S9 Battery life - Samsung Galaxy S9 Questions & Answers

Why Samsung put only 3000Mah on this device?
I got 4h SOT sometimes..
How I can get better battery life? maybe remove the bixby?
or maybe sell the device and buy S9+?

Why 3000Mah? I guess because they wanted to for weight and physical size, you'll have to ask them. The battery life thing has been discussed to death, so do a search for that. I doubt we need another battery life thread.

[Q] Regarding 3500mAh battery!

Hey guys I just saw a 3500mAh battery for SGS2 on ebay. Is it safe to use such battery? I mean it won't harm the phone, will it? :O
Probably won't harm the phone, no.
I bought a 3500mAh obscurely branded Chinese battery in mid-December. Tried it out for almost two weeks, a bunch of charge/discharge cycles & estimated its real capacity was around 1900mAh. It also used to heat up a lot on recharge (mid-high 40's Celsius, which isn't normal when the phone isn't being used whilst charging).
I took it back, got a refund & bought an original Samsung 2000mAh battery. Hasn't missed a beat, is obviously close to its advertised capacity given I get around 20% more use out of a charge than I do with a 1600mAh battery.
Obviously your mileage may vary if you buy one of these (you might have a better experience than I did), just thought I'd let you know about my experience.

Well i heard that their batteries exploded in their phones......so be careful.....better pay for a better one instead of having a chance to ruin your expensive phone.

I have one of those I got from DealExtreme and it is great. It lasts 2x longer than the original Samsung battery.
I take care not to swap them often, because I am afraid that this action might damage the original cover, eventually breaking it.
Battery Life
I am still using the 1650 mAh battery (stock) for my S2.
I am really facing some battery issues. Its charging almost all day !
Yes I am using 3G all day and WiFi HotSpot too. But use wifi at home. Thats when I get good battery life. Any better way to conserve some battery ?
Any tips might help
Thanks
Got mine a few days ago from eBay and its been fine so far. It last more than 2x the regular battery. Phone does not heat up or anything strange..

well i an getting with the original battery 24H of usage.
with the 3500mah i am getting 60H of usage... so my 3500 is truly 3500mah!
the language is hebrew.
i use congnition rom 1.51 and siyah kernel.
So, where can I see a trustful review on batteries for SGS2? What is the most extended one?
It's really frustrating that my current stock battery is only enough for 2 hd video view (4-5 hours).
Also, the higher the mAh value the more battery lifetime is, right?
I would really want to buy 3500 mAh, but it costs so little.
And the official Samsung variant that offers the longest lifetime of a battery for SGS2 is this one, maybe Mugen 3500 mAh is the best choice out there?

What is the model name of the battery? Is it being overheated in comparison to stock one?
why should it overheat?
it is lithium ... same same
Yes, it's special lithium from China extracted under full moon and blessed by a thousand virgins
Really now, if it was possible to manufacture a battery having more than double the capacity of the stock battery while taking up the same volume, don't you think the megacorporate Samsung would buy that technology immediately in order to use it themselves ? "Too cheap to be true" is valid even here; most knock-off batteries either are fake ("9999 mAH SUPER EXTRA" sticker over the original rating), or will degrade quickly in time leaving you with a dud.
Since there are already fake electronic components...
... why not fake and cheap batteries too, certainly seems to be a high demand for them.
a. it is not the same volume! in is twice as much as the original.
b. the i9100 has a circuit that allows a slow stable charge rate so i dont think it will damage the battery.
As well as being made of inferior materials, not being subjected to the same QC, not having the fuel gauge chip present in original Samsung batteries, you pretty much get what you pay for.
My advice would be to avoid non-original batteries altogether, and given a 2000mAh original battery will cost around the same as one of these 3000mAh+ batteries with all their problems & poor life, it's a no brainer.
Stick with Samsung batteries.
fuel gauge chip?
i would like to see that chip in an any cellphone battery please.
If you're not aware of/don't know about the fuel gauge chip in original SGS2 batteries, you've probably been living under a rock since the phone was released

well i think that you misunderstood the meaning fuel gauge.
there is no chip in the battery that is in charge of the fuel gauge.
furthermore there is no use of recalibrating the battery in out i9100 model.
all you gave me is a link you Google...
please... show me that chip! i would like to learn something new about lithium batteries..
Plz can you Possible link topic of the battery

