Need help downgrading from Pie - Google Pixel XL Questions & Answers

Updated my Pixel XL to Pie last week and the battery life is completely horrible. I reinstalled Greenify and it got a little better but nowhere near as good as with Oreo. i need to have the battery life i was getting with Oreo for my job. I tried to sideload the update file to go back to Oreo but about 45% thru it said something along the lines of "the OS you have installed currently is newer than the one you are trying to install" and the process stopped.
I cant figure out how to downgrade other than that and it wont let me because newer OS is installed. I cant find a download on googles OTA site that has the flashall.bat file. they are all Payload files. can anyone link me to an OTA with the flashall.bat or any other ways i can go back to Oreo? I dont really want to lose any data so i plan to remove the -w when doing the flashall.bat.
thanks for any and all help

Thanks jurington but I'm not finding any files on there with the flashall.bat. Only thing I'm able to find on there is files with payload files which I've never messed with

You need to unzip it, every factory image has flash-all.bat inside the zip.

Unzip the payload file? I found a program that unpacked them but no .bat that I see. It's got all the image files but no recovery.I'm and another one can't recall. But never seen a .bat file in there at all

I'm really not sure what you mean by payload file, I download the zip from Google, use WinRAR to extract the files and flash-all.bat is in there. I'm on Windows though if that's where the problem lies?

Where do you got that from ?
Maybe it's better to start with a KDZ and extract it if you want to mess with it.

Hi, @mahdi72. It usually takes one to two weeks after the initial release for the TAR file to be available. I grab it off of SAMMOBILE or Samsung-Firmware and then upload it to Android File Host, which is much faster.
If you find it before me, let me know and I'll make it available for the developers and community.
Hurrah I am installing now! 10ish days before the S8 comes out. I will enjoy these last 10 days with my S6. Hopefully this update will magically improve a 2 year old battery.
I pulled the OTA file from my phone ...via...waiting for it to download which took a fewminutes on WiFI ...then pushing later...and rooted my phone..then booted back using Root Explorer to find it under the Samsung device called Fota...and their was something called Update.Zip that was about 1.04GB...so it cant bea corrupted download or anything and when i copy it over... to my phones storage back to my pc...it says unexpected end of archive? and all i see is MetaINF but the Zip Repair saw more files in it and I'm not sure what to do from here..?

What were you trying to do? Were you trying to make an Odin-flashable TAR file from your OTA? It doesn't work that way.
Restore your phone to stock, take the OTA that way. An OTA needs you to be running stock and stock recovery. That will get you to Nougat. You should be able to root then.
The TAR file will be available in one to two weeks. You should be aware that the TAR files are generally 1.7 GB, larger than the OTA.
Ohhhh!!

Well, I am a fresh n00b android person and I was thinking maybe I could help provide a Tar File from an OTA I Could pull from my phone lol.
I restored my phone back to stock and will install the New Firmware, I was just afraid that If I do that and I'm not liking it that I won't be able to odin back to Marshmellow But I'm willing to take the chances, as far as rooting and all would you be able to provide me the links? or forums for this version? all i really like on my specific phone is stock with an audio mod and nothing else installed lol x)

You must wait for zip/tar file for download and flash via odin, or you can flash stock 6.0.1 ,and update via settings-->system update

Like other guys said, you can't update straight to Nougat from big daddy's until the tar file is released, but if you can't wait, then do the following:
Find Koop's thread and install the latest available stock thru Odin. Then update to Nougat thru system update like everyone on stock. Then you can reroot (there's a thread for that too).
Normally this process does not wipe data or media, but of course you need to backup everything just in case. And you might find you need to wipe data anyway for some system stuff to work right. Especially if you installed big daddy's Grace UX stuff. That has some funky system apps from other devices.
I'm about to go thru this exact process, so wish me luck.
(Sorry for not providing links to those threads, but I'm on mobile. They're not hard to find anyway.)

That should be what you need, I came from a test build for Nash and used the FlashAll zip (RET specifically) from that site to take me all the way back to stock., Hence why each zip is ~3GB uncompressed.

There should be a NON_HLOS.bin in that folder, if im not mistaken a fastboot command posted here should fix that, but i should mention that i have not done this myself and can not vouch for it. maybe someone else has a more (for a lack of a better word) trusted way to fix your issue

I'm having the same issue. I've downloaded every 2+gb zipped XT1789-04 factory reset zip I can get my hands on. It says it's flashing a modem, but I still get no baseband when I go into fastboot. no wifi or cell signal. I've tried the commands linked above after flashing. If someone has a solution I'd be eternally grateful.

Thanks but NO GO .
I ran into this problem attempting to root the latest Oreo OCX27.1 and got into a bootloop. The only Oreo firmware available to download isis the previous OCX27 and I believe that downgrading to that causes the lost of baseband and imei. I am waiting to see when OCX27.1 will be available to download so I can try to return to stock to 27.1 see if it restores my baseband
The problem i am seeing is that none of the stock firmware are for ocx27.1. they are all for ocx27. i have seen an ota update that is for the ocx27.1 but i have not figured out how to extract it yet

OnePlus 7T stock boot image

Hi there.
I bricked my 7T and I'm now looking for a stock boot image to flash to my phone in order to make it work again. I've looked for it in OnePlus' software update file from their website, but I didn't find it there.
I have the European verison, 10.0.11 HD65BA was my last version. Does anyone have the stock boot image for that version please?
Thanks in advance.

You will need to extract the payload.bin file first.
Than take the payload dumper and get the boot.img.

Question how to extract boot image for OOS F.15 update?

Hi
Can anyone provide me the boot image for OOS F.15 update.
these updates are just problem sometimes. is there an easy method to find or extract the boot image as most of the roms are not not available online.
I have tried using oxygen updater and payload dumper and various other methods but to no avail. I am unable to extract boot.img.
Is there any other method for the same or can anyone provide me with the boot image.

Thank you once again.
may i ask how does one go about extracting the boot.img from bin file.
The easiest way is to use fastboot enhance tool for windows. It allows to extract any partititon from Full OTA update (it is usually about 4-6Gb). Note that it doesn't support incremental OTA.
Thank you i am looking forward to using fastboot enhance.
I have used the tool and it works great wonderful windows based simple app.
