I've seen good things about one on Amazon. Which ROM are you using? Also, which kernel?

My guess is a battery issue...not a bad battery tho.
Why not get gsam and post some screenshots after a good long drain?
Your setup, usage and apps have surely changed over time. Something is likely draining your battery.
Read the first 3 posts in the battery thread in my signature.... Its for the N5...but most info is universal.

Ok. I've seen some good things about Anker batteries (like this one:http://www.amazon.com/Replacement-T...H-I515/dp/B0078WL4YO/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top)
With a new battery, do a full charge, full discharge (until phone dies and will not turn back on), and another full charge.
+1 for the anker 2200mah replacement. It's cheaper than the oem battery. It lacks nfc though. And as for the whole "battery memory" thing, don't worry about it. Just pop the new battery in and use it however. I just bought the anker to replace the original battery in my wife's s2, her battery life has doubled.
I just bought the Anker 2200 mAh battery and its great. My phone does last a little longer on standby, but my screen-on time hasn't increased by very much (I typically get about 3-4 hrs screen time).
I'm running CarbonROM + Wildkernel and other various tweaks for battery life. My phone spends most of its time in deep sleep.
When you open your battery stats, what things are taking the most out of your battery? I've found the app Wakelock Detector to help a lot in tracking down battery drains.
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.uzumapps.wakelockdetector&hl=en
GSAM gives a much easier to understand picture of battery usage. If you're rooted, get Gsam root companion as well to see held awake stats. ?

hi does anyone know of an actual battery that has more capacity but does not require a bulkier battery door?
and most importantly, that it DOES give you more battery life?
because i once bought a 2000MaH battery for my HTC TP2 on ebay and that was the biggest scam i fell for, the stupid battery gave approximately the exact same battery life as the old battery... which was 1500MaH

Yeah the batteries that do not require a bigger back door are all going to perform the same oem or worse. So you can get a cheap charger and and extra oem battery and do that,or say **** it and get the big ass battery

ahhh the eternal quest for the holy grail of batteries. nope, it's not possible. not until battery technology improves. If it was possible to have a better performing battery that was the same size HTC would of put it in their to begin with. check out batteryboss.org for proof.

I did check it out! What's wrong with the 2150mAH TP2 battery as an option? I ordered one. Thanks for the link.
Here's one: Mugen Power Extended Battery 1800mAh for HTC Evo 4G
However, the reality is that Manufacturer claims a 20% improvement in battery life. Depending on your use that may or may not be significant enough. I'm just running stock battery w/ custom ROM (Damage Control) and some system tweaks which significantly improved battery life (errr, at least resulted in less battery drain

The "1800mAh" Mugen tested identical to the 1500mAh OEM battery.. save your money. http://batteryboss.org/results/NewMugen1800mAh_vs_NewOEM1500mAh.png
IMO the best option is to tweak your settings.. Im getting as much as 30 hours out of my OEM 1500 battery now. I also have 3 spare
batteries in case I ever need more juice. they are quite small and fit in a wallet fine. i've yet to actually need one. You could also try
this, which was told to me by an HTC Rep (and it for real almost tripled my battery life!)
"To also help with Battery Life you can do these steps exactly: 1) Turn your device ON and Charge the device for 8 hours or more 2) Unplug the device and Turn the phone OFF and charge for 1 hour 3) Unplug the device Turn ON wait 2 minutes and Turn OFF and charge for another hour Your battery life should almost double, we have tested this on our devices and other agents have seen a major difference as well."
you only need to do it once, and then again each time you flash a new ROM or do an OTA update.
did this method of turning the phone on and off and charging the battery for another hour improve battery life for anyone?

30 hours? you joking right?
If you getting that much why in the world would you have the need for an extra battery let alone three?
I call BS
That's hardly BS.
I easily get 30+ hours out of a single charge.
Right now im at 22 hours with ~45% battery life on stock 1500mAh.
It's a rip-off to get an extended battery because they don't perform as well..
I am waiting on a 1750mAh spare battery that fits with the standard back plate. If it works well, I will advise.
what is your up time though. i have an 3500mah extended battery and i don't get 30 hours still

I keep 4g on
I keep data always enabled too.
Do you?
I get over 9 Hours with BT, and data on all day. I have a task manager that shuts things down every 30 mins "IGNORE LIST messages, gv dialer, clock, task manager" Without it I was getting 4 hours. I make calls and surf the web and watch my porn clips during the day, so it does get used. I sent for the 1750 yesterday so I will update this after I get it that thing going. And the new batterys do have to be charged and discharge like 20 times before the hold a charge as well as they say it can.. Batterys on ebay=joke, buy the name brand ones. I used to make r/c battery packs and they have a peak run time in life, and its not the first time you charge them. It takes time..
I went to eBay and bought the "HTC EVO 4G BATTERY 1800+Dock USB CHGR SPRINT TOUCH PRO2" from vendor Chichitec. Vendor is located in California, so no sketchy chinese vendor, high ratings and fast delivery.
I haven't really timed how much more usage I'm getting with this new battery, but it does last longer, trust me.
The separate wall charger also seems to charge the OEM battery better than just by using the usb cable on the phone.
Not a bad deal for $19.98 at your door.

