Hello
this thread is like a poll
this thread can be useful for ppl like me
i wanna know which custom rom+kernel combination (linOs/aosp based roms, treble rom, customized stock rom+ all kernels of our s9 including stock kernel), depending on each user, is better for a daily use.
so in your opinion ,
whats the the best rom+kernel that gives more than 5/6h of sot, without decreasing too much performance ?
whats the best rom+ kernel that gives an amazing performance and gives a new experience for the user?
whats the best rom+ kernel that gives more stability for the user (other than stock) and a balanced battery life+ performance ?
-Personally, im using stock brf8 with apkg kernel and the highest sot i got is 5h20min.
i hope all of you will interact with this thread, so as to give a better idea of s9 development
thank you.

Hello guys! I'm currently on OxygenOS 3.5.2 Community Build and the battery life sucks! I'm wondering if I should switch to a custom ROM + kernel, and if I should, which combination is the best?
There are so many options to choose from and it is very confusing.
1. What ROMs are suggested for best battery life?
2. Which kernel is suggested for best battery life?
3. What is the difference between the FreedomOS based on Stable and Community Build? Which is better?
4. How's the battery life of FreedomOS like?
5. What are some bugs that I should look out for?
I'm kind of leaning towards OxygenOS based ROMs for the stock camera quality. Is there anyway that the other non-OxygenOS based ROMS can achieve similar or equal quality?
I hope you experts can assist me, kind of new to this device and the custom ROM/kernel scene.
Thanks!
NucleaROM has the best battery life, it is smoother than any other ROM I have tried, it has the OOS camera port availability etc.
The $1m question, there is no one answer to this. Best advice would be to try out ROMs for yourself, personally I would stick with the kernel provided with the rom as once you start mixing and matching the chances of hitting the best combo for your unique usage becomes less and less.
Two bits of hard advice though, 1. Backup your current rom before starting and transfer the backup to a pc. 2. Judging battery life of a new rom is a lengthy process so give it a good 3-4 days for your usage pattern to settle down before passing judgement on the expected battery life.
From common opinion, which is the best custom kernel for battery life?
The likely consensus will probably be Flash kernel. However, Ex, Sultan, Snoke and Kirst are all very good as well. Hard to say until you try them
I second on flash kernel or ex
I don't believe any of the kernels provide much of a boost in battery life. Android has that down pretty well and there isn't much room for improvement. Now lots of good features add....they still do that.
They are all good on battery...try some and decide for yourself based on your set up and usage.
Anyone knows which kernel is the best ( In terms of stability, battery life, and performance) for 5t as for 2019. So far I only experienced FrancoKernel, Blu_spark, Renderzenith. Based on my research and as I've talked to some people. Mostly they recommend Renderzernith kernel. Any recommendations?

If you want best battery life than stock, if you want best performance than RenderZenieth, Franco not updated and have a wakelock that doesn't let device sleep, Blu spark is more laggy than stock kernel and doesn't even more battery life. Honestly kernel development is very slow now.

Imho currently stock kernel is the best for me - all custom kernels seem to be problematic currently like frequencies locking up (cores not sleeping, clocking up or down).
perf kernel (aka stock). π-kernel was good for a while but development seems to have stopped for the time being. Hmp based kernels (e.g., π-kernel or SimpleGX) have given me better battery life and fewer lag issues than some of the EAS kernels (e.g., RenderZenith). Some people swear that EAS is better, but IMHO that only holds true if the rom has been optimized for it, which stock OOS has not.
Hello guys
I'm currently in AOSP pie Rom
But I'm searching a performance rom, the battery time doesn't important for me
I just want to get the best performance in games (FF, COD or PUBG)
Thanks
You've got the wrong phone for amazing gaming performance sadly, there is only do much you can do with a SD625. I'd have thought AOSP would be your best bet to be honest
I unfortunately don't have time to test all of them, since I work with my phone.
I was looking for an Android 10 ROM, and I'm not strictly talking about stock Kernel. Custom Kernel is fine and welcome.
ROMs will give you pretty much the same battery life, if the kernel stays the same. So I'd suggest installing a Custom ROM of your preference and then install the smallest package of gapps. What you should be looking for is the kernel. Kernel is the part of the system that manages the conversation between hardware and software. Therefore try some Undervolted Kernels for battery life, these will decrease the performance of your device, but it will increase the battery life. As long as you're not playing graphic intensive games, you will not notice the difference. My suggestion would be to use "DragonHeart vx.x + U" kernel in the forum. It is undervolted, so the battery life will be much better than stock. Also keep away from unofficial, untrusted and Beta ROMs, if you want stability. Cheers.
EDIT: You can also flash the custom kernel on stock ROM if you want to have the least amount of hassle.
