Play App Update do not install (download is ok ...) - Moto Z2 Force Questions & Answers

Hi,
since abut 3 or 4 weeks I've more and more problems with my Z2. I'm on stock 8.0.0, not branded, pure Moto. One of my problems is, that Play Store updates get downloaded but then do not install. When I reboot my phone the app update which got previously downloaded installs and the the process got stuck again. Some time suddenly two or tree apps get updated. The the problem starts over. I've tried every thing I've found e.g. clearing Play caches etc. nothing helped.
Edit: a closer look showed that the download hangs at the last few bytes but some times it downloads to 100% but just does not install.
Any suggestions?
TIA

Try stopping the play services and store app, clear data and cache, then try again. If that doesn't see if the issue is with wifi or data, switch one or the other off then try updating or installing an app, see if the problem is connection specific. You can also try clearing the phone cache from storage as well. I know these are trivial suggestions, but it never hurts to double check. Might clear your storage cache and check the permissions as well.

Thanks. Tried all this already. May be it's liked to my WiFi problem as it seems to be "better" now. If the problem persists I think I will try to factory reset it ...

cannot install apps from Market

In the past few days my EVO 4G has started to have an issue with installing or updating apps from the PLAY STORE (Market). It will download to 100% but never start the install process. If I press cancel and then use root explorer to find the app download and then click on it, I get a PARSE ERROR. what is causing the google play store not to start the install process after download? I have tried clearing dalvik cache, regular cache,. play store data and cache, google services fraimwork data, download manager data.. nothing make it start the install process...
Any help would be appreciated.....
Update: I just tried to download and an update.. it got stuck sat 100% .. I am using MIKG 3.11 ROM ... I used task manager and CLICKED the X next to the play store and it then started to install the update.. what is causing this? This trick doesnt always work....
ofh iodedio
I've had this sort of issue on other ROMs before, but they never seem to be persistent. Reflashing is usually my solution...
Try clearing your cache first through recovery?

if you saw what I wrote, I did clean the cache.. and I am NOT reflashing... I dont think its a issue with my flash as it has been working for months.. this just started a few days ago. HOWEVER it seems if I let it download to 100%, then wait a few minutes then kill the play store (market), then it installs the app or the update
any other ideas??

Apps won't download from Play Store

I can no longer download apps from the google play store. I press download, it says "Downloading...", the loading bar has small lines going across it, but progress never starts, and it sits there like this. Does anyone know how to fix this? I am running Tiny CM10.1.
My problems with the play store were solved when I wiped and reinstalled from scratch. This a sudden thing, or have you made any changes lately?
Others have also reported success by going in to Apps Management and choosing "Clear Data" for the Google Play Store. (There's also a Google Play Services in the list...not sure if it's necessary to clear that, too.)
I have had this problem somewhat recurringly on this rom, it didn't work for a while, then I cleared play store, download manager, basically anything with Google in the name. Other times this fixed it, but this time it wouldn't work even after a restart. I ended up getting it to work by rebooting to recovery, wiping cache, and restarting.

I Just had the same problem. Here is how I fixed it,
- Uninstalled updates for Google Play
- I added a New Google Account.
- I Then signed into the new Google Account, Then Sign Into Your Main Account
And "BOOM" problem solved.
I never had this problem until recently and it's happened several times now. It seems to happen after a major change to my system ie rom update or multiple app updates or Tibu restore I not really sure. I tried several methods of un-installing & re-installing the play store app and wiping it's cache and data with varying degrees of success.
What has worked every time without fail is a complete cache wipe with "CacheMate for root users" app.

I have that happen some times. I dont exactly know the reasoning but it seems like a overload of the server or your account when trying to re-add everything. Try to do a complete clean flash and put a rom on with the latest official gapps which are from the 1st of march and not June. When you load everything up, as soon as you click finish and it goes into the phone, go to the play store and stop all updates and downloads of apps so it will just have whatever you have pre-installed from the rom and gapps. You may need to watch the phone for a minute or two since it will update the playstore and then try to update/download apps again which you need to stop. Once this happens, try to install any one singular app and see if its successful.
turns out I use a proxy in my wifi settings. after I'd turned it to none, it's working like before now... but the only problem now: my device is undetected at google play website on PC

Well if not working try reseting the phone
I had the same problem yesterday, and I tried to check the My Apps menu in Playstore, it happened that all apps in "Installed" tab are downloading updates all at the same time. So I cancelled all the process and everything is back to normal.
Update Error
Hi! I'm having the very same problem. Any advice please?
Are the apps you are trying to update on the micro sd. If so try moving them to the device storage before you update.

