Hi All,
tried searching the threads on ICS upgrade with bluetooth and Blue&Me but unfortunately couldn't find much so thought of writing.
I have upgraded to the official sony ICS ROM via PC Companion on my Arc (LT15i).... done a repair... and set it up exactly the way i want to. must say that i loved it and am quite happy with the performance of the phone as well... there's the occasional lag but it isn't too bad as yet.
Now to my problem (and a few other queries)
1) Bluetooth: Has anybody had any success in pairing the bluetooth with another bluetooth device... preferably a car bluetooth system? I had it working perfectly on the GB (.62) ROM and could use the phone via my Fiat Linea's Blue&Me feature. Now i just can'[t pair it.... when i search for devices it does show Blue&Me but when i try to pair it all i get is that wait cursor kinda thing and then back to search devices screen. it just doesn't pair and give me the option to enter the passcode generated by Blue&Me.
2) Has anyone faced any issues in editing contacts which are synched to Google? Thankfully the HD Pics now work as google sync is not resizing them but in some contacts when i try to edit it the screen simply scrolls back to the top. these are linked contacts (Gmail... Facebook... Facebook inside Xperia.... Whatsapp).
thank you very much in advance for any help that the gurus on this forum can give. I'd especially like to get the bluetooth working as i can live with the contacts editing issue!
thanks, Maverick

Same problem to me(alfa romeo mito with blue&me).
I 've tried everithing, but there is no solution, i think is a compatibility problem:i hope fiat(microsoft) make an update for his system..

I had a few issues connecting to my Ford when I was on 4.0.3.
It seems to work ok for me when I initiate the pairing from my car stereo. Then my phone will display the "bluetooth device wants to connect" and allow me to enter the code.
i have exactly the same problem
after updating to ICS on my xperia mini pro i cannot pair to fiat blue and me :-(
anyone has ideia on what can we do?
do u think its ICS or microsoft blue and me problem?

Hello
the phone "sees" the blue and me and try do pairs...but no popup asking for the pin appears...i wonder if there is any way to force the phone to ask the pin given my blue and me:-(
I think the problem is with Blue&Me... I've a Parrot and a Chinese GPS integrated in the other Car, and no problem with both of them.
Try to remove the asociation from the Car and then try to pair again. Maybe the Blue&Me assumes the device is the same and the protocol may be different.
In case it doesn't work this way, maybe you need an update from Fiat.

Thanks, i will try this tomorrow and update with my results.
getting something from Fiat is probably never going to happen.... they can't get those teeny weenie yet important spare parts for the car available when you need them most so i doubt they are going to do a B&M upgrade [Country: India]
I had issues at first with my ford but it seems if I initiate pairing from my car stereo, it works fine
Same issue on Subaru forster
have the same issue on Subaru after updating to ICE, the Xperia ARC identify the car media, but it fails (and no pin enter screen)
This is not happening in GB so I guess it is an ICE issue.
Anyone have news on it? or maybe some ROM do support BT?

same problem on mercedes and LT18i (xperia ray) It won't ask the pin. Sometimes I see it connected for less than a second.
I don't have the possibility to connect from car radio, it has te be connected via the phone.
Time to get a laptop to the car and chech with adb logcat

found this whist searching online.
The Workaround:
1) Turn on bluetooth on your smartphone and open a contact card.
2) Start the pairing of hands-free of the car.
3) When the blue & me asks for the code, send the contact via Bluetooth: The phone searches for other devices. Selecting "Blue & Me", you have the opportunity to enter the code presented on the dashboard.
4) Now Blue & Me will ask you to copy the address book: Select "Yes".
5) In the notification bar of smartphone is prompted to connect bluetooth: select "do not ask for more" and accept the request.

Incorrect. Bluetooth is backwards compatible.
Wunderle, you'll need to post a lot more info than that if you want help troubleshooting. E.g., what kind device(s) are you trying to connect, do they connect to other Bluetooth devices, what steps have you tried, what errors are you getting...

I had zero problems with pairing to My Ford Touch in my Focus. There are some messages to pay attention to (mostly permissions) and an option to add the 10 as a trusted device.
In the past I also discovered that not allowing automatic phonebook downloads (this is in the MFT menu) helped with the Blue Tooth audio not stuttering.

Both the device and Sync can see each other but it doesn't matter whether I initiate it from the device or car it won't pair. Sync doesn't come up with the pin prompt it just sits there.
Perhaps I'll try a sync master reset if you got it working ok. I thought it might have been a compatibility issue with a new bluetooth radio stack on the htc 10.
If that fails I'll have to bug my dealer about updating my cars software.

I tried a Sync master reset twice and rebooted my 10. It's not having any of it.
I tried it in my mum's 2012 Focus and it paired with Sync first time no issues.
Guess I'll be taking my car back to Ford and hope they can fix it with a software update.

