have no idea how to check

I had recently taken my Defy to a service center. I just wanted to change the earpiece and the side casing. While replacing the side casing (while removing the Digitizer) they damaged the digitizer. The main touch portion was working but the 4 soft keys were not. They replaced the digitizer and everything was fine again (had to pay for it )
If you can carefully handle the phone, you can open up the casing and try reconnecting the digitizer to the board. (Do not remove the digitizer from the casing only reconnect the cable).
Replacement is better done by a service center as it requires careful handing.
I did open the phone, removed and reconnected the cable, still the same. also tried 2 new digitizer still the same result. I guess it us the mother board . Any ideas where to get replacement board ?
Thanks

i have got the same problem like you and i have solved it.
Do compass calibration like spin the phone 3 times in flat condition (laying down face up), then have the phone standing up and rotate 3 times, then on one side, rotate 3 times and then move your defy in the shape of number "8" in the air. Re-open the screen. it is suppose to bring back your screen work like it was nothing happened.
only for my defy i've tried never did this for another but from what i see you have nothing to lose here
Tried the calibrating thing and also a new digitizer. doesn't work. So it is the motherboard.
Anyone knows where to get mother board
Got a headache? It's all in your head!!!
Getting a new board is like getting a new phone - new IMEI, price for the board should be very similar to the pricw for a new phone too. If you think about it, it IS the phone. What's there in the phone other than the board a screen and a digitizer...
Guess you're right.

[Q] Capacitive buttons stopped functioning

Guys please help. My HOX soft buttons suddenly stopped responding for no reason. Im running ARHD 16 and it's all good until this morning. Last night I watched a couple of youtube videos and then leave then the phone on my desk as usual. This morning i unlocked the phone and the buttons wont respond? The button lights are working normally, it just wont respond to the touch. I already did factory reset. Is this hardware or software problem? Can DIY fix? The screen is normal, it's just the buttons. Please help.
i had the same problem about 2 days into my hox ownership.
had to ship the phone back to get a new one. definitely a software bug

if its a software bug, you can just easily reset to factory defaults right?
why did you send it back for repair then?
If u say this is a software problem, it should be ok after factory reset. But it's not. Now I know I need to replace something in the phone. Should I change the digiter and touch screen or the only the digitizer?
shut it down for some time...and try charging it...
When it happened to me, HTC replaced the screen (and case :screwy, it sounds like a hardware fault.
Digitiser and screen is one unit, and although you can buy them separately, you can't separate them.

Oh my, screen + digitizer is awfully expensive here..
Can't you return the software to stock and ask your retailer to fix it? Or send it to HTC? Where are you?

I bought it 2nd hand without original receipt. No hopes on claiming warranty

[Q] Disable the Power Button

Ok, so I got stuck in the dreaded stuck power boot loop. After mashing the button for a bazillion times, blowing on it, spraying it, hitting it with various objects, it worked! And so far it has been working. But I don't want anything like that to happen again, where it will just shut off on its own due to its own crappieness.
Can you disable the power button, so that the only way to turn off the phone is by using power tools or some other widget?
I want nothing to ever happen when I press it, or when it decides to magically make contact with the inside of my phone.
I can't get inside the phone to deattach the connectors, because here is me -----> (O.O) here is my screwdriver ------> [=====+ and here is the screwdriver tip when I tried to open the phone ------> *snap*
So I now have a screwdriver tip stuck in one of the screws, and I am locked out of its innards, which may be a good thing
Any way to modify the code to disable the power button?
Please help! My phone went bananas again and after shaking it around I got it working again. This is an urgent matter, I can't use my phone like this.
It sounds like you tried most of the stuff in this thread already:

If nothing there works you may have to send it off for repair.
Ach! Do I have to unroot PA and reset the flash counter if I give it to T-Mobile? My phone is a refurb, it's replacing a broken, really old HTC that no one makes anymore. What a hassle! All for one tiny defect with HUGE consequences! I am still under warranty. I don't know of any good local phone repair shops here in Hawaii, may have to mail it in.
FML, today's my birthday, and I may have to pay for another phone.

Well, at least you are still under warranty. I am not sure what happens when you send it to T-Mobile. Hopefully someone with experience with that can chime in.
Good luck and happy birthday.

