T700 WiFi Trouble With ac Routers (RR 5.6.9 MM) - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a problem with my tablet's wifi and my new router. For some reason RR 6.0.1,
ResurrectionRemix-M-v5.6.9-20160602-chagallwifi (rooted)
ROM Kernel: 3.4.108-Deathly-0.2
[email protected] #1
Fri May 13 18:09:59 CDT 2016
(latest and final version) on my SM-T700 does not play well with new Linksys WRT 3200acm (nor another new ac router I tried out, the name of which escapes me rn).
All is fine with old WRT54G but the connection with the new ac routers drops out. Large file (1G in this case) download tests reveal that the transfer rate drops to zero SEVERAL times a minute.
Other MM ROMs
lineage-13.0-20170211-UNOFFICIAL-klimtwifi
ROM Kernel:*Linux 3.4.x
IronRom_SM-T70X_V3.2
ROM Kernel:*Linux 3.4.x
for instance, and Nougat Resurrection Remix work fine. However, I don't like those MM ROMs, and Nougat versions of ROMs cause overheating/crashing and don't have any features I desire, so using those is ruled out. I know that newer ROMs/kernels have newer/better security patches but I'm not concerned with that.
What I've tried:
* Setting router to g-only on both 2G and 5G bandwidths
* Flashing newer kernel--supposedly this can be done, but for me it was just disaster after disaster (never ended up with anything bootable)
What I'd like to do is "just" update the Wi-Fi portion of the RR 5.6.9 ROM, but don't even know if this can be done, much less how to do it...firmware update? patch? rebuild ROM with newer wifi? idk
I have a lot of experience with Android, and love to tinker (have installed, but haven't used, latest Android SDK stable 3.1.2 on PC to allow me to do this even more) . I'm pretty smart about this stuff and try to figure things out myself but just need to be pointed in the right direction for this issue.
ANY help is much appreciated
Thank you, TiTiB

My issue is on the T805 RR rom. sometimes the WiFi keeps dropping to the point I couldn't even connect

Here's something that looks promising! video tutorials about all the stuff I was asking about. Perfect timing.

This is supposed to be the answer? I tried to solve the issue by updating the bootloader without any effect.
I am on a Galaxy TAB S10 with RR 5.8.5-20191130, Kernel 3.4.113, which modem I am using I can not say.

i tried several time to upgrade to lollipop and marshmallow device work fine for 5 days or less, after that it become dead
i have to wait 3or 4 days it restart again and i go back to stock rom .
What's wrong with the Kernel as it is! I mean as a T325 (LTE), owner I'm kinda jealous of the fact that the T320 (WiFi), has all the support it has. Having compiled my own build of CM-12.1 (i.e. Lollipop), by using the same mondrianwifi Kernel (from CyanogenMod). Everything that needs to work just does. The same could be said for Marshmallow (CM-13.0), but I'm not quite able to get the Phone bits working, and the unofficial nightlies that are being created crpalmer. Are all outta date by a good month now.
So I'm a bit confuse as to what your problem is since you should just be able to flat out install pre-built images though TWRP Recovery. And, should CyanogenMod not be your 'thing' there are a few more options to you, that again as a T325 user I do not have.
sorry i cannot understand what do u main
I can not upgrade
Device stops working completely
After the upgrade to 5 or 6 days
But it does not stop working after many days
Some of them advised me to upgrade the kernel
Now that I have a root
And also TWRP Recovery.
The version used 13 cm but the machine stopped working.
Now promised to KIT KAT

Need advice : Nougat or remain 6.0.1

I am using Galaxy Tab S SM-T700. Just checked and I am on 6.0.1. Would I get more speed/battery efficiency if I were to flash to nougat? I am using this tablet mainly for surfing/navigating/ebooks and watching videos, not so much on gaming. Can someone recommend any good stable release of nougat for me to flash as well? Thanks in advance!
You can give the LineageOS 14 a try now that there is an official T700 version. It's not like you have to lose anything. Just install TWRP, backup your current ROM to SD card and then flash the LineageOS and a gapps zip. If you don't like it, you can always restore the Marshmallow ROM with your data.
I don't have experience with LineageOS on the Tab S (it has ok battery life running 6.0.1, now that I disabled most standby processing unless it's plugged into charger), but the Oneplus One port of LineageOS is fast and good enough to be my daily ROM on that phone. OPO had the same problem since Marshmallow was their final release. If you're running out of storage space, perhaps LineageOS will help because its /system partition on my phone is something like 1.2GB, which is 1GB smaller than the Touchwiz /system on the tablet. On the downside, some ecommerce and streaming apps will stop working on LineageOS. Netflix no longer shows up in the play store but you can download the apk manually while Uverse app stops working flat out.

