Hopefully our Huawei watch will get this new update.
After seemingly neglecting the platform for a while, Google today announced a big redesign for Wear OS that promises a wide variety of new features and improvements. Now, we’ve been able to confirm exactly which smartwatches will be getting the update…
this update focuses in primarily on making it easier to access the Assistant, fitness data, and your notifications. Assistant now includes proactive information, Google Fit is just a single swipe away from the watchface, and notifications now appear in a “stream” rather than showing individual cards.
This redesign improves a lot of sore points Wear OS had, so for obvious reasons many users are excited to see this update roll out. Google didn’t initially provide any information on which watches would be getting the update, but we’ve since gotten the official word from big G.
In short, pretty much every Wear OS device is getting updated with this redesign. Google confirmed to us that if a watch was updated to Android Wear 2.0, it will be getting this redesign. That means popular watches including the Mobvoi Ticwatch Pro, Ticwatch E/S, Fossil Q lineup, Huawei Watch/2, and many others will all be updated with this new software.

Even if we will get the new update... it will be in a few months or so.... Wear OS development is so slow....
hoping we do! I purchased this watch a few weeks ago.. I know its an old watch and I could have gotten a newer one that may have been guaranteed more updates.. but I thought this was was the most bang for the buck... crossing fingers we get this update!
after reading the article.. appears we would be getting it..
Who won’t be included? Five smartwatches won’t be getting this update. This includes:
LG G Watch
Samsung Gear Live
Moto 360 (2014)
Sony Smartwatch 3
Asus ZenWatch (v1)
not sure why those watches didn't make the cut...

The guy who wrote this article doesn't know what he's talking about. We've already heard from Google themselves that **any watch running AW2.0 or higher** which includes our HW1 will get the update.

As far as we know, its an app upgrade, not firmware upgrade, meaning all current AW2.0 watches will get it.

October patch from 2017? My HW1 shows AW 2.16, Android 7.1.1 and October 2017 security patch... I'm pretty sure we are not getting the redesign, only the updated AW app, which is basically nothing.

Actually this AW app update brings the redesign. You will see soon.

So, it is a server flag. If you have the latest update you have the new interface...it is just not activated yet.

Love the idea of this thread, especially with the video and I hope others take part in it
Anyways, my oldest *working* device is the EVO 3D.
The device came out in early 2011 so is about 4 years exactly and to me is a special device. Is the device that I started compiling Android from source and is what started #DirtyUnicorns for me.
At the time I was winzipping/porting ROMs on the EVO 4G and had felt that I've done everything I could possibly do on it and was looking for a newer device. A friend and now fellow dev @NYCHitman1 offered to donate his EVO 3D since he was moving on to the GNEX (I think) and I took him on that and loved it!
Started compiling unofficial AOKP builds and digging into source to see how things actually work. Started cherry picking features as users requested on my thread and sooner or later, it got to the point that it was no longer AOKP. Well, at least the AOKP that you compiled from stock. It had a ton of features on top of what AOKP offered and so I renamed it and it took off after that.
People started contributing to my little project and compiling for their devices and fast forward to today and is grown to it's own thing! I love it and is all because of this little device, the EVO 3D
Currently it has KitKat 4.4.4 and it runs fairly well. Only thing that's broke is the 3D camera but that's every AOSP rom for the EVO 3D since lack of source and blobs.
@Mazda
Thanks Alex, that's the ticket:good:
Awesome thread and very unique unfortunately I don't have any old devices anymore. But my oldest and first android was of course G1 from Tmo but the oldest of all was a palm pda. And of course an old...... Motorola with a laptop near it to get activated at the scene. Lol

