I am giving my girlfriend my Nexus 5x while I am out of the country and am hoping to be able to keep some of the extra features of a custom ROM like tethering, tap to wake and a custom kernel without compromising stability and ease of updating over stock.
Currently I am using the latest Nougat based PixelROM and I like the additions of it but I am unsure if the Oreo release is totally solid or easy to update. If none of the Oreo roms are stable I will just restore to stock but wanted to get opinions first.
Thanks in advance!
AICP has been stable for me since I installed it in mid-January, no force closes, random reboots, or unexpected battery drains. It's based on LineageOS though, not stock.
@jolness1: I recommend ABC, latest bullhead-update: features ≈Pixel, stable, regular updates, lovely devs.
@rp158 are you use gapps because I have battery drain on ABC (clean install) and now I use AEX extended unofficial with NanoDroid mod and rocks fine without drain.
@Luca Toni, why should I use GApps Are you sure, you took the recommended package?
@rp158 Yes , I've been on recommended gapps by ezio.

Latest update: 2016-10-27 To view a changelog, you can visit http://www.cmxlog.com/13/quark/ for a rough idea up to the build date.
Hi all. I was able to compile this stock build of CM 13.0 thanks to the efforts/hard works of Skrilax_CZ, baybutcher27, the folks who created Resurrection Rom Remix, and those over at CyanogenMod. It takes some minor features from Resurrection Rom apparently (i.e. notification light, some tiny performance/battery tweaks, and the ability to install Motorola apps). It is otherwise stock CM 13 and I use this daily. I and the other authors/devs assume no responsibility if you damage your device somehow.
Please don't feel pressured to update any more often than you wish .
Notes:
In order to make my calling work for Verizon, I had to go under Settings->Cellular networks->Preferred network type, and select LTE/CDMA (not LTE/GSM/UMTS). I assume GSM users should be fine with the defaults.
My recommendations to install:
Install TWRP 3.0.2 if you haven't already: http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...recovery-twrp-2-8-7-0-touch-recovery-t3180308
Perform a backup of your current system/ROM (not really needed if just flashing a newer version).
Perform a factory reset/wipe (if coming from another ROM). If not coming from another ROM, still safest to do a dalvik/art cache reset.
Install the .zip
Install the appropriate google apps (http://opengapps.org/ , ARM, 6.0). I would think nano or micro is best.
(Optional) Install a custom kernel. The best at the time of this writing are at:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-maxx/development/kernel-bhb27-kernel-t3207526 (CM-NX-RR-M builds for Marshmallow)
The latest is here: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=50122
Wipe dalvik/art cache if you install another kernel.
Reboot and enjoy
Kernel Adiutor is very good for performance/power saving adjustments:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.grarak.kerneladiutor
If you are using bhb27 kernels, then you should use his version of Kernel Adiutor:

I'll be back to post updates fairly regularly (~every 1-2 weeks), but I also work full time in addition to being a Dad (those of you who are know how that is ) and won't really be able to response to PMs very well. The sources I used can be found under the post on XDA here at http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-maxx/development/rom-resurrection-remix-t3316232 (device, vendor, and kernel trees). Thanks and God bless.
I just flash this version and its absolutely amazing.
Good job devs!
Bugs I noticed:
-Settings for LED doesn't work.
-Android Auto says is not a supported device.
-Quick Charge 2.0 doesn't seems to work.
-Phone gets really hot when charging.
-...
I have been tempted to flash this all day, but I love how smooth my phone has been on resurrection remix and I enjoy the extra customizations it has. I'm eagerly awaiting the next resurrection remix build for all the latest git changes

That's a bummer with some of those bugs. Hopefully those will be taken care of soon and I'll be able to sync and rebuild. Did all of these happen to be with the stock kernel, or did you happen to flash another (like baybutchers)? I've seen a few specific to the tiles, but I dont have an Android Auto system to check against. Also, if they are working (or some) in resurrection then I could possibly try to patch this.

