My Mi Max 3 does not have Camera2API enabled, so I can't capture RAW pictures with the camera. How can I fix this? I tried Magisk but it broke the WiFi for some reason (WiFi could not be turned on at all). Is there any other way to enable Camera2API? I'm running MIUI 9.6.11.0 Stable (China ROM)
It's really stupid that Xiaomi doesn't let us capture RAW images with the default camera app of Mi Max 3. Good camera sensor totally wasted.
Was just hunting around for how to do this, is editing the build.prop file the only way I wonder? Couldn't find anything in the Magisk development and modification machine downloads section.
Look at this :
magisk-camera2-api-enabler
worked for me, i am now a happy Gcam user....
I ended up flashing a rom with it enabled.
Yeah I ended up doing the same, too as I wasn't aware of the module. I'll give it a go when MIUI 11 global finally surfaces!
1) Unlock your bootloader (Approx. wait for 1 week)
2) When it is ready, download "XiaoMiTool V2"
3) Unlock your phone.
4) Install TWRP
5) Install Magisk.

Good evening.
First of all sorry, for the Noob questions
Have read a lot, but want to assure me again ...
Actually, I want "only" under MIUI (other firmware may come later times), the Google Cam to run, because the photos then look even better than with Stock Cam!
I own a Xiaomi Note 5 (Whyred) with currently MIUI 9.5.13.0 Global.
To install the Google Cam did a Unlock, TWRP started (not flashed), added setprop persist.camera.HAL3.enabled 1, and via File Explorer the Arnova8G2-V7.9.5.apk installed.
Google Cam is up and running. My goal is now reached for stand
Now to my questions:
- As of MIUI 9.5.19.0 downgrading is no longer possible, can I still install it? Why would you want to go back to an earlier version?
- If I have another (higher), here eg. Install MIUI Version 9.5.19.0, do I need to install TWRP / setprop persist.camera.HAL3.enabled 1 / APK again? Or. do you always have to do that with an update? Or is the cam simply installed and just continue to work?
- Other tips for me when requesting MIUI + Google Cam when upadte MIUI ?
Thank you and have a nice evening !
Hi,,to answer your first question..guys would downgrade if they had issues like battery life or something with new firmware.
For the camera 2 api ..yes,,everytime you update,,you will need to enable it...hope that helps
I got RN5 (global) which has Android 8.1.0.OPM1.171019.011 / MIUI 9.6.4.0
I would like to install google camera to have nice photo quality like pixel.
Came across this article which says we can do it without need to root.

Yes, you can get Gcam to work on your device by using these steps, If you don't wanna root your device.
Though rooting your device will make the process 5x easier, it's up to you. ?
Let me know if there's anything else I can help you with.
Have a nice day
You have to unlock BL to do:
- Install twrp recovery
- Flash CameraAPI2 enabler zip file
- Install GCam
But if not root, you can't take front HDR+ Enhanced and Portrait.
If you root you can solve front cam problem.
I don't know why you don't want root. If something relate to finance apps, magisk hide will pass easily!

Do you have working hdr enhanced in every light conditions? Camera is working for me only in daylight scenes. Rear works but front doesn't.

Yes you can, take a look here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-5-pro/themes/gcam-root-flashing-twrp-t3813230
Yeah you can do it but you need to unlock your bootloader at least if not root ...if you unlock your bootloader then you can temporarily boot twrp and by using you can enable camera 2 api and thus, install gcam
You can use ADB on MIUI to enable Camera2 API, which works without root.
(I am not a developer who created the below files, i am just a crazy boy who always install many stuffs for making phone more interesting, so credit for making the below files goes to the developers who created it, i just discovered the method by which stock camera will work on pie roms)
Hey Guys, I am visiting Many posts on xda for stock camera for mi a1 but still i found nothing which will work.. but now after Many tries i found on method which works for me..
So download the files given in below link
https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=1Ops1ScNLjtyPRy8k8nLhc0UhcDY-LfzP
Requirements:- Rooted Mi A1 (This method may also work in other phones but i had mi a1 so, i only tested in it) and also i tested in hovoc os , it may work in other roms too
Whats working
Almost all things working except slow motion
Installation process
1) Download All files in your phone.
2) Install Mi_A2_Camera_app_port-v3.zip ( In magisk) and reboot the phone.
3) then After reboot, now Install tissot-stock-camhal_v2.zip ( In magisk) and then reboot the phone.
4) After reboot, open camera and it will ask for permissions or u can give permissions from settings too. ( Portrait mode will still not work)
5) Now install Selinux changer app and set it to permissive and reboot the phone, now check the portrait mode if it is lagging then uninstall selinix changer app and reboot again, thats it
This method may not work for all but its works for me running with hovoc os.. so try it may work for u guys too, if it is working then hit thanks and sorry for my bad English

