S8, Google Photos only syncs to cloud when recently opened - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

My son has an S7 that was having the same problem, but I followed these steps and it now syncs all the time:
Settings / Apps / menu / Special Access / Optimise Battery Usage / All Apps / find Photos / Disable (battery optimisation)
I've tried this on the S8 and there's no change. It will sync for a little while after the Photos app has been used, then it stops until you open it again. Any other ideas on what I can do to get Photos to sync without having to open the app?

Gallery help

For whatever reason pictures from picasa are showing up in my gallery and I have never used picasa and it won't let me delete them. They constantly show in my gallery and I can't get them out...
Any suggestions? Thanks

I somehow managed this one as well.
Would hope for a more useful reply.
I tried toggling sync under my google account and rebooting and such and even tried manually searching for the pictures internally in my phone.
Fortunately, I made a non-related nandroid like 40 minutes earlier before applying a framework mod.
Reverted and reapplied to get back to where I was.
All I did to get the stubborn buggars to show up in the first place was click the "refresh" option in gallery.

i think the pics come from google+ (at least in my case)
should be the same pic you see in google+ / photo
so..or u uninstall google+, or remove all the pics in google+, or you have to live with the pics in ur gallery as i do
1. Disable sync for google photos under account & sync
2. Go to apps > Gallery
3. Force stop then clear data
If you enable google photo sync accidentally, the picasa album will show up in gallery again. Just repeat the steps above to remove it.
Lastly, use search next time. This question has been asked gazillion times.

If you have google+ installed and the albums are showing up again, clear data for G+ too.
They need to patch this coz it shouldn't be so troublesome.

Notifications No Longer Showing For Most Apps

Hi All
Recently I have noticed that my Moto 360 no longer pulls through notifications from apps such as the following :
- WhatsApp
- Gmail
- CloudMagic (mail app)
- Snapchat
- Facebook
- Twitter
The watch is connected to a Samsung S6 and is showing connected. Call's come through and my music goes through to the watch also. However all other notifications just don't seem to work?
Any ideas? I have factory reset the watch however that did not do the trick.
Thanks,
Sam

Front or back camera is not working with Google Hangout

When I use Google Hangout, I can see my video on my screen but people on other side, they don't able to see my video. I tried both front and back camera and faced same issue. I tried factory reset but not helped. Things work properly with other video calling apps.
Any help on this much appreciated?
I am also having same issue. Video doesn't work while using hangouts. I can see the video form other end and they can't see my video. Did you find any solution?
Video also doesn't work with Google Camera.
Just received a hangouts video call from my girlfriend yesterday. No issues whatsoever.
Also video does work with Google camera.. As does photospheres, very well I might add.
I googled and from few of the forums like us, I found one solution which worked for me also. I am sharing the details:
I'd recommend trying the steps below in a sequence to check if that helps:
1. Logout of Hangouts on mobile device.
2. Clear app data / cache for Hangouts application.
3. Go to Settings > Accounts and log out / remove your Google account.
4. Restart phone.
5. Go to Settings > Accounts and log back into your Google account.
6. Open Hangouts.
Keep me posted.