Make sure you remove (unpair) sync from your phone & restart it before trying to repair it to sync after the master reset. I also had no problems pairing my 10 to MyFord Touch.
Some cars won't pair unless you're in park also, so make sure you finish pairing it before driving.

Bummer. Yeah, see about a Sync software update. Before you make an appt, you can go to the Ford site and follow the instructions on determining if you need an update (sync my ride, I think it is).
My Ford Touch is running 3.6.2; however, 3.8 is now available. Good luck. Definitely sounds the the issue is your vehicle's software.

I've already applied the October update which seems to be the latest an end user can load manually.
I'm going to try pulling the fuse to force a hard reboot to see if that fixes it. Otherwise it'll be going back to the dealer to see if they can fix it.
I can't understand why my mum's Focus worked on 4 year old software but mine didn't on 6 month old software though. Just computers being fickle I guess.
Sent from my HTC 10 using XDA Labs
Fuse didn't make any difference either.
So took it in to Ford this morning, tech comes out and guess what. Pairs first time, haha.
Only thing he did different was have the ignition on (rather than just turning sync on manually in accessory mode).
Stupid computers! Lol.
Fix
I have a possible fix.
My issue was I couldn't pair my HTC 10 with my ford territory 2012 Bluetooth. My phone detected it but it would read "pairing failed" on my car dash screen.
You need to download two apps:
- BlueScan
- BT direct
Use bluescan to identify the car Bluetooth address (a string of letters and numbers)
Then, using BT direct, enter the address manually and hit pair
This worked for me.
Hope it helps
SOLVED. Thanks to Fir3start3r.

Hello all,
I updated my Android to Nougat over the air on previously fresh installed Android Marshmallow. Everything seems ok, but now I can't pair my phone with my car over bluetooth. A few weeks ago, I tested Android N DP5, and it was the same issue. At that time, I thought that the issue was related to beta version, but now it's official.
Everything worked like charm before on Marshmallow. The error message that I get is "Can't communicate with Hands Free System". The car says "Pairing failed".
Just to clarify, the car is Mitsubishi Spacestar 2014, and before pairing, I wiped the phone from car's Hands Free System, so it's clean/new pairing.
Does anyone experiencing this? Is there any fix?
Thank you.

I don't know about specifics in bluetooth devices such as your Mitsubishi. But I can tell you my bluetooth connects to my stereo fine in my 2012 Jeep Patriot. I haven't updated to the final release but I'm currently on preview 5. So I don't think it's an issue with bluetooth in Nougat.
I had some issues on the last preview. For me it would disconnect after being connected for maybe 5 min or so. That was with a JVC BT adapter (older aftermarket headunit) and in a Ford with sync (V1) Haven't tested on the new build though. Going back to 6.0.1 resolved all of those issues at the time. I flashed the ota last night and still need to see if it improved anything for me.

Every time i flash my phone with a major update change or wipe it, i have to delete the current BT profile in the car, as I do not alter the name. That resolves it for me 7.0 syncs just fine on my car
Can anyone help me in getting the vendor image for official nougat build?
Thanks in advance!
I have same issue as OP with a 2nd gen Toyota Prius. Resetting the car's Bluetooth settings hasn't helped, as suggested by others in the thread.
I tried everything and I also wiped my phone. I believe that the issue is Nougat OS because it did sync before on Marshmallow.

OK so the car is at least 7 years old, so does the car have any profile settings, where it associates your phones BT MAC address with a name of some kind where you can see and choose them. I know some cars can do that, even some older ones. If so does it still show as I do not know if there is a difference between doing a BT reset and deleting profiles?
I can attest that 7.0 works with BT streaming, connecting, etc...

It allows you to delete registered phones and "Reset settings to default". I think those settings might just be Bluetooth name and PIN though, but that's what I tried

I wonder if something in the upgrade process fouled it up per chance.
What OS version did you come from and how did you arrive at 7.0?

Anyone have any luck on a JVC stereo? It keeps saying wrong code. Idk how to reset it
Mine connects fine to my car stereo but with Play Music it starts playing through the speaker phone after a song completes. I have to pause and resume for it to start playing through the car stereo again. Really obnoxious. Other than that, I'm really enjoying Nougat (besides the terrible name).
So, Bluetooth works well with all alter devices but does not recognise my car Bluetooth. I have not had any issues so far testing from all possible android phones to Nokia and iPhone. I have a 2010 C class. Any suggestions? The car says that no devices has been found when trying to pair. Thanks
Same exact problem here with an Audi A1. I contacted support, but they only suggested things I had already tried (like factory reset etc). I'm going to try and get a log to them at some point this week.
Are you on the latest OTA? That's when the problems started happening for me - it was working fine before that.

Have you tried turning off HD audio in the device settings?
When the device is connected, go to Bluetooth and select the cog next to the device. Uncheck HD audio.
