Have anyone tried the port of the google camera yet?
I installed on latest LOS and did not work.... Please share the rom version if this apk happens to work for you.
Thanks!
Google camera need api 2, i don't think it gonna work without some massive hacking
Even it's not working with Stock Nougat ZUI also?
Same results here, ViperOS, bummer that maybe it will never work on this device
even with version 4.2 it didn't work, but its works on my redmi 4x with version 4.2
Works with my Oneplus 3 but not zuk z2 with aexo 4.4
Only RR5.8.3 has support for camera API 2
Latest Indian ZUI, didn't work. Perhaps in a future update

report, stoped on rr 583 20170710, with magisk instaled
Aex 4.5 is a no go. Doesn't even open viewfinder. I've tried adding the API line to the build prop, still no success!
Possible to enable Camera2 API?
So there is a new thread on XDA:
https://www.xda-developers.com/camera2api-magisk-module-enables/
A magisk module to enable Camera2 API. However, it may not work if the camera blobs in the ROM does not support Camera2 API.
There are apps called Camera2 Probe on the play store that can detect if camera2 API is enabled or supported on a device. People can use it to check if its supported on Lenovo Z2 Plus. I tried it on my stock version, and it is not supported.
Maybe the magisk modules will enable it in the custom ROMs.

The Magisk module only changes 1 line in the build prop and no it Doesn't work on AICP I tried doing the same thing by editing the build.prop
Also I have made a petition on change.org for ZUK To implement proper API 2 and HAL3 Support
Somebody filed a petion and It worked with Sony but we'd will need a lot of signatures for anyone to take notice.

Expecting the company to do anything especially for a phone, that flopped in its major markets is pointless.
According to the Camera2 API probe apps, by default there is no support for HAL3 in Z2. I am unsure if this is a hardware level feature or a software.
If it indeed is software based then the only option is to change the default camera blobs to ones that support HAL3/camera2 from some other phone maybe...
camera 2 API Required by Google camera to work.
Need rom that support camera to API. Means baked into code.
Unless someone(or lenovo) write new camera drivers, hdr+ never gonna work for our device. Even tho i'm pretty sure we can make google camera 4.4 work, because only hdr+ need api 2. Google camera 4.1 works well for me btw.

There is no API2 hardware support in the camera blobs in the kernel even with the recent update for the aforementioned camera blobs.

Yes, because lenovo didn't code any support for api2. Or maybe sensor doesn't support api2 at all=(
The developer who ported the app said it should work on all devices with 820. I tried on RR latest build and it crashes. I also tried Oneplus camera app, but it crashes too.

I tried flashing zip through both magisk and twrp but it's not enabling api2, it's still saying "persist.camera.HAL3.enabled [0]".

Type "getprop | grep camera" in terminal.
I found a strange thing here, "camera.disable_zs1_mode [1]". Will anybody tell me what this is, and if it has anything to do with gcam4.4 HDR+

Hi bro .zsl is zero shutter lag . since z2 holds a Samsung sensor it comes with ZSL mode . Fortunately CamAPI2 is not a hardware limitation, but I am pretty sure ZUK will never going to release it. It require lots of resources, they had to change the whole architecture on ROM. I though they give it in Nougat, but they didn't included it. And they are not going to release any other update.
Forget about Gcam HDR+ it is never going to happen.
App atleast didnt crash
Version 5.1 or something port for the nexus with zsl
Started and didnt crash but was unable to access the camera
Atleast it didn't crash like other ports
I am using aicp rom august release
is there any version of Google camera compatible with Swift 2 no root?
urikill google camera is the most compatible version i have tried.
However photosphere and panorama require gyroscope which swift doesnt have.. I tried gyroemu and virtualsensors xposed modules, but they both give poor results for gyroscope emulation

Does it require a custom ROM? i tried it on stock Oreo and it's not working. I tried almost every modded gcam I found online and they simply don't work on swift 2(x)

Yes I have this problem too!!!
And, even if my cam2api is enabled, evry gcam version I tried, the ones with night sight specially, v6, are giving me force crash on front cam!
Could be lack of rooting? I enabled cam2api by unlocking the bootloader only, without rooting my phone.
V5s of gcam are working, not fully, still problems with front cam not capturing anything, but no night sight.
Howdy all,
I just got myself a new Moto g7 Play,
and I was wondering if there is an .APK compatible to run Google Cam App (GCam) on this device?
Thanks
BSG mod works
The bsg mod from the first pixel, the 32 bits apk, works on my g7 play. I unlocked bootloader, rooted it with magisk, installed camera 2 api and added the Hal3 line in prop file and everything seems to work, including camera 2 api in apps like open camera. Keep in mind that latest gcams are 64 bits, so I think they do not work properly (I tried several apks and mods)
Is there a way to run GCam without rooting? The official instructions say that one just needs to install the .apk. Rooting isn't mentioned.
Honestly I don't know. I rooted my device before thinking about using gcam actually :/
Also, most stuff talking about using gcam in other devices besides pixel ones talk about rooting and getting camera 2 api.
But I think you can try to install it without root though
You could try one of the older gcam mod apks that did support 32bit but the newer ones that only use 64 bit cant be used and most the modded ones now also need to be on 64bit
After the Android 10 update, Gcam is no longer working.
How to fix it.
Mi A2 Lite
Have you checked if camera2 is working?
You must add persist.camera.HAL3.enabled=1 to build.prop in /system, that's what's missing.
Flash the attached zip in TWRP.
Hey! Is there a GCam with working front camera for Stock Android 10?
The ones I tried previously worked on custom ROMs but now all of them crash or not taking pictures.

Hdr was working on front as well on custom rom, I was talking about the fact that I was unable to take picture or gcam crash when I tried (even when hdr was disabled). Guess I messed up the cam2api enabling somehow. Anyways fixed since.
