As zenfone 5z was launched in june.its a very popular device around the world bcz of its price and killer specifications.why there are twrp or gsi roms are not available for this phone.?
Developers should take this device seriously as many people around the world owns it and it is very popular.
I mean the Zenfone 5 itself came out in June. The 5z in july, and the 5z in North America should be released today.

I would like to buy a mid-range Android phone and I've seen a lot of phones online, I've read a lot of reviews, occasionally I even checked out some of them personally. Now, I'm stuck between these two and I don't know which one to choose. Of course, both will have their good points, as well as bad points, but I don't know which one should be the winner. Which one do you think I should choose?
i think the contender for zenfone 2 is Meizu M1 note.
for me i'd rather choose z2 than meizu m1 note or mx4.
coz asus releases kernel source code for their device unlike meizu.
PS: sorry for my bad english
Since the community behind the Zenfone 2 models is pretty big even though it was an X86 device, I wonder if there will be Lineage OS support for the Zenfone 3 models. I'm asking because I want to switch my Zenfone2 for a Zenfone3 but I don't like the ASUS stock ROM.

Asus started pushing official Oreo to the Zenfone 3 a day or 2 ago. I have the 3 Deluxe (ZS550KL) and it doesn't look like any of the Deluxe variants have it yet. Hope it's coming soon.

Yep. ZS570KL owner checking in. Been checking incessantly because I really wanted to get my hands on Oreo and ZenUI 4.0! Saw the news that Zenfone 3 had gotten the update, checked the update page on the Asus website to find there was only a minor update waiting for me, released a little bit before Zenfone 3 owners got Oreo.

If their update history is anything to go by, the ZE55(0/2)KL models have been updated rather frequently, whereas the deluxe models have received updates a little bit more spaced out. At best, I see the update for the ZS550KL coming in within 2 weeks, and the ZS570KL coming in within two weeks after that. Hopefully the wait isn't too long!
A bit disappointed with the updates for this phone...
Was good for a few months then nothing...
This was supposed to be their flagship device, other models come out and it is forgotten.
If they didn't wish to actually support it then they should've released the unlock app sooner and then we may have had a little love from developers...
Got an update the other day, they were supposed to be developing Oreo for this device and releasing it soon, update comes through and it's still Nougat...
Learnt my lesson well, Had both the Zenfone 2 deluxe and now the 3 deluxe. It seems that as soon as the new gen phone comes out the older model is dropped like a hot potato...
Won't be buying another...
Asus its terrible updating this gadgets. I have the Z01FD (3 De Luxe) and it never goes far from Nougat 7.0 . I'll never buy and Asus phone again

So I am deciding between this phone and the Asus zenfone 5Z.
LG G7 seems to be the better phone, getting this used on Swappa will be about the same price as the 5Z (G7 new is $629 @ B&H).
On the one hand, G7 may be better phone spec wise, but it seems to be pretty bad with updates. I am hoping rom development would make up for this so I am wondering how it will look like. Most development I see right now is for international version it seems.
Zenfone 5Z is new for $499, but has less features than the G7 (wireless charging for example). However, Asus seems to be very very good with updates recently and already has unlockable bootloader, firmware, etc.
What do you guys think? Which would you choose?

I'd did take the LG G7 easily, it's the best and underrated flagship. I'm always eager to see to more custom kernels .
Hi. I've been a htc desire, one m7-m9 (2007 - 2015) and Asus Zenfone 2,3 & 5 (2015-2020) user for very long time.
Due to Zenfone 6 came out the top range and it's so pricey and not mention Zenfone 7 which I believe will be more expensive.
So after reading some reviews which some said to just delete the Chinese bloatware and should work as per normal and I decided to buy x2 8gb + 256gb rmx1991 and ya with China rom as it's cheaper. Worst part the seller told me outside of China NFC won't be able to work.
After placing my order which is currently still shipping, I did somemore digging to find out more scary reviews which Breeno is an asst app which cannot be permanently delete and even if u set Google asst to main it can't be replace.
Is all this true?
Both htc and Asus having the best launcher as Google is their main app for almost everything.
I'm so use to it to Asus launcher due to its convenient and improvement.
Just would like to know is there anyway I can install the Asus ROM and Asus launcher or maybe any customs ones which is like Asus zenfone to my x2 rmx1991?
And is there a way to unlock the 4g band? If can I need to unlock band 7 as I can only use the supported band 3 only.
Thanks and Regards.
