Should i be worried? - Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro Questions & Answers

I am currently on anti 3 is it safe to flash any custom rom?I probably wont go back to miui stock again unless im trying to sell my phone. So is it safe to flash firmware provided by custom rom developers or will they change my anti value to 4?

Your only worry is flashing Miui roms with ARB4 than going back to one with ARB3. AOSP/LOS custom roms not an issue. Even MIUI roms ARB3 or 4 not an issue IF you flash a firmware-less ROM, like the ones here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-5-pro/how-to/index-redmi-note-5-pro-miui-roms-t3816343
All about ARB: https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-5-pro/how-to/index-everything-anti-roll-t3816219
p.s. pls be more specific in title description, its too general.

Oh sry about that. well thx for clearing things up, really appreciate it

AOSP or LAOS doesnt affect ARB.. wether they are MM ICS N or PIE.
only in MIUI rom it affects . so if you in ARB3. with miflash just flash last ARB3 9.5.17.0 fast boot rom and decide to leave bootloader unlocked or relock it with miflash theres option in bottom.. to clean all or clean all lock (relock bootloader)

Back to stock rom with S-ON

Hello guys,
i'm an owner of HTC one M8, with unlocked bootloader from htcdev but with S-ON.
I just want to go back to stock rom, because every custom rom i try has some issues (battery life mainly too short! I dont know if this is because of firmware, i
dont know how to update it or even how to see what is my one now).
But, the only guides i see are with S-OFF devices. Is this possible to to it with s-on?
Also, i would be s-off if there is a still working method, i've seen firewater one doesnt work anymore so there are no other solutions.
EDIT: at least guys, can you tell me how to check and/or update my firmware?
You post this on wrong section .. should be in Q&A ... I'm asking a mod to move this thread to Q&A
Read this thread, it is for both S-On and S-Off to get back to stock - http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/tutorial-how-to-stock-stock-twrp-t3086860
First thing to check is fastboot getvar all result (delete serial & imei no.) then we will know what you need to do
Try MIUI7 rom

listen you can try MIUI based rom for htc it have great battery backup compare to the other marshmallow based roms,
so you first try miui rom(4.4.4) for htc , it have some bugs like google text to speech isnt working but battery backup is awesome. rom is stable though. and you cannot rollback to stock using ruu when your device is S-ON , use sunshine for S-OFF, lol pay $25

Ok i would like to not pay lel.
THE PROBLEM in using custom roms is, i think, the firmware, because i just flashed trough fastboot the roms, without updating any firmware.
I tryed Android revolution HD and Skydragon but booth had battery problems, i mean the battery was going down too quickly also with screen off (from stats, in 6 hours i say 3 hours deep sleep, 3 hours 300 mhz cpu so it didnt "relax"!
I really want top say thanks to ckpv5 that helped me in PM's and linked me his own guide to restore to stock rom, it worked and it's all perfect! Thanks man!
Just a last question: now i have the stock htc one rom, so i'm doing OTA's. This means my firmware is automatically updated with them?
So if in future i want to install a custom rom MM based, i won't need to flash firmware?
Yes firmware is updated with the OTA .. after the latest OTA 6.12.401.4, you can install latest TWRP and install MM custom ROMs .. no need firmware update anymore
Very well, thanks mate.
for the moment i'll leave the stock rom.
I will use a MM custom rom when they will be based on official MM rom for htc one m8, and not porting from M9/A9

There have been MM based Sense custom ROMs since before the new year (Viper, Skydragon Sense, Wolla, ARHD).
S.ROM is the only A9 port.

Kernel explain

My question is
Can i install kernel when ive got working phone like right now?? Or i have reflash all thing again?? What woukd happen if i will flash kernel right now ?? And just only kernel. And what adv gives me to install custom kernel pls explain
Hi,
Based on your post, I don't have enough information to say one way or the other. To flash another kernel you need to have an unlocked bootloader and TWRP installed. If you meet both of these conditions, then yes you can install a different kernel regardless of the fact that you aren't installing a ROM and Kernel at the same time. As always, make sure you take back ups before you proceed.
The next step is working out with kernel. You can not install a kernel designed for a stock based ROM on CM13 or vice versus.
Regards,
Ravi

Flashing a kernal is simple. Just head into recovery and flash. You'll keep all your data and everything would look like the same like before.

