TWRP Partition Backup - Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro Questions & Answers

What TWRP Backup partitions should I backup in case something goes wrong when I install a Custom Rom or want to revert back to MIUI?!

Anyone?

I use all partitions when taking TWRP backup (The default options in TWRP). I switched to AOSP from MIUI 10 8.7.5 and back with no problems.

Restoring CWM backup with TWRP, possible?

I made a backup of the stock ROM using CWM but had issues getting certain ROMs to work until I changed the recovery to TWRP. Is it possible to restore the backup made in CWM with TWRP?
I was planning on backing current ROM with TWRP, going back to CWM; restoring stock ROM, installing TWRP and recreating backup with TWRP but I'm just wondering if it's possible.
Thanks!
EDIT: I found the answer myself not 10 seconds after posting this. I hate it when that happens!! FYI, the answer is No.

[Q] Flash a new rom then restore a backup

Lets say I am on a fairly stock rom and have a good TWRP backup and try a radically different rom (like a CM 10.x) and decide to go back to what I had before do I have to flash the old rom file then restore the back up file or can I just restore the TWRP backup?
You can just restore the backup but do a reset first. Eg wipe to install new rom

Hi - it depends on what you include in the backup on TWRP. If you select also Boot, System, Data and Recovery you will get back really everything you had. If you don't have a backup of EFS I would include that too. I did that quite often. When restoring backup you have also your old kernel/modem as it was working before. I never had bad experience with that. Whenever I'm now on CWM 6.0.3.5 as I'm using Android 4.3 (Probam 4.4).

Is there a way to Backup Stock Boot, Recovery and ROM without custom recovery?

Hey guys. It's been a while since the HTC 10 has been out and just throwing the question out there if anyone has figured out a way to make a backup of the stock Boot, Recovery, and System without flashing a custom recovery first ?
The reason:
I originally rooted my phone but couldn't get any of the OTA updates. Upgraded stock recoveries weren't available at the time and there were no RUU files for my carrier either. Eventually some of the upgraded stock recoveries became available but now we are on version 1.95.710.3 and again, no stock recovery is available for this version.
I want to be able to make a full backup (without flashing a custom recovery) so that I can flash TWRP to Boot, make a TWRP backup of Recovery and Rom, then do a restore from the original backup, flash TWRP to recovery and backup Boot as well. Then merge the 2 to make a full TWRP backup file to upload and post up on these forums for people with the same CID.
So, has anyone figured out a way to make a full backup without altering any of the boot, recovery or system partitions ?

Making Nandroid Backup on P2

What partitions should i select on twrp backup option if i want to restore my present rom completely if anything goes wrong while flashing custom roms ? ,if any custom rom is working fine but i still want to come back to my previous rom will it can be done only by flashing the backup file via twrp ?
You can select all except the system image. I'm always restoring this way.

Question regarding restoring a TWRP backup

I have my A2 Lite rooted and running POSP Andorid 10. TWRP is installed and the phone is decrypted. I am able to make nandroid backups. If I switch ROMs and want to go back to POSP, when I restore the nandroid backup will I need to switch slots?
Also, if the phone gets borked for whatever reason and I restore the backup, will I again need to switch slots?

No need to switch slots. TWRP restores to the current active slot.
Since there are more and more ROMs with custom vendor I also backup and restore vendor img. Not only vendor but the image, otherwise it didn't work for me.
