[Some background]I had already unlocked bootloader and flashed a ROM,but due a power surge my mother board become dead took it to service center the replaced it,now that I'm trying to unlock my bootloader it is not unloking,I'm on stock zui(nougat).
I didn't remember my earlier serial number and after mobo replacement my IMEI no. changed so I downloaded unlock file on the serial number which was in my phone(it also matched with adb devices command),but there was error,so I downloaded one more unlock file from the serial number behind my device(after replacement there was a sticker on the back of phone which had the new imei and a serial number ,so i thought maybe this works)but it agin failed so what might be the issue here?I have done this before and I am pretty sure I am doing it right(I read the guide before the procedure). Please help or suggest something,I really hate ZUI.
It says in the error: cannot load flash

Hi everyone,
I guess many of you are in huge pain with the KU990 new version, that is, the ones that cannot be unlocked using lg3g or mtty methods.
Here I would like to describe everything I tried so far and the current status I am locked in today.
My biggest mistake was to not backup my phone (the famous .nv2 file) at the very beginning ! I strongly advise people who wish to modify their phone somehow to first backup with LGMDP !! Otherwise you may end just like me...
I started with a SFR (VDF FRANCE) locked phone and, as I did not have the SFR sim card at that time, I tried to unlock it with both the lg3g and the mtty methods. Unfortunately the unlocking procedures did not work at all, although I ensure I tried everything. I finally read somewhere that the newest KU990 had a supplementary protection that could not be overcome.
In parallel I was able to manage to change the firmware to OPEN or VDF (EURO) versions ranging from v10a to v10j (using LGMDP). So it seems that there is no big issue there.
However at some point in the process (I guess the unlocking), my IMEI was changed. And my phone started to ask me to "Insert USIM card" or to refer to "Invalid USIM card" depending on if a sim was in or not. I understood that USIM was referring to international sim cards so I tried to reinstall VDF firmwares with VDF .nv2 and VDF Flex backups (still not mine), but this made my phone unusable as it displayed a nice yellow screen and the fact that some wallpaper file could not be found. Still I could solve this problem by I changing back to OPEN firmwares and .nv2.
Now I recovered the original sim card from SFR and was able to obtain the unlock code from their hotline. But as my IMEI has been changed, the unlock code fails now.
Thus I tried to reset or to change my IMEI back to what is written below the battery using either lg3g, mtty, QPST or NVEditor. This also leaded nowhere as even reading the IMEI with lg3g and mtty failed and as QPST and NVEditor revealed that the NV_UE_IMEI_I parameter was protected (NV_READONLY_S). I tried many different things with these tools but it does not seem possible to break the protection.
I guess my only chance now would be to insert my old IMEI into an existing .nv2 file. I have found some "NV2 - QCN TOOLS V1.4" that can do this but only on the KU20.
Does anyone has a tool allowing to insert a new IMEI in a .nv2 ?
OR
Did anyone go through the same difficulties and did finally find a solution ?
any help will be greatly appreciated )
please do not ask me how i did this or that for the moment, if I can solve my problem I will certainly return the favor to all of you later on.
Hello,
Have you tested the tools for the KS20, because the. NV2 is certainly quite similar.
@+
Thank you for your suggestion.
I tried the tool but first it returns a NV2 Status Error when I load any .nv2 file, second the IMEI is forced into 357323-01-XXXXXX whereas both my original and current IMEIs start with 353638-02, and third, although the tool indeed creates the file (I chose "Branded nv2"), the backup fails (LGMDP reports four NV ITEMs with NV_BADPARM_S with no more information) and I end up in Emergency mode.
A KU990 version of the tool might do the trick, if it is possible to specify the full IMEI of course. I can send my current nv2 file(s) if it can help anyone...

Can you send me by PM your backup NV2, the original IMEI and IMEI on your phone now.

Does anyone know or have any idea where the Kindle Serial Number is located in the device? (not through the menu but stored within the device), the reason I ask is because I am testing eldarerathis' FFF extended bootloader and I was tinkering with flashing Stock ROM (rooted) to the alternate partitions, funny thing is that for some reason the OS is unable to retrieve the Serial Number and so you can't register the device with Amazon. I've looking through every file within the ROM and I have not been able to identify anything that could possibly give me a hint of where the Serial Number is located.
Any thoughts, ideas, suggestions are greatly appreciated.

If it was sitting in some file, it would be much too easy to spoof and lead to sharing Prime accounts, etc. It would have to be embedded in the hardware somewhere. That's my way of telling you that I have no idea why that setup would have a hard time retrieving the serial number.

