Indeed .. it's missing now.
Do you run stock google ROM ?
When did 1440p stopped working ?
Since last ROM update .. or since last YouTube app update ?
The May 2018 stock ROM did "kill" 1440p ? .. Does it work in June update again ?
Thanks
Is there a way to have 2k again for YouTube?
I'm using the Resurrection Remix ROM
Thank you
Help me, please.
It's very annoying, i can't find a way to fix this issue with YouTube, 2k
Should I try maybe, to run the default rom, before May 2018?
Who's the culprit? Latest YouTube updates, or my custom ROM RR?
Any ideas are welcome, thank you
i am using the stock rom and no more 2k in youtube dont know if it was an app update or a rom patch

I've been wondering about this as well. Not only on my Pixel C, but on my HTC 10 1440p options is long gone. I still use OGYoutube and even on it (an older version of Youtube that doesn't change the resolution so aggresively like the new version does) 1440 is no longer there. I can't test this anywhere else because I'd don't have any monitors with high resolution than 1080p. I guess Google can't afford it on mobile? they need to remake the Youtube app. It's a mess.
There's some settings in YouTube Vanced that allow for the highest resolutions on every device. So now I have 1440p on my pixel C when I am using YouTube Vanced. If you need me to tell you what I did exactly ask and I'll go through the trouble of typing it all down It wasn't me shouldn't be too complicated to figure out

The LG G7+ ThinQ has 19.5:9 aspect ratio and the display extends till the notch and doesn't go beyond it. Even if you use the phone in immersive mode the display doesn't fill the notch area but rather it stays like a black area. Does anyone know how to use that notch area too?
Not sure if that is possible, but sure would be great if so.
How does the iPhone X work? Do youtube videos fill the entire screen, even the space next to the notch? And how about the other Android phones with a notch?
There is a reason why the phone is with this odd aspect ratio and why would you want it to extend on it? It would literally just bug you for nothing.

But the OnePlus 6 and most phones make better use of the notch if you choose too. Sure there would be a trick.

No.. there's a blank space visible in a lot of apps.
Haven't been able to find a solution for this yet.
Just to be clear, the request here is that when you're watching videos, you want to have a little bit of the left side of the picture displayed above/below the notch, and the rest of the leftmost strip just not displayed at all? Can I ask **why**?
..
When I'm watching any HDR10 content in landscape on the YouTube app, the display brightness goes haywire and continually goes all the way up and down by itself. It only acts like this when viewing full screen. It does this on both vanced YouTube and the regular app but not when playing directly through the YouTube website. I turned auto brightness off and it still does this. Does anyone else experience the same problem? I own the L29 btw

Thank you! Working great now It didn't have any option besides a codec override toggle. No S8+ or pixel choices but it still solved the problem. Thanks again
Hi Mate 20x users
Just wanted to ask does videos eg. Youtube and movies (vlc) gets affected by hiding the notch in the settings?
Is the notch still there even when it is disabled when watching a video?
Thanks
If you hide the notch, it stays hidden even if you zoom-in an YouTube video.

Is it possible to hide the notch automatically per app, say YouTube, VLC and Netflix but allow it everywhere else?

No. It's either always visible or always concealed.
Edit: apparently you can, wasn't aware of it.

I use YouTube vanced, I was scrolling through YouTube shorts and I came across this one short that turns up my phones brightness to 100% (brightness slider doesn't change). I watched that video from history it didn't change brightness. I also checked from another phone, didn't change brightness. So it's only while watching from YouTube shorts.
I'm just interested if anyone else ever came across something like this?
Are you using YouTube Vanced + MicroG or the rooted version?
