I just installed the OTA for DP5. I was prompted to accept a permission for Google Fit, and then my navigation buttons reverted to the old 8.1 style (triangle, circle, square). Anyone have this happen to them? How can I get the gestures navigation back?
Go to settings > system > gestures > Swipe up on home button and activate that.

Hello bought this phone for my wife and I don't want to root. What's the best app to enable swipe down to expand notifications please?
Try Apex launcher, go to setting/gesture...
Hope it could help you.
Go to Setttings -> Display -> Advanced Settings -> Home touch buttons -> Button combination -> you can add a shortcut to the nav bar that expands notifications.

You sir are a star. I have used Android for a while, but didn't think this would be a feature on a stock rom. I think this needs sticking somewhere. I know that launchers as mentioned by loxa, have this feature but wanted to leave everything as stock. So thanks dhka.

And this is why I'm glad I signed up for the XDA community. You are awesome!
anyone knows how to expand notifications on lockscreen please? i bought this phone 2 days ago and notifications are not expandable on lockscreen and this is driving me nuts
With the G2 you could swipe up from the button and acces quickmemo.
There's only a google search option with the G4, any way to change this?

Not that I've found. there are two other good options:
1) Add QuickMemo+ to your quick shortcuts in the notification panel
2) add a shortcut to your lock screen
This should work.
Settings > Apps > (Menu) Reset Default Apps
Clear whichever one it is, and redo the action and you should get an option to reassign + some other options
Mine gives me the option to call out a tasker task or greenify screen off+lock which is what I do so i can turn the screenoff even from a full screen app without using the button on the back.
Hi,
I have update my oneplus 5t with the latest official android 8.1, and the nav bar does not hide automatically anymore after the update it hide. (I don't remember if it's a android or nova feature).
Do you know where is the settings to enable the hide of navbar?
Thanks.
I reply to me because I found where it is.
go to settings, bottons, navigation bar & gesture and choose hide the nav bar
Does anyone know anything about this?
Because I went to; Settings > Buttons > Navigation bar & gestures > Hide the navigation bar - marked it
But this is only hiding it while I'm in the Settings.
I thought this is going to hide it always even while at the HOME screen?

Try this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.sakeapps.immersivesettings
After installing app, you need to give it permission by adb, use command: adb shell pm grant jp.sakeapps.immersivesettings android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS

Don't care for any 3rd party apps, but thanks anyways...
For now I'm just using "Navigation Gestures" and quite liking it, at least it hides the nav bar too...
Hey guys,
I've seen that the navigation buttons for Android P are different. After the update I had the new navigation buttons but after putting the PIN and lock screen my navigation buttons came back to Android O.
Anyone knows if there's any option where I can change it? I've looked everywhere and couldn't find.
Picture is attached
Thanks for your help
I just installed the Android P Beta and ran into the same issue. But I was able to get the new gesture based nav bar permanently by doing the following:
Navigate to Settings > System > Gestures
Then scroll down to "Swipe up on home button" and it permanently enables the new nav bar.

I'm hoping someone knows how to make a mod that will go back if you swipe it to the left.

Hi, is there a way to add the 3 buttons at the bottom of the screen for the back, home and recent apps that I used to have on me s21+ I'm now using pixel 7 pro and no back button is killing me haha, I will attach a photo of the buttons I mean, thanks Ian
On Android 13 there is a setting to bring back 3 button navigation.

Would love this if you know where I can find it, thanka
Found it, thank you very much
Short guide:
Tap the Settings icon to launch the Settings app. Scroll down and tap on Accessibility.
Scroll down to the Interaction Controls section and tap System controls.
Tap System navigation.
Tap 3-button navigation or Gesture navigation.
Tap the Settings button next to Gesture navigation to change the sensitivity of the screen to the Back swipe gesture. Use the Left edge and Right edge sliders to tune it
Might there also be a setting (maybe within Nova?) to switch the return and app buttons? On my galaxy they were the other way around and it's quite annoying on my pixel 7 pro :')