I get anywhere from 20-40 hours on a single charge(OEM battery) depending on my usage running Damage Control 3.2.3 with netarchy's 3.7.5 kernel, setCPU and Advanced Task Manager. I have setcpu keep the CPU @ 245mhz when the screen is off and 245mhz-1113mhz(on demand) when the screen is on.
I also use Advanced Task Manager($0.99) to kill out the programs I'm using with a widget/button. Whenever I'm done using the device I quickly hit the kill button(which doesn't kill the normal essentials) and shut the screen off which down-clocks the proc to 245mhz.
Today for instance:
-unplugged at 07:00
-GPS on, Wifi Off unless needed, 4G Off, Bluetooth On during travel
-beautiful widgets updating weather every hour via cell triangulation
-stock weather updating every hour
-used for slacker via the AUX jack for 45mins-1hr on the way to work
-1 bluetooth call in between listening to slacker on the car
-about 10-15 calls today while at work
-about 10 emails came in and I read them
-browsed web for prob 20mins during lunch on office wifi
-used for slacker via the AUX jack for 45mins-1hr on the way home
-rebooted device
-made 1 non-bluetooth call, sent a few text messages, and then posted this
I'm now at 61% battery remaining and probably won't charge this until lunch or on the way home from work tomorrow. I would give my up time vs awake time but I restarted the phone an hour ago so those figures aren't there anymore.
So, BS? I think not.
I have read what batteryboss has said but I can tell you I get 3-4 hours longer use from my 2000Mah battery. Now I am seeing a big drop off with Froyo but it is on all my batteries, even the OEM.

Innocell 3800mAh Super Extended Life Battery
I have used Seido Cells with G1's before and they were still running just like new after 18 months of heavy usage, twice the battery life over stock. The case looked better on the G1 as the back was flush. On one of the phones the case did crack and break after a 3 ft fall. It was a cheap and quick replacement from Amazon, under ten bucks if I remember right.
The one offered is a 3800mah at 69.99 and shipping now.

I really want a better battery too, I'm waiting for ANKER to make one for the t989. I have no idea how people manage to squeeze so many hours from there phones on this stock battery, but I usually go 5-7 hours before it dies. I'm not a heavy user but I do have my screen to 100% all the time. I don't mind carrying spare batteries.

If people are really concerned about hte battery life etc, just get one of those mobile chargers. They will charge everything from laptops to cell phones...they are called power packs.

How old is your battery? When i first rooted my EVO, it could sleep overnight and lose 2%, and after a year, it wouldn't stay on 100% for more than 30 seconds. I could literally sit and watch the battery drain at this point. Age I'd a big factor in determining the battery life.
Another big factor is whether or not you are using an HTC battery, or if you purchased a 3rd party battery. Just keep those things in mind.

First things first. This belongs in Q/A . That being said. Did you do a Clean Install of the Rom ? Did you restore any Data ? What Kernel are you using ? Also this has been mentioned, but I will reiterate. If your Battery is old, or if you are using a knock off Battery it affects the Battery life.

After a long period of battery use,it will degrade as time goes on and you will lose battery cells and the battery gets weaker and wont keep a full charge, the best practice is to charge your phone fully, then let it discharge until it shuts itself off, then recharge again and do the same thing, then recharge and the battery will stay charged a little longer,is what this supposidly does is try building the cells back, but its only temporary, especially when you have an worn battery, the best roms to use for battery life, from my experience is aamikam and Tommys roms, alot of time it will also have to do with the kernel, especially if its an OC'ed kernel, look for an SBC(superior battery charge) kernel.
ok well idk what kernal it is because i cant figure out how to add one yet,, but maybe it was the batterys i bought this extended battery off ebay which had a high mah rating i thought it would last longer but it didnt wasnt a oem battery i didnt know there was a difference so i went ahead and bought a factory battery today .. thanks
Try discharging the battery than give it a full charge. If that doesn't help, try a Rom called SOS X/N.

BTW not sure if you have one or ever heard of anker batteries but anyways they sell a charger with the battery. My original EVO battery started to die very fast. I bought an anker and it seems whenever I charge the phone via USB charger vs the anker battery charger the battery will die much faster. You should try buying the anker battery charger & use the charger to charge your battery, do not use the USB cord to charge it & see if that helps any
Ever since last week, my battery has been misrepresenting the % of battery. For example, last week, I had fully charged my phone in the morning and it said 100%. Right after I pulled out the charger, it said it was at 60% battery. When I used my phone, it dropped 1-2% every minute. I thought it was an app or something that was doing this, so I installed Battery Doctor. It didn't really make a difference.
I'm posting this, because right now it's worse than ever. It said that I had 100% battery and then right after I pulled out the charger, it said it was at 56% battery. After I closed the screen, it said 100% battery again. Then it started to drop %'s every few seconds.
Some information that might be handy:
- I've had the S3 for 1 1/2 years now
- Was rooted, after update, root was removed and I haven't bothered
-Attached to the pictures are two pictures of my battery today. I haven't done anything but screenshot twice.
Also if it is a battery problem, what type of battery should I get? I'm thinking of buying an Anker 4400 mAh Extended battery (http://www.amazon.ca/Extended-GT-I9300-T-Mobile-Cellular-EB-L1G6LLU/dp/B009GVG8FA).