Why are things like this in the Dev section? This needs to be moved to Q&A
The only reason is I feel there is a better chance of getting a response for this type of question from active devs than most regular users. If not agreed by a moderator I'll gladly move this to the Q&A.
I recently bought a Kindle Fire from Ebay and I'm unable to register it on Amazon.
The amazon reps told me that the serial number is blacklisted and recomanded me to return the device to sender and ask for refund.
Well, I'm unable to do that and I don't want to install a custom rom on it.
The serial should be located within the software, and there should be a way to change it (like adding IMEI - see the guide in the dev section).
will it work with fastboot ? does this change the serial number or jst the number that 'adb devices' will display ?
fastboot -s <serial number> specify device serial number
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
you say you dont want to install a custom rom but its really the best and easyiest way around it... I recommend this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1439916

It wouldn't do you any good to change the serial number. There's a corresponding security key number paired with it, so changing one won't help without the other. Since Modaco is just an enhanced version of the stock software, it wouldn't be any different either in terms of obtaining Amazon services on the device (sorry pooch).
Contact ebay/paypal and file a dispute.
Hi there,
Need a help of someone good at working with G4 unlocking. Here is the story of whole problem.
I bought an LG G4 from my local market. At the time of purchase it was rooted but not updated, so I thought to update it. I tried to flash it with Marshmallow kdz available at storage cow with H81520B_00, but may be I flashed my phone with wrong kdz file (as I was not aware of matter at that moment) which was not supported by my phone's model as my phone was H815T (HKG version). The flashing of wrong KDZ file changed the ESN, IMEI & MEID of the phone and replaced them with something that is blacklisted in international phone database. because of this reason now whenever I try connect my phone to the network with the sim installed, it doesnt show any connectivity and displays that service is disabled on the phone.
After this incident, I re-flashed my phone with correct kdz available for H815T model but the problem still persists.
Then in many forums I tried to find the solution to revert back my phone's ESN, IMEI & MEID back to the values printed on the back sticker of my phone pasted under the battery. Somehow I was successful to revert the IMEI of the phone back to original but I am unable to change the ESN and MEID values.
I have tried many ways. I tried to use EFS Explorer of QPST but in that, I found that the NV folder which includes the ESN and MEID values is locked and by applying all my efforts and searching everywhere, I am still unable to unlock this folder.
I tried DFS CDMA Tool, it shows my phone's info properly, but when I try to write the old values to my ESN and MEID areas, it says that the values have been written successfully, but when I try to read the values again to check whether they have really successfully written or not then the tool shows the previous corrupted values again.
I tried EFS Professional & CDMA workshop for the same reason and it too showed the same response as DFS.
I need a help from someone who can guide me that how can I unlock the NV folder of my phone and write the correct values of ESN and MEID of my phone back to it so that it can connect to the cellular network.
Apart from cellular network connectivity, all the functionality of the phone is perfectly fine.
Exactly same problem with my G4, only difference is that it connects to network and disconnects again and again. I am able to make/recieve call and sms when outdoors. Ut randomly drops signals even outdoors
Hi,
Due to a repair under warranty, my IMEI stayed the same and my Device Id changed. Therefor I can't unlock my device anymore.
LG is unwilling to cooperate with changing the IMEI DeviceId combination in there database. I could file a complaint with my provider who changed the behaviour of my phone after a repair. The cunsumer authority in my country said that I would win the lawsuit but I don't want to put in the effort...
I still know my old device Id. Is there a way to change the device Id and use the old unlock file?
Is the Device Id LG asks for the same Id as the Android device id?
Thanks a lot!!
Frans
No you can't change the device id, it's fused into the device. Your best bet is to keep bugging LG to accept your new IMEI/DevId combination.
Found a tool called Qualcomm flash tool. Maybe it will do the job. Just need to know where it's stored.
Hi everyone, I've purchased a Redmi 7 outside my country (Argentina), and everything worked as expected. Then after some hours using it, the phone started updating. After the update completed my SIM card was not detected anymore and both IMEI numbers show up as UNKNOWN.
I've downloaded some tools to restore the IMEI but in order to do that I need to open Diag mode. The codes (*#*#717717#*#* and such) won't work, showing the message "Open diag failed". I've read that to enable Diag mode, the phone needs to be rooted.
To be rooted, the bootloader needs to be unlocked and to unlock the bootloader, I've to log in MI Account in the phone but is impossible without a valid IMEI.
I don't think I did something wrong since I just bought it and used it normally for a few hours with the SIM card working correctly.
I've already written an e-mail to the Xiaomi support contact but got no response yet.
What can I do? Is there a way to get into Diag mode without root?
Thanks in advance
You can try flashing a fastboot rom of your region through fastboot mode