I don't know exactly, I installed it by downloading the zip and gapps to my PC and used the ADB sideload, before that I was using the last nightly of CM12.1. I did that and I didn't loose my info (either way I did a TWRP backup of everything, except cache previously), so I think it was the CM kernel. When I installed for the first time CM I flashed also the zip and gapps, if that way the stock kernel is changed with the CM kernel I think I'm using CM kernel.

Yeah that sounds like the stock cm kernel then if you didn't flash anything like that separately. I don't know if it would help, but you could always try the other kernel I posted about and see if Android Auto works (would have to restore your backup if you didn't want to keep it). It just depends how much you care and if it's worth staying with the ROM to you. There's obviously bound to be some bugs, but I enjoy using a lean version of the latest and greatest system. Thanks for the feedback .
Installed it 2h ago, everything is running fine so far.
This is smoother than the old cm and than rr too. I'm impressed!
I'm using Bhb Kernel.
My phone is turbo charging, led is working...
No bugs for me.
Nice job, mate! I'm glad we got a new cyanogenmod that we can have updates. Keep strong!

I've just been going under the built in privacy guard and setting advanced permissions to where apps I don't need to start at boot are denied, in addition to also denying a lot of them from being allowed to keep the device awake. I get very little battery drain in standby this way. If the cell signal is too weak though, it's really hard to prevent extra drain as it over compensates to get a good signal.

It's a little hard to say since there is a lot and I am just syncing to the main CyanogenMod 13 repository. However, this is a good link if you go by the date and something similar (such as the Nexus 6 which shares a lot of hardware).

This may be a dumb question but does this have VoLTE enabled and working(Verizon user)? Since it is CyanogenMod based I assume not but just waned to ask.
calsurferpunk, can you fix wifi on XT1254 with stock Brasil 1225's 6.0.1 ROM? CM12.1 and CM13 detect Moto Maxx and Droid Turbo radio very good!

Your assumption is correct. I don't believe this has ever worked with CyanogenMod. I'm on Verizon and haven't seen it.

I had this problem on other ROMs as well until I restored the original manufacturer ROM, set GPS to device only, verified it worked, then flashed the new ROM. You might have to do the same here. I believe it's been a long ongoing bug with CyanogenMod (and probably others).
pretty thx for the cm13,did it have ambient display?
I am downloading this at work right now. It is slow and will take me a couple to download.
While it is dl'g, I have a question about wiping. Do I still need to do a factory reset if I am coming from a marshmallow cm13 RR rom?Baybutchers?
Also, I have not been able to get my GPS to work properly. In your post #17, you referred to original manufacturer rom. Where can I get this rom to set the gps? I do have computerfreek's room saved as a backup if I could use it? I don't have easy access to a computer to do a fastboot.
Thx.

Wait, ROM was updated to day 24?
Features:
De-bloated, Rooted, BusyBox installed, Deodexed, Zipaligned, Sqlite3 binary, smoother interface, better RAM management, full kernel control (install Kernel Adiutor from Playstore), improved internet/data speed, tweaked read/write from memory. GPS accuracy improved.
Notes:
Just download the Asus apps you need from the Playstore. Download Asus Weather for the Lockscreen Clock.
As this is stock based, kernel CPU is still controlled by default Power Manager app, so set it to Performance to maximize CPU speeds.
If you want more control in tweaking this ROM, I recommend flashing ABS Tweaks v5.0, just make sure to delete everything in the init.d folder before flashing. ABS Tweaks thread is here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software-hacking/tweak-arkaynine-boost-script-v3-0-t3120404
Instructions:
You must be on Marshmallow firmware with TWRP installed to flash this ROM.
Back up your current rom, check Boot, Aboot, System, Data in TWRP/Backup.
Clean install required. Wipe Cache/Dalvik/Data in TWRP.
Flash Rom zip.
Initial boot may take longer than usual, normally 8-10 mins.
Once phone boots and you complete setting up, download, install and run Uni-init.apk to activate init.d support, then reboot to activate tweaks.