/me cracks knuckles....
I give you the device that gave birth to this here site.... HTC Wallaby aka O2 XDA
* I purchased my HTC Wallaby in 2003, which makes it 12 years old (I guess it qualifies );
* While I forgot to shoot the build version of the ROM, it is on PocketPC 2002 (can be seen at the beginning of the video);
This phone is a marvel of the golden age of mobility, well before Apple was what we know today as crApple. I bought it while I was studying Engineering. I had owned a few other WinCE mobile devices before that (my first being a HP Jornada 520), but I wanted to have phone and PDA all in one (I had a Toshiba e740 at the time I bought this). Found a good deal on eBay and have had it ever since. That thing has been through thick and thin yet still has a battery that can hold a charge, even if only for a short while and it works flawlessly. Equipped with 32 MB of shared RAM and ROM, an Intel Xscale processor clocked at 200 MHz, BT and a SD card, this was ahead of its time in every sense of the word. It has a lot of our modern, Samsung "innovations" like the stylus and the new clip-on keyboard. It had no on board Wifi and was only GPRS capable, but to this day, it has lasted longer than any phone I have ever had. The device has seen loads of development in here and is the true bed of Linux on a mobile device (look for XANADUX)... A bad OEM update to PPC2003 was what brought me to this site back in '05... 10 years later, and I am still around (have gone up slightly in the hierarchy ever since )
Suddenly, I have the urge of trying to find the cab for Age of Empires 2 for PPC... This thing ran it flawlessly....
Good enough @TonyStark?
I could do another one with my Blue Angel but I guess you cannot really go too further back than this.
@egzthunder1
Excellent and thank you. It will take a major undertaking to find something much older If you do not see any other user post the Blue Angel, please do not hesitate.
Hmmm.... Droid 2...
I still have my original droid 2 and its honestly the worst system I have ever owned and know 7 other people who equally shared the same hate .... You would seriously die before making a call for help...

I have several "smart" devices from my first Palm TX, all the way up to several newer Samsung devices and everything in between. Took me some time to get to the bottom of my electronics bin but I eventually found a good smart phone.
My first "smart" phone was the Blackberry Pearl 8100. It lasted me for about a year when I upgraded to my Palm Pixi and I went crazy from there. The Pearl was the device that first taught me the joys of customizing a device and in a round about way got me into rooting and ROMing. The first thing I did to it was to find a way to get third party apps on it without the presence of an app store. Once I figured that out I then figured out how to customize the color of the Pearl and my love for playing with mobile devices was born.
Even though I retired it from my personal use almost eight years it has been in use almost constantly until a year ago when I got my sister in law to give it back and got her upgraded to a Moto X. I pulled it out today and plugged it in and after about thirty minutes of charging I was able to play Brick Breaker on it for a whole two minutes before the battery died (thank you battery bulge!).

HTC desire wildfire s used for around 5years now also its working properly without any issue using cm10 in it.Runs smooth,5mp camera without any crack.Almost fallen down 100 times from hand. Also works as a backup phone for me.
I have owned 2 old devices, Galaxy S1 just keeping in box as souvenir
Another still using, galaxy tab 7.7 legend, this device beloved by a lot of people so that still have XDA developers update new rom, special is Daniel_hk developer, he did a lot of rom for this device, his Omni rom 5.1.1 on my device now and continue to follow him for Mashmallow 6.0 which just on the way, I lost my account on forum so have registered this new and try to get ten posts soon to meet him at 6M thread
To @daniel_hk :
I have up your mm rom with TWRP 2.8.7.1, it have a problem till step I sign in Google account then it pop-up a lot warning that Google Apps stopped working then restart, this action work in cycle so setting cannot be finished if during settings skip sign in Google account then can finish settings but while get in play store with account then problem happen same, hope you recheck it tks!

Wow... looks how far we have gone. New phone now is as powerful as a full feature computers - looking back 10 years ago.
Working? None, lol
But I remember the myth:
HTC Hero running CM 7 nightly.
Its right now in the bin of used phones. I don't really remember using it though it was my daily driver at the time.
I still have a droid 2. It became a much better phone after rooted and bloatware removed.

Hi. The post I put up earlier shows that Sony can't tell us whether they will update the smartwatch. Could someone find a way to confirm that the watch will be updated so that I could by one
Unfortunately until it's officially confirmed individual emails from various members of customers services are likely to say different things.
Even official posts on Twitter or other social media site still do not guarantee android 2 on the swr50.
It's just a waiting game and fingers crossed...love my watch as it is now and yes aw2 would be nice but I did not buy it with that in mind....
What I also find suspicious is that aw2 is already out in preview mode for other watch phones yet nothing for swr50.
Not a good sign....But enjoy your watch now.
No mention of Sony Smartwatch 3 in list for Wear 2.0.
http://www.theverge.com/2016/12/22/14057656/google-smartwatch-android-wear-2-0-launch
android central also posted the list, no AW2.0 for SW3..

oh well, time to save up for something else and move on. It's been great SW3, but it looks like your time on my wrist is almost at an end. Note to self - you're not buying a watch, you're buying a phone accessory, so expect to replace it as often as your phone.
i think they will manage it somehow, why they would confirm it on twitter, support etc.

