Why won't my S8+ update stock apps? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

I'm confused about updating stock apps on my S8+. When I go to APKmirror, I can see that newer versions of apps are available like Messages, Camera, Bixby, etc... But my phone doesn't update to them. If I download the APKs and try manually installing them, I get error messages that it didn't work. I'm still under warranty for the phone with T-Mobile so I haven't rooted it and everything is stock aside from basic customizations.
What am I missing? Is there a way to force updates? Maybe a companion app that will do it for me?

Help with Gallery 3D

I recently tried out CM 7.1 and to my surprise the "Gallery 3D by Rayman50" force installed itself after i launched the market, now i cant remove it anymore. I went back to my previous rom (2.3.4 stock tmobile rooted) I did a fresh install ,wiped all system data, cache,etc... and as soon as i sign into market on the stock 2.3.4 rooted rom, the app is back on and installed. I even disabled auto synch and auto back up to prevent the install but it hasn't helped. I had the stock 2.3.4 rooted rom before and didnt have the issue, it started all after installing CM 7.1 a few days ago. Anyone else having this problem?
thanks
Not per se, but I'd guess that this is somehow connected to backing up your settings to your google account. So it's probably still set for automatic download (had this with different apps before).
I'd just let all apps install automatically via the android market and then uninstall it with titanium backup. When your device next syncs with your google account, it should remove the 3d gallery so this won't happen again. (You'd obviously have to activate auto-backup again for this to work)

The OP said nothing about jellybean, and from your other posts seems you're post-padding.

Anyone got S Note to work on 4.4.4?

I recently changed back to stock for more stability with phone calls and apps. However I have a problem S Note not wanting to install on my S4. When I attempt to side load the apk it says App not installed after it acts like its installing the app. The other issue I am having is with a few games that I am reloading from Titanium Backup that worked on 4.4.3 but not on 4.4.4. I don't want to reinstall them from the store because it blanks the data out and I don't want to start over on those games.
Having stock firmware, I don't think other phones apps will work. Not sure tho.

HTC 10 APK Assistance required

I need a little help here, I have the unlocked variant of the phone that I'm using on T-Mobile. I use the my account app to keep track of my data usage and other things, the thing is that the latest version does not work properly. So I decided to go back to an older version of the application that works absolutely fine. Here's my question, is there any way that I can slightly modify the app so that it will not keep popping up in the play store letting me know that there is an update available? I know that I can disable auto updating of the application which I already have done but I would like to figure out if there's a way that I can get it to disappear from my apps list in Google play.
Any help with this would be tremendously appreciated
Titanium backup has a remove/detach from market option but that requires root.
the other option would be to resign the apk with a different key compile then then install it, it will still show the updates available on the play store but installing the update will fail

I'd do that the last time I did stuff like that was with kitkat, any guides for doing it with marshmallow?

Looking for SMS/MMS/RCS App w/message blocking/filtering on content phrase/keyword.

I recently updated my old Sprint GS3 to Lineage OS 14.1 with GApps. Only problem is, that in the process, I lost the ability to block texts based on their content (NOT what number they came from). The stock Sprint Messsage app on KitKat had this. But neither the most recent GApps or Google version has this. I've tried a bunch of other options available from the Google Play Store, and so far they either, don't have the feature, it doesn't work the way I need it, OR they drive me nuts with ads or wacky features I don't need or want. I've also tried copying over .APKs from some other Samsung phones on Sprint. But I couldn't get any of them to successfully install or work on my phone. Any constructive suggestions would be much appreciated. THANKS - mz

The problem with copying the APK from a Sprint phone is that the stock system is odex and lineage is deodex. You could try flashing a stock ROM that's deodexed and backing up the APK with titanium, then restoring it on lineage. May or may not work because some of those stock app just want the TouchWiz system no matter what. You could try copying the APK from a stock deodexed ROM (like wicked x) and then installing it on lineage as a user app. But like I said some of those Samsung apps need TouchWiz to function. Just thought I'd throw out some things to try.

Google Play Services - need to downgrade further, or to uninstall completely

I have an s9 snapdragon variant running 8.0, September 1st security patch. Downgrading firmware and rooting is a no go due to limitations on my device.
The lowest I can get to is 12.6.89 for my play services.
I always get "App not installed" when trying to install an older version. Package disabler pro won't even list Google play services to try and get rid of it as best as possible for a clean installation.
I've tried everything I could possibly think of. Surely someone has figured a work around for newer devices with no stock uninstall option, and uninstalling updates only going so far, right? There has to be something better... Am I missing anything? I'm willing to collaborate with others in finally fixing this