What about the other question that you chose to ignore, regarding the battery's model that you mentioned.
thanks for the info guys,
cuz I need a battery really disparately cuz I use so much data and sync :'(
I couldn't find something really reliable feedback from viewers, and i'm trying to find something with good quality as well!
guess i have to search further!

I've seen good things about one on Amazon. Which ROM are you using? Also, which kernel?
Sent from my SGH-T989
My guess is a battery issue...not a bad battery tho.
Why not get gsam and post some screenshots after a good long drain?
Your setup, usage and apps have surely changed over time. Something is likely draining your battery.
Read the first 3 posts in the battery thread in my signature.... Its for the N5...but most info is universal.

Ok. I've seen some good things about Anker batteries (like this one:http://www.amazon.com/Replacement-T...H-I515/dp/B0078WL4YO/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top)
With a new battery, do a full charge, full discharge (until phone dies and will not turn back on), and another full charge.
+1 for the anker 2200mah replacement. It's cheaper than the oem battery. It lacks nfc though. And as for the whole "battery memory" thing, don't worry about it. Just pop the new battery in and use it however. I just bought the anker to replace the original battery in my wife's s2, her battery life has doubled.
I just bought the Anker 2200 mAh battery and its great. My phone does last a little longer on standby, but my screen-on time hasn't increased by very much (I typically get about 3-4 hrs screen time).
I'm running CarbonROM + Wildkernel and other various tweaks for battery life. My phone spends most of its time in deep sleep.
When you open your battery stats, what things are taking the most out of your battery? I've found the app Wakelock Detector to help a lot in tracking down battery drains.
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.uzumapps.wakelockdetector&hl=en
GSAM gives a much easier to understand picture of battery usage. If you're rooted, get Gsam root companion as well to see held awake stats. ?

[Q] battery life, what's yours?

Hi guys, I hope this is the right place for my question. I bought my galaxy nexus 1 year and a half ago, actually I installed the Slimkat rom but the battery life seems really poor, for example in this moment I've got 68% left with 1h of screen activity and 4.30h in general.
I don't know what's the average of the gnex battery life, but it would be great to improve it a bit. What's yours?
Can you tell me what rom can give me the best battery life? I'm not sure but I believe to remember that with the stock 4.3 the situation was better (not too much really), is it possible? shouldn't 4.4 be optimized to increase battery life? I've read about people with 4-5 hours of screen activity, how is it possible?
thank you and sorry for my english :fingers-crossed:
Generally, battery life for my 2.5 year old Gnex is generally not good. In fact, it's poor when new, and gotten worse over the 2 years. I'm using CM11 with Fancy R51. I think it helps the standby time significantly, although screen on time still suffers from the aged and small battery.
Recently, I made a pogo dock for it, so that I keep it constantly charged while I'm at my desk. At least it helps to reduce wear and tear on the micro-USB port.
well, I understand that battery life can't be the same of when I bought the phone but I read about people with 4-5 hours of screen activity with stock battery! I found a topic about cataclysm 4.3 rom where users say that it has great battery performance, unfortunately I can't post there because I'm a new user. I wonder if a custom rom is necessary or that's only 4.3 worth. Can I eventually flash that from from mine? Slimkat4.4? thanks
I bought my GNex about a month ago and had the intention to use the biggest battery available.
Battery: Zerolemon 5800mAh
ROM: latest CM11 release
My battery app: Battery Monitor Widget Pro
BMW tells me that the battery is actually about 5100mAh, but this average grows a bit with each full charge cycle. The problem is that it takes more than a day to run the battery down and more than a night to get full charge.
With the giant battery I don't worry about managing power.
3h's is the max I've ever got, but normally I only get 2h's.
Only way I ever see our GN would getting 4-5h's of ON screen time is perhaps if the brightness is set to the lowest level, using Wi-Fi only for data AND doing something that require very little CPU power (ie. not gaming/video).
Same. Never got more than 3h of SOT with the stock battery. Let it be Android 4.3 or 4.4 rom. I've tried a new OEM battery as well. The only option to get better battery life is to use extended batteries.
Giant battery with NFC!