On one hand. Getting AW2.0 would be good to keep the device alive. BUT... All or most of the AW2.0 Dev Previews were for ROUND devices and the UI looks to be made around that form factor. And the SWr50 is Square... I think AW1.5 better suits SWr50 more that AW2.0.

Good point. Also, the sources that told you which devices are getting AW2.0 can't confirm anything... They can only go off what information they have. As Sony hasn't given anything, we just have to wait and see. Them not putting the SWr50 on the list is just lack of information for the time being.
I have written to Sony Support a moment ago and i'll see.

No, they added round screen lists, they didn't take square away. Square watches won't have round menus.

Yeah, I think it's best to get in contact with the technical department or something because I guess the people in charge of the commercial aspect (twitter/FB) will probably say something like that " Wait for the notification to appear " even tho they don't know much about current or future firmware developing of android wear.

Exactly
Just to add my thoughts.... The sony z3 had an android 7.0 beta but was never released with sony saying it couldn't because it did not meet googles hardware rules. Specifically support for opengl 3.0 or vulkon. I wonder if its the same for the smartwaches as they will be upgraded to 7.1. I know the sw3 has opengl 2.0 but not sure what each watch on the list has.(Apart from nixon and moto sport have opengl 3.0). Any way if its not that then maybe something similar.
Android wear 2.0
Bonjour
Voici la réponse reçu par Sony France...
I was browsing LinkedIn for more info about the Smartwatch 3 and stumbled across a very interesting point. A former Senior Manager at Sony Mobile mentions in his biography that the Smartwatch 3 was meant to be "Google´s lead device for Android Wear 2.0" (Imgur mirror). So what happened to the update plans?
Edit: Also, here's an interesting report from one of the developers of the Smartwatch 3: https://www.reddit.com/user/sw3_throwaway
Also, please refrain from messaging any current or former Sony Mobile employees. They don't need the harassment and will likely pass anyone on to Sony PR.
The first major Android Wear update added GPS support, and the SSW3 was the lead device for it. It's very likely that he erroneously referred to that release as "Android Wear 2.0". To corroborate this theory: he left Sony in April 2015, and Android Wear 2.0 (the real 2.0) was announced in May 2016, over a year later.
Besides, the idea that the flagship for a new software release would be a device that is over 2 years old and no longer in production is beyond ludicrous.

"WILL update" at some future time after Android 9? Because already there's discrepancies in that statement.

I checked the page you cited and read it in Google translate. This attached screenshot is the closest question and answer to what you're talking about, but it doesn't say what you say.
LG says they're working on development to try to sync new LG UX installation with OS releases -- maybe even install in advance if the OS update -- but doesn't specifically promise that for phones updating to Android 9.
Unless that was something stated verbally but not posted on that blog page, or if there's something lost in translation?
For instance I don't see the list of phones you have. On that page -- unless I'm missing something -- all I see are refences to LG V40 and V50.
The blogger won an LG V50 at that conference.

You can plug that url into translate.google.com and read it in English. Everything in the pictures seems to also be to be typed out in the blog.

these are the answers from conference participant
"1. LG V30 Pie OS will be released in second quarter of 2019 based on Korean model.
2. The firmware update session explained that V40 onwards, including LG V30 Pie, are 'LG UX 8.0' applied.
3. V30 Oreo firmware V21s has been deployed as of today (17th). This is the Korean market firmware with some bug patches with Google security patches.
4. Currently, it is confirmed that the Pie OS of the V30 Korean model is under development of V28a. We have an update plan within the second quarter, but we can't be sure because we have an inspection process for mobile carriers in the Korean market.
5. The new LG UX is under development and is expected to be available soon. Many developers and others were thinking about changing LG UX. I hope many foreign fans love LG Mobile."
and after that question i asked about that g7, v35 didn't get latest ux and answer was,
"By the time G7 and V35 pie OS were developed, LG UX 8.0 was not fully developed. The application of UX 8.0 to the LG V40 ThinQ was also made possible by the continuous push of the SW Upgrade Center Director. So LG UX 8.0 will be applied to V30 Q9 (G7 Fit) Pie OS and others in the future.
- Answer during firmware update session"
that is all.

Not sure if I'm looking forward to this. Does UX 8.0 keep the old theme engine? The only thing Pie has is Private DNS. Everything else is just gimmick that you can add with Magisk already.

