Hello XDA! I just got a new Motorola Moto G6 Play XT1922-9 unlocked version. I was wondering that since it's been a couple of months (give or take a few) since the phone's release, if you all knew of any custom roms for this phone. Mine is already rooted with Magisk.
Thanks!

The only rom's available as of right now are project treble gsi (generic system image). There is an official Resurrection Remix GSI https://www.google.com/amp/s/forum....gsi-resurrection-remix-o-6-1-0-t3811299/amp/. Download treble check to see if you have "A" only partition or A/B partition. Then download which ever rom you have the partition for

I only have a partition A and seamless updates are not supported. Project Treble is supported, so do I need to build a custom rom for this with Project Treble or can I just flash it? If I do just flash the ROM, will it be buggy?

Which one should I choose? There are about five of them.
And the roms are buggy. They are generic system images so they work for any phone thats project treble compliant so they have bugs just there different bugs for different devices. I can say the fingerprint scanner and some other stuff does not work on the g6 play. Wouldn't recommend using the GSI roms if you plan on using the phone daily basically lol

You click the big green box that says download latest version. Those are the gapps that you have to flash separately after flashing the rom

My phone isn't working. I wiped /system and flashed the vanilla GSI, but then it boots into the bootloader
Well you should have read everything before going on flashing something that has bugs. your gonna need to flash the stock rom for you variant of your phone. As long as you still have twrp it should be easy
that's not what they meant ninja. anyway, jeter user here, about to test it once I get the thing flashed
it works, probably should have flashed the roms in a different order, though

Go to "Settings > System > About Phone" and tap your build number 7 times.
Then go to "Settings > System > Developer Settings" and see if you can enable OEM unlocking. If you're already unlocked it will say so at the bottom of the switch, and be grayed out. You shouldn't be unlocked if it's a new device though. If the switch is not there, your bootloader can't be unlocked.
The switch is there, and I can enable it. So the device has locked bootloader?

Hey everyone,
You can download the March security update for G5 Plus (Retail channel only) from here
Side-load it through ADB.
(Note: This has been tested on Indian retail variant. It may/may not work on other retail variants - proceed at your own risk)
New build number is NPNS25.137-92-8
My RETIN device hasn't received the OTA yet. Is it rolling out now?

You may edit the title to something like "G5 Plus March Security Updates for Indian Retail Devices" as some users still don't know that it's a different firmware than for reteu/retus devices (those are ending on 93) and flashing this one could cause problems or at least take the opportunity to receive future OTA's.
Just a hint, no insinuation in any way, it's great that people like you share their firmware.

I don't see any problem with that, since it's a retail variant and there's no radio (carrier) dependency. Since all Moto G5 Plus retail variants are identical (except for no. of SIMs), there shouldn't any issue generally.
Can we just install it through TWRP ?
Bcoz i had hard bricked my moto g5 plus and use albus blank flash and i got like Moto z play bootloader and finally now its running by losing voLTE and Google pixel experience with 3g ...
So i am just wondering if i can flash it through twrp and then i get moto g5 plus boot loader back then i again flash a latest version firmware...

If you take a look here: https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/potter/official/RETAIL/
you'll see retail variants ending on 92 (+something) and on 83/93(+something). Both are retail firmwares and I think you can flash a 92 on a european or us device but as you change into the retin channel you won't receive regular OTA anymore. Motorola/Lenovo makes it hard to differ between the firmwares and I will try to find a stable source for that. I'm from Germany and I'm rooted so I don't take OTA's at the moment but friends of mine have received the march security patch and they are on a build called NPNS25.137-93-4.

I can't tell you. I'm not sure if Lenovo comes out with Oreo at all, it's been a long time of waiting now.
I think you are able to try it at once when you can grab a firmware with bl but maybe you'll have to wait until TWRP flashable builds are available or the kernel sources are released and some clever Dev can pick the needed files.
You can just wait and hope.

This device will be sure upgrade to Android P. It was launched with Android 8.0 OOB in India and at that time they were telling it will get Android P update (don't know when)
Also Moto Z was released with Android 6 , now running Android 8 (surprisingly i got update notification to July patch at the same time on both phones , retin ) so its obvious It will get Android P. But i don't think it would be first as moto/Lenovo is more busy with low/mid-range devices.
The thing im concerned with is Android Q (since it was launched with Android O here and moto gives 2 upgrades .)
Sent from my Moto Z2 Force using XDA Labs
P is now confirmed. Have it from a german source. Seems to come this year. But no 8.1 Z3 has Snapdragon 835, too. So we get the 9.0 Upgrade faster than the others

Steps
How to Update Moto G5 and G5 Plus to official stock Android 8.1 Oreo? The easiest way is to do an OTA upgrade. Note that this is full update zip. Best part is you will get future OTA updates because it is official and not a soak test.
Download the Moto G5 (Plus) zip file from above.
Transfer the file to phone’s internal storage. Go to Settings > apps Provide storage permission to Motorola Update Services app. Check for OTA updates from Settings.
The package will be automatically detected and system upgraded.

1) Nope - it seems that copying the OTA file to the top of the internal storage (alongside the Download, Alarms etc. folders) works.
2)In Settings>Apps, tap the 3 dots in the top right corner and tap 'Show system'. The Motorola update services should appear then.
Be aware that this update may require NPNS25.137-92-14 (I've not seen the EU/US/APAC OTA released yet), so if you're from the US or have a non-Brazil/non-Indian device, this update may fail to be applied.
My retus is NPNS25.137-93-14. If NPNS25.137-92-14 may be required then I guess there will be a different OTA file for EU/US/APAC? Unless Lenovo releases the lower number update NPNS25.137-92-14 to make the OTA compatible with EU/US/APAC?

Hello, I'm new here. I wondered if anyone of you had any news about the update to Pie of Moto Z2 play. I have a Wind carrier version (Italy). Should I wait more? if not, where can I find a right and safe stock Pie update to be installed manually? and how should I do that? thank u
not available yet in italy. but even if it was, i would wait to see how it performs and wait some other´s users report before updating. there´s a pie thread in the news section, post in that thread. i would delete this thread
It is not available in the us yet on verizon granted a 1710-2 will always get updates later than a global device will

I mean I wouldn't doubt it's a custom rom he is using a screen recorder that requires root and a bootloader unlock so granted I could be wrong but literally I tried the same thing on a Na xt1710-2 no dice in the same method that was shown
