I bought a Sony Xperia Premium Dual sim, put my two EE sims in and it zapped the signal significantly. It was if it was fighting for the signal. One sim would win and vice versa and the loser often ended up with no signal. Sony said this would happen is it was not designed for two sims of the same network. I got shut.
Could anyone confirm if I was just unlucky with that one as I am looking for Dual Sim again.
Thank you.

You might also need a non-gba micro sim for EDGE to work on tmobile. Wasted a lot of time looking for it as they are discontinued. You might get lucky and find one still sitting at a tmobile store. The card holding the micro sim would be blank instead of a photo that tmobile usually prints on the card. And also look for the 50.01 printed on the edge of the micro sim itself. Had a relative with this problem so we just cut his old sim since he hadnt switched to a gba SIM yet.
My newer micro sim did not allow me to save the Tmobile apn . Switched it to my wife's older sim that I cut down to a micro for her iphone. Entered the T-Mobile APN hit the save button and of course it worked. I was then surprised when I switched my sim back in and it still worked. Had a few 50.01 SIMS ready but did not have to cut any down and call T-Mobile to switch them.

I am in search of a dual sim phone, and I consider the zenfone 2 a good candidate.
However, it is vital to me that the phone can support a data connection from both sim cards.
Obviously not at the same time, but to switch data connection from one sim card to the other, without having to physically change the sim cards around.
Is this possible on the zenfone 2?

This is possible but sim2 only supports 2g speeds.

Thanks, that's quite a disappointment.
I thought today most other dual sim phones do support 3/4G on both sims?

You will not get data on sim 2 due to Asus blocking it with their firmware. Even though they used an outdated and subpar modem for sim 2, it is still capable of data. Their Zenfone Selfie does contain a dual active dual sim with lte on both sims this their "flagship" phone however used inferior hardware.
Unfortunately this may not be the phone for you in particular if you live in an area such as the U.S. or in Europe where they are shutting down 2G, it's already happening. This "flagship" dual sim phone will soon become a single sim for many of us.
I've actually talked to Asus about this and was told this is their "Flagship" phone and it is "Premium LIKE". I asked what he meant by "Premium Like" and he said it was comparable to other high end phones with compromises made on using lessor hardware. LOL, it's a knock off then, no different than buying "Prada" bags out of someones car trunk. I've had to deal with Asus on a couple of issues with their phone and have to say, I would NEVER buy anything again from them.
Hi,
Just picked up a Wileyfox swift 2x and am having an issue using it in dual sim mode.
When a single sim is enabled it works just fine but if the second sim is enabled I lose reception for both sims, once I disable one of the sims the other sim then receives reception as normal. Have looked on the forums but cannot see any other users having the same issue so don't know how to progress this.
Have used these sims in a dual sim phone previously without any issue so its clearly a handset rather than an operator issue.
Any help appreciated!

Is this a suggestion to post in this forum or is there a thread related to this in this forum?
I have seen the thread related to Dual Sim and the lack of 2G fallback, but that is not related to my issue as both SIMs have previously been used in other dual SIM phones.

That is the forum for your device,Wileyfox Swift 2. Here is a forum for Wileyfox Swift only.
Operating frequency
Hi,
I had a similar problem to this in NZ recently (on Swift model). It happened to me a my phone was not compatible with many frequencies of one of the sim cards I had in. Switched the sim to a more compatible network and now both Sims are behaving well.

Thanks for your input.
I ended up returning the phone to Amazon and the replacement phone worked just fine so the issue was obviously limited to that particular phone.
Dual sim problem.
I had similar problem. I used ga giffgaff sim and a Three sim (Hutchinson), but three switched off 2g in my area. TFor calls it was fine, but enabling data caused problems. In the end I removed the three sim.
I can't find a solid answer on this. I'm looking for a dual SIM phone that doesn't limit the 2nd SIM to 2G, like most older dual SIM phones. I found one source online that says it does support 3G on SIM2 after a software upgrade.
In particular I'm curious if it's supported on LineageOS ROM. My question in the relevant thread for that has gone unanswered. For now I'd be happy to know that it works even with stock.
You can run either the first or the second SIM on 3G, but you can't run both at once on 3G. As soon as you set one SIM to 3G, the other drops back to 2G. This defeats the purpose of Dual Sim in countries like Australia that have stopped using 2G. There's only one 3G radio in the phone.
This information is for the A7 2017, but presumably it's the same for the A5 2017.
A520F-DS, the dual 3G/2G works. At least dual standby. Stock TW. Also works with 4G on 1 SIM.

Some apps might not update the signal strength(Android 1 telephony API, single SIM, 2G doesn't really support the newer(cellids only, no signal strength unless it's matched with the neighbouring cell info), 3G dual, and most of 4G is OK). To fix this, insert 2 sims, set 1 as default for everything, remove that SIM, the signal strength will update for the other SIM.
Band Selection(3G/2G only unless the other SIM is set to that) and Band Disable(4G/3G) works and only applies on the selected SIM. Requires root or specific CSCs.
Cell Locking applies only on SIM 1 and could affect SIM 2.
I've owned three different dual SIM phones (current one is the A3) and none of them could do more than 2G for the "other" SIM. Totally agree with @ryebuck that it defeats the purpose of dual SIM devices in some countries, the more so when more countries will drop 2G in the future. Either manufacturers start making REAL dual phones, or the dual concept will die of its own death.
I'm having trouble finding out what type of dual SIM technology the 7T uses. Is it DSFA of DSDS? Will either one allow me to take a call from two different carriers at any time? FYI I'll be using Verizon and AT&T.
OP has always 'only' DSDS. So you can only make one call with one card at the same time.
The other card is disabled during this call.
Thank you for the info. If I am currently not on a phone call, the phone being idle, are both Sims able to receive a call at anytime?
yes, of course.

Dual SIM technology? I'm on the T-Mobile variant. I'm confused.

DSDS = Dual sim, dual standby, where you have two sims from two different carriers. When one SIM is active on a call the second goes idle. DSFA = Dual sim full standby, even if one sim is active on a call the other continues to function, although I am not certain of the mechanics of how a user handles two calls at once.
These are very popular with frequent international travelers, or when someone has a company phone and a personal phone but doesn't want to carry two devices. They really haven't caught on in the US because carriers for the most part have similar coverage and don't sell them. The carriers don't want their customers to be customers of other carriers too.
Imagine living in Belgium but frequently traveling to the UK and needing to use a mobile phone in both places. The roaming fees and long distance charges would be outrageous. With a dual sim phone a user could have a Belgium sim card and a UK sim card and be able to use the appropriate sim as needed without having to place the wear and tear on the phone doing sim swaps.
I have tried to find a dual sim phone which functions well in the US. I have a dual sim S9 from the UAE market, but for some reason the data is very slow compared to a single sim S9 for the US market. I also tried a Sonim XP8 which worked well enough until the phone figured out it was in the US and disabled the second sim slot. Apparently Sonim does not want the XP8 to function as a dual sim phone in the US.
T-Mobile has disabled the second sim card slot in the 7t, for whatever reason. I have a 7t coming from direct from the manufacturer and I am excited to see how well it works as a dual sim phone. I have a line on TMO and a line on AT&T, and I don't want to carry two devices if I don't have to.

I had no idea. So if I but a dual SIM card tray and flash the international version software on my T-Mobile variant I should be able to have dual SIM functionality?

This has been done on other model phones and should be the same with this one. It was the same price point for me so I just cut TMO out of the deal. Just be careful flashing other firmware, if you are a TMO customer you wouldn't want to loose Band 71.