Zerolemon looks great! Pity zerolemon doesn't have it for the GSM version. Does the purported NFC work?

NFC is wireless charging?
I only have a standard charger. Maybe some reviews of the battery on Amazon would be a good source for your answer. Sorry.
thanks everybody for the answers, it's a pity because my gnex still has great performance but I leave you imagine what happens when I turn on GPS . For those who talk about extended battery, can you suggest me a model? I read something about non-original battery and possibility of accident, what do you think? thanks

No, NFC isn't wireless charging. It's Near Field Communcation. The gnex is NFC-capable, but the antenna for the NFC is embedded with the stock battery. Upgrading to third-party battery usually disables the NFC functionality. Well, if you don't use it, you're not going to miss it.
Hmm, I will look into that. I don't know if I use it or not. I'm still learning about the phone, but very happy so far. Thanks for the clarification!
...
Ok, read up on NFC on Wikipedia and no, I have not yet used it.
However, one of the top rated "helpful" reviews of the zero lemon battery does mention that NFC does work. I am not currently in a situation that allows me to confirm it. Maybe someday soon.

[Q] Extended battery for Ace2/S3 mini

Hi
I'm having trouble with my Galaxy Ace 2's battery life. I googled today and found 4000 mAh with back cover http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-4000mAh-Extended-Battery-with-Cover-for-Samsung-Galaxy-ACE2-GT-i8160-Phone-/290957031326 , but didn't found any user reviews.
Also i found this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2800mAh-High-Capacity-Battery-for-Samsung-Galaxy-S3mini-i8190-ACE2-i8160-/151537348944 and i like it more (because it uses original back cover)
Anyone has experience with this or something similar?
Does it have power for a long time or loose it after month of usage?
Thanks in advance
Soko
Edit: if this is wrong section, i would ask moderators to move thread

I have bought Hinorx 1750 mAh battery, but it's temporary solution...
I need one of those two if they aren't fake or worst quality on the market
Well... I had 800mAh battery on my old Nokia and (I don't know why bought a "brand new, ultra, mega, hyper" battery.... with 4000mAh... I don't know how naive I was these days (as my laptop did have only 3700mAh battery ;D
And... the battery I bought for my mobile lasted only few hours (with NO activity) in comparison to single day for the OLD and USED battery so... after alll I bought a genuine Nokia 800mAh which was much better.
At this moment I really don't trust batteries for mobiles saying they have few thousand mAh of capacity... (just compare the sizes to the batteries in the laptops
I do not recommend buying anything suspicious and by suspicious I mean everything more than 10-20% of your original battery capacity.
@wolfensg thanks for your reply
i bought 1750 mAh Hinorx battery...
manufacturer says that after 3-5 charging cycles battery will reach it's full potential... so, i will do it and post results if anyone needs that info
btw, battery is about 10€ so i dont expect so much

Changing the battery on Nokia N1

My battery life has started to go down so I'm thinking to change the battery in the coming year or so, according to accubattery I'm at 97% health (5,120mAh/5,300mAh), but I'm experiencing rapid battery drain all of a sudden.
There are tutorials to open N1's and I've changed batteries on iPad minis, so I'm ok there.
The question is, has anyone found a good quality aftermarket battery? Is it possible to get an OEM one?