Chances are that your battery is dying. I don't really know which one is best to get as replacement though.
You should also take a look at what is using your battery, there might be more than a dying battery (app, system). Can also get OS Monitor to see if something is over-using your ram/cpu.
N.B.: Extended battery makes your back cover much larger, you'll also need a different case (if you're using one).

Nothing's using up my battery because I checked through a multitude of apps and the processes running were all the same as before my battery was really dying. I do have a case so I guess I'll just try to find a smaller battery. Thanks for confirming my suspicion about my battery!
I have the ZeroLemon battery. 2300 ma. Same size as stock battery. It was a good deal. They give you 2 batteries and wall charger. Only downside is it does not have NFC. I don't use it so didn't bother me.

I got the zero lemon 2300 and I went from 1.5 hrs of screen on time to a little over 4 hrs of screen on time. Once while doing nothing but watching videos I got 5.5 hrs. My phone is the same age as yours. Seems that is about the lifespan of smart phone batteries.
edited to add that my phone would lose 2.5 % an hr while idle, but now it's only 0.4%.
Hi guys, I hope this is the right place for my question. I bought my galaxy nexus 1 year and a half ago, actually I installed the Slimkat rom but the battery life seems really poor, for example in this moment I've got 68% left with 1h of screen activity and 4.30h in general.
I don't know what's the average of the gnex battery life, but it would be great to improve it a bit. What's yours?
Can you tell me what rom can give me the best battery life? I'm not sure but I believe to remember that with the stock 4.3 the situation was better (not too much really), is it possible? shouldn't 4.4 be optimized to increase battery life? I've read about people with 4-5 hours of screen activity, how is it possible?
thank you and sorry for my english :fingers-crossed:
Generally, battery life for my 2.5 year old Gnex is generally not good. In fact, it's poor when new, and gotten worse over the 2 years. I'm using CM11 with Fancy R51. I think it helps the standby time significantly, although screen on time still suffers from the aged and small battery.
Recently, I made a pogo dock for it, so that I keep it constantly charged while I'm at my desk. At least it helps to reduce wear and tear on the micro-USB port.
well, I understand that battery life can't be the same of when I bought the phone but I read about people with 4-5 hours of screen activity with stock battery! I found a topic about cataclysm 4.3 rom where users say that it has great battery performance, unfortunately I can't post there because I'm a new user. I wonder if a custom rom is necessary or that's only 4.3 worth. Can I eventually flash that from from mine? Slimkat4.4? thanks
I bought my GNex about a month ago and had the intention to use the biggest battery available.
Battery: Zerolemon 5800mAh
ROM: latest CM11 release
My battery app: Battery Monitor Widget Pro
BMW tells me that the battery is actually about 5100mAh, but this average grows a bit with each full charge cycle. The problem is that it takes more than a day to run the battery down and more than a night to get full charge.
With the giant battery I don't worry about managing power.
3h's is the max I've ever got, but normally I only get 2h's.
Only way I ever see our GN would getting 4-5h's of ON screen time is perhaps if the brightness is set to the lowest level, using Wi-Fi only for data AND doing something that require very little CPU power (ie. not gaming/video).
Same. Never got more than 3h of SOT with the stock battery. Let it be Android 4.3 or 4.4 rom. I've tried a new OEM battery as well. The only option to get better battery life is to use extended batteries.
Giant battery with NFC!

NFC is wireless charging?
I only have a standard charger. Maybe some reviews of the battery on Amazon would be a good source for your answer. Sorry.
thanks everybody for the answers, it's a pity because my gnex still has great performance but I leave you imagine what happens when I turn on GPS . For those who talk about extended battery, can you suggest me a model? I read something about non-original battery and possibility of accident, what do you think? thanks

No, NFC isn't wireless charging. It's Near Field Communcation. The gnex is NFC-capable, but the antenna for the NFC is embedded with the stock battery. Upgrading to third-party battery usually disables the NFC functionality. Well, if you don't use it, you're not going to miss it.
Hmm, I will look into that. I don't know if I use it or not. I'm still learning about the phone, but very happy so far. Thanks for the clarification!
...
Ok, read up on NFC on Wikipedia and no, I have not yet used it.
However, one of the top rated "helpful" reviews of the zero lemon battery does mention that NFC does work. I am not currently in a situation that allows me to confirm it. Maybe someday soon.
