Hi, I didn't find any information about android P for our Z2 Force here. We get 3 years security updates on Z series, right? And android P as last big major upgrade, hopefully. Has anybody latest news about P? If not yet, now we have a thread for infos about that
Dude P hasn't even been released yet

Erfanoabdi got p booting on the Z, it wasn't Motorola. Booting and being fully functional are two different things. https://www.xda-developers.com/android-p-beta-3-unofficially-motorola-moto-z/

That's great, but sorry, we talk about Z2. But I think we get it. Why not? Hope end of the year. Or is it possible to get the beta of P working shortly? Do any developer think about that way?

Motorola is too busy selling a phone that is pretty much the same as us and saying it's next gen then worry about us... We have 8.1 in aosp form and P works with some files erfan made in the discord.

Not publicly, sorry. It is advertising another service if I do.
Full treble modularity is pretty much complete and should be in lineage and a public statement possibly in the near future. we are VNDK compliant on the treble alpha builds.

As stated we repurposed OEM (which isn't used in aosp builds) as vendor. No repartition needed.

This device will be sure upgrade to Android P. It was launched with Android 8.0 OOB in India and at that time they were telling it will get Android P update (don't know when)
Also Moto Z was released with Android 6 , now running Android 8 (surprisingly i got update notification to July patch at the same time on both phones , retin ) so its obvious It will get Android P. But i don't think it would be first as moto/Lenovo is more busy with low/mid-range devices.
The thing im concerned with is Android Q (since it was launched with Android O here and moto gives 2 upgrades .)
Sent from my Moto Z2 Force using XDA Labs
P is now confirmed. Have it from a german source. Seems to come this year. But no 8.1 Z3 has Snapdragon 835, too. So we get the 9.0 Upgrade faster than the others

with lenovo basically shutting zuk down because they want all ther branches under one name (lenovo) i am asuming there will be no more updates rom wise along with any new phones from "zuk". the best way to get orea now would be to use a costom rom when there is a stable one out, however that might take a while.

Thanks to 23anand23 for his post (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75120971&postcount=208) on how to update Indian DUK-L09 to Android 8 (unlocked bootloader needed) There is no problem in unlocking the bootloader, it's easy and non tedious job and the bootloader can be easily unlocked later if you want.
Everything is same except the new Oreo features. Also, I heard that it has Project treble support. As we know that Treble makes updates easy, but do you really think we will be getting updates?

Today Honor has released Oreo Stable update[india], But there are many chances of having bugs. So I am creating this post so that everyone can report his bugs, so of there are any major bug, people can stay away and wait for a new build.
So, a kind request to all for reporting any kind of bugs.
Here is a link for reporting bugs to support team

also provide valid logs or video or screenshot of issue for our understanding as mentioned in this form
while uploading file in reporting template better to give either bugreport/screenshot/ video of the issue and mention the name as your name of the files..

If that's the 1.12 GB OTA update for the official Oreo patch, then unfortunately no sign of a blankflash included.
It'll likely come in either a factory image or a separate leak, if neither appear (e.g. we just get the Oreo fastboot image), then you may have to consider a service repair.

Honestly I don't know. The blankflashes we have on XDA are leaks, which makes it very difficult to know when or even if we'll get one. Motorola regards them as internal development tools, and will not give them out, which means we're very lucky to get blankflashes. If you're desperate for a working device, the only resolution for now is paying for a new motherboard or consider buying a new device.

Again, I do not know if there's even a hope of a newer blankflash coming out. These blankflashes require signing by Motorola as they flash to your bootloader, to maintain the security. It's very difficult to predict leaks, so we will either get a new blankflash working on 7.1.1 and 8.0.0 or not, so it's up to you if you wish to wait or sell your old device for parts. I just hope the new device has a better fate than your old one.
well let's hope that if people find a solution to this and take out the new blankflash we ask friends
need blankflash for 7.1.1 also..
if any one have updates, please help us!

Chinese MiUi is partially different than Global version.
Since people in china are more into buying their stuffs so they throw in more updates as well as more supports. The reason why even Redmi 1s runs on Android 5.0 or above maybe being a very old device.
Zuk died and all its models are taken over to Lenovo line-up and ya zui being the their flavour of os in Moto's as well as Lenovo's Line-up they will be updating the firmware according to chinese ppl. Not Global ppl.
And that's partiality. :crying:

Shall we take a look at Samsung and the other incumbents? I'd consider Xiaomi as one of the most liberal when it comes to updates. Yes, the android version might not always be current depending on the device but atleast they're trying to keep even the cheapest devices fresh.