Use this mod at your own risk!
THIS MOD ONLY WORKS FOR S5KGM1 SENSOR WHICH IS USED IN NOTE 7S/GLOBAL VARIANT
Steps:
1) Flash 240_s5kgm1_lavender.zip using recovery, MOUNT VENDOR BEFORE FLASHING
2) To use 240 fps slow mo, use preferred GCAM, go to slow mo, click on 1/4(in bottom left), it will switch to 1/8.
3) Enjoy!
Link: 240_s5kgm1_lavender.zip
Preferred GCAM: HyperCam_E3.0_P.apk
I was a tester this mod is insane. Thanks for your hard work!
Is it working on AOSP roms or only in MIUI?
It works, thanks!
Btw there are separate versions of hypercam for android 9 and 10 on celsoazavado page and config files dedicated for our device
Thank you so much for that, it worked.

EvoX official already supports slow motion at 240fps out of the box with default gcam. So no need of flashing this mod.
Development regarding note 7 pro(Violet)
Dude I am appreciating your work and now same problem applies to note 7 pro as well it has maximum capability of 480fps but still it is recording in 120fps. So please help for note 7 pro to unlock atleast 240fps!
I tried it with multiple gcams, including preferred one and various 7.2, 6.2 and 6.1 versions. 120fps works fine, when I turn to 240 it just crashes. I think the issue is that I have Android 10. MIUI version: 20.3.26 beta
UPD. Got MIUI update 20.5.14, tried again. My best try: trCamera_REBORN_V5_deep_end_final.
1/4 / 1/8 switch works, but has no effect (both options do 1/4)
Thank you for your response
:fingers-crossed:

Don't works on MIUI 11
I test this mod on MIUI 10 and works perfectly but when I try to install it on MIUI 11 it doesn't works and breaks stock cam. Can you fix it ? Maybe only works with oldcam blobs
If anyone managed to use this mod, please write down specific ROM and GCam mod you've used it with.
AIDA64 says I have S5KGM1 sensor.
Rn7 with miui 12 xiaomi eu weekly 20.7.30
FC when move from 1\4 slowmo to 1\8 so isn't working here. I try with your suggested cam and with last parrot gcam with same result
Gcam is crashing after flashing this zip
no mirrors found???
redmi Note 7, ReloadedOS 20200809, newest gcam from parrot043 works fine, but the focus is either too close or too far when in 240fps and I have to move to get the thing I'm filming in focus
I wanna make me sure: Redmi Note 7 Global = Just Redmi Note 7, yeah?
Why??? why Xiaomi why...
I've followed a lot of tutorials to flash a camera 2api module enabler this shouldn't be complicated so i'm gonna post what i have been doing to see if someone can help
Bootloader unlocked
In fastboot mode:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img (am using the latest)
So i flash twrp temporarely just to enable gcam
In twrp i used a lot of modules but none of them work
Some even say that the flash was sucessful but in manual camera compatibilty it knows that the cam2api isn't enabled
If anyone could help it would be amazin
(Miui 11.0.5 Android 9)
My fear is that i can't flash cam2api on pie that would be a shame
Also, i don't want to root the phone that's why i'm not using a build prop editor
Ok so this just got more bizarre i've extracted the build.prop and the changes are there
the value is set to 1!!... but i am still failing any camera 2 api test...
If someone could help me understand this behaviour it would help a lot
Same for me. All camera2api guides I've seen are more or less sophisticated ways of adding lines to /system/build.prop, but that doesn't seem to be enough to enable camera2api and I'm dying to know why.
Whyred, MIUI Global 11.0.3, Android 9, bootloader unlocked. When I pull build.prop to my PC, it contains both "persist.camera.HAL3.enabled=1" and "persist.vendor.camera.HAL3.enabled=1", but camera tests fail and ported gcams just crash.
All ideas welcome.