I can only tell you the (few) things i noticed on the V40
Dual App support for certain messengers (im sure that list is modable xD)
Fingerprint Gesture support (our Fingerprint sensor should support it too, theoretically, as its the same as in the pixel 2 (xl) to my knowledge)
And yeah, the usual pie stuff (rounded corners, navigation "gesture" (same as AOSP), and so on)
Any update news?
OnePlus’ OxygenOS is going away – and so is Oppo’s ColorOS. The code bases for the two will be joined together to create a unified operating system (which will probably have a catchy name, but that hasn’t been announced yet).

I can't find a definitive answer yet, but will the new OS be applied to current oneplus models or just new 2022 phones onwards?

It will launch on Oneplus10 model and then it will be applied to all previous supported devices (still receiving updates) when they have a version of Android 13 ready. So either very late 2022 or 2023 before older devices see this unified OS.
I think a LOT of people will make rash, early comments before they even know what the unified OS ends up being. Oneplus CEO (Pete Lau) said "OnePlus has a unique group of users, therefore we will customize the unified OS specifically for OnePlus devices to make sure it meets your expectations, for example by keeping it as clean and lightweight as before, and continuing to support unlock bootloaders." Considering those of us in the states only have 2 choices for manufacturers with unlocked bootloaders, I'm fine with all this. If I don't like their new unified OS guess what? I can replace it.

A copy/paste from Android Authority:
Next OnePlus flagship will be the first to come with a new unified OS that merges Color OS and Oxygen OS.
OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 8 series will also get the integrated operating system.
Older OnePlus phones will continue getting their promised Oxygen OS updates.

Thanks. I've also seen it where it's being said that the OnePlus 9 series is to get it before the end of this year, so I'd just like to hear something definitive.
I understood that we won't get it this year, but only after the next flagship, at some point in Q2.
This was also announced on the OnePlus blog by Pete Lau:

I agree people will be quick to judge before the final product and am happy they will remain committed to unlocked bootloader's. But there are 3 OEMs in the US market for that, since I presume 2nd you're thinking is Google, and 3rd would be Motorola actually. They make you go through additional steps but I've unlocked a Moto G Power 2021 easily and am under the impression they're all similar (though you need an unlock key not dissimilar to carrier OnePlus devices, though easier to obtain)

True, Motorola can't seem to decide what their stance is on bootloaders. I haven't looked into them in a while since they stopped trying to compete in the flagship market for a few years (I know they're returning). I used to love their devices though. Had the og Moto Droid 1 and tinkered with a few others. Also miss HTC devices of old. I would also like to see how willing they are to support a previously unlocked bootloader phone. Oneplus and Google don't seem to care too much unless you really did something crazy. Also....I try to stay away from carrier versions. US carriers are one of the things really holding us back.

Color + Oxygen = CO2
Well, internal name is "OplusOS" (found in Nord 2) but they continue to use OxygenOS

Agreed, I bought a carrier OP9 originally and realized I'd have to wait to pay off + 2 weeks to get bootloader unlocked so I returned and bought unlocked on a credit card w/ similar financing terms. Plus I wanted the green which T-Mobile didn't sell.
Motorola does unfortunately take a hard stance on "this voids your warranty" and require your SN to unlock the bl so no way around the warranty. As much as US carriers suck, they are the easiest way people can afford flagship phones, but it's not like every American needs one, we are sorely lacking good mid-range options, and it's most definitely their fault with their pricing structure and marketing tactics pushing customers to either the lowest- or highest-tier phones

They already did that with OOS and HOS. The merge made it worse and caused the data leaks. The merge pretty much killed of any remnant of Parandroid code.
Color Oxygen or Oxygen Colors
Oxygen was better...
Color OS was verry clean an slim Os when i test/use it on a HTC phone if i'm not wrong...
If the new merger brings the restrictiveness that Oppo implements, then i will be leaving OnePlus sharpish. By restrictiveness i mean the inability to unlock the bootloader and root etc....

The CEO directly said the bootloader would remain unlockable and has even been mentioned several times in this thread above.
Surprised no one's said Cologen (collagen) yet.
Coxy Lorgen.
It's 2am and I'm delirious.
Honestly, I'm indifferent. Don't know much about ColorOS to begin with. Haven't been super impressed with OOS as of late. As another said, kudos to the team for keeping the bootloader unlocked so we can flash something else.
