CREDITS
@VinciusG Nexus 4 mod
@sshafranko Original mod
Added new version 1.1 with support for devices with mixer_paths.xml in System/etc (untested).
Please report if it is working on Nougat and below.
hello, i use lineage os 15.1 with stock lineage kernel and i don't know if i have "mixer_path.xml in system/etc"
wich version should i use? and (in case of fail or dislike) how can i reverse it?
thanks in advance for your comments.
-edit
installed the release version 1.0, this mod work really great! thanks op for your work!, although, the volume of the "front speaker" is low to compare with the back speaker, like 40% maybe 50% less.
Use v1.1 as it supports both directories. System/etc was used in older android versione so i added support in case anyone needs it, even if it is untested as i use lineage 15.1 now.
New v1.2 update released with small fixes on names.
Module has also been added to magisk repo so you can download it within magisk app.
Feedback from roms below oreo would be appreciated. Thanks

Increasing the volume should be possible but it might damage the device. I'll test higher volumes and in case update the module.

Work on Android 7.1.2 (PureNexus ROM) but the difference in volume between the two speakers is remarkable.
PD: It's good to see that Nexus 4 has not been forgotten and still alive

Thank you for feedback.
Tried it out on my LG V20, running LineageOS 15.1.
Sounds damn nice, haven't maxed out the volume just yet, but both treble and bass were crystal clear up to volume step nine out of fifteen.
No crackling, popping or snapping, no ViPER or other audio mods installed.

Nice to see this mod working on other devices too.
Just to let you know, doesn't work with k6 note, lineageos 15.1 and viper. But I assume, k6 is generally incompatible
working great on last official lineage os 14.1 build (20180427) with custom kernel (sinai 20180522)

Thanks for feedback, would be great if someone using KitKat or older could test it.
Works on my nex4 but volume is too low, and I don't know what the syatem uses in alsamixer to increase the earpiece volume up. Back speaker is fine as normal. So the stereo effect don't work. I am using marshmallow krexus build with quanta v 20.

I don't know this app and i don't know if it works with magisk. As i wrote before, increasing the volume too much could damage the phone and i didn't test a higher volume yet.
Thanks for making this module available for our good old Nexus 4.
I haven't used the N4 in a little while, there was a flashable zip created here at xda in the apps section. Is this using the same levels as that one? Feels like the volume can be bumped just a little bit higher or perhaps it is just my memory playing tricks.
Anyway, working fine using LOS15.1
Yes it uses the dame levels as the already existing mod
Module has been updated to v1.3 and module template has been updated to latest version 17000.
Works good on mine running Android Pie. Volume is pretty low but i imagine the speaker might not be more powerful than that.

I've been running V4A since I first unlocked my 10, and it works fairly well, but not as well as when I have the Nexus 6 and Note5. Although you can flash the standard V4A in TWRP and have it work, you need to a modified version that patches the audio config files in order to not lose BoomSound or Audio Profiles. You can find the flashable ZIP that patches here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/how-to/htc-10-audio-thread-t3358064 (v2.1)
My primary reason for needing it is to boost the volume output to my car through Android Auto, which is Bluetooth powered. Play Music is so low when used this way, that I need to keep my radio near 30 (45 max) in order to get decent sound. Same car (2015 Sonata w/ Infinity radio) and the Note5 would achieve the same quality closer to 15/45.
The 2.1 zip I mentioned above seems to break all system sounds when applying a ROM update, but not every update. When it happens, I need to dirty flash back to the latest Viper full ROM, then take the OTA again, then flash V4A and hope it doesn't break. I'd prefer some other options to raise Bluetooth volume levels if anyone can recommend an alternative.

Have you tried any other mods like AcoustiX_Audio_ZeroInfinity ?
I feel like that increases Bluetooth output
Question for you -- I remember you from YEARS ago (been here a long time -- just haven't contributed as you have) ---
I'm on AT&T and am currently using IceROM .... and specific reasons you use Viper? PM is ok if you'd rather

I have not. Is there a version that maintains BoomSound function? That's why I've previously stuck with the thread I linked above. A vanilla V4A install works, at the expense of BoomSound, and I'm trying to avoid losing it.

Used to run Viper because it was a godsend on the Nexus 6 and its horrible audio setup. On the 10, I'm using it for Bluetooth volume more than anything else. The slight boost to speakers is nice with the Extra Loud toggle, but I can go without it.
Do you have a link to the specific mod you're talking about? I'll try flashing it later tonight to see how it works.