Heh, been eyeing the nexus 4, even with its flimsy back. I can always get a case.
Yeah, hopefully it doesn't decide to go bonkers on me again. So far it has not been turning itself off and on or getting itself stuck down, but you never know...I'll see what my options are from here on out.

I can tell u from a friend that works for tmobile service department that when u send it back for repair they most likely won't even turn it on, especially with your issue all they'll do is their it in the refurb pile and send ua new "refurbished" phone so no it won't matter if u leave it rooted, your going to get a different phone back anyway unless u personally bring it to a 3rd party repair place
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using xda premium
The power button's function is hardware based. No way to disable via software.

[Q] Digitizer doesn't work after 2nd unlock

Hello,
I just repaired a G3 screen and found that now, the G3 only works after the first time you unlock it, when it boots up. It works perfect, but when I press the power button to lock it, then when I press it again, the digitizer doesn't work. No matter if it there's the pattern lock, or anything. Could it be that te proximity sensor is damaged? How can I deactivate it in order to try it?
Thank you

I have tried an app that tests the proximity sensor and it works perfect. I don't know what is happening..
And it works now, trying, after closing and opening the smart cover... But I have to do it everytime I need to use the digitizer... Is strange
Thank you
Does anyone know what happens? Maybe the clue is in settings, but I haven't found anything at this moment.
Any clue?
Not working after hard reset
I've hard reseted the phone, and I have still to close the cover and open it to make the digitizer work. Do you know if installing another ROM will fix the problem?
exact same problem here
Have you found the solution yet?
Had the same problem with my G3, had to send it to warranty repair, cost me 130 euros since I had it fixed with non-official parts, it had to do with the proximity sensor being behind a certain type of glass that didn't allow it to work properly.
To summarize it into two solutions now, either I buy the lg g4 smart cover to bypass the digitizer problem or to send it to warranty and install the original glass back. Will it be the same if I replace the non original glass with original glass from lg myself?
If u could gwt away with using a g4 smart cover on a g3 then id choose that route dude. Download the app offerup and see if anybody local has one. People sell tons of phone cases and accesories u might find one cheap i use this app its where i bought my g3 from for 100 bucks lol

Is it lg or samsung that has this feature where when u use a smart cover only that part of the screen lights up n the other pixels are off to save battery? I read on it a few years back
I think I have solved the problem on my g4. I open back back my phone motherboard and reconnect and test the digitizer for a few times. It seems that my Mainboard is not pushed enough against the digitizer. Right now if I press the back of my phone a bit hard. The problem will appear again. And I need to press the back again for a few times to solve this.
my old boss has a business fixing phones. I use to help em with iphones. Well i had broke my lg g2 n asked em to fix it n he says he dont do Lg g2 g3 or g4 he said he lost so much money doing them because half the time after fixing it the screen wouldnt even power on. He said if it did it wouldnt last longer than the 1 year warranty he offers. Idk why that is because he fixes just about any other phone but LG he didnt mess with.

Not so usual screen problem

Hello guys, after screwing up my phone I'm using my tablet a lot more. So i'm experiencing some problems. The screen problems increase when i use the tablet more often, but i don't have this phantom touch problems it's actually the screen stop working. It just stays on lock screen and me unable to unlock it, i restart the tablet and still doesn't work. However the strange part is that when i hit the back of the tablet in something it immediately starts to work??? I know about the N7 touch screen issues, but i thought they were software based? But mine looks like it's hardware problem? Can you explain me and help me? Thanks.

If it's hardware, it's most likely, though not exclusively, the cable connections. You need to take the back cover off, and reseat them one by one. Takes a little work because there are 3 cables, one with 2 prongs. Reseat all of them if you can since you don't really know which one caused the problem.
Warranty?
Ok i saw some videos that it may be replacing the screen cables just as you said, but i have warranty. What to do? If i take it to warranty center it's most likely it will work there at the moment? It stops in random times.. What to do?
Removing the back without voiding the warranty is very simple but make sure that you will wear some sort of protective gloves and not touch any copper foil at all ( or you end up with finger prints.. ). Simply reattach the touchscreen connector cable only and you´re good to go.

Thanks for the info. Actually i can fix it easly not by hitting, but just by pressing the back cover. I saw where the cables are in a video and can permanently fix it by putting something between the back and the cables to keep thwm in place. And when i press they just go in place. For now i will just press it when needed. If the problem increases i will open and reattach all cables in place. Thanks for answers.
