[Q] how to update unbranded motorola defy from eclair to froyo???

i have an unbranded motorola defy. i want to update to froyo. can somebody please tell me the steps on how to do it?

Can u go into about phone in settings and then select check for updates? What region is ur rom?

Motorola has released their official Froyo version in the USA and a few countries in Europe. The rest of the world will get it later.

If you don't want to wait you'll have to flash an unofficial ROM (which voids the warranty of your phone).

Seems bonkers that SIM free handsets are not being sent the update first, i may as well have just got one for free on T-Mobile as buy one outright.

Which stock rom should I download for this phone?

I bought phone from Bond and Bone (Auckland , New Zealand)

Could anyone please tell me what stock rom is suitable for this phone? I can only find N7105XXALJ5_N7105VNZALJ3_VNZ.zip which is for vodafone nz.
I noticed the baseband verison is different. Can I use this one?

Changing the software version of my LG G4

So i bought an LG G4 online but its a Hong Kong version and i live here in the UK. Is there anyway to change it to the UK version? (v10b-EUR-XX)

I have recently bought Samsung Galaxy J Docomo. Upon spending countless hours on the internet searching for roots, I could only find the root for build id: LRX21V.SC02FOMUGOI4. Does there exist a root for Build ID: LRX21V.SC02FOMSGPL2 (which is on my phone)? If yes, can somebody point me in the correct direction?

Moreover, is it possible for me to flash the firmware with build id: LRX21V.SC02FOMUGOI4 on my phone? Will it brick it since my phone is carrier-branded?

You don't always need the exact firmware for root to succeed.
If you have the stock firmware to hand then just try it anyway.

Are you running stock rom? Is the bootloader unlocked or not?

I'm running the ROM that was on the device when I bought it. Bootloader was not unlocked.

EU version, today received (AT LAST!) 8.1
Downloading at the moment. Do not ask what is different, it is my son's phone.