After a few months with Lineage 14, I just went back to stock MM on my T800. Everything is running smoothly, and unless something really great and stable comes along, I'll probably stay stock with root and TWRP. The only real advantage for me on Lineage was less memory used. By not re-installing loads of apps that I really wasn't using, leaves me with enough memory that will suffice. I use package disabler pro to stop bloat running. I've had this tablet for over 3 years, put in a new battery this year and I'm OK with MM until I retire it.
Sent from my SM-T800 using XDA-Developers Legacy app
linage builds have no fingerprint scanner, if that's important to you.
On most devices aosp/cm is a definate step up, on the tab s maybe not so cut and dried. Devs have to deal with so much crud introduced by Samsung , its a wonder that custom firmware exists for Samsung devices at all, hence there will always be some bugs.
The best in my opinion for this device is a stripped stock MM ( Fenris for me) , which I have been running for a while.

Best ROM for Galaxy Note N5110

Hi,
I have an old Galaxy Note N5110 lying around and would like to revive it. What is the best ROM currently available? Currently it has Lineage 14.1 (I think...) installed.
Main Usage:
- reading and annotating PDF files
- use Mendeley to access my article database
- take notes manually and make plots/drawings
- internet access
I don't care about gaming , social networks or photos.
Cheers
Jorge

I have the same device and to my knowledge LOS 14.1 was the latest supported Custom ROM for this device. It still runs on that, but it feels a bit lagging.

Can confirm. I also have a Note 8 Tablet (N5100) and have flashed Lineagos 14.1 (many times).
There's another thread where someone was trying to flash Lineagos 16 onto the N5100/N5110, but can't seem to find it.
Will update if I find it.
Rr 585 works very well. My son is using it for videos and games. Very stable.

I haven't seen any news on it since, though
I'm interested what battery and screen time are you getting with custom roms? I have LOS 14.1 and I'm getting only about an hour of screen time with a new battery.
That's got to be a bad battery then. I regularly get a couple hours, depending on usage. Youtube not so much, reading e-books... dunno, maybe 5?
I have installed LineageOS 14.1 to this tablet and the battery usage is average to the used by the ancient Kitkat. The issue with LineageOS is about unlocking the tablet, the proccess is too laggy and you have to retry many times to unlock it. I forgot: many gestures are lost with LineageOS, for instance, to pause the youtube videos putting your hand over the screen, to take screenshots with the SPen...
Currently LineageOS allows to update the OS version to 16 (I think it is Android 9) but you have to compile it and to try to update the firmware.
Hello,
I have a samsung galaxy note 8.0 model GT-5110 tablet and I would like to update it to android 11, I just don't know what procedure to do, what characteristics the device has to meet or if I have to download a Rom.
I would like to know what you recommend me to do. Thank you very much
What's the best stable ROM for Samsung Galaxy Note 8 tablet N5110 in 2022-23? Kindly guide how to update. My device is running on Kitkat since then, but I have used the device very seldom. Its almost brand new ()

Recommended ROM to speed up my N7

I've loved my N7 2013 since I got it when it came out. It used to be unbelievably snappy, but at some point an OTA made it slow, then the next one even slower. I realised that the Facebook app kills the device so I took that off. Then I rooted the device and did a factory reset. It is less sluggish, but still a bit too slow for me.
If 6.0.1 stock, which I am running right now, is the culprit, which older stock should I go back to? I'd like to strike a balance between speed and going so far back in versions that the security risks and other trade-offs are too great.
I am prepared to also try a custom ROM but I would prefer using my tablet over fiddling with it so I'd like some advice as to which ROM (stock or otherwise) is most likely to speed up my beloved N7.
I highly recommend LineageOS 14.1. (Nougat) It was the last official version for N7 by LineageOS. Everything works on 14.1.... and it is super stable.
wileyc has an unofficial version of it. He is leaving the original build unchanged but is creating security updates almost weekly. Here is the link to his posting:

Thanks Tam, looks like a good contender. If one wants to regularly flash these updates for security, am I right in saying that each time the device is wiped, or can you avoid losing your configuration and apps? Is there a clever way to avoid a lot of hassle with backup/restore and reconfiguring your device each time?

