My Mi Max 3 does not have Camera2API enabled, so I can't capture RAW pictures with the camera. How can I fix this? I tried Magisk but it broke the WiFi for some reason (WiFi could not be turned on at all). Is there any other way to enable Camera2API? I'm running MIUI 9.6.11.0 Stable (China ROM)
It's really stupid that Xiaomi doesn't let us capture RAW images with the default camera app of Mi Max 3. Good camera sensor totally wasted.
Was just hunting around for how to do this, is editing the build.prop file the only way I wonder? Couldn't find anything in the Magisk development and modification machine downloads section.
Look at this :
magisk-camera2-api-enabler
worked for me, i am now a happy Gcam user....
I ended up flashing a rom with it enabled.
Yeah I ended up doing the same, too as I wasn't aware of the module. I'll give it a go when MIUI 11 global finally surfaces!
1) Unlock your bootloader (Approx. wait for 1 week)
2) When it is ready, download "XiaoMiTool V2"
3) Unlock your phone.
4) Install TWRP
5) Install Magisk.
Good evening.
First of all sorry, for the Noob questions
Have read a lot, but want to assure me again ...
Actually, I want "only" under MIUI (other firmware may come later times), the Google Cam to run, because the photos then look even better than with Stock Cam!
I own a Xiaomi Note 5 (Whyred) with currently MIUI 9.5.13.0 Global.
To install the Google Cam did a Unlock, TWRP started (not flashed), added setprop persist.camera.HAL3.enabled 1, and via File Explorer the Arnova8G2-V7.9.5.apk installed.
Google Cam is up and running. My goal is now reached for stand
Now to my questions:
- As of MIUI 9.5.19.0 downgrading is no longer possible, can I still install it? Why would you want to go back to an earlier version?
- If I have another (higher), here eg. Install MIUI Version 9.5.19.0, do I need to install TWRP / setprop persist.camera.HAL3.enabled 1 / APK again? Or. do you always have to do that with an update? Or is the cam simply installed and just continue to work?
- Other tips for me when requesting MIUI + Google Cam when upadte MIUI ?
Thank you and have a nice evening !
Hi,,to answer your first question..guys would downgrade if they had issues like battery life or something with new firmware.
For the camera 2 api ..yes,,everytime you update,,you will need to enable it...hope that helps
I update to miui 10. Then google camera crashed.
I try mod to solve miui 10 camera bug.
Its work perfectly, I enjoy google camera and night sight mode amazing me so much. Thx to lots of peoples work.
Later the ota update from 8.11.8 to 8.11.15 failed.
So there are two ways to me and the price is phone reset.
Twrp or flashboot to flash into phone.
Thinking about when every week update system i need to set my phone done.
LoL That is so redicious.
Or I just follow security path update,
This is acceptable for me.
Just check this problem is really cause of mod changing system.
By the way I found out redmi note 4x in miui 10 still cant enable camera2 api?
(*>_<*)ノThank you all and thank god I can play google camera by low price.
Why??? why Xiaomi why...
I've followed a lot of tutorials to flash a camera 2api module enabler this shouldn't be complicated so i'm gonna post what i have been doing to see if someone can help
Bootloader unlocked
In fastboot mode:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img (am using the latest)
So i flash twrp temporarely just to enable gcam
In twrp i used a lot of modules but none of them work
Some even say that the flash was sucessful but in manual camera compatibilty it knows that the cam2api isn't enabled
If anyone could help it would be amazin
(Miui 11.0.5 Android 9)
My fear is that i can't flash cam2api on pie that would be a shame
Also, i don't want to root the phone that's why i'm not using a build prop editor
Ok so this just got more bizarre i've extracted the build.prop and the changes are there
the value is set to 1!!... but i am still failing any camera 2 api test...
If someone could help me understand this behaviour it would help a lot
Same for me. All camera2api guides I've seen are more or less sophisticated ways of adding lines to /system/build.prop, but that doesn't seem to be enough to enable camera2api and I'm dying to know why.
Whyred, MIUI Global 11.0.3, Android 9, bootloader unlocked. When I pull build.prop to my PC, it contains both "persist.camera.HAL3.enabled=1" and "persist.vendor.camera.HAL3.enabled=1", but camera tests fail and ported gcams just crash.
All ideas welcome.
Hello,
I didnt find something about the new beta. Someone did try the new android 13 beta? I have to wait a week for the bootloader unlock so i cant try it yet :/
Last i read they were focusing on 12 L.
Not sure how accurate that is though
Yes but yesterday they released the new 13 beta for the pad5
Oh you are so right.
Good to see
Android 13 Developer Preview builds are now available for these non-Google devices
Android 13 Developer Preview builds based on the beta release are available from multiple OEMs for a bunch of devices. Read on!

If you want to install it you have to unlock the bootloader but xiaomi dont unlock this before 1 week from the request...
Can someone to install it and show it to us? If there is the miui or if is the stock version of android 13. And if they put something like new gesture or something for the tablet. Thanks
I couldn't get it working. I'll try again with the next beta.

Nope. All other methods aren't worth the security risk. Just wait a week
Looks like Xiaomi have released an Android 13 beta for "Xiaomi Pad 5".
Looks like it is for Nabu.
Anyone tried it out?

Just managed to install the A13 Beta2 global rom.. so far its working fine for me aside from the brightness.... its a bit dim even its maxed out... the gpu driver version is still at .502.. successfully rooted with the latest magisk... need to manually set the 120hz in adb but so far I think its great...

How did you unlock the bootloader? Seems to be impossible :/ is it usable as a first rom? Is possible to install the gesture from the xiaomi launcher on the tab 5?

I unlocked the rom using the mi unlock tool provided by xiaomi and by waiting for almost 2 weeks (im using windows)
I'm still exploring this rom but I havent experienced bugs at the moment aside from the aforementioned brightness thats a bit dim for me even its maxed out... but if you need the other features of miui like the floating windows/dolby atmos and other stuff i think its fine to stick for miui for now and wait for the 12L or the official A13 for miui

Its pretty much a straightforward process after unlocking the bootloader..
download this one on your PC
Global A13 Beta2
Edit: Also dont forget to backup files since this will wipe all your data
1.Extract the downloaded file using 7zip/Winrar until you get a folder
2.Connect your phone in fastboot mode
3.Open the extracted folder and click the flash_all.bat
4.Wait for it to finish
5.Done
For rooting
1.Download the latest magisk apk
2.From the fastboot rom folder, grab the boot.img and transfer it to your phone with the apk you have just downloaded
3.Install the magisk on your phone and patch the boot.img
4.Transfer the patched boot.img to your pc and flash through fastboot
5.Reboot and install any modules you want

Which adb command ?
I just flashed the developer preview.
As I expected already the Smart Pen can connect but is otherwise not working.
The display configuration is off, but manually changing the dpi value in the developer settings fixes that.
Netflix works with playing back video that looks like more than just 576p (pal).
Otherwise due to the early of development of course there are more smaller and bigger issues with the release but it is quite nice to see a relatively well working clean stock Android build on the tablet. If it weren't for the missing smart pen support I might be running it as a daily driver.