Gotcha!
For me, I like maximum customization options, and for me Viper has offered that since I had the One M7 a few years back. When I made the decision to unlock my 10, I went straight to ViperROM, so my experience for this device is currently limited to a week on stock, and then Viper for custom.
But I have no doubt that each ROM currently available has pros and cons, Viper included, and it's up to everyone to give them a shot and use what works best for them.
Info:
Target Device: SM-T560NU only (gtelwifiue)
OS: Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow
Variant: LineageOS 13.0
Status: Usable as daily driver, but still to be considered experimental
This project is a side project of mine to bring Lineage 13.0 back to the SM-T560NU.
I recently purchased one of these, and use a few apps that have not been updated in years. These apps do not work on Nougat, therefore I needed Marshmallow.
vince2678 had a great Lineage 13.0 build, but had started to shift his efforts towards the more popular and updated Android Nougat by the time that I got this tablet. vince had started to warn that he was going to be dropping Marshmallow to focus on Nougat.
Therefore, using his code base, and attempting to apply some more modern patches to keep Lineage 13.0 up to date, I started creating my own builds in private. There was one single, obsecure link to it, on my website, and it was discovered. Since the community has shown interest in this project, and vince has now officially dropped support for 13.0, I am willing to release my private builds.
Please keep in mind that while vince's builds were designed to be as stock as possible, my builds are tailored towards my needs.
They are not perfect, but they work for me. There are still some issues to be ironed out, and sometimes new issues sneak in when you think you are just building a security update
But, since you wanted them, here they are. At the time of this post there is only one, but this will grow over time, when I have spare time to try to fix any issues and apply security updates.
All builds use my optimized kernel.
Releases and known issues:
You can find my builds over at:
https://losupd.zefie.net/builds/full/?C=M;O=D
lineage-13.0_j199_20170720
Android Security Patch Level: July 1, 2017
USB MIDI Support (example video of controlling Logic Pro X with the SM-T560NU)
No changes to previous issues in this build (same issues apply)
lineage-13.0_j196_20170617
Android Security Patch Level: June 1, 2017
AudioFX is missing (disabled in build due to unsolved issue in ROM causing crashes)
Updater is untested. You may or may not get a notification when a new build is available.
Flashing the recovery that comes with these builds is advised against. It may work but is untested. Use my TWRP Build.
Device encryption does not yet work
There is a strange issue that prevents you from taking still images using the built-in camera app. Preview and video works. As a workaround, use any third party camera app. I suggest Open Camera.
Just flashed it, everything works great so far.
Ive tried and liked very much
Smooth and lightweight
So far for me the camera dont work but i can record video
Also the encrypt tablet option does not seem to work (I select the option in the security part of the settings screen, it restarts tablet and thats it)
Other than that it seems to be perfect
Thanks for all the hard work

I knew about the encryption but the camera issue is interesting and strange. I just tried it and see what you mean.
I will see what I can do about these issues in the next update, which will probably be mid-august.
Thanks for the report.
The issue seems to be with the Camera app itself, and not any issues with communicating with the hardware (despite the error message), since other camera apps appear to work fine.
In the mean time, if you would like to take still images with this build, I would suggest this great and free (ad free as well) camera app from the play store:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.sourceforge.opencamera&hl=en
I have just tested it (with both rear and front cameras) and it can take still images.
560?
Is it compatible with T560 only ? Whats the difference between T560 and T560NU maybe US Market? or what the difference and where i can get a custom Recovery for the Tab?

This is for the T560NU only, not T560. From what I know they have entirely different processors so there is no way for a universal ROM.
Thanks for this amazing rom. I noticed following: can't change the size of analog clock and sound on the speaker is not very strong.

The clock issue is likely upstream, since I can't think of anything I did that would prevent resizing of widgets, and other widgets appear to be resizable.
But I will look into it.
Speaker issue noted, there was some issue with the internal mic being too low that I tweaked, I may have to check the values for the speaker.
Edit: personal tests show speaker volume is fine. any louder could damage the speaker. if the volume is low, check that the tablet is not laying on a soft surface or something that would otherwise muffle the speaker in the back. When not obstructed, the speaker volume seems fine to me.
Any progress on Audio FX and Camera issues?

Unfortunately I have not had the time to work on this in a while. When I don't have time I just update the source and build (and hope it works) for the security updates. This only takes a couple of minutes as the build process does all the work. One should be coming in the next few weeks. Once the automated build finishes, I test it locally for about an hour and if its good, I release it.
I am not sure when I will have time to actually sit and go through the code to try to debug it to fix the outstanding issues. This can take hours or even days of dedicated time which I just don't have at the moment due to trying to keep my bills paid.
Stay tuned to this thread for updates though, and I apologize for the delay.