Edit. Hi Lief, I mis-advised (hazzards of being a noob giving advice). You will actually have to do a clean install of lineage 14.1. Meaning that you will have to reinstall all of your apps and settings.... On a plus side there is virtually no bloat in Lineage 14.1, and there is something to be said for how well your N7 will run with a fresh install.
Sorry for the misinformation
Leif, You are correct. Nothing changes with your apps or configuration.
Just download the update/latest build to your device and install with TWRP. VOILA! Done. Pretty hassle free.

I can confirm that the answer is yes - LineageOS 14.1 on deb (LTE) does support video out via the USB port and a Slimport adapter.

Has someone tried to compare 14.1 and 17.1 performance?
I have installed 14.1 It looks great and just wondering how is the 17.1 fly on it?
thx

Android Auto on whyred?

Has anyone managed to get Android Auto to connect to their vehicle on their whyred?
I bought a new car last week and have been unable to get it to connect. Meanwhile my friends Blackberry KeyOne and iPhone both activated AA/Carplay immediately like they were supposed to.
I'm running Lineage 17.1 latest build, but I did see folks were having trouble with it a couple years ago. I was just hoping the situation had improved since then. I just updated the fw files from the Xiaomi firmware project and will try it again, but sadly I'm not hopeful.
If it does work for some of you, what rom are you using?
Thanks!

Problems with GAPPS I guess. Update both, car HUR and phone (gapps, Androidauto, play store, etc).
It's suppose to work normaly.. you can test it with MIUI ROM. You will need to delete LOS anyway if you wanna update FW the correct way (latest Fastboot MIUI ROM using PC).
Good luck and stay safe.
P.S.: I don't use gapps, to much troubles, and not privacy friendly and battery/data eater.

What is the vendor security date of your device? (Unless its newer than Nov 1 2018 I'm already running the newest available vendor update and firmware.) The xiaomi firmware project updates the exact same files that the MIUI builds would.
Latest open gapps, android auto, etc are all installed. Headunit is updated to the latest version of Entune 3.0. The problem isn't the head unit. It's the phone. Old reports on here suggest it never worked with MIUI either. I was just curious if anyone has tried recently to see if the situation changed. I have zero desire to run that mess that is MIUI. It was bad enough using it long enough to get my bootloader unlock key. When you plug in the device you're presented with a menu on LOS that doesn't exist on other devices. (File Transfer, PTP, MIDI, Do Nothing). None of them do anything, so it appears that the MTP built into lineage doesn't know what to do with the connection.

It's not LOS fault, it's car HUR or GAPPS(androidauto,..) fault.
Something is wrong in communication. I have 2nd device with LOS + GAPPS and all is working in my car HUR.

You're leaving out a lot of necessary information, like your build of gapps and what your second device actually is. I have no doubt LOS works fine with Android auto on other devices, but I have yet to see any proof of it working on any whyred anywhere. You're just making assumptions and jumping to defend LOS without any proof whatsoever. You're ignoring the part where every post regarding AA on whyred posted on this forum in the past refers to it not working. It may not be LOS' fault in particular but it very well could be the device firmware never working with AA at all.

Ok ok I have 2 whyred devices(2nd has smashed screen, i leave it connected in car)...hope that makes sense now
Let me simplified this... whyred and android auto is working! Yeah you need to hasel a bit but its working, at least in my Nissan OEM HUR from 2019. You just need to find right GAPPS version. I think its from feb. 2020, anythig newer breaks androidauto. Than just freeze all google stuff or it will update and breaks again. I cant remember all details couse it's too long ago I did it. Sorry, but you'll need to experiment by yourself.
Ahh almost forget...my FW is 10.0.3 I think. Not the latest.
Good luck and stay safe.
It's a big gapps problem and not about the devices. I am on redmi note 4x and have the same problem. My whyred have too. All original devices work. And my mido work before too. Its all about gapps.
I am very much thankful for all developers here but please don't talk its fixed. Its not especially on android 11 builds. There is non fully working gapps out just betas talk work but not. I have many devices. I flash and hundreds of others cellphones.
For all people search. Help to develop or wait for a right gapps build and report to all.