Mate 20X - different methods/settings to enable app notification's - pls use it

Please try the following methods:
1) Settings>Apps>Apps> three dots on the top right>Show system processes> locate "Google Services Framework" and press on it. >Permissions>Additional Permissions> Enable both Read and Write instant Messages.
Thank you so much @ OrionBG for sharing the above step.
Since I have enabled this in my AL00, I've been getting all notifications from 99.9% of apps almost instantly.
2)Make sure the SIM card is inserted. Settings---Battery---- Click the gear button on the upper right corner--- switch on “Stay connected when device sleeps”.
3) Settings---Notifications----More notification settings---turn off "Smart notifications"
4) apps -> app Launch -> ( click on specific applications ) manage all manually ( all 3 options ) for selected applications. ( Whatsapp/facebook/etc..google..)
5) open the application and leave it running on the background by "locking the app" in the background. ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/mat...l-l29-t3887946 )
done the same for the past few days but only certain applications show the notifications like WhatsApp /Facebook/youtube/ google./instagram
no issues with Volte /dual-volte/ calling etc..
I have tested all these from WIFI - I have to start testing with mobile data. ( will update on it tomo )
but still,
1) I am not able to figure out the notifications for Line / Discord / all the games installed in the device.
2) after long hours of non-activity ( say 6 hours ) the applications on the background once again closes automatically ( even after doing the 3 & 4 th points mentioned above )
3) Apps -> default apps ->assistance & voice input -> ( google automatically logs out for some reason not sure why ) even tho i have removed the default Huawei app, I am not able to get the G-assistant as default.
it works for sometime and after some time, the option goes to default as "none" and I have to choose it once again back.
( yes I have done the 3rd point run manually for google assistant )
4) Gdrive -> My drive -> backups -> backup settings -> all the application data is showing as waiting for backup ( except the contacts )
not sure how to fix it - all options are greyed out.
5) Always on display don't show the notification icons - I tried 3rd party " amoled "but battery consuming - ( I will wait for the update in Original built-in software )
6) Screen recorder able to record, ( in-app settings I have enabled all the permission, microphone etc ) but when I click on the screen recorder
by default, the application microphone is greyed out and not able to switch it on.
7) for google maps history to work, I have to root the device and rename folders as per this thread ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/mat...eline-t3887627 )
but I haven't rooted yet. awaiting for proper method for rooting.
Above are the issues in My device ( EVER-AL00 Chinese Rom 8GB/256GB variant - non-rooted)
I have been trying to resolve the issue... but pending ones are the above which I need some help on. ( anyone knows how to fix the above let me know )
But the device is still awesome. until the above issues are fixed I will be using my old device ( mi - max 2 ) along the side.
Use glance plus pro for always on display with notfications
I don't see the most important setting here!

Regarding the receipt of notifications, this worked fine for me until EMU 9.1 installed yesterday. Now I find I need to leave smart notifications turned on, not off.
I have EVR-L29 9.0.0 and I do not have "Smart Notifications" BUT I have "Notifications Turn On Screen" which looks to be the same.
Thanks for sharing! I'm still not getting Google Hangout notification though [emoji58]

Question App question

For privacy reasons on every Samsung device I've ever had including the Note 10 I would remove Facebook and messenger accounts from the account screen everyday and would wipe the storage on the Facebook and messenger app and my user info would be cleared. Since getting the z-fold 3, when I do the above messenger still somehow shows the accounts that I have previously logged in with.
I have Samsung pass disabled and the only way to clear that information appears to be uninstalling messenger and reinstalling it. Facebook application manager is uninstalled and I answer no to the dual messenger prompts that pop up when logging in.
Does anyone know how messenger is retaining this information or what app might be doing it?
If you are for sure clearing all the data, then it must be server side
The ANDROID_ID value won't change on package uninstall/reinstall, as long as the package name and signing key are the same. Apps can rely on this value to maintain state across reinstalls

Maybe the app is still running so your account info is still in memory, or when one is cleared it copes the data to the other? Force stop both apps, then clear data?
How are you clearing the data?
If you are going into Apps -> Facebook -> storage -> Clear Data
There is a Package Manager app that somehow detects you are trying to clear its data and opens a special dialog to clear the data. I am at work and are not next to my test device but I will upload screenshots when I can.
If the force stop clear data doesn't work, then you could look at using Samsung Knox to clear the data.

Yes I'm first removing the account. Next I end the messenger task. Then I go to storage and clear the storage. Then I go to Facebook and end that task then I also clear that storage.
If it were server side, uninstalling and reinstalling the app shouldn't clear it so I don't think it's server-side. Doing the above method worked fine on my Note 10. There has to be some other samsung app on the fold 3 that is retaining that data.
You said you uninstalled the App manager, some devices have another system app called Facebook App installer. Maybe that one is present on your device?
That is my Fold 3 and Note 9

It's a pretty nasty and vicious virus that farcebook thingy!
And you reckon that Google or the keyboard don't keep track of your Facebook accounts? Usually Google retains my Facebook credentials, for fast log in.
