So I got a g7 the other day and am loving it thus far. However, I switched to google's sms app but some sms's still come through to LG's app and not google's...it's quite weird and I even force stopped the lg app. Is this happening to anyone else? Any suggestions? Maybe go back to textra? Any help would be awesome.

hey everyone,
so this is actually for my girlfriends g2 and i haven't seen it in person yet, i'll see it tonight, but i figured i'd throw some feelers out there...
her g2, whenever she goes into the text messaging app, the whole screen except the top 1/4 (so she can see the status bar, the create new message, and the most recent text conversation). she's NOT rooted, totally stock and never upgraded to gingerbread. so the notification that she should upgrade has been popping up so she finally went ahead and let it upgrade today while she was at work and it seemed to all go fine she says but now that its rebooted and upgraded, the text message app is still exactly the same issue.
like i said i haven't seen it myself. any ideas? first things first is i was probably going to go in and force close the app. if that doesn't help i'm going to start clearing out her texts (who knows when the last time she cleared them out was). after that... not sure. any other ideas?
thanks!
Dave
This seems to be a common problem. I googled it and found others with that same problem. Didn't see any fixes, though. Try a third party texting app. Otherwise you may need to replace the screen. Could try rooting and flashing a custom rom as well.

Once in a while the SMS icon on my launcher dock will stop launching the SMS app and will start launching whatever app I was using before that. Anyone else experiencing this?
I'm attaching a youtube video of it (pardon the half assness of it)
+1 This has happened to me also. Not just the messaging app though. Happened with Google Music, Wordfeud, any app really. I have to back out of all the apps (close them all?) to get it to stop. It's only happened twice.
This has been happening to me for the past couple of days now. For me, closing all my background apps doesn't help. The only way to get things working again is to reboot the phone.
Yes has happened to me once. Rebooted to fix it.
Also have had an issue when composing a SMS message and then wanting to delete it before sending. I delete the text I typed and when I go back in the app the text is still there. Anyone having a problem with that?
happened here with various apps too.

Looks like most people that have had this happen have Verizon/LTE versions. Anyone had this happen with a GSM version? Just curious if it may only be a bug with Verizon's side.
I have a GSM Galaxy Nexus and I've had this problem as well. Only thing that fixes it is a reboot.
I am getting massive delays with alerts on wifi. The only app that does not appear to be affected is facebook messenger. Everything else gives delayed notifications and some like hangouts do not even show any notification until I open the actual app. I do not remember this happening before the last OTA push to jellybean. I have the Verizon VK810 on android 5.0.2. Any suggestions?
Are you on the latest OTA? Try a factory reset?
Interesting, this problem sounds a lot like what was occurring for LG G3 owners on Verizon under certain instances... As I recall it was specific to the router involved and also had something to do with IPV6 however it did not occur for me and therefore I never had to chase the issue...
I have an unlocked HTC 10 that I use on T-Mobile's network here in the U.S. The phone works great, but I notice my 10 has the same issue that the LG V20 and sometimes Sony Xperia phones have...............every like 12-15th MMS (group and/or photo) message I send out to a bunch of ppl will show that it's loading but never go through until I close my texting app (Textra) out, activate it again, and then resend it (no need to reboot fortunately).
My cousin who has the LG V20 also has this issue, and he said other apps like stock and Google Messenger still have the same problem come up too.
Is ANYONE else having this issue? If so, any resolutions?! Don't understand why it's happening cuz the majority of the time it's fine.
Thanks!

Saw my wife having this same issue tonight on her Moto x with Google messenger. Switched to stock messages app and the problem stopped.

I've tried using Stock before on other phones and it usually doesn't help.
Textra (my texting app) sent an update a few days ago with bug fixes included. Since then it hasn't happened. If it does though, I'll try Stock perhaps.
Thanks!

Update: It happened again, so I switched to stock. Was fine for about a week or two, but it JUST happened again. So I'm gonna switch back to Textra. Oh well lol.............
Hi all!
Since upgrading to Nougat, my stock SMS app does not retain recently used emoticons anymore. Small issue, I know, but a bit annoying. They are there immediately after use, but as soon as I switch to another app, they disappear.
Anybody has the same issue?
Cheers!
As this behavior seems to be app-specific, I installed QKSMS and Textra, which don't seem affected. Both great apps, not sure which one I'll keep.