A factory reset should work. However, I disabled my downloads app and the downloads provider and the play store refused to open.
I think that you should try to disable both of them; wipe any data or cache.
Then reboot and enable them and reboot again.
This should solve the problem.
Nexus 7 2013 Marshmallow not play store joy...
My Nexus 7 2013 updated with latest OTA Marshmallow some time ago, have rebooted a couple of times since then, suddenly stopped doing any app updates even though it seemed to think it needed to do so. The downloading progress bar would just go on forever. I finally got fed up and reset cache and data, rebooted and nothing. Then I did a factory reset, but let it try to re-add all my apps, that was taking forever as well and never actually getting anything to complete the installation. Then I did a factory reset without restoring any apps. The tablet runs, I can surf the web, lots of other things, but when I start the play store it apparently is the older version of the play store and it never wants to update itself. When I click the play store build(5.12.7) within play store settings, it says there is a newer version available and will be installed. That hasn't happened for 2 solid days now. I can't get any apps to install at all and the play store is stuck on the older version.
Advice?
P.S. Yes, I have a good WiFi connection.
I am having this issue now on Zenfone 2 version 4.168. Somehow, this started happening after my friends wifi went down. When it came back I still couldn't use it effectively. I could not connect to games or google play store. I tried clear cache and data from services and play store one by one but no solution. I booted to recovery and wiped cache from there still no difference. Factory reset was only solution that worked and that was my last resort. I thought the wifi I was on got hacked or ddosed because thats when issues started. So it has happened again after I did the factory reset. I synced my apps from gmail after I reset and it was fine for at least 4 hours till now I can't connect to game of war and when I go to play store and my apps, I get can't connect to play store.

Strange Google services behavior after latest AT&T update

I received the latest AT&T update a week or so ago containing the 2.5 One UI update. After the update, I am experiencing some really strange issues with a variety of Google services.
1) Google Play Store updates are stalling. Most apps will download to a high percentage of completion (98% for example) and then just stall. If I leave the phone sit for a long time, eventually the updates will finish. This happens with every single app update or new download. I have 100GB free on the phone and it occurs on multiple networks (WIFI and AT&T).
2) GMail attachments won't download. They also stall at 0%.
3) I don't receive any incoming text messages when Google Messages Chat is enabled. Turning off chat and switching to SMS works though several texts say they failed to send and I have to retry (and they always end up going through). WIFI Calling is enabled.
4) Notifications from multiple apps are returning after I swipe them away. (Notification reminders is turned off in accessibility settings).
I did the usual - cleared cache in Google Play Store, Google Play Services, Google Services Framework, Download Manager. I cleared the cache after booting to recovery. When none of that fixed it, I completely reset my phone to factory conditions. Everything worked fine for 2 days and then today, all of the problems came back.
Everything else about the phone is normal as usual. I can't figure this one out and don't know what else to troubleshoot.
Try clearing the system cache on the boot menu.

That's it. Can work like voodoo on lots of gremlins.
If that doesn't get it try clearing data on the Google apps. Might have to take it back to the stone age but probably not.
Reboot afterwards if you do. Playstore is a pain.
If the OS hasn't been reloaded since Q was flashed consider reloading to get a snappy clean load.
My 3rd OS load is the best.
Although I'm still running Pie, it's fast and very stable... lol, I like dinosaurs. I don't update a lot as it usually causes more problems than it solves.
I had cleared the cache from recovery before I factory reset and it didn't fix it. However, I just tried it again on the new rebuild and this time I cleared the cache 5 times in a row and then rebooted. It appears to have fixed all of the problems. I wonder if it was a bad app update to Google Play Services after the restoration to factory conditions?

Sometimes you're better off staying on the factory load versions. I never let auto updates run.
I keep Playstore disabled unless I want to use it or check for updates because of this and it also is a resource pig.
Manually doing it makes spotting the trouble maker easier.
I also keep backup copies of known good updates for system apks so that the factory load isn't my only recourse if a apk been updated more than once. APK Export is a great freeware app for doing this. Backup all your Playstore apps too for faster and easier reloads. Plus if Playstore discontinues the app, you still have it. Been boned by Playstore* once too often.
*sometimes the software goes greedy, gets sold or there's a licensing issue. Either way once it's gone having a known good copy makes life so much easier.
Hello,
The same thing is happening to me but for several months now. I am in Spain with Movistar. The only way I could get them to update the Google Play APPs was to switch my mobile to "safe mode" and from there it really works.
I'm going to try a factory reset, to see how it went.

A reload probably won't help. It will very likely reoccur.
It sounds like a 3rd* party apk is the culprit.
Find the root cause and correct it.
It may be just a setting issue in a 3rd party apk.
*they include carrier, Samsung and misc others you installed.
