Using gestures? swipe up on the pill to open multi-tasking and then tap the icon of the App at the top and select Split Screen.

Here's a screenshot

i really liked the old oreo split screen shortcut.....so i made an app that brings it back. (play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.github.ericytsang.multiwindow.app.android)
if you want to use the pill for navigation (instead of the old 3-button navigation), there's an option in my app that lets you display the accessibility button to trigger split screen mode...

I use an app called navigation gestures which replaces the pill with a way more powerful version. It replaces the nav bar entirely.
It can assign any action to any gesture (right & hold for instance) and one of the things it can trigger is split screen.

REQ- Mod to hide nav bar while typing.

Is it possible to hide or deactivate the nav bar automatically while the keyboard is up? That would be useful!
Not automatically no

I don't know, I don't build ROMs. I suppose it is technically possible, but it isn't implemented. You can hide it manually and that's about it.
This would be nice. I really feel like Google didn't maximize the advantage of the virtual buttons.
Same here my friend.
It might not be a solution, but it helps. Some keyboards have an option to make a "bumper" on the bottom. It helped me out a lot from accidentally hitting the navbar.

I run my bottom nav buttons at the thinnest possible setting on aokp, so its the same height as the top status bar. Maybe that would help. I definitely like it better, more screen displayed, semitrical top and bottom.

Use expanded desktop if you need it so badly.

I have seen this in AOKP, but I only want to hide the navigation bar when typing on the keyboard. If they can implement the manual hide, why can't the automatic be implemented, when the keyboard pops up?
They can implement arrow keys on the navigation bar when keyboard pops up, so it means there must be a way to know when it happens. Why not just hide it then?

[Request] Keyboard Mod

I hope one of you can assist me with this:
I don't like how much space the keyboard takes up, but I really like the samsung keyboard.
Exhibit A:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
If you change the keyboard type to one handed operation, it makes the keyboard smaller and shifts it to the side but it still takes up the same amount of screen real estate.
Exhibit B:
Lastly you can switch to the floating keyboard which is the perfect size but it sits on top of whatever window you are using obscuring information. As such it does more harm than good.
Exhibit C:
(You can select the floating keyboard by long holding on the settings button on the keyboard and then clicking the icon all the way to the right)
What i propose is a version of the stock keyboard that has the same Height as the floating keyboard but docked to the bottom of the screen so that apps reposition correctly. Is there any way to accomplish this? Also is there any way to reduce the size of those huge headers in the conversations? Perhaps even a shorter text field in the messaging app would help as well.

Big Back button when using xposed Framework on AT&T Sense rom.

Hi friends,
I installed xposed Framework on HTC one m8 at&t with sense. All is good except for the ugly size of the back button that I can't seem to revert back to stock. Is there any alternative way to pick icons for the navigation bar?

I'm attaching this image below. You can see that the size of back button in navigation bar is relatively bigger than home and recent keys.

I have the same problem as well. The only to minimize the effect is to adjust the nav bar size in gravity box. At around 50% the keys are about the same size.
I heard this is caused by the back button having a separate scaling compared to the other 2 keys.
I have also the same problem. Help

I installed the Android L Navigation Bar and the back key become smaller....
Does it have solution?

run 2 apps on screen at same time

Is it possible to run 2 different apps on screen at the same time , like say youtube and chrome . I'm not sure if the phone has the feature
Well, there is an option to run two instances of one app. So you can use two whats app accounts. And with Nougat update you can set split screen in "Recent Apps" menu by dragging one app to the top of the screen and choosing an other one for the bottom of the screen.
Possible in Android 7.

You have two options.
1. Open both apps, as you said YouTube and chrome. Click back/finger print soft button a bit for multi tasking window, click top of one app and drag till the taskbar and release your finger, there you have it.
2. Open the above two apps, or more. Slide the bottom part of screen to reveal on screen navigation bar if you have disabled it. Click and hold multitask button for a bit. That's it.

Where is the back button bars on either side of the screen

Look at the photo. That is from my s8. It had a back button vertical bar on either sides acting as back button. I very much require it due to large screen of note+
How do i enable this?