Sir you're also from the Philippines right?
Btw is this rom got some major bugs etc? Does off charging work?
Im currently using the RR official rom running nougat 7.1.1
How can I change to this rom? Should I reflashed the stock recovery and then flash stock rom from asus before flashing twrp again then flash this rom?
Or can I flash this directly from twrp while on RR nougat rom? Thanks in advance
since CleanMax is stock based, the bugs from the Lineage based roms are not present, so no offline charging bug. coming from a Lineage based rom, you just have to do a clean wipe before flashing this on TWRP.
Need to flashing Reaper Kernel ?
it's entirely up to you, flash Reaper or keep stock kernel. no problems with either
I did flash this coming from RR rom
Cant download any app at playstore (using wifi)
Higher ram usage than RR even there is nothing other app installed yet?
I did not flash any kernel just did follow all the instruction before I flash the rom zip file from the dl link
Did I do something wrong? Or it needs some tweaking before I can use it to its optimum performance/battery usage?

Update: Flashed from MM stock and I've got bootlooped. Or may be it's because my stock MM is already on bootloop?
Flashed it on my device with absolutely no problems and it works as intended. I was previously using RR nougat ROM and I had no problem installing this after wiping everything in recovery except external storage (which contained the cleanMAX rom zip). Been using it for about a day and I`m pleased with the performance. Animations and system run smoothly and I haven`t encountered any errors or bugs yet. Ram usually sits at about 50-60% on casual use which is more than better for my taste. As for the battery, I can only say that it handles well so far. Installed the ROM this morning when battery was 90%, now it`s almost 8 pm and battery is at 70% having in mind I constantly used it for texting and installing my necesary apps. I figure I`d probably need a couple more days to see how the really battery performs. But overall for now I personally really like this rom, thank you creator!

Hi, I want to find something to replace the stock OOS, and is there any rom that meets following requirement?
Good battery life
Fairly balanced performance
Stable
Frequently updated
Fairly customizable
I find many custom roms doesn't have advanced reboot which can be useful in certain scenarios So a Advanced reboot toggle would be even better
And also it would be nice if you guys know a kernel that helps with the battery life:angel:

stock OxygenOS ROM + RenderZenith kernel+magisk+greenify(add most of the apps except messenger apps)+aggressive doze+extra(google camera fix and port)+ditch Oneplus camera
the combinatiin I mentioned is the smoothest experience you will ever have on the 5t

I don't want or need any mods or custom features, just simple stable with maybe root.

The best, most current is LineageOS and here is yesterday's 20181208 build available. LOS provides a native root solution which you activate in the developer options. If you are concerned with privacy and battery drain, then either do not install the Gapps spyware at all, or install LineageOS for microG with great FOSS alternatives.
Please read more on the microG and on The NO GAPPS Initiative websites.
:good:
Currently using Lineage 14.1 microg (7.1.2). Not having google services really make the tablet excel in battery life. Currently getting 9+hours sot with youtube watching/reddit/twitter
I have tested the official nightly mokee rom 9.0 for mi 6. This seem to be based on lineage os( it's almost identical) but it is so much smoother. For now it's the fastest and smoother custom ROM ever tested in my life. About stability and battery I don't know because I use only 3 days.. seem to be good but it's recommended official recovery and official website gapps. Even the gaming is outstanding. The touch latency is so low and has lot of free ram. I tested also on S4. Lineage os official lag compared mokee .
Any reviews would be appreciated thanks

SElinux works in the basis that it will only allow predefined activities to be run on the system. So like fingerprint activities is common. To be enforcing the developer has to define all of these rules. Tedious and time consuming they have to do it last and it takes a while.
Permissive or disabled just means any activity can run.
Its not as safe as enforcing. But if you use root then arguably you defeat the point of enforcing anyway...
Don't worry about it unless your phone needs to be 100% secure... In which case you should be using stock MIUI anyway
Permissive is the same as disabled except it's is logging right?
Well that's true actually.. having a rootet custom rom might not be super secure anyway... lol
I have checked that @xiaobai112220 still maintain sagit repo on github
sounds promising
