SM-G960F Exynos Camera Not Working After Root - Samsung Galaxy S9 Questions & Answers

So I recently rooted my s9 using the root method seen here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g3IppGISkP0. I was able to successfully root the phone although there was an issue with the phone freezing I was able to fix it by using a custom kernel. Now everything works just fine except the camera. Every time I open the camera app it says "Camera Failed." Ive tried installing roms but it still fails. The only way I can get the camera to work again is to reinstall the stock firmware through odin which gets rid of root. Essentially I am unable to use the camera if I root. Does anyone have this issue and if so is there any solution?

[Q] Rooting after the new update(10m)

I haven't seen a clear answer on this, so does anybody know what root methods still work after the new update? If they all still do, is there anything I should do differently in the rooting process?
You have to wait till one of the methods gets an upgrade
BAD ASS G3
Well seeing as how the d851 boot loader is shipping unlocked from T-Mobile I think it would be pretty safe to say that once you manage to properly install the 10m OTA, you would simply flash TWRP from purpledrake in fastboot and from there flash supersu.

I used Stump root and mine is rooted again. I had to use the brute force root to get it done in Stump. After that I installed SuperU, TWRP and Busy Box.

Purpledrake probably replaced the M boot.img with the C boot.img. If it did that means your back on the C kernel and if it didn't you no longer have the modded disabled root checker.

If you don't mind me asking, how did you flash the TWRP? with TWRP manager from the Playstore? did you pick your phone trough the menu or did you downloaded the img. file ? I'm rooted with the new update but I want to flash TWRP, thanks

Is it also easy to unroot?
Thanks mate
Stump root (like cliff said) or towelroot.
Towelroot may not work on all models though. It did work on my D850 with firmware 10D.

Well, this is untethered root, so it doesn't have a root app, so I recommend installing supersu from the play store, and supersu has an option to unroot, but there is always the option to just flash back to stock using a tot file or kdz file and LG flash tool

Does flashing kdz file removes the root flag?? Also if I will "unlock bootloader" (TWRP/bump whatever...) is installing kdz file will make it all stock and undetectable?

Software Update

anyone else get the prompt to update the software? are you going to update?
Got it and did it 2 days ago
Same and same
probably too early to know, does anyone know if this update will affect root? coming from htc, i remember updates were frowned upon as they can make rooting more difficult.

below is the link I used. The battery drain is bad but manageable. I think it puts the wrong recovery on the phone, but it does root the phone. I was able to use titanium again :highfive:

There's a search function for a reason and the devs on here don't have time to just hold your hand and walk you through everything you have to be willing to help yourself and learn how to do things on your own and then if you have a problem or run into trouble then ask for assistance but don't ask to have your hand held through it all.. Learn about what Odin is and stock roms And a few other things in order to accomplish a downgrade..

The search function doesn't tell me what you tried to do.. I already wrote a tutorial on how to downgrade successfully. Since I don't know what you've tried so far there's nothing I can do right now to help you.

Here you go.. Make sure you substitute the Verizon firmware for the AT&T firmware as @TechNyne66 said, the OGG firmware.. As long as it's firmware from AT&T you should be good to go.. However if it still errors out and doesn't work that means they (AT&T) have blocked it and you'll have to enter into recovery and select full system restore in order to fix it and get it back to where it is right now.. I'd first make a backup if I were you!!

Use PB2 ODIN file. It's the best 5.1.1 firmware.
I did it using only ap and csc files

does anyone have the PB2 STOCK FIRMWARE available for download?

If you are past the the PH4 update this is not the thread for you.
If you are still on PH4, stop trying to downgrade your bootloader, unless you are flashing a Binary 3 bootloader.
All of this has been explained within this forum. Check my profile and go to my posts. I've already wrote it all up two or three times...

Rooting Question

I recently got this phone and will root the phone soon. Rooting guides say I need unlocked bootloader for root. I haven't found a guide how to do this, where can I find reference?
Also I will probably go for stock rooted. For those who have custom roms, is there any particular reason you went with the rom?
Thank you.