No sim with lineage based roms

Hi, i need some advice about this problem, bcz i searched that a lot but i cdnt find anu solution. Any Lineage based roms, like Viperos, Strelka, Ressurection Remix, Aokp rom etc (Any 7.x.x too i guess) doesnt work well on my n7100. Im flashing them and they are booting fine too, But when the screen came on, they says no sim, when i checked about device i dont see any info about modem. But imei is not erasing. Boot loader mj5, modem nd3 (i just changed it mj7 modem but still same) . When i flash stock rom or Hyper rom or any 4.x.x based rom works fine. I cdnt find any solution bcz i tried everything. Anyone can give me an idea about this ? bcz i stuck with 4.4.x roms. Thanks..
Is the phone running the latest by bootloader and modem? Some custom ROMs require a phone that is running the latest version of both.

Yes , found latest ones in here and flashed some time ago.
Did you update the bootloader and modem by flashing the latest stock rom or just the bootloader and modem? Not sure if this would make a difference.

I tried both way. Stock rom and 4.4.x based custom roms works fine. They were working fine with older modem and bootloader too. I tried to flash lineage based custom roms on working stock rom and custom 4.4.x too, w/o wipe. They did same thing, everything works fine just no sim silly right ?
Very strange that the sim is not detected. I don't have a note 2 to try out Lineage.
Did you post your question in the the ROM's thread in the Development Forum? Perhaps someone there could offer some more advice.

Yep its strange, i guess the real problem is those roms doesnt see what modem i have in device, bcz they are not showing that in about device. Thanks anyway, at least you tried to give some ideas
I didnt post my question in the rom's thread, let me try it.

What would you do?

Hi guys, first of all sry for my bad english..
Anyway... i'm here to ask u some things.. i own a zenfone 3 delux (from sku TIM to WW) And i'm bored of the vanilla rom. (Atm i'm with Version WW-5.17.44.87 for the 2.15Ghz obv..)
And on this forum i've found only 2 Custom rom 1 is the lineage OS that have some bugs and i don't want to try (it's my main smartphone) The other one is the Turbo.. that looks good but is based on the vanilla OS.
So i founded 2 video on YT:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwvzmRNcj0I This one is LineageOS 15
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HLuYpffnI2M This one i don't now what rom is but it's android 8.0
Now.. what do u think about these two rom? Are for the zs570kl?
I still have to unlock botloader and Get root. if i try these 2 custom Rom i can revert to vanilla OS/Recovery and lock botloader again?
Edit 1: Why there are not a lot custom rom for this awesome device? It have a good potential...
Looks like Spyware/crapware for me. I would not recommend to install it.
You can always return to stock rom. Even downgrade is possible with unlocked bootloader. If anybody is interested i can do a tutorial on downgrading our device.
Unfortunately relocking the bootloader is not possible yet. Maybe if qfil unbricking is successful (there is a thread trying to achieve this) we could try to tinker alot more with custom roms without fearing a brick.
Change the SKU to WW and wait for oreo itself should arrive sooner or later.

I have seen way more ppl who were successful in flashing the xiaomi eu custom rom than those who had soft breaks. hard breaks were so few. mostly because they didn't do everything in the right way. locked bootloader.. etc
I hope ppl here try to compare between the two and whether the official stock rom is as stable and good as the custom one.
I was gonna make a posting asking the same.

Soft and hard bricks were a result of trying to upgrade/change device firmware using mi flash. Unlocking bootloader shouldn't result in a soft brick. Then flashing a ROM is easy.
I think that all problems caused because there is not yet a stable twrp