After uninstalling 3rd party music app, volume is good again.
EDIT:
Unfortunately I am discontinuing this ROM. I made this ROM for my personal use, and it is no longer useful to me, and I do not have the time to debug it. Therefore, I am discontinuing it. The current builds and source will remain up, and if you guys are not having the issues I am having, and would like me to continue doing security updates, I will, so long as it still compiles without much work on my part.
There will be no updates to the existing issues though.
Despite my previous aversion to Android N, I would highly suggest vince's Lineage OS 14.1 builds. They have come a long way since I last tried them, and Android N isn't so bad after all
I haven't gotten a chance to do a logcat or anything, but I'm getting an instant bootloop after installing Nova Launcher.
It wasn't an issue until Nova updated a few weeks ago, and it affects both your builds. That's my favorite launcher, but I guess I can live without it
EDIT: I see that you're discontinuing this, so I guess this post is more of an FYI to other users.

I'm on the Validus Oreo since this morning, and i must say, it's the most stable Oreo rom for me.
I have installed Dolby Atmos, so the sound is very good. The mic is loud on voice messages and camera. I am absolutly happy with this near unknown rom. The rom is very customizable and rock stable.

Is the sound worst than Nougat? in Nougat lack of Bass and I living with that.
Is most important for me Audio in call, Recording (Mic) and it has enough volume... For music I use BT Headphones (Maxwell BT800).... So, how did you get Dolby? Gapps?

Hello,
I am also on Validus rom. It is a very good rom. But what about speaker call quality, do you hear the person without distortion and also in handsfree mode(speaker out) at your side?
Mine is not that great. Also are on standart kernel settings? The default one(bioshock governor) for me was really awful and slow in the beginning but later changed it to alucard and its fast and lagfree.
What did you do also for that great battery consumption? Any extra settings?

Hello, since a day ago I am using Validus Oreo and I have a strange problem. All notifications arrive correctly except WhatsApp. I have tried everything and I can not get the notifications from that app to sound but the rest of the ones work correctly. It's my first custom rom so I think I'm going to switch to Lineage, it's a shame because I really liked this rom, I have a Lex727.

No extra settings. Govner i use ondemand, 1500 and 2100 Ghz.
The sound off seaker call is ok but not the best.
Now i am back on Resurrection Nougat. Its about the great sound on this rom with Dolby Atmos and Viber4A installes. I cant live with a metalic sound on my phone. But all Oreo roms cant provide a acceptable frequence range for me.
On the Resurrection rom i can have the most rich sound what is technicaly possible on this phone, and i am happy with it.
it is a decent rom. everything work well. i am happy with it.
It is a great ROM. Some body has fixed the wathssap notificactions?.

Hi, go configuration>WolvesDen>System>notifications>smart notification sound>switch to app default
Other things I do was in configuration>battery>Whatsapp>battery optimization>switch to not optimized
With those changes I was able to solve the problems with WhatsApp notifications.
Good luck!!
I have to say the latest version of Validus uploaded yesterday works wonderful well even better than the previous one, the sound still sounds a little bit metallic but everything else perfect.

as addition to that, once whatsapp is opened, you can lock the app after pressing recent button. Then ram management will not close that specific app so it will remain in memory and always be active for notifications.
example below @locoivan01
Worth a try..

I can confirm that the fast charge works at 2000 mah maximum and goes down to 600-400 mah when completing the last 10%, for me it is better this way because the phone does not heat up at all, something that happened with the previous version.
I love this ROM!!

You have to turn up volume in your phone and in the Bluetooth device. There isn't absolute volume in MIUI like there is in Android Pie or 10 stock.

Does it have any bugs?
What about scrolling screenshot and internal audio (for screen recording)?

The only bug the current version have for me is the dark theme resets back to normal on reboot, but that's nothing major and probably will be fixed on the next update
It does have scrolling screen shots
I didn't test the internal audio recording so i can't say
The default kernel is good, but i use mad kernel with it , and its great, and the dev has no issue with people using that kernel specifically
The one thing i have to mention that it comes with gapps already installed , but its minimal, for me its good this way...and magisk latest works fine with it and playstore certified, and it supports encryption
I do recommend a complete clean flash for the 1st install to avoid any issues

If you have root with magisk you can easily check internal audio recoding by using 'Screen cam' app from playstore and its magisk module.

No microphone issue?
Hi! I'm looking for an Android 10-based ROM with Android Auto and SafetyNet fully working and fixed. Do you know anyone with these characteristics?
