Yes I have this problem too!!!
And, even if my cam2api is enabled, evry gcam version I tried, the ones with night sight specially, v6, are giving me force crash on front cam!
Could be lack of rooting? I enabled cam2api by unlocking the bootloader only, without rooting my phone.
V5s of gcam are working, not fully, still problems with front cam not capturing anything, but no night sight.

Hi everybody,
I have experienced a time of this google camera port and found it quite stable, no crash.
And I decided to share it with everyone
It runs fine on Lineages, Mokee, AOSP Rom and MIUI
Note: ** Your phone has root and activate camera2api.zip file here

Any recommendation for gcam apk without need for a root? Thanks.

In order to use the excellent Google Camera features ( HDR+ and etc.) you need to have Camera2 API Enabled, to do that you need root.
Otherwise you can just install some basic google camera with sub-optimal performance.
Does front camera HDR+ and portrait mode work?
I remember my Redmi 5 plus worked in portrait mode but no front cam HDR+
But now my phone is bricked, so I can't test it

Noup, i tried every GCam apk under the sun. No luck.
I can live with that but main reason i keep my stock camera around is because the front flash doesn't work on GCam...

yes, but you should turn off hdr mode in portrait mode
There are 2 versions here. If you use the first version, you will use the portrait mode normally. If you use the second version, during use you must turn off the hdr mode in portrait mode
I just checked it thoroughly. The first version is compatible with all roms. The second version is compatible with MIUI
I have no idea why, but Arnova V2 crashes a lot. I'm using latest EU stable rom.

Wrong. No root needed, just setprop hal3 = 1 in twrp adb shell Mode. Using gcam without root here, miui eu 9.5.4.0

GCamera_Mod_v.5.1.23_R5Plus_fix_crash - I use it for Front Camera | Everything works, requires good config, flash works, no night-sight.
GoogleCamera_5.2.025-Final_fu24-18 - I use It for certain conditions not always so It's not recommended but It's ok to have it!!
MGC_6.1.021_BSG_Arnova-based_v.1.4a_TlnNeun - It's the best GCAM for Vince, Night Sight, HDR+ Enhanced, Portrait on People,
Requires Good Config, has 5 Libraries in order from Google to Xtreme!

If you really want to use hal3 you need to
1)delete /system/lib/hw/camera.msm8937.so
2)rename camera.vendor.msm8937.so to camera.msm8937.so
3)then enable hal3 in build prop
4)Reboot
Enjoy ?

Camera2Api = HAL3
You can enable it by editing /sytem/build.prop and adding the following line
persist.camera.HAL3.enabled=1

LOS 15.1 is arm only, I think newer versions with lastest features of gcam will not work.
Colour blinking is always there if HDR is on. With a portrait mode it never disappears

Hi there, THANK YOU SO MUCH !!!
Everything working, without any lag, and the green tint has gone !
Except slowmotion, results in forced close.

KEEP ON GOING, GREAT WORK !

yes, but...autofocus in low light doesn't work at 100%. but manual focus seems to work fine. it's much better than it was in previous versions, but the speed and quality of focus is still lagging behind stock camera. but with good focus, the quality of the photo is very good (night mode a huge difference).

only cam2api enable is needed. I have no root or twrp...for installation it is necessary to remove the previous version. but I noticed another problem - main camera doesn't work without hdr features (hdr, hdr+) don't capture any picture.

UPDATE: after uninstalling Gcam mod 6.2.024 i was able to successfully install this gcam which is 6.2.030. focus works way more reliably than the previous build. front camera is broken, rear camera doesnt work when hdr+ is disabled, hdr+ works but the highlights tend to get blown out, hdr+ enhanced works great, night sight appears to work. slow motion works on 1/8 speed but not 1/4. overall customization of this por is good but not as advanced as other ports out there. you cant select how many still hdr takes but you can select low medium high....
overall focus is fixed and im happy, i which normal hdr+ could be more customizable. ill be tweaking the settings and see what else works and doesn't work.
Hi! Thanks for your work. I notice selfie is not working for me
After the Android 10 update, Gcam is no longer working.
How to fix it.
Mi A2 Lite
Have you checked if camera2 is working?
You must add persist.camera.HAL3.enabled=1 to build.prop in /system, that's what's missing.
Flash the attached zip in TWRP.

The ones I tried previously worked on custom ROMs but now all of them crash or not taking pictures.

Hdr was working on front as well on custom rom, I was talking about the fact that I was unable to take picture or gcam crash when I tried (even when hdr was disabled). Guess I messed up the cam2api enabling somehow. Anyways fixed since.
