Camera Lens is So scratched up that the image is blurry. And is there any rom with real manual camera with manual shutter speed and iso I could not find any rom except for the Stock rom.
You can go to local Mobile market and get it replaced (outer lens)
Yes, it's a problem as including plastic lens always cause scratches
(BUt Remember ,replacement is also plastic !)
Install open camera ir any manual camera app from play store on any custom rom with camera 2 api enabled, you'll get manual camera mode .
Well my phone has also scratched camera lens so should i replace it ,btw image is no blurry...
And also i think we should apply scratch guard to our camera lens.....what do u think???
glass lens

um... i already broke my plastic cover lens, and dirt and dust keep clogging the main lens inside, so thats not a good idea.
i wonder if the camera settings can ever be fixed. there a no applications that cantake pics with the built in camera, and all rom's seem to be hosting the same camera app.

I've Just upgraded to the HTC One m8 last week from a HTC One x, loving it so far :good:
One thing I wondered was what type of glass is the rear camera lenses made from, don't suppose it's gorilla glass at last is it?
all it takes is a tiny scratch on it in the middle and that's the end of good photos, every mobile with a camera i've had to date has ended up with poor photo quality due to scratches.
I wish they fitted a metal shutter to cover it really, but gorilla glass like used on the front screen would help i bet.
I can't find any info on what type of glass it is, I was wondering myself. I just cut out a small piece of plastic and set it between the case and the phone to cover the lenses.
It hasn't affected picture quality that I've noticed. But if it ever gets scratch I can just change out the piece of plastic.
I don't see why HTC would put such a big circle for a small camera lens.

yeah i wondered that to, It's placed where my fingers go each time i pull it out my pocket to, the lens just gets finger prints all over it.
I was looking at all the cases to see if any have a shutter to close over it but no luck so far.

Just get a cheap screen protector a cut out a circle ?
But then agian, the glass is recessed in the housing i don't see how you would scratch it like that in the first place
Is the camera lens cover part of the back housing?
Replacement back housing includes the back lens cover, however in two disasembely videos the camera lens cover was still on the motherboard when removing the back housing.
I don't get it!
I want to replace my back cover because my lens is all scratched.
Lens not on back housing:

Pretty sure the lens covers are part of the housing. I'm looking to replace my housing as well do to a drop.

It will come with the housing. It looks like the the lens just gets pulled off because it sticks to the camera. You can see in the pic below where the lens surround was stuck to the housing.

Hmm. Anyone else know?

This makes no sense. On some YouTube videos the camera lens plastic is not attached to the back housing, and on some videos it is! I don't want to have to take a part my motherboard to remove the camera module to replace the glass over it.
Can anyone clarify?

I think the camera lens is not attached to the back housing since you can find out that the camera lens are sold separately in many phone parts shop like DBX. That means it can be replace. But it is not easy to tear down the camera lens unless you are professional person. So you can also see there are parts like back housing with camera lens.

It doesn't make much difference with other software either. Day photos are manageable but photos taken at night are as equal to some vga quality images.
Can we have… the sample of images taken at daytme and night??

Hello
I was having almost the same problem, but thankfully I was able to be resolved today
Simply problem
First, is there is dirt on the lens Alcamrh unclear Ptndev do a very good lens.
Second: Take a piece of transparent adhesive tape, taking into account Ndhafah piece OBTAINED and paste it on the lens Alcamrh so completely stripped it from the air by pressing the adhesive tape so careful with all of the external lens Ateixr
For it from the plastic and then open Alcamrh you will notice the difference immediately.
Third: Increase adhesive tape, taking into account the good Cleaning Units to the lens.
With thanks and appreciation

could you explain this with images bro?
thanx alot
I have the same device and had a similar problem. Simple fix for this. The lens is just dirty it has a film build up on it. If you clean with toothpaste and a quetip it will clear right up. I know this sounds odd but worked great for me.
Let me know if this hlps
