Nope you'll have apps force closing error

I just tried it nothing happend everything works perfectly
I switched from cardinal os to nitrogen 9.0 and no FC
Wiped system, dalvik, cache
The exact process if anyone wants to try :
Wipe system, dalvik, cache
Flash nitrogen rom file
Clear cache
Flash gapps mentioned in the nitrogen 9.0 op
And just boot (It takes time for first boot wait patiently)
# remember if you want to flash a rom dirty over another rom check if both have the same base i.e AOSP can only be flash over AOSP same goes for the treble support, if yes then most probably you won't face an issue

Updating nijel8's Unofficial ROM LineageOS 14.1 (Helium) Basic questions

I'm using nijel8's Unofficial LineageOS 14.1 and am really pleased with it. My previous rom was the weekly Xiaomi.EU rom for Xiaomi Mi Max Helium.
When I updated my Xiaomi.EU Rom, I would reboot into recovery and then:
1. Backup > system/data/boot
2. Install new ROM.zip
3. Wipe > Advanced Wipe > Dalvik /ART Cache and Cache
4. Reboot.
Is it the same process with LineageOS 14.1? There are FIRMWARE.zips and I installed one during my initial installation of the rom. Do I need to updated the firmware again, then install the rom, or do I just skip it and install the ROM.zip?
I didn't think it was appropriate to litter the main thread with this question, so I'm hoping I get an answer here.
Thanks in advance.
Yep, same procedure + gapps, firmware update is up to you. You can skip it if you don't have problems but in general is good to be on the same firmware as the MIUI base.

OK. I will flash the new firmware and the rom update. Cheers!
But gapps? Can't I just leave the updating of Google stuff to the play store?
EDIT: I did some more Googling and now understand why. All is good. I backed up, flashed the most recent firmware just to be safe. Worked fine. Then I flashed the updated ROM and the Gapps I installed before and rebooted. Smooth as silk.
Is screen cast / Miracast working for you on this ROM?

Most stable Oreo based custom ROM

I am giving my girlfriend my Nexus 5x while I am out of the country and am hoping to be able to keep some of the extra features of a custom ROM like tethering, tap to wake and a custom kernel without compromising stability and ease of updating over stock.
Currently I am using the latest Nougat based PixelROM and I like the additions of it but I am unsure if the Oreo release is totally solid or easy to update. If none of the Oreo roms are stable I will just restore to stock but wanted to get opinions first.
Thanks in advance!
AICP has been stable for me since I installed it in mid-January, no force closes, random reboots, or unexpected battery drains. It's based on LineageOS though, not stock.
@jolness1: I recommend ABC, latest bullhead-update: features ≈Pixel, stable, regular updates, lovely devs.
@rp158 are you use gapps because I have battery drain on ABC (clean install) and now I use AEX extended unofficial with NanoDroid mod and rocks fine without drain.
@Luca Toni, why should I use GApps Are you sure, you took the recommended package?
@rp158 Yes , I've been on recommended gapps by ezio.

Guide to flash Android PIE GSI Image:
Required files:
Project Treble ROMs - link
Vendor file - link
Use any treble support recovery - TWRP Treble - link
Instructions:
Download any Android PIE Treble GSI
Wipe sytem,data,cache,dalvik cache
Install Vendor zip file
Install GSI system image
Install Gapps if needed
Install Magisk if needed
Click to collapse
Ok this is misleading there is no reason to flash w vendor, the rom zip already has a vendor image and will overwrite it.
The real instructions are;
Wipe system, data, cache, dalvik and vendor
Flash MCAOSP zip
Flash the patch
Boot into system
Reboot back to recovery
Now flash gapps and magisk (if you want root)
And reboot
That's it.
No need to flash other treble roms for vendor.

Hey man do you know of any other launchers that support Android p animations other than the pre installed one

How to flash gapps and which gapps are good for treble AB ver ROMs?

I am new to treble roms and comfusing about which gapps should i use. Also about flashing order.
Open gapps , flame gapps and bitgapps which one is most suitable for treble ROMS?
Thanks u so much.
Hello,
i'm also on this problem. I also found the MicroG package which is very insteresting because it is a development without google in the background!
But bigger problem for me is still, how to flash the gapps without having TWRP?
I think there is no solution yet.
I try to install everything by myself. Playstore is working but for example Pokemon Go still cannot login!
Greetings

my experiences - flashing custom rom Xiaomi Mi Play (lotus)

I tried to flash any custom rom on my device, but I couldn't find any build for mi play. I started to mine on the internet, and I found Project Treble. Generally any device that has at least Android Oreo must support Project Treble, stock android version on mi play is Android 8.1, so it must support this project.
I downloaded an app Treble Info (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=tk.hack5.treblecheck&hl=pl&gl=US). It said that I have to look for an image with device category a for (of course) arm64. Unfortunately the only rom I found then was unofficial build of lineage os 16 (https://sourceforge.net/projects/andyyan-gsi/files/lineage-16.x/). It was long ago, so there was still no twrp build for mi play (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/unofficial-twrp-recovery-3-5-2_9-0.4344611/). I was confused about gapps but I managed to install microG. I just installed magisk (by patching boot image), and i installed magisk module microG_installer (https://github.com/nift4/microg_installer_revived).
Week ago I decided to install other rom. I found couple of them. HavocOS, Resurrection Remix, AOSP and CrDroid R MOD. Every of this rom didn't work. Only HavocOS and AOSP showed their boot splashes, but AOSP never booted to actual OS and HavocOS made boot loop.
I think, GSI (project treble) rom on Xiaomi Mi Play must have two things to have even a chance to boot. First thing is version of android - maximum is Android Pie. Second thing is phh. The image must be "Phh-treble" (just look form images with phh in name or description), but this is only my theory.
Finally I decided to flash back lineage os 16 from Andy Yan, but with open gapps (https://opengapps.org). I tried to flash nano, but there was error, that i have to small free space on system partition. Fortunately I successfully flashed pico, but after booting I couldn't even proceed by google device confguration.
So if you want to have custom rom on your Xiaomi MI Play I recommend you to:
Flash Lineage OS 16 from Andy Yan's builds (https://sourceforge.net/projects/andyyan-gsi/files/lineage-16.x/)
Flash magisk (you can do it from twrp https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/unofficial-twrp-recovery-3-5-2_9-0.4344611/)
Install microG_installer magisk module (https://github.com/nift4/microg_installer_revived)
I hope this post was useful for you

Data is encrypted. You can't just wipe it. Before you enter advanced vipe, theres an option "format data". Enter it, type "yes" (it's just a confirmation) and ur data is formated
If you then run MIUI or flash lineage and run it, it will again encrypt data

how stable is the rom?
Well, many apps just don't works, because they are thinking that the device is rooted. In some way it's true.
There are some strange behaviours of fingerprint detector.
But overall the ROM is not crushing
I haven't noticed any other bugs or I do not remember them. But that was mine main pain about this rom
