Display does not (immediately) turn on after pressing power button - Galaxy S 4 Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi!
When pressing the power button sometimes only the navigation lights turn on but the screen stays black but is activated (meaning I can type and control it blindly). To get the display illuminated again I need to press power twice (to turn display off and again on). This happens as far as tested every three times I sent the phone to sleep locking it. This is happening immediately after installing any ROM. I will test whether this happens also while in Recovery. If, does that mean it is a hardware issue?
Device: I9195
ROM: AOKP Nougat (before I updated to newest stock ROM available)
Recovery: TWRP
Any ideas? I searched the forum but did not find something so far.
Thank you!

[Q]HTC Desire, reboot when trying to wakeup

I have a problem, when i hit the power button the phone enter lock mode, no problem to wwake it up with keylock. When i hit power button and waits until the screen goes black, then i cant wake it up. It reboots?! Anyone with the same problem?!
I can make calls to the phone to wake it up from sleep mode, but not hit the powerbutton!!
I have also tried to wipe the phone without a positive result, in ClockworkMod Recovery, the power button works fine to turn on/off the screen.
Hmm did you ever get to the bottom of this? Am also having the issue and have tried 4 ROMS with the same effect.
Must be a hardware or hboot thing?
Which rom + kernel are you using? Please post also the information from your hboot.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

tiny MASSIVE problem.

Hey everyone, I've been using custom roms since they first appeared on these forums. This said, i have come across a huge issue.
I was on a 2.2.1 rom and something was screwy with the radio so i flashed the right radio files, which didnt help. So after this i thought the issue must be deeper in the rom, so i decided to install one of the other roms i had that i knew worked. This now leaves me with a unbootable phone (goes to the point of blue android text) the animation stops and the screen flashes. The animation then restarts, it does this indefinitely.
I can boot into recovery and flash mode just fine. However interestingly in recovery i cant 'click' the hidden hide button in the bottom right to perform a wipe etc. Anyone have any idea on how to fix this?
thanks
Dave.
The "hidden button" doesn't work on 2.2 so to get into recovery screen when you see the android logo press the volume up & volume down buttons both at the same time. This will take you to the recovery screen where you use the volume button to highlight an action & then press the power button once to confirm it.
I feel so stupid.
Thankyou so much mate. I owe you a beer. +1 internets.
Solved!

I know a Chinese custom 2.2 rom doing this as well. It's strange.

[Q] [HELP] Gnex does NOT turn on after a normal reboot

Anyone please help me, i'm very nervous
Today my Gnex has just decided not to turn on anymore after a reboot.
Please note that it is not Flashing - related, because i've used this current rom (Xenon HD v8) for about a week or so. When the fault happened, i just rebooted my phone during a normal daily use, and right after downloading Google Maps and updating Instagram. These are the only changes i made before rebooting the device. And booooom, it stopped running out of the blue.
It does vibrate when i press and hold Power button (for a normal boot) or when i press the combination of Vol up + Vol down + Power to enter fastboot.
But that's it. After the short vibration, it stays black
It does feel warm on the back.
So, what happened to my phone?
Please explain this Sh!t, many thanks.
Maybe this can help you.

Stuck on "Entering Recovery..." after trying to update TWRP version

I tried to update the version of TWRP I was using(v2.7.0.2) on my HTC One M8 (rooted) to v2.8.7.0 using the TWRP Manager App that I downloaded from the play store. The screen is stuck on "Entering Recovery...". I would appreciate any advice anyone can give me about how to get out of it. I tried holding down the power button it does nothing. The screen is frozen. How do I turn it off / get it to boot properly? Please help.. :crying:

Holding down the power button for what feels like an eternity got me through this when it happened last. I also had to flash TWRP again.
Alternatively, I believe holding both the power button and volume down during this stage is supposed to work. The only other way would be to either grin and bear a battery drain shut down (Not good if the device won't take a charge afterwards), or pop open the phone / remove battery.. Which I'm sure you can find a guide for both here and online. Hopefully it won't come to that, though!

Thanks a lot! Holding down both the volume buttons and the power button at the same time worked for me.
